00:00hey friends welcome back now let's say we have transformed our data we have
00:10cleaned our data and now of course the most important part at the end the
00:13visualizing because let's face it at the end of the day the management which
00:18consumes our process data is not interested in our data pipelines and
00:23someone they want to see a really nice looking intuitive report they can use in
00:27order to make data-driven decisions and for that the fabric leverages power bi
00:31as its data visualization tool now for this what we need is we need to refer to
00:37the semantic model of our lake house because remember if I go back inside the
00:42workspace itself we have next to the fabric lake house when we created always
00:47also a sequel endpoint which we talked about and also this semantic model by
00:52the way semantic model is a new fancy term for data sets so whenever you hear
00:57data set or semantic model it is the same but Microsoft has decided to rename it
01:01so now in order to create power bi reports we want to leverage the semantic
01:07model of our lake house now of the time of this recording the default semantic
01:12model which is this one let me just increase the size of the column just in
01:15seconds there it is so the default one has some bugs so this is why I'd like to
01:22create a second semantic model which is based on the default one maybe as soon
01:26as you watch the video this will not be an issue anymore but for me there is an
01:30issue currently that's why I won't use the default one I will first create a new
01:35one which is based on the default and I also show you how that works it's kind of
01:40simple because we go back inside our sequel endpoint in here and then we can go
01:46next to the option under home to the reporting part so if you click on reporting then there's
01:52an option to create a new semantic model which is this one here so let me click this click on new
01:58semantic model for now and then we can specify in this new semantic model what exactly do we
02:04want to include from our original semantic model so if I go in here we know we have a
02:09schema which is dbo and inside the dbo schema we currently only have tables we don't have
02:14created use so I would have to refer to the table section and then I can choose
02:18either individual tables or you also can include all of them from it so if I select
02:22all of them then now all tables are included in my new semantic model and the
02:27only thing missing before I can click on confirm of course is to need give a name
02:32for the semantic model so let's say this is my lake house lh in this case and then
02:38semantic model okay that's the name I give it but of course as I said if you have
02:43some kind of terminology in your company just use this instead so let's click on
02:47confirm for now and then let's just wait until it is created shouldn't take too
02:52long and then we'll see it inside our fabric workspace so okay and the window is
03:01closed so let's go back to our workspace click on a fabric trial workspace in this
03:05case and you can see that now I have a new semantic model which is this one which is
03:09based on the original one so this is a subset in this case it's complete this
03:14one here but it could be a subset of the original semantic model and as I said I
03:17just do this because at the time of recording there is a problem with the
03:21default semantic model that's why I have to create this well new semantic model for
03:25that so when we click on the model itself just to show this to you if I click on
03:30fabric lake house you get this experience here and this is where we can
03:34normally start creating powerbear reports the problem here is currently that you
03:38can see that the tables are not appearing here because there the tables should
03:42appear this is currently not the case for whatever reason I think it's a bug but for
03:46now that's why I chose to create a second model and you've seen how easy is to do
03:52this using the this case SQL endpoint and if I click on this model instead you
03:58should see that now in here I can see the tables right so this actually should be
04:03what the default semantic model looks like but currently the tables are missing for
04:07whatever reason so now in order to create anything here I can either click on one
04:13of the tables for instance I can take this option here and this allows me here to
04:16really create a normal table so as you can see here I can create a table I can
04:21also go in here and select only specific columns so I can remove columns from here and
04:25create my table so that's simply a normal table I can create and when I'm done with
04:30this for a specific table I can then go to export here and then I can either export
04:34an Excel file PDF file or also PowerPoint Word file and so on so these export
04:40options are available for me for a specific table so this can be helpful of
04:44course if you want to just export data from Power BI because in the past you
04:47probably also know that exporting Power BI data is not that simple but here for
04:51this semantic model based on this lake house this for instance can be done
04:54quite easily using this export option here so this is one way to visualize the
04:58data but of course that's a kind of simple visualization because it's only a
05:01table even though oftentimes people still want to have tables and this could be an
05:06option to do that so let me just untake this for now like this and go back into
05:11the original view this is also this is the table option to export the data from one
05:16specific table now what if you would like to create rather a Power BI report or
05:22let's just use AI for us to generate a Power BI report this is possible if we go
05:28to this explore data option so if you click on a drop down here there are three
05:32options either auto-generated report create a blank report or create a page
05:36in a report so let's start with the first two the auto-creator report and
05:40create a blank report now for the auto creation this is actually where more or less AI
05:45kicks in it allows us to simply click on a few columns and then the AI will try
05:51to build the best kind of report based on the data we have so let me show this
05:55to you let's do it together click on auto create report take this option and
05:59then we just wait and now we need to pre-select some data let's click on
06:03pre-select data and here as you can see here let me just close this for now now we
06:08can select data from either one of those tables can be Pokemon update was
06:12selected and there was total and type 1 selected right so these are
06:15the two options in here of course if you say I don't like this you can also
06:19untake these two options from here and say instead I would like to have PBI
06:23training and from training I'd like to have the category I'd like to have the
06:26amounts and maybe also I like to see the region click on region and you can see
06:31that now Power BI is trying to use those columns which we provide from the
06:34table in order to visualize it you can of course also provide columns from several
06:38tables but in this case the data is not connected not linked that's why it
06:41doesn't make any sense that's why I do not do that now this is the report
06:45which is created and of course if we like the reports that's fine if not we can
06:50edit this report and there are various options the first one of course is if
06:54you hover over one of the visuals and click on this option here personalized
06:57visual for instance this one here you can say that you want to change the
07:01visualization type for instance I'd like to see it as this kind of bar chart and
07:04you can see that now it's turned around or you say I don't want to see the sum of the
07:08amounts but instead I would like to see a different kind of value in here and I
07:13just choose for instance the sales numbers so click on sales and you see
07:16that now I have sales numbers in here so this allows us to well personalize the
07:21complete greater reporting here but this is one option or of course you can also
07:25export the data if you want to do that it's also an option but this is just one
07:31way to edit the data the other way would be to go to edit up here so if you go to
07:36edit here then you can edit the data but this means that's important to know if
07:40you switch to edit mode then this drag and drop and automatically creating
07:45reports will not work anymore right you then don't have the option to simply
07:49click on up on specific columns here and then the report gets created this will be
07:54completely then be removed and you are on your own so to speak so these are the
07:59options you have right but let's say I'm fine with this report for now and I
08:03would like to save it then all you need to do is you simply go to the save option
08:07here click on save and then you can specify okay I would like to save it in
08:10this workspace and this is in this case let's say this is my auto report so
08:16that's the name of the report or reports and then I click on save and this just
08:21means that now this report has been saved and we can see this if I go inside the
08:27fabric trial workspace then now we have a new report which is this auto report right and
08:31if I let me disclose it for now if you want to reopen it you can click there
08:35right and then you are still in here and you can continue editing it if you want
08:38to do that so this is the first option to query report so this is a little bit
08:42supported by AI but of course it's not perfect and we can still easy manually
08:47edit it if you want to do that so the second option of course which is also
08:52available for the power be experts is if I go back to my original
08:57lacrosimatic model in here so this one here which we created and we go to the
09:03drop down and choose instead create a blank report so if I create a blank report
09:07click this option and of course now we are in an experience as most of you are
09:12familiar with but of course in the browser and this allows us then to choose
09:15any kind of table here and get started from scratch so on a blank canvas we can
09:19then choose any kind of data let's say one more time I'd like to see let's go with
09:23the Pokemon this time and then I have the epic points and I have a type 1 right
09:27and now I have here my bar chart for instance right and then of course I can
09:31also change this change the visual in this case let's say I like to have it as
09:35this kind of bar chart and it's like that and then for instance I could say I'd
09:39like to see whether the Pokemon is legendary or not click on legendary and
09:42then click on in this case let's say the type 2 here and you can see here
09:48some of those are false actually you should go with type 1 probably because not all
09:52Pokemon have a type 2 but then you can see that now I have a table in here um
09:55which shows me simply whether type 1 is legendary or not and of course I can
09:59drag the columns around and I have here my table as well right and I can of
10:03course add several columns and so on so this of course is not the most perfect
10:07report and beautiful report I get that but the main idea is to show you that you
10:10can easily create Power BI reports based on the semantic model from the
10:13lake house itself right do it manually here and then choose additional
10:17functionalities adding text box adding headers and so on all these options are
10:21available in here still of course the functionality is limited it's not as
10:25well rich as in Power BI desktop so if you want to create Power BI reports and use
10:30the full capabilities of Power BI you still would use Power BI desktop to do that
10:34but for now that is totally fine so let's click on save option here save this
10:39report and yes I'd like to save it also in my fabric trial workspace that is fine and
10:43this is now my manual report so manual report that's the name I give it and
10:50that's fine and then I click on save and that just means that now this report has
10:54also been saved so now if I would close it let me just close those two go to the
11:00fabric workspace in here I would also find here down there the manual report and
11:03the same is true here if I click the report I can anytime go there go to edit right
11:08and then I can continue working on it if I want to do that so that's it for creating
11:13those two reports in Power BI either by automatically create them or by manually
11:18creating from scratch both as possible directly here in the source so let me just close this
11:23for now and show you one last thing which is also kind of new which is explore this
11:28data so for all the people who are not building reports but who maybe want to have a look what
11:34the data actually looks like what's inside they can go to explore this data this option
11:38here and then in here you can see that you can drag elements into in this case or select
11:44elements here and you would see it as a table in the matrix as well as visually in here so
11:49for instance if I go one more time to the PBI training and I choose I would like to see
11:53the category and like to see the amounts so where is it the amount there for instance like
11:59that I can see here's a table and here is the visualization right you can also make this bigger
12:04make this smaller and you can also change the visualization type for instance to something else
12:08so let's say this case the donut chart just to show you that would also work right so this is also
12:14a way to visualize the data quite easily without knowing any kind of advanced power bi you simply
12:18click the options in here and then you can visualize what's the data looks like so it's kind of
12:22a quick way to to see what's inside what's the data look like especially also maybe interesting
12:27to all the data engineers who well created the sql queries and so on or pi smart notebooks and then
12:33stored the data in the lake house and just want to quickly see whether the data actually is exactly
12:38as they expected and if you want to save this is also possible click on the save option here
12:43and this exploration in fact workspace this is a new kind of a data type as you can see at
12:49exploration and click on save and if we do this and then we just close this option here this
12:56preview and go back to our fabric workspace we would see that now we also have another element
13:02here which looks like that which is the exploration as i said it's kind of a new item also in power bi
13:07but this could also be available and we can also open this again and also edit it later on if you
13:13want to do this so these are three options we can visualize data including power bi inside box of
13:19fabric quite easily directly here inside the browser so that's it for this video hopefully you enjoyed it
13:25if you've got questions let me know otherwise thanks for watching and i'll see you in the next video
13:29until then
13:30bless guys
13:30you
