00:00This is Eye of the Storm, a St. John's video series presented by Noble.

00:05So after the William & Mary game, where St. John's had a pretty good second half there,

00:09what part of the team's performance do you think that he's still most fixated on them cleaning up?

00:14What do you think that he's looking at and saying, hey, they need more work here?

00:18Rebounding still. I say defense. I mean, first half, they did not play well.

00:22You know, they're up five. You know, a team that were favorites beat by 29,

00:26and the second half was terrific. You know, they, 54-26, they played how you thought they would play,

00:32but that first half, they just, they didn't have the energy. They didn't have the urgency.

00:36They weren't sharp, and the second half was like a, you know, different team.

00:40You know, they really defended. They got, like, William & Mary's not a bad mid-major.

00:44They're picked fourth in the CAA. They're a decent team that if you let them get comfortable

00:49and do what they do, shoot threes, back cuts, and all that, they could give you some problems,

00:53and they did for a half, you know, I thought the second half was good.

00:57Yeah, it's a team right now that's playing in spurts.

00:59You know, Alabama, they had some good stretches, didn't finish the game well.

01:04You know, I thought Quinnipack was pretty good for the most part, but yeah, they're, look,

01:07it's, that's the thing, like, everyone wants to have it right away.

01:10It's a new team. You know, the one thing, and I've written about this,

01:14is people kind of have a, are kind of romanticizing last year's team,

01:18what that team was in November or December.

01:20Last year's team didn't take off until mid-January. It took time, and this, you know,

01:26I think this team is further along than last year's team.

01:28I know some people might disagree, but I do.

01:30I mean, I think this team is definitely further along.

01:34Now, they have to be because their schedule is tougher, but I think people forget, like,

01:39look, each of Pitino's, this is his third season now, each of his third seasons,

01:43he's had very different rosters every year. It takes time.

01:47You know, Alabama had four of their five stars were guys who were back.

01:51You know, Iowa State next week, their three best players are all returning players.

01:54Like, yes, a lot of teams are dealing with crazy upheaval, but there are teams that have a lot of back,

02:01and St. John's really only has one key guy back at Edge of Force,

02:04so it's probably not going to happen as fast as people want.

02:07That doesn't mean this team cannot still win big games, and I think they need to, you know,

02:11to me, it's next week, you want to go 2-1. Would you love 3-0? Of course.

02:15But you really want to go 2-1 and build some real momentum.

02:19Yeah, it's a process, but, you know, fans sometimes always very impatient.
