00:00Ayon sa Department of Agriculture, o DA,
00:31Welcome sa Rise and Shine, Pilipinas, sir.
00:33Good morning. Maraming salamat for inviting me to your program.
00:37Well, thank you for joining us, Sir Ace.
00:39Tell us more about Rural Rising Philippines.
00:42Yes, Rural Rising Philippines is an accidental advocacy, Diane and Joshua.
00:46It was built accidentally during the pandemic.
00:49Nag-post kami na isang post tungkol sa mga gulay na tinatapon sa Baguio City where we live.
00:55Nag-viral po yun.
00:57And suddenly, farmers started asking us for help.
01:00We started bringing the produce to Metro Manila.
01:02And before we knew it, we built a group of 50,000 people na pwedeng tumulong sa mga farmers.
01:08So, itong viral post nyo po that turned into a mission.
01:13Can you share more about this again para malaman ng ating mga kares?
01:17Yes, yung post nag-viral.
01:19But the content was created by the farmers.
01:21When they found out na we were able to help them with that first rescue,
01:26they started sending us pictures and videos, yung mga gulay na tinatapon.
01:31And then when we posted this material on social media,
01:34biglang nag-viral and people started saying,
01:36I would like to help too.
01:38Gusto ko tumulong.
01:39And then, nangyari po is we started gathering funds from our members
01:43and then giving to the farmers at three times the price.
01:46And then when we bring the produce to Metro Manila,
01:49we sell it at half the price ng mga grocery stores.
01:52It's saving the farmers and saving consumers.
01:55Okay.
02:02Now, how do you make this advocacy sustainable, sir?
02:05It's really all about the stories that we make.
02:07We're a family, so we're using our own money.
02:10But we always say that laging may grupo at laging may mga organisasyon
02:17more than what we can do.
02:19So we're setting the example lang for what they can do better.
02:22Okay. Sabi mo nga, ikasabihan yung, iparuri mo na yan, no?
02:26Yes.
02:43Okay.
02:44And what we do, we write about his problem,
02:47and we gather support for that produce,
02:49and then we buy it immediately.
02:51It's called the Rescue Buy.
02:53Okay. That's the Rescue Buy Program.
03:12I think the beautiful part of all of this is that
03:14most people are buying not for themselves, but to give.
03:18Napakaraming member would say,
03:19I'd like to buy,
03:26And we do that.
03:27We become a conduit for good.
03:30So nakatulong ka na sa farmer,
03:32nakatulong ka pa sa mga nagugutom,
03:34mga hayop at taong.
03:35Stray animals.
03:36Stray animals.
03:37We're helping those.
03:39Iba-ibang mga animal shelters.
03:41We're rotating among mga 50 shelters every month.
03:45Wow.
03:45Okay.
03:46Alright.
03:46But sa inyo po, sa datos po ninyo,
03:49I mean from your,
03:50what you can remember,
03:53Right now, we're working with close to 4,500 farmers.
03:56Wow.
03:56And we have rescued more than 5 million,
03:59or closing on on 5 million kilos of vegetables
04:01that had otherwise been thrown away.
04:04Imagine 5 million vegetables.
04:06Okay.
04:07Saan ang mga areas po,
04:08normally,
04:09yung mga farmers na titulungan ninyo?
04:10Tsaka paano yung logistics?
04:12Sumara talagang malayo.
04:13So we focus mainly on northern Luzon.
04:15So mga provinces of Neva Ecija,
04:18Vizcaya,
04:19Ilocos,
04:20Isabela,
04:21yung mga talagang malalayo
04:22na ang mga produce mahirap makarating.
04:24But we've helped in Mindoro,
04:26in Guimaras,
04:28and Mindanao,
04:29sa nagiging viral.
04:31What's really beautiful about this,
04:32recently,
04:33napunta po kami sa GCash platform,
04:36which means that we can now serve
04:37in Metro Manila,
04:40yung mga GCash sites that we open.
04:42So we have 3 sites in Metro Manila.
04:44We can now dispatch vegetables
04:46in those 3 sites
04:47using GCash.
04:50And what's beautiful is that
04:51if we open GCash platforms
04:52in the provinces,
04:54then pwede kami magbenta
04:55sa mga tao around
04:56a 6-kilometer radius
04:57of every site we open.
04:59Magiging viral and nationwide.
05:02Okay.
05:02So,
05:03again po,
05:04paano po,
05:05like for example,
05:06ako magsasaka,
05:07nagkaroon ako ng struggle
05:08sa mga,
05:09sa produce ko,
05:11paano po ako makikipag-ugnain
05:12sa rural rising?
05:13Yes,
05:13sa social media page namin,
05:15Joshua,
05:15rural rising PH.
05:17And then,
05:18usually,
05:18hingi kami ng picture
05:19ng gulay mo,
05:21at saka picture mo,
05:23and we write about you.
05:24And then,
05:25people now come to help.
05:26So,
05:27before 24 hours,
05:28is up,
05:29bago maitapon yung gulay,
05:30we would go to you and say,
05:32kukunin na namin yan,
05:33lahat,
05:34and then,
05:34anong presyo mo?
05:35Kaling, ano?
05:36And then,
05:36usually,
05:37yung presyo niya,
05:37mababa,
05:38dahil yung presyo
05:39mandated ng middleman,
05:40we pay double the price,
05:42and then we bring it
05:43to Metro Manila.
05:44Tapos,
05:45pagdating sa pagbintahan,
05:46half the price na?
05:47We pay to half the price na,
05:48pagkamahal po ng gulay sa Manila.
05:50There are nine layers
05:51of middleman.
05:52We effectively
05:53kind of remove those layers,
05:55and allow the consumer
05:56to buy at cheaper prices.
05:58Kaling, ano?
05:59Oo,
05:59please do invite all our viewers
06:01to support the advocacy
06:03of,
06:04We'd like to invite
06:05everyone na nanonood
06:06to join Rural Rising PH
06:08on Facebook and Instagram.
06:10Marami po kayong
06:11mga story
06:11yung mababasa doon,
06:13marami pong chances
06:14bumili ng murang gulay,
06:15at marami yung pagkakataon po
06:17na tumulong
06:18sa mga dog shelters
06:19at mga iba-ibang
06:20komunidad
06:21na nangangailangan
06:22ng fresh gulay.
06:23Mahal po ng gulay ngayon,
06:25at kailangan po ninyong
06:27tumulong
06:27sa mga nangangailangan,
06:29and this is the way to do it.
06:30Alright,
06:31thank you so much.
