00:00The second day of the 2025 Zagreb Grand Prix

00:03promised to be a spectacle for the judo family to enjoy.

00:07Inside the arena, the home fans were hopeful of some Croatian success.

00:12The crowd were treated to an opening ceremony

00:14consisting of a traditional Nagino-Karta demonstration

00:17from two local young judoka.

00:24Followed by speeches from Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia,

00:28Mr. Andrzej Plenković.

00:30IJF Head Sport Director, Mr. Vladimir Barta.

00:33Deputy Mayor of the city of Zagreb, Dr. Luka Kulajet.

00:36And President of the Croatian Judo Federation, Dr. Sander Ciorak.

00:41At under 63 kilograms, Gili Sharia won her first Grand Prix gold medal

00:46after outworking her opponent.

00:52Croatia Minister of Tourism and Sport, Mr. Tonsi Glavina,

00:55was on hand to award the medals.

00:57The under 73 kilogram category final

01:01saw Giovanni Esposito end things in an instant.

01:05After a failed attack from his Spanish opponent,

01:07a superb counter scored Ippon.

01:13He was awarded his medal by Mr. Albano Carisi,

01:17IJF ambassador.

01:17I think it's a really good city,

01:23many kids that follow judo and a beautiful country.

01:27Last year I took a silver medal

01:29and this year I want to come back at home with a gold medal

01:32and this year it's happened.

01:33At under 70 kilograms,

01:39a dominant-looking Tanaka Shiho showed why she is world champion,

01:44expertly dispatching Clément's aim of France

01:46to take the gold before greeting her local fans.

01:49She was awarded her medal

01:55by City of Zagreb deputy mayor, Dr. Luca Korlayet.

02:00Having won the world championships,

02:01this was a tournament where I really felt

02:04that as world champion,

02:05I simply couldn't afford to lose.

02:08At under 81 kilograms,

02:09it was Arno Oregba who dominated the final.

02:13The Frenchman eventually overcame

02:14Bernd Fasching of Austria,

02:16throwing into a hold down

02:17to end the contest.

02:22The medals were awarded

02:23by Paris 2024 Olympic champion,

02:26Miss Barbara Matic.

02:30A strong showing from the home fighters

02:33produced some great judo throughout the second day.

02:37Topped off with a superb bronze medal for Eva Oberand,

02:40wonderful hip movement and control of her opponent

02:43resulted in a thundering Ippon,

02:45thoroughly enjoyed by Matic,

02:47the crowd

02:48and the Prime Minister.
