00:00Welcome Vijay to INS. It's absolutely a pleasure to have you here with us.
00:04Thank you. Thank you so much.
00:05Firstly, tell me, I mean, it's been so hyped for movies on social media.
00:11How does it feel to be just everywhere on social media right now?
00:14Am I everywhere on social media?
00:16Yes.
00:16Oh, lovely. I'm very happy to know.
00:18We've made a lot of love with my heart.
00:21And if you get this kind of love with the trailer,
00:24I hope that the audience will reach the theatre and give it to the film.
00:30Because it will become a big film.
00:32Right, right. So tell us, how did this collaboration happen?
00:35I mean, Manish is a first time producer.
00:37Yeah.
00:38And when you got a call, probably Manish's team must have called you.
00:42So, did you think that you didn't call for styling and suddenly realized that it was for movie?
00:49This script came to me.
00:51Yes.
00:54So, this script is a story.
00:56Vibhu, who is the director of the film,
00:58is my senior FTI.
01:00They made a film in a diploma film when they were in film school,
01:05which I saw when I went there as a student.
01:08The film called Chabiwali Pocket Watch.
01:11It was a 20-minute film.
01:13And when this script came,
01:16the flavor of the film,
01:20and the poet's story,
01:22it reminded me of the film.
01:24So, I thought it was the same director.
01:25So, he has expanded the universe very intricately.
01:28I've already expanded.
01:29And I'm thinking about a central character.
01:33So, I think that in my mind,
01:36the script came to me as a central character.
01:38In 2022, this script came to me and in 2023, we shot it.
01:47Sorry, I'm wrong.
01:48But in 2024, we shot it?
01:50I don't know.
01:52Some time.
01:54So, when this script came,
01:58I had a lot of difficult and dark roles.
02:06So, it was such a script where it was very simple, subtle, loving, warm and poetic things.
02:18So, I thought that I didn't do this kind of role.
02:21So, this is an opportunity for me,
02:23that I can put myself in this role.
02:27So, I got a little bit of relief.
02:29And the audience who were worried about my negative roles,
02:32I got a little bit of relief.
02:34And I got a little bit of relief.
02:36So, I was scared that I was scared.
02:39Right.
02:40So, like you rightly mentioned over here,
02:42was it like a conscious decision,
02:44that I thought that you had negative images, negative characters, portrayals,
02:47a breakthrough and you wanted to also show the audiences what versatile of an actor are you?
02:54Yeah.
02:55It was a break that I wanted from negative parts because, you know, it tends to kind of weigh down on you.
03:03If you go anywhere, people say,
03:06we hated you in that film,
03:08we hated you but you are a brilliant actor.
03:10So, I thought that I would be able to tell people about this hate.
03:13Love me.
03:14or I took a little bit of a break from other people.
03:16So, it was IC 814 or the war,
03:18or the war,
03:19or the war,
03:20or the war,
03:21or the war as I was working on.
03:23I was taking a break from that one.
03:26Although, this is a sweet romantic film out-and-out,
03:31It is also love.
03:33It is also love.
03:34It is also love.
03:35It is also love.
03:37It is also love.
03:38It is also love.
03:39It is love and love.
03:40So, you know,
03:41it is love and love.
03:42I didn't have to explore thematically as an actor, so is it going to be in Hindi?
03:46Yes, do any actor.
03:48Yes, yes.
03:51So, you know when you say that you portray such soft characters or yet such impactful characters, right?
03:57And you also portray negative characters, which genre is more difficult for you as an actor?
04:05Anything that you do new tends to take a bit of a time to kind of adjust and it can be difficult.
04:11I remember when, you know, Sujita cast me in pink.
04:15It was a very powerfully written but dangerously written scene where, you know, it's a very gruesome scene in a car with Tafsi and other two boys.
04:26I couldn't ever imagine myself pulling that scene off because I didn't have it in me, I felt.
04:33But, you know, you're a trained actor and you're supposed to deliver and the brief from the director at that time was Sujita and Anirudh Roy Chowdhury,
04:41the director, said that if someone comes to see you, you're going to kill me, then you haven't done it properly.
04:49I think he killed me but people have said he wanted to kill me.
04:52So, sometimes I take very stupid challenges also.
04:56Here, I would say that the challenge was to pull off such poetic dialogues and to stand in front of Nasiruddin Shah, the legend and to not shiver and to be believable and to convey all the emotions correctly.
05:18So, yeah, it was a new challenge. So, it was a new challenge. So, whenever you switch something new or change something new,
05:26then it can be a bit challenging.
05:28But then it comes to fun and then you have to do something new.
05:33Right.
05:34My next step is to do comedy. So, now I will try to go to comedy.
05:40Okay, okay.
05:42You know, as an artist, right, it is said that when you do an emotional scene on camera, you have to recollect something that's really broken your heart.
05:49And that is how you actually portray, be it in theatre or be it on screen.
05:53Yeah.
05:54So, when you portrayed in this character especially, when I am in the trailer, there is a lot of hurt also, there is a little heartbreak also.
06:01So, do you kind of recollect any kind of heartbreak or something like that that is…
06:05I think these are techniques that actors use when they are starting out.
06:10These are very workshop, acting school, acting theatre exercises and early work that you are doing, you are trying to be real and sometimes only life can make you feel a certain way.
06:23But with some experience and with some understanding of life and overall, you know, lack of judgements against anything or anybody, you tend to kind of relate with everything.
06:34Right.
06:34Even if it is not yours, even if it is not lived in, even if it is not connected to your life or even if it is something that you have never seen before.
06:43You tend to use your imagination, you tend to use stories of other people, you tend to borrow from…
06:48The worst thing that you can do is to borrow from other films but people do that as well.
06:53But to kind of tap on to some side of you that can, you know, bring you to that moment of truth when you are portraying, especially between action and cut.
07:05So, I feel that there is no performance in my home.
07:08The camera, when it rolls, when it rolls, if it comes, it's a grace.
07:12Right. And how was it working with Fatima? I mean, it's a very, honestly speaking, it's a very conventional jodi job.
07:20None of the audience expected you both to be casted together but on screen you guys are, you know, actually exuding a lot of charm and magic.
07:28So, tell me, how was it working with her?
07:30It was a sheer delight to work with her. To be very honest, she's a very real person, a very capable actor.
07:37At the same time, extremely fun-loving and chill person and extremely sincere. Like, she has to get it right and she has to do her best.
07:47She has to give her more than 100% and so these are qualities that we both share and sense of humor which is a bit twisted.
07:56We both have the same. So,
07:58We both have the same. So, we both have the same. We both have the same.
08:05When we talk about chemistry, it's so unsaid. It's a very old world, old school, old,
08:15So, it's like a romance. It's like a romance where, you know, it's less or less.
08:22So, that kind of layered, that kind of holding back, I particularly enjoy in my performance and she also explored that.
08:31But she's a breeze to work with. She's one of the most fun-loving person I've met.
08:35Right. Also, talking about your equation with Manish Manotra, right, he's the debutant as a producer, right?
08:41Yeah, yeah. So, that's okay. So, I wanted to know, when you were there on set,
08:46as a producer, were you looking at your styling?
08:52Because he will probably have a feedback to give. So, how was your, it's like too many, he's played two roles.
09:00Yeah. I'm sure he must have observed your style statement as well.
09:03Yeah, yeah. So, how was it on set?
09:05He did, he did really upped my fashion style game.
09:10I saw your dubbing post as well yesterday.
09:12Dubbing post, yeah.
09:13Dubbing post, yeah.
09:14I'm dubbing too, Manish Manotra.

09:53you know because he understands cinema yeah right and also I mean heading to the last question your

10:49final question um this year has been pretty much very difficult for Bollywood especially for Bollywood
10:53fans right especially with Darmendra sir also what do you have to wish him uh how would you wish him
10:59if I really have to stay true to my answer I would say we should not talk about him because all they
11:06require is uh is privacy and even talking me talking about it would bring attention to them and to see
11:13Sunny Paji holded hands and asking press to give them privacy really broke my heart and we should stay
11:19away from yeah and finally what would you want to tell your fans and fans of the movie as well I mean
