Starring Dick Van Dyke Documentary Movie Trailer HD - Plot synopsis:  'American Masters – Starring Dick Van Dyke' premieres nationwide Friday, December 12 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings), pbs.org/americanmasters and the PBS App. The film premieres ahead of Van Dyke’s 100th birthday on December 13.   Starring Dick Van Dyke chronicles the star’s career over eight decades, beginning with his stint as a radio DJ and slapstick nightclub act and through his breakthrough television gigs and movie roles. In addition to his memorable work, the documentary features rare and never-before-seen footage and performance clips, as well as new, exclusive interviews with Julie Andrews, Carol Burnett, Jim Carrey, Ted Danson, Steve Martin, Conan O’Brien, Martin Short and more. Also featured are archival interviews with Van Dyke’s former costars and colleagues, including Walter Cronkite, Sheldon Leonard, Rose Marie, Mary Tyler Moore and Carl Reiner.

00:11Well, Dick Van Dyke was one of my idols growing up.

00:14Oh, supercalifragilistice!

00:16My friend Dick Van Dyke is an all-round performer.

00:22He can sing, he can dance, he's a comedian, he can do pratfalls and be funny.

00:27And he's also very sexy.

00:36He's always bubbling over.

00:39He'd come in and then do a brilliant fall over an ottoman.

00:43How can you not be seduced by that?

00:45In a lot of ways, he was like a cartoon come to life.

00:49He was funny, even if he wasn't talking.

00:52I mean, he could have done the silent films.

00:54Stan Laurel, Buster Keaton.

00:57I mean, talk about physical comedy and Dick Van Dyke.

01:13The power of Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke together was something we just hadn't seen.

01:18He was a very big part of my childhood.

01:23Dick Van Dyke was on my television when I was a little kid, and he was in the movies that I loved.
