The Duffer Brothers Saw Sadie Sink’s Potential in ‘Stranger Things’

Sadie Sink appreciates Max and Ross for being willing to play to her strengths and weaknesses as an actress in the show. In this video, the Duffer brothers explain how they saw Sadie Sink’s potential as Max Mayfield in ‘Stranger Things’ and pushed her character even further in Season 4.

00:00I think the actors all influence the characters to certain degrees.

00:05Like, Sadie would be another one in that she's just, she's so incredible as Max,

00:11and we knew what she was capable of.

00:13So when we started working on season four, we went,

00:17we want to give her, like, a big arc and put her through a big journey this season

00:22because we knew Sadie could do it, and we just, she had been in the show,

00:25but we hadn't really challenged her.

00:26So I think more than that, it's us, the actors inspiring us to write for them

00:31and to live, you know, give them everything we can.

00:34I'm super grateful to have worked with directors like Matt and Ross

00:37who just really know their actors and can sometimes see an actor's strengths

00:43before they can for themselves, which I think was the case for me.

00:47They really believed in me at a young age, and, yeah,

00:50I'm just honored that they saw that potential in me.
