00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03You will be creating a street world look that speaks to your brand as a designer.
00:08I just don't think, like, a cool girl would dress that way.
00:12I definitely respect Christian's opinions, but I think my look looks amazing.
00:17I've been on the bottom the last two challenges, and Vijay keeps implying that I cannot do this without my brother.
00:23I have to prove to the judges that I am here to stay, that I am here for a reason.
00:27Bro, after last week, we both need to redeem ourselves.
00:30Seriously.
00:31You get a little in your feelings when the criticism comes.
00:34No, I'm taking it in.
00:36It does not feel good to get clocked once again by the Law Roach.
00:41Congratulations, Belania. You are the winner.
00:44Thank you, thank you.
00:46Yuchen, Joan, unfortunately, you were our least favorite looks.
00:50Joan, I just think that you made something that looks so old.
00:54She could go praise the Lord in this outfit.
00:56Yuchen, I am so mad as who over this look because you are a streetwear designer.
01:01I almost want to, like, jump out the chair and beat you up for making this look.
01:05A stake for the winner is $200,000, a spread in Elle magazine, and a life-changing mentorship with the CFDA.
01:15This is Project One Way.
01:17Joan, Yuchen, we made our decision.
01:27Joan, we asked you to take us to the streets, but you took us to the sanctuary.
01:34I'm feeling bad.
01:35My look spoke to who I am as a designer, but maybe I should have listened to Christian and Jesus.
01:42Yuchen, this was your challenge to shine, but give us nothing new.
01:48I'm sorry.
01:49I feel so disappointed because streetwear is supposed to be my challenge.
01:54I feel like I disappoint everyone, especially Laura.
01:57I'm sorry.
02:01Joan.
02:02I'm sorry you're out.
02:11Yuchen, that means you're in.
02:13You can leave the runway.
02:14Sure.
02:15Oh, no worries, sweetie.
02:17Oh, no, it's okay.
02:19It's okay.
02:20I'm sorry.
02:21You're so cute.
02:23You're so sweet.
02:25You're so sweet.
02:26Aw, the babies.
02:31I just wanted to say we all think that you're a great designer.
02:35And, you know, this was not your week.
02:37This was not your challenge.
02:38You will go back to your business.
02:40Yes.
02:41You dress amazing women.
02:42And I thank you guys for this opportunity.
02:44I am one of the older designers, you know.
02:47I'm 60.
02:48I'm fabulous.
02:49Yeah.
02:50You are.
02:51You can definitely walk out of here with your head up high.
02:54Yes.
02:55Get to hear a bit of zen.
02:57Auf Wiedersehen.
02:59Mwah.
03:00Thank you, Heidi.
03:01All the best to you, Joan.
03:02It's been a pleasure.
03:03Bye.
03:04Bye, John.
03:05Bye.
03:06You better work for 60, Mama.
03:08Okay.
03:09Oh!
03:10She's coming from my job.
03:16I just feel so bad that Ms. Joan is going home.
03:20I take it personally.
03:21I feel like John has to go home because of me.
03:23It's okay, baby.
03:24It's okay.
03:25Oh, Ms. Joan.
03:27I'm going home.
03:28Stop it.
03:29No.
03:30What are you apologizing about?
03:32You are just starting your career.
03:34Oh, my lord.
03:35Yuchen, come on now.
03:37Aw.
03:38You have another opportunity to show them who you are.
03:41It's been a pleasure meeting all you guys and working with you.
03:47And you're so talented.
03:48I don't want to cry.
03:50Not my auntie.
03:53I love her.
03:55Ms. Joan, you are the joy of the season.
04:00Saying bye to Ms. Joan is one of the hardest things to do.
04:05She is one of those people that I connected in a deeper level.
04:10She's a very hard-working person.
04:11She's kind.
04:12And I'm going to miss her.
04:14It makes my heart full to even be in the room with you guys.
04:20Ms. Joan.
04:21She's got that just love in her soul.
04:24And she's offered me a lot of love and a lot of safe space.
04:28And I'm going to miss my little safe space.
04:31Kristen.
04:32Joan.
04:33They said I took them to church, Kristen.
04:36Not to the street.
04:38See, that's because you weren't there at Moves with me to stop me from buying that bathroom.
04:43Call me anytime, okay?
04:45I sure will.
04:48Project Runway saved my life, y'all.
04:50Joan, Joan, Joan.
04:51I came in this competition to prove to myself that I deserve to be here, that I'm strong,
04:58and I'm proud of myself.
04:59Ms. Joan, child.
05:02Mm, mm, mm.
05:03I left it all on the runway.
05:10Shine, shine, shine, shine.
05:15Flex with it.
05:16Don't get it.
05:17No limit.
05:18Yeah, you know I never stop.
05:20It's six of us now, so the competition is getting steep.
05:24I must make it to the final five.
05:27Oh, God.
05:28Wow.
05:29Oh, my gosh.
05:30I could use a nice.
05:31Oh, my God.
05:32How do you feel?
05:33I feel okay.
05:34I feel like I didn't really get a win.
05:35Congratulations.
05:36And I'm like, uh, I don't really feel like it.
05:38Last challenge, Lost said that Belana had an issue with her body language when she's being criticized.
05:43When you are being critiqued, your body language gets a little nasty.
05:47I was not doing that.
05:48Now you were.
05:49Wait.
05:50I agree with you, but I have to tell the foundation first.
05:54This is my creative process.
05:58This is my creative process.
06:00She's like.
06:01I don't know if that's what I was like.
06:02Is that how I look?
06:03Belana, I love you, girl.
06:04But we're going to work on the attitude, girl.
06:05Hey, don't like people tell me what to do.
06:06Are you guys ready for the next challenge?
06:07I'm the only one that hasn't won.
06:08You're the only one who hasn't won.
06:09I was so close last week to take that win home, which means now I can just taste the
06:31win for this next week.
06:32So leading this challenge, you're going to win it.
06:35Let's see if he can do it without his brother's help.
06:42Let's go.
06:43Let's go.
06:44Let's go.
06:45Let's go.
06:46Go.
06:47Christian.
06:48Oh, Heidi.
06:49How are you feeling?
06:50Like I'm ready for some horsing around.
06:54Well, giddy up.
06:56Let's bring in those designers.
06:59Woo.
07:00Wow.
07:01Oh my God.
07:02Bringing me back.
07:03Oh, he needs to step stool.
07:08That's a big horse.
07:09Chiquito.
07:10This is going to take a hot minute.
07:12Oh.
07:13I missed it.
07:14Yee to the ha.
07:15You really get your groin out there.
07:17Yeah.
07:18Well, as you know in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
07:28What started out as 12 designers is now down to the dirty half dozen.
07:33Mm-hmm.
07:34Mm-hmm.
07:35For this next challenge, it's all about Western flair.
07:39Not only is pop culture obsessed with all things country, from Yellowstone to the Queen
07:44Bee herself, Cowboy Carter, but runways across the world are saddling up to fresh takes on
07:50classic country Western styles, fabrication, and design.
07:54So for this next challenge, you will be tapping into the zeitgeist and creating a look that
08:00is your take on Western chic.
08:03Western is one of the challenges that Antonio and I are so excited to have in the competition.
08:08I mean, I basically live with a cowboy.
08:10I love my cowboy hat.
08:12I love my cowboy boot.
08:13His closet, it's literally all Western.
08:16Shaps, like leather jackets.
08:18This could be by wind.
08:19You have sunrise to sunset to complete your look.
08:24Half of us are gone, and now another one-day challenge is going to decide.
08:29The final five.
08:30The anxiety levels are ramping up, like...
08:35All right, good luck, designers.
08:36Christian, should we mosey?
08:39Thanks, divas.
08:40Mwah!
08:47Oh, God.
08:48This place.
08:49I'd love, like, a burgundy leather.
08:52I know that a lot of designers are going to the leather section because, yes, it's a Western chic fashion challenge.
08:59And to me, why would I go there if all of you are already going there?
09:05Next!
09:06You're doing...
09:07How is this Western?
09:09You'll see.
09:10Oh.
09:11Styling killer.
09:12Like, I just don't understand how vinyl can be Western.
09:15Sway, sway, sway, sway.
09:17This week, the pressure is on.
09:19I have to win a challenge.
09:21What am I going to do?
09:22So far in the competition, I've used a lot of color.
09:25I've used a lot of print.
09:26And I'm like, you know what?
09:27I'm going to shock everyone, and I'm going to do white.
09:30I can do a mini skirt with French.
09:31I can do my jacket crop with French.
09:33Cuanto vale esta?
09:35It was, like, calling me.
09:36I was like...
09:37Okay, this is cool.
09:40I don't know too much about Western culture.
09:43Do you know what a lasso is?
09:44Lasso?
09:45No.
09:46This looks like Christmas.
09:48Do not get this.
09:50This challenge is very personal for me because Antoni and I are from Northern Mexico.
09:56When I was three, I remember coming into America in our cowboy boots.
10:01So, for this look, I really want to lean into a Western indigenous vibe.
10:06It's in my roots, and it's in my DNA.
10:09And that's why I need to find the perfect fabric because I have to deliver.
10:19All right.
10:22I love my fabric.
10:24Your fabric loves you.
10:26Guys, I'm putting the interfacing by the muslin, okay?
10:30Getting into the workroom, I automatically just go straight to cutting my fabric.
10:34Because I really want to figure out what I'm going to make for under this coat now.
10:39I got this beautiful leather, but I don't have much of it.
10:42So, I have to be really careful in how I use this leather.
10:46And at this point, I have to make something so innovative and amazing to be able to win this challenge.
10:52Oh, .
10:58Clearly, you can interface on leather.
11:01What?
11:02Oh, .
11:04I just up my fabric.
11:06It burned it.
11:07Stop!
11:08Stop.
11:09Oh, no.
11:10Like, I don't know what to do.
11:11I'm freaking out.
11:12I have no backup.
11:13Holy shit.
11:18It burned it.
11:19Holy shit.
11:20I haven't really, like, messed up throughout this whole competition.
11:23And then this happens to me.
11:25I cannot believe I just did this.
11:28He interfaced almost all his fabrics for some reason.
11:32But leather already has a body.
11:35So, why would you interface a leather?
11:38Wait.
11:39That looks cool, though.
11:41Use that as a top.
11:42It could even be a dress, bitch.
11:44The burning on Jesus' leather is giving kind of an armpit kind of energy.
11:50Okay.
11:51I'm going to be honest with you.
11:53It looks like pit stains.
11:55Because of the coloring.
11:57Are you going to treat it of some sort?
12:01Looks like boob sweat.
12:03Looks like boob sweat.
12:04Oh, .
12:06I trust Ethan's judgment, so am I screwed?
12:10At this point, there's nothing I can do.
12:13I just have to make it work.
12:19Hello.
12:20Hi, everybody.
12:21Ooh, should we go here?
12:23I'm doing these front panels.
12:25I am making a weaving wear leather gown.
12:28She literally is going to look like a python.
12:31We love like a little snake in the grass.
12:33I grew up on a farm and-
12:35Did you really?
12:36You know, we had snakes and-
12:37You grew up on a farm?
12:38I grew up on country western films and I literally grew up on a farm.
12:42And these films surround themselves with powerful female energy.
12:47And I'm trying to pull that energy into my clothes.
12:50Yeehaw.
12:51I'm making a two-piece denim western inspired set with a cotton button down.
12:58Similar to what you just said.
13:00It's not.
13:01I promise it's not.
13:02It's going to look totally different.
13:03All right.
13:04Are you feeling good?
13:05You won the last challenge.
13:06I feel like a disciplined child, though.
13:08What did Law say?
13:09My body language is disrespectful when I'm getting a fatigue.
13:12So I have to be sharp.
13:14After getting called out about my attitude last week, it's very, very important to me to show the judges that I am an image.
13:20I need to leave it in the workroom and not bring it on stage.
13:27We're fringing?
13:29Yeah.
13:30You're going to fringe this whole thing?
13:32For this challenge, I want it to be a little unexpected, but still western chic.
13:37Yes.
13:38I am making a futuristic vinyl fringe dress.
13:41How are you going to do this?
13:45Hmm.
13:46That's a good cross shirt.
13:47I'm going to do a leather jacket crop.
13:50It's going to have a mini skirt that I'm going to fringe.
13:53Don't you think that it's, like, kind of a little bit done?
13:57Mm-hmm.
13:58He's right.
13:59It's just white leather jacket, a white leather skirt.
14:01So that's why I want the details to really stand out.
14:04I'm the only one that hasn't had a win.
14:06I've been on the top, but this close to winning.
14:08And I know that the techniques that I have in my brain can really take this look to the next level and win this challenge.
14:16What did you do?
14:17What is this?
14:18It was a mistake.
14:19Oh.
14:20I tried to interface my leather and then burn.
14:23I think maybe the burning technique is kind of interesting.
14:28Maybe you do more to the skirt.
14:31Thank God.
14:33Work it hard.
14:34So I'm making this dress.
14:35Yeah.
14:36I wanted to make it all sequins.
14:37Mm-hmm.
14:38And I'm going to have, like, you know, a little bit dripping on here.
14:40I can buy this at the mall right now.
14:43I just wanted to take this shining part of Western, like, you know, culture.
14:47I get it.
14:48Like a performance ass.
14:49Yeah.
14:50Like Dolly Parton.
14:51Do you know who that is?
14:52No.
14:53Oh, God.
14:55Are you all right?
14:56Need some water?
14:59I guess she's a very big country star.
15:02Yeah, she is.
15:04Here's my thing.
15:05You don't have to make a dress.
15:07You make jackets all the time.
15:08Why don't you make a cool jacket with fringe all over it?
15:11And you love the mini sexy skirt.
15:13And, like, why can't it be more you?
15:17I have to stick on dress.
15:19Fine, goodbye.
15:20Good luck.
15:21Last challenge.
15:22The judges didn't like my pants and hoodie.
15:25So I'm doing something different than making a dress.
15:28I've made my decision.
15:29I just hope I have enough time.
15:31But I will make something on the dress, though.
15:33I'm just telling you.
15:34I'm warning you.
15:36Okay.
15:37You have to win this one.
15:40Everybody has one except me.
15:42Yeah.
15:43I've been close.
15:44I know you've been really close.
15:45How many times?
15:46I've been close two times.
15:47I was in the top twice.
15:48It's been very exciting to see my brother winning challenges.
15:51But I came into this competition thinking I was going to do better than him.
15:56Wow.
15:57I'm starting to think Jesus is my biggest competition.
16:02Designer, there's a new sheriff in town.
16:06And there's only going to be room for one twin in this competition.
16:10Who would it be?
16:11Who would it be?
16:13What is happening out here?
16:15Oh, my God.
16:16One of them has to go at some point.
16:18So, is it today?
16:20Oh, my Lord.
16:21I think that dealing with one twin is very challenging.
16:25and dealing with two twins is even more challenging.
16:28They should both go home.
16:32BJ can act bored all she wants,
16:34but she's going to wake up real quick when she's in the bottom.
16:42What is that wig for?
16:43It's a tumbleweave, girl.
16:45That's a wig.
16:46That's why somebody wiged.
16:47It's a tumbleweave.
16:48It's a tumbleweave.
16:49It's a tumbleweave.
16:50It's a tumbleweave.
16:52Oh, my Lord.
16:55It's not working.
16:56I feel really bad for Yushin
16:58because I think that he does not have a clue what Western is.
17:03I mean, he didn't know who Dolly Parton is,
17:04so if you don't know who Dolly Parton is,
17:06you do not know what Western is.
17:08I'm interested to see how he pumps that out.
17:10I don't understand why he's doing a gown
17:13and not something that's in his element.
17:15He's pushing himself.
17:17I have hit a wall.
17:19I feel stuck and I'm moving so slow.
17:22I am so thankful for my second chance, but I need to prove I belong here.
17:28Hello.
17:29Hello.
17:30Does anybody want to ride on my pony?
17:32Yes.
17:33Yes.
17:34Do I put it in the front or in the back?
17:36Stop.
17:37God.
17:38Okay, give me my pony back.
17:40All right.
17:41Not for the pony.
17:42Okay.
17:43Let's bring in your model.
17:44Pony.
17:45Woo!
17:46I'm good.
17:47I don't know about the skirt.
17:49The top looks really cool.
17:50The skirt doesn't look cool yet.
17:51Can you, like, scrub?
17:52I am.
17:53I think it's really defeating.
17:54Okay.
17:55Yeah.
17:56You burn it.
17:57I burn it.
17:58I love it.
17:59I mean, I think the whole look turned out so good.
18:01I cannot believe that this mistake might turn out to be the greatest mistake I've ever done
18:08in this competition.
18:09It's looking almost like a piece of art.
18:11What about we have a lot of, like, fringe from the hat?
18:13To the floor like that?
18:14Yeah.
18:15Yeah.
18:16I think you should make your dress more interesting first.
18:18More interesting.
18:19Or you can add a jacket because it's boring.
18:23But I don't know how to make progress.
18:25Well, that's the challenge here, my friend.
18:30Mommy Christian is yelling at me.
18:32He want me to make a jacket, but I don't really have time.
18:35Since we already have the base dress, it's time for me to think about, how am I going
18:39to make this more Western?
18:41One question.
18:42Do you think this hat wore this hat?
18:44I don't care about your stupid hat.
18:47I care about your dress.
18:50Hmm.
18:51What is your story?
18:52I don't have a story.
18:53No, but you have to give them something.
18:56If I had to go to a Western event, I would make this for myself and put it on.
19:00That's all I'm going to say.
19:02Yeah, Christian, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
19:05Does it get a shoulder pad?
19:07I think we can give you a shoulder pad.
19:10Doing this challenge, I know that I want to create something unexpected and out of the box.
19:15And what I'm doing, I think it's different, but it's a cool dress.
19:20BJ, you don't need any other accessories.
19:22Absolutely.
19:23You don't need any.
19:24No, get that bag out of here.
19:25You have a plastic fringe dress.
19:28BJ's very proud of her look, but girl, I feel like she's going to be in the bottom.
19:32I feel like she thinks she thought outside the box, but I don't think she did.
19:36I think she made her model look like a box.
19:39Keep it simple.
19:42All right, designers.
19:43That's it.
19:44That's time with your models.
19:45Thank you so much, ladies.
19:47Love you.
19:48Love you.
19:49Less than three hours to go.
19:51And then we're going home.
19:56How to make it interesting.
19:57How to make it interesting.
19:59Maybe give her an old time like saloon girls bustle.
20:03Nah.
20:04Or like a really cool neck scarf.
20:05Scarf.
20:06Scarf.
20:07Girl, I'm throwing you ideas.
20:08You either pick them up and run with them or you figure it out on your own.
20:13Okay.
20:14I think that Eugene is scared of this challenge.
20:16It is both out of his culture and he's been really shook up these last two challenges.
20:25I'm so tired.
20:26Literally, I've been cutting the fringe for like eight hours.
20:28I know.
20:29You have a two day challenge.
20:30Yeah.
20:31For real.
20:32I'm pushing myself to the point of exhaustion.
20:35I know it's risky, but I hope that the judges will see the work that I put in.
20:40And maybe if they don't love it, they'll give me some grace to keep me from going home.
20:45It's no time.
20:46It's no time.
20:47It's no time.
20:48It's no time.
20:49One hour left, you guys.
20:50It's no time.
20:51It's no time.
20:52It's no time.
20:55Ethan's dress is similar to the dress that I made from the Boring Fabric Challenge.
21:01The judges don't like it when you show something that the other designers have already done.
21:06Jesus, I saw Ethan's dress and it kind of reminded me of the gray dress that I made for Luz, right?
21:13Maybe it's unintentional, you know, but what do you think?
21:17Well, well, well, the bitch is staring the pot.
21:23I mean, I think it's very him.
21:25Yeah.
21:26It's definitely going to stand out.
21:27What do you think about yourself?
21:29Um, it's okay.
21:34I think it's important to be original and if your work is referencing the work of your other competitors, then it means that you need to change that and you need to come up with something else.
21:45I don't want to cause drama, but I need to talk to Ethan.
21:50Okay.
21:51Are you going to be doing a lot of the crisscross detail?
21:54Mm-hmm.
21:55Because when I saw your dress, it kind of reminded me of the gray dress.
21:59Which one?
22:00The wool.
22:01His?
22:02No, my dress.
22:03Yours.
22:04What the ?
22:05It's not similar, but it's kind of like the same idea where it's kind of like, it has kind of like a cut out here.
22:11I think that Vijay is spewing bullshit.
22:15I don't agree that a full crocodile gown has anything to do with her wool mini dress.
22:23So when I saw, I was like, I think I need to tell Ethan because the judges might call you out for that.
22:28Especially Nina.
22:29I was like, don't copy each other.
22:31No way in hell would I want to plagiarize your boring work.
22:35So buzz off.
22:36Hey, it's a cowboy day.
22:37Good morning, cowboy.
22:38We're back.
22:39Yee-haw.
22:40Today is the runway show and the pressure is on.
22:41We're so close to the top five and there's no room for mistakes.
22:43We'll see what happens on the runway.
22:45Who do you think is in trouble today?
22:46You?
22:47Me?
22:48Oh my God.
22:49Why me?
22:50I don't know.
22:51I don't know what the judges are going to think.
22:52I know.
22:53It's very risky.
22:54It's risky for sure.
22:55I'm worried about Vijay.
22:56Well, I'm not really worried because I want her to be out of this competition.
22:59Model!
23:00Let's see what's going on around here.
23:01Let's see what's going on around here.
23:02What do you think is in trouble today?
23:03You?
23:04Me?
23:05Oh my God.
23:06Why me?
23:07I don't know.
23:08I don't know.
23:09I don't know what the judges are going to think.
23:10I know.
23:11It's very risky.
23:12It's risky for sure.
23:13I'm worried about Vijay.
23:14Well, I'm not really worried because I want her to be out of this competition.
23:16Model!
23:17What's up, girlfriend?
23:18Hello.
23:19Hello!
23:20Hello!
23:21Oh my God, you look so sexy.
23:24Let's see what's going on around here.
23:29Do you think the front fits perfect?
23:31I had to take this whole panel, remove it from the inside, and put it over top to alleviate
23:38the boob space.
23:39My , I usually work with.
23:41They're all fake.
23:42They don't move.
23:43And then when I lift that up, that'll relieve the boob tension.
23:46So, like, real in this whole competition has been, like, a journey.
23:52It looks cool.
23:54I mean, listen.
23:55I don't know what they're going to think because it's a wild card.
23:58Yeah.
23:59I just want you to be prepared.
24:01Oh, damn.
24:02I wanted to sell this before you came.
24:03Ah!
24:04The twins may live and breathe Western, but I'm coming off of a win, and I finally know
24:08who I am.
24:09I'm not backing down.
24:10I'm coming for them.
24:11I just got to watch my body language.
24:13Antonio, please take off the glasses.
24:15I get it.
24:16What?
24:17So, are you going to do the whole boobie horn situation?
24:22Yeah.
24:23I decided to make this bullhorn because I got inspired by Tibet culture, which is kind of
24:33similar to Western culture.
24:34In Tibetan culture, they put all these decorations on the bullhorn.
24:39That means good luck.
24:40And I know the bullhorn is screaming in the Western world.
24:44I think they're going to like it.
24:46You're going to be very, very slay on the stage.
24:53It's something.
24:54Yeah.
24:55She's very horny.
24:58All right, models, you guys can go to the Ulta Beauty salon now.
25:05We are back.
25:06Howdy, cowgirl.
25:07I want her to have pigtails, but I want it to be behind her ear.
25:11So, if I were to go into an Ulta Beauty, do they provide makeup services?
25:15Every Ulta Beauty store has a salon.
25:18Now, our professional stylists are trained to help you find your look, your vibe, and your
25:22moment.
25:23So, everything from makeup to skincare to hair care, we're here to make you feel and look
25:28amazing.
25:29Oh, that's very cool.
25:34All right, designers, that's it.
25:35That's time.
25:36Let's head to the runway.
25:41Hi.
25:42Hi.
25:45Hi, all.
25:46Hi.
25:47Welcome to the runway.
25:48As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
25:51For this challenge, you had one day to create your take on Western chic.
25:56Let's meet our judges.
25:57CFDA award-winning stylist and image architect, Laura.
26:04And joining us, a country music star and the first African-American female to be nominated
26:09for a Grammy in the country music category, Mickey Guyton.
26:13Woo!
26:15Welcome.
26:16And executive vice president and creative director for Gap, Inc.
26:20and chief creative officer of Old Navy, Zach Pozen.
26:24Woo!
26:25Perfect.
26:26Oh, my God.
26:27Zach Pozen.
26:28I've seen that face on Project Runway so many times.
26:30This is not cute.
26:31He is very meticulous with craftsmanship, one of the best designers that I know.
26:36It's great to be back in the saddle here on Project Runway.
26:39Yay!
26:40Yeah!
26:41No pun intended.
26:43All right, let's start the show.
26:46Boots down.
26:48Hands high.
26:49I nailed my look.
26:51It is Western, and it's so chic.
26:54And this burn leather, what really was stressing me out, has turned into greatness.
26:59This burn is a technique that I would definitely do again.
27:03That is gorgeous.
27:04Like, I'm ready for a country mega.
27:06Country takeover.
27:07Cowgirl glam with a rebel strut.
27:10Whiskey lips don't care much.
27:13As I see my look go down the runway, I'm excited.
27:16I'm proud of it.
27:17Move down.
27:18My eye goes directly to the denim, and the tan leather, and the sharp point cutouts look really cool.
27:26I like it a lot.
27:27This one just gives me chills.
27:29Mm-hmm.
27:30Like, I wear that right now.
27:31Now hear me roach like a thunder.
27:34No, I ain't gonna play.
27:38I love this.
27:39I love seeing it just snake down the runway.
27:42It's like where Bart's probably from 10 years ago.
27:44I just wish it would fit better on the breasts.
27:46Feels really good to see what I have accomplished.
27:49The styling and the detail, and it's fun.
27:52It's a moment, and if there's anything I know how to do, it's a moment.
27:57She's like taking me to a country award show, honey.
28:01Roar just like thunder.
28:06I'm feeling so proud of myself, showcasing a piece that I put all my soul and intentions into it.
28:13What?
28:14That is stunning.
28:15I'm a fierce competitor.
28:17Don't underestimate me.
28:18Today is gonna be tough.
28:20Mm-hmm.
28:21It's so good.
28:22My vision to create something unexpected and not the usual Western chic fashion is very risky.
28:38Looking at all the creations on the runway, mine is different, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the judges will appreciate that I'm a designer who takes risks.
28:48It's like Casey Caldwell Cofrana.
28:50I don't understand that.
28:51You don't wanna miss out.
28:57Woo!
28:58We'll be hard.
29:01As Lyris is going down the wrong way, I feel so happy.
29:05She's totally rocked out, and she looks so fierce.
29:08I'm very happy with the outcome.
29:14All right now.
29:15Mm-hmm.
29:16Oh, no, she's gonna sell her garment.
29:18She's definitely gonna sell her garment.
29:19I can literally read Mrs. Law's face just by him rolling his eyes.
29:24I can see that some of these designers are in trouble, and I just hope I'm not one of them.
29:36Congratulations.
29:37That was quite the runway show.
29:40We scored your designs.
29:43Antonio.
29:44Jesus.
29:46Alania.
29:48You are our favorite designs this week.
29:56That means Ethan.
29:59Hugh Chin.
30:00And Vijay, you had our least favorite designs today.
30:03You can leave the runway.
30:13It's getting hotter.
30:15I'm really sad that the judges did not love what I made, and the rest did not pay off.
30:20But I think I made something bold, and I did not make something basic and literal like the other designers here.
30:28They definitely had the most, like, accessible pieces out of everybody.
30:33Yeah.
30:34I'm just surprised to be in the bottle, because I know my look is really good,
30:40comparative to, like, some of these looks that are so, like...
30:45There's gotta be another word for boring.
30:47Like, I just don't think they're interesting.
30:48Like, if I can just go and buy them off the rack, I don't think that is interesting to me.
30:52So...
30:57You will see.
30:59Okay, let's bring out your models.
31:00Yes!
31:01Ah, Barbies!
31:04Stunning.
31:05Thank you so much.
31:06All right, Antonio.
31:07Let's start with you.
31:08Yeah.
31:09It is so special.
31:11Wow.
31:12And to do this in a day, and for that price...
31:13You kind of checked off the boxes for me.
31:15There's conchos.
31:16There's fringe.
31:17You're working with bow leather.
31:19And this band waistband.
31:21The belt.
31:22The top.
31:23The belt.
31:24Wow.
31:25The buckle was black, so I wrapped it in leather.
31:27Such a good idea.
31:28The braids.
31:29Risque.
31:30It gives it the fashion edge.
31:31It's stunning.
31:32I'm Latino, so I needed to sex it up a little bit.
31:33Hey!
31:34I think that this outfit is absolutely beautiful.
31:38Latinos in country music have a very beautiful love affair.
31:42Vaqueros.
31:43Yep.
31:44The conchos, everything.
31:45There's a huge Latino movement in country music.
31:47Yeah.
31:48And to see that and see that you're representing that is absolutely beautiful.
31:52The styling is absolutely phenomenal.
31:55The hair choice, the makeup choice, really, really, really well done.
31:59Well, I think of you every time I style down.
32:03I mean, you should.
32:04I'm the best.
32:05I know.
32:06Yeah.
32:07Okay, Balania, we're gonna talk to you next.
32:09When this came out, I knew exactly it was you, which is great, because it's really showing us that you have a strong point of view.
32:15It's just absolutely stunning.
32:17Love the authenticity.
32:18Didn't feel like you were trying to interpret it as anything else but what it is.
32:22It was very genuine and honest, and I just thought the lines and everything were so beautiful.
32:26Just love it so much.
32:27You just did a great job.
32:28Thank you so much.
32:29The leather or suede material.
32:31Can she just turn?
32:32Let's do it.
32:33It's great.
32:34I mean, just kind of complicated things happening here, right?
32:36Yes, it is.
32:37That are kind of working together.
32:39You're playing with different proportions, layering, volumes, transparency, graphic, and it kind of all works.
32:46I feel like you always find this way of putting things together that, in theory, don't really work in a way, but it totally works.
32:55And that makes it new again, so I loved it.
32:59Jesus!
33:00Hello.
33:01It is stunning.
33:03From every angle, every detail, that coat is just singing, you know, and that it's see-through.
33:08And when she walked, it was so beautiful, and all this fringe she put on there.
33:11The coat is really, really spectacular.
33:13I love going to vintage stores, and this looks like it could have easily been from the 70s that someone wore that to Woodstock and just kept it in the most pristine condition.
33:22What is the top?
33:23Is it a print?
33:24Is it molded?
33:25So creating this kind of, like, beautiful texture was a mistake.
33:30I like the mistake of it.
33:32Same.
33:33Same.
33:34That kind of spontaneity in design process is when the most interesting discoveries get found.
33:40Like, the mess that works.
33:41I thought that that was not a mistake.
33:43It's just so beautiful.
33:44Like, out the gate when I saw it, I loved it instantly.
33:47Mm-hmm.
33:48It's just amazing.
33:49Like, it was definitely one of my favorites.
33:51I mean, all of y'all are my favorites.
33:52That's why you are here.
33:54I have to say this was a tough one.
33:57Yes, it was.
33:58Very tough.
33:59Picking the winner here because, really, you guys all did a fantastic job.
34:04The winning look not only felt true to country roots, it pushed the envelope of what Western chic looks like.
34:12Congratulations.
34:13This could be my win.
34:14My first win.
34:15Finally.
34:16Jesus, you are the winner.
34:18Ah!
34:19I share this with you.
34:20Oh, you guys are so cute.
34:21This works for us.
34:22Love.
34:23Thank you so much.
34:24Jesus wins.
34:37At this point, I am frustrated because I am the cowboy.
34:42And Jesus is not the cowboy.
34:44And I wanted my first win, finally.
34:46Oh, Jesus.
34:47Congratulations.
34:48You can leave the runway.
34:52This was a tough win, you know?
34:54I really wanted Antonio to take the win.
34:56I won.
34:57Yeah.
34:58And then I really thought he was going to win.
35:00I mean, your win is his win, too.
35:03I know.
35:04Here we go again.
35:05Jesus won another challenge.
35:07And I'm pretty sure that it's going to make him really, really cocky.
35:12Wow.
35:13I'm so relieved I made it to the top five.
35:15And I'm just climbing to the top.
35:17But VJ, girl, I think your time might be over soon.
35:27Ethan, VJ, and Eugene, you created our least favorite designs.
35:32All right, let's bring out your models.
35:40Ethan, let's start with you.
35:41Tell us about your look.
35:42I created my own evening wear, avant-garde, snake in the grass.
35:47When it first came out, it kind of felt like I had seen this.
35:50However, seeing it in front of me right now, it's impeccably made.
35:53I thought the dress really is stunning.
35:56I think it was the ties that threw me off personally.
35:59I don't know if that's dark brown or black, but had it been something more in the tone of the skins, that would have elevated it a little bit more and made it look even more expensive.
36:10And there's something to me that's going on with the booth that's not quite flattering.
36:15It's too narrow.
36:16That's what pushed you out of the top three.
36:18The styling is really good.
36:19I love the cowboy hat.
36:20I love the drama with the tail.
36:22And it does feel country, right?
36:23Yes, it absolutely does.
36:24You missed the top three by just a few points.
36:27It's a showstopper.
36:28Mm-hmm.
36:29I'm not mad at it.
36:30VJC, the judges know that my work is not like your work.
36:35Okay, Hu-Chin, can you tell us about your look?
36:38I want to bring this excitement on the runway.
36:40In a little drama, and when she's walking on the runway, there's like...
36:43Like a nipple tussle.
36:44Right.
36:45So it's all about the excitement.
36:46What I'm looking for in this country western fashion is the authenticity.
36:51And I just don't think that that was executed in this.
36:55I don't understand how you are a streetwear designer and you gave us an evening dress.
37:02And a really bad evening dress.
37:04I don't think it fit her that well.
37:06If you're gonna play with the satire, and if it's gonna be something that's about, like, horny disco, nasty couture,
37:13then it has to be, like, weirder and stranger and more perverse.
37:18Thank you, Zach.
37:19I feel like you just went for something so nutty that I'm like, did you think this was a winning look?
37:26The taste level here is beyond.
37:29Beyond.
37:30Beyond good or beyond bad?
37:31Beyond bad.
37:32Yeah, okay.
37:33We hate the dress.
37:35We hate the dress.
37:36We hate the dress.
37:37We hate the dress.
37:39Okay, Vijay, let's hear about your look.
37:41For this particular challenge, it was really intentional to kind of, like, go on a different direction.
37:47What is it gonna be in the future to see what Western fashion is?
37:52So let's start with the good.
37:53The good thing about you is that you know a woman's body.
37:56Mm-hmm.
37:57The way you cut that curve to make her waist look small in the exact place it should,
38:02and using that nude material was brilliant.
38:05Everything else is such a mismatch and so confusing.
38:10Yeah, this was a miss for me.
38:12This looked like a project runway nightmare.
38:15It didn't make sense to me.
38:17Western chic, I'm just not getting that here.
38:19Vinyl doesn't say modernity to me or futurism.
38:22Mm-hmm.
38:23It's kind of post-modern.
38:24You know, it's like it's been there.
38:25We've been there since the 60s.
38:27We asked for country chic.
38:28You gave us country shit, and I'm not gonna hold that back.
38:32I think you were trying to, like, try something different, and the things that, like, trust your gut, it's always 100% correct.
38:40Thank you for all the feedback.
38:41Of course.
38:43Both twins are in the top, and I'm in the bottom.
38:47This is embarrassing.
38:48And now I might go home.
38:50This cannot be my ending.
38:52We have a lot to discuss, and sadly, one of you will be out.
38:57You can all leave the runway.
38:58Thank you so much.
39:02Well, it's really now between Vijay and Yuchen, because Ethan is safe.
39:08He was our number four today, right?
39:10He made tiny mistakes.
39:11Yeah.
39:12That kept him out of the top three.
39:14Yuchen going for two horns on the breasts and, like, bedazzling her from head to toe.
39:20Not even enough.
39:21Plastic French from head to toe.
39:22There wasn't enough bedazzle for me to make it that weird.
39:25It's like, not the moment.
39:27No.
39:28Last challenge, I was on the bottom.
39:30It took some confidence away from me.
39:32I've been questioning myself.
39:33If I got the chance to stay in the competition, I have to be able to shake that off.
39:38Hopefully, they give me that chance.
39:40There was absolutely nothing redeeming about it.
39:43Nothing.
39:44The accessories, the necklace.
39:46Terrible.
39:47And then he just bedazzled it everywhere.
39:48Put the necklace on the hat.
39:49I have that hat from Etsy, by the way.
39:51I know you do.
39:52I do.
39:53I saw you.
39:54Everybody who went to Beyonce's tour had the hat on.
39:55I mean, they did.
39:57He lost his confidence, though.
39:58We've all lost our confidence before, right?
40:01But this has, like, lost the plot.
40:03Oh, Vijay.
40:04I mean, she brought something that didn't feel chic at all.
40:07And the key to good Western, it has to be authentic.
40:10Any time that it's anything else, it seems like it's making fun of what Western culture is.
40:16It looked like a really bad costume party.
40:18It really did.
40:19Yeah, I hate it.
40:20You would never wear that.
40:21No.
40:22Right.
40:23This is recycled fashion, and it should be recycled.
40:26All right.
40:27Let's bring them back out.
40:28Okay.
40:29See you later.
40:30Bye.
40:31Yuchin, Vijay, and Ethan.
40:37We've made our decision.
40:39I don't think I'm nervous for myself.
40:44However, it's a tight game between Vijay and Yuchin.
40:48And Yuchin, he's been a really good friend in this competition.
40:52So, I want Vijay to go home.
40:54Ethan, you're safe.
40:55You can leave the runway.
40:56Thank you all so much.
40:57Yuchin, Vijay, one of you will be in, and one of you will be out.
41:10I know my confidence has been shaken, but I just hope the judges decide to keep me in
41:16the competition.
41:17I'm scared.
41:18I did everything that I can to stand out in this competition.
41:22I've waited for this opportunity for so long, and I can't go home yet.
41:31Next time on Project Runway, you will be making a look for women and men who struggle
41:37with eczema.
41:38Where do you want to get married?
41:39Mexico, for sure.
41:40Are we on a date right now?
41:41I just can't do friends.
41:42Everything Jewel is saying might send me home.
41:45I think that sweater is giving me nightmares.
41:47I'm trying to be quiet because you know people, they try to save my ideas.
41:50You really just didn't listen to him.
41:52It's Kate Middleton in 2006, drunk in the back of a cab.
41:54She just looked frumpy.
41:55I did not like this at all.
41:57What's the biggest sin?
41:58A sloppy toppy or a mitt smash mess?
