00:43Je vais trouver mon mouvement,
00:47les différents shots sur la course que je veux.
00:51Today I played a good match from the baseline, from the net.
00:55I just honestly got out-served.
00:57That was kind of the theme.
00:59All three matches I played here, the guys served better than me.
01:03That's not the biggest concern.
01:05I know that I have a great serve.
01:08I've got to give a lot of credit at the end of this year.
01:11The way that these guys, informed players, played.
01:16There was no easy matches in my group.
01:19I came up a little bit short.
01:22Well done today and on a great year.
01:25Just thinking ahead to next year, you mentioned about the close season.
01:27Are you someone who's thinking specifically about closing the gap to the two at the top
01:32or are you more just thinking about your own game and what you need to work on?
01:37Yeah, I think you're always, for me I'm always trying to chase the people in front of me.
01:42How I can get better, how I can be more effective
01:44and also not losing sight of what makes me great
01:48and not trying to change too much.
01:51But, yeah, certainly eye-opening being able to play against some of the best players in the world
01:56on the things that I need to do better.
01:58I'm not the player that I want to be yet.
02:01I'm not close.
02:02There's so many things that I need to work on.
02:05But for me, I'm lucky.
02:08I mean, you can look at it two ways.
02:11Either I was out for a month and a half with an injury or I got a month and a half break
02:19and now when I go home it's not like I need time to decompress
02:22and not play for a while before I start training.
02:24I can kind of get right back into it.
02:29Hi, Ben.
02:29Great season.
02:30Congratulations.
02:32How does the process of being inspired to work further
02:36and to come up with the missing pieces after such matches work for you,
02:40how does that look?
02:41Is it like immediate?
02:42When do we expect something like that to happen with you and so on?
02:45You mean like when you expect the improvements to happen?
02:49Yes.
02:49How does the process look?
02:51No, I mean, I think it's, you know,
02:53tennis is a sport where you don't get instant gratification.
02:56So I could be working on things now this week
02:59or have worked on things for the past three months
03:02or past two months or past month when I've been trying to come back
03:05and I may not see it on the court yet.
03:07But maybe in Australia or Paris at some point next year
03:11I start to see those things come along.
03:14and it's always been like that in my career.
03:17I set a goal.
03:18I start working on it every day.
03:20It doesn't come to me right away.
03:21It's frustrating.
03:22And sure enough, you know, down the line,
03:26as long as I continue to put consistent work in every single day,
03:30which has never really been a problem for me,
03:33I see those things start to work
03:35and start to come alive in my matches.
03:38Sorry, just to follow up to before,
03:40you've had some really good matches against the top two today
03:43and today felt like it was really close,
03:45came down to a few points like in the breaker.
03:47How close do you see that gap
03:49and do you have in your mind like specific things
03:51that you think you need to do to kind of get there?
03:54Yeah, I mean, you know, you can't just look at it as those two.
03:59I think tennis is a matchup sport.
04:02If you look at the top four, they're all such different players.
04:05Or top five or top ten, everybody's very different
04:07and every matchup's going to be different.
04:09And there's certain things about matchups with certain players that I love
04:12and certain things that they probably love against me
04:15and things that they hate.
04:16So trying to figure out how to be more disruptive looks different
04:20if you're talking about, you know, a Carlos or a Sinner,
04:23two completely different players,
04:25or a Zverev or, you know, Fritz, Novak,
04:28any of the guys at the top of the game.
04:32There's going to be different solutions
04:33and you have to be able to kind of adapt on the fly
04:37when you're playing certain players
04:38and not fall in love with a certain game plan against somebody
04:43because you want to play your own game
04:46and try to stay true to yourself
04:47and do the things that are strengths for you.
04:53And for me, you know, I think I have a very specific style
04:56that I like playing and that helps me play my best.
04:58But at the same time, I've got to, you know,
05:00figure out ways to make guys uncomfortable.
05:05Hi, Ben.
05:06I was wondering, you played against Yannick in different conditions,
05:10grass, outdoor hard courts, indoor hard courts.
05:15In what kind of condition is most difficult to play against him?
05:22Because here he has, like, an unbelievable record.
05:25You are, like, the only player in the last two years
05:29to take him to a tiebreak.
05:32He didn't concede a single set in the last two years,
05:35so I was wondering.
05:37Thank you.
05:37Yeah, different parts of his game are best on different services.
05:44You know, I think in Australia, it's, you know,
05:48his ability to build the point, to move you around the court.
05:52The ground strokes come alive.
05:54It helps the serve as well there,
05:55but it's really what he does after the serve.
06:00Here, indoor courts, you know,
06:03he's hitting the lines a lot on the serve.
06:06You know, he's pinpoint accuracy,
06:08and it's easier to serve indoors in general.
06:11You know, if you look at the three guys I played
06:14and how tight they were on the lines, you know,
06:16he was probably the closest of the three,
06:18but it's a small difference between him, you know,
06:21Zverev and Felix, what they've been doing this tournament.
06:24So I think that, you know,
06:26his serve makes him really, really difficult here.
06:28Obviously, the ability to take time away
06:31and hit winners from different places from the baseline
06:36or wherever in the court is a big advantage.
06:39So, I mean, yeah, I guess it's hard to argue
06:42that indoor hard court's not his best surface,
06:44but I think.
