00:00Millie says she doesn't remember anything.
00:01We tried very much to answer everything and not leave any loose ends.
00:05That last scene is what we've always envisioned.
00:07Lovely to meet you.
00:08Yes.
00:09What a world you created.
00:10Oh, thank you.
00:11Like, five seasons down.
00:12Do you guys remember life pre-Stranger Things?
00:15I do. I do remember.
00:16Our cast does not...
00:17Well, Millie says she doesn't remember anything before Stranger Things.
00:22But, yeah, I have a vague recollection of life before.
00:26It was a little more depressing.
00:28Yes, I will say.
00:30How does this season five compare to previous seasons for you guys?
00:35It's a different beast in a lot of ways.
00:37But also, it's really pulling from pieces from every season.
00:44Because it really is trying to come full circle.
00:46And it's trying to be like the culmination of all these previous seasons.
00:50So we really looked back at each season and took various elements from them.
00:55And also, we're, in terms of just plot and mythology and resolving mysteries, we're really going back to those early seasons.
01:03So hopefully, you know, if you were to sit down and watch the whole thing through, it really feels like everything just comes full circle.
01:09And is it going to answer all the fans' questions?
01:13Because that's...
01:14You know when you see a show and you're like, oh, but that never got answered.
01:17Like, is it going to do that?
01:19I think so.
01:21I think so.
01:22And hopefully in a satisfying way.
01:23I mean, because, you know, it answers everything about Vecna and Henry and his backstory and the Upside Down and why Will was taken.
01:31And so I think that's a lot of the big ones.
01:34I feel like we tried very much to answer everything and not leave any loose ends.
01:39So as Ross said, you can watch it from beginning to end without it being frustrating.
01:43Because, you know, you have to think about the future and people are going to, you know, who are watching in the future, they won't mind about the delays between seasons because there won't be any delays for them.
01:51They'll just watch it all the way through and you need it to work for those people.
01:54So that's the goal and the hope.
01:56You've obviously been there from the start, of course, because you created this.
01:58So for you, who have you seen really grow the most?
02:03I don't mean physically, because they've obviously all grown physically, but as actors, maybe, and like evolved.
02:10Who have you really seen like that big change in?
02:12That's a good question.
02:14You know, I mean, it's hard to pick out one.
02:16I mean, I think all of the kids, they were so tiny when they started and it was so cute.
02:22But also, they weren't really, they didn't, I mean, they had, a lot of them had been on Broadway, so they were very, they were disciplined.
02:29But in terms of like the craft of acting, you know, they were just kids at that point.
02:34And now as they've grown up, you really see them take this art seriously.
02:39And it's become more and more collaborative with them, which has been such a joy for us.
02:44I mean, season one, it was fun, but it was also like, okay, you're sitting there, you're standing here, you're doing this.
02:48And now we come in and we're going to do a scene or block a scene and whatever.
02:52And they have ideas and we're working with them as peers.
02:55And it's such a joy to see that.
02:58And has the whole thing, how it ends up everything, is it how you imagined it would be when you created this right at the very beginning?
03:07I will say, when we were developing the first season, working on the first season, we were not even sure if people were going to watch it or if we were going to get a season two.
03:18So, you know, it's not, in no way, if you went back and told myself, you know, ten years ago that we were going to have five seasons, I wouldn't have believed you or I would have fainted from the stress and anxiety of that.
03:31So, no, but, you know, at a certain point when we started to go to season two, we started to really think about how the longevity of the show and how we would keep it going.
03:40We started to build out the mythology.
03:42And I honestly can't remember when, but we had the final scene for a really long time.
03:46So that has always been there, which is good because that's given us a North Star.
03:50But season five, even going all the way back to season two, I think it's probably quite a bit different than anything we imagined because you just learn so much from the making of the show.
04:00And it's very much alive.
04:02So it evolves over the number of years.
04:04But that last scene is what we've always envisioned.
04:07Oh, wow.
04:08That's pretty special.
04:09Well, good luck with it.
04:10I'm glad you guys are still sitting together.
04:12You're still like brothers and getting on, hopefully.
04:15It's just for the camera.
04:16It's just for the camera.
