00:00The armed forces is once again in the spotlight as fresh rumors swirl about the whereabouts of whistleblower Orly Gutesa,
00:07prompting the Navy to make it stand loud and clear.
00:10With tensions rising and misinformation spreading like wildfire, the AFP steps forward to set the record straight.
00:17Our Patrick DeJesus tells us more.
00:19The Philippine Navy has once again denied that Orly Gutesa is under their custody or that of the Philippine Marine Corps.
00:30The Philippine Navy stressed that there is no basis and no sufficient evidence to prove that Gutesa, a retired member of the Marines, is under their detention.
00:42They said verification and intelligence operations have already been conducted.
00:47Gutesa was last seen at a Senate hearing in September, appearing as the supposed surprise whistleblower on flood control issues.
00:57The Navy does not and will never harbor, conceal, or shield any individual from the law.
01:05We also underscore that the Philippine Navy and the armed forces of the Philippines as a whole will never compromise its integrity or reputation.
01:14The AFP also said no member of Gutesa's family has reached out to them, prompting the Philippine Navy to issue an appeal to those spreading false information.
01:26To those who continue to fabricate stories and weaponize or use misinformation at the expense of the AFP,
01:35we respectfully appeal, please spare the Navy and the armed forces of the Philippines.
01:42Meanwhile, the AFP reaffirmed its non-partisan and professional stance.
01:49This comes amid renewed calls for the military to withdraw support from the government,
01:54following new allegations against President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who also serves as Commander-in-Chief,
02:01regarding alleged illegal drug use which came from his own sister, Senator Aimee Marcos.
02:08This matter should be resolved through appropriate legal and institutional mechanisms, and not public confrontation.
02:19The AFP emphasized that Filipinos should instead be more vigilant about a neighboring country that wants to sow division among the Filipino people.
