U.S. President Donald Trump addressed McDonald’s owners and suppliers, insisting his administration is making progress in the fight against inflation — but warned that bringing prices down will take time. Despite promoting tax cuts and re-shoring manufacturing, Trump acknowledged Americans are still feeling the impact of rising costs, many driven by his own tariffs. With his approval ratings under pressure, Trump appealed directly to small businesses while offering no new initiatives.

00:00I actually hate to turn that phone, that beautiful song off, but let's get to business, right?
00:10You are with an incredible company, and I'm thrilled to be here with the men and the women
00:16who are really the heart and soul of one of the greatest, most admired, and most successful
00:20companies in the history of the world, frankly. The one and only McDonald's. I've gone there
00:27a couple of times. And I'm honored to stand before you as the very first former McDonald's
00:36fry cook ever to become president of the United States. We have over $17 trillion being invested
00:46in our country in nine months. I want you to know that I'm fighting every day to support
00:51small businesses like yours and the citizens that we all serve.
00:57And together we're fighting for an economy where everyone can win, from the cashier starting
01:02her first job, to a franchisee opening his first location, to the young family in a drive-thru
01:09line. I've been on that line many times.
01:11And you know, I just want to add, this is also the golden age of America, because we are doing better.
01:16My pledge to every family and every small business is that I will not rest until you are richer,
01:23stronger, more successful, happier, until you've gotten a piece of the American dream. Some of you
01:29in this room have really gotten a piece of it, because you made a great decision to go with a
01:34great, great company years ago. And it's really pretty amazing. That begins with making America.
01:41We have to do, the word is affordable. And affordable should be our word, not theirs.
01:47...percent of the entire world population, 70 million meals every day.
01:53And I want to give a very special thanks to McDonald's for slashing prices for your most
01:57popular items, bringing back extra value meals. And I hear you're recommitting to the affordable
02:04options of Americans that we really know and love, all of the items that we love. And
02:10I hear that McDonald's is playing a very big role in that. We're getting prices down for
02:13this country. And there's no better leader or advocate than McDonald's. And I believe
02:19the next time I'll have to be, maybe I'll have to be back here again next year if you get
02:22them down enough, okay?
02:24That's all you have to do for me is get them down enough. We'll come back.
02:28And the people would drive up a little bored in Australia, and it's, you know, it is, I mean,
02:32they're waiting for a hamburger, okay? So they drive up like this.
02:37So we don't have, as I said, the inflation, but our energy prices are way down. And you know,
02:44despite hamburgers being a big business, energy is one business that's bigger. When you get energy
02:49down, everything else is affected. If you start bringing the price of gas, that's like a massive
02:53tax cut.
02:54And that's good for everybody else. As president, I want you to know that I'm fighting every
02:59day to support small businesses like yours. And it's an honor to be with McDonald's. Thank
03:04you very much, everybody. Thank you.
