Booming alternative act BLK Odyssy is clarifying that he appreciates having his music spotlighted on Joe Budden's top-rated podcast -- even with The Weeknd and Travis Scott comparisons attached -- even if he doesn't agree with them!!!

00:09know i recently seen on on twitter or x i saw joe budden a clip from his podcast he was talking

00:17about your new album mood control yeah and he he kind of compared you to you know the weekend

00:24travis scott and i saw you respond you know you said you're in a lane of your own can you

00:29talk to me a little bit about you know how you felt about joe budden saying that i mean look this is

00:35what i'll say i mean i i don't mind the comparison i've seen everybody look butthurt about me saying

00:39that but what i'll say is i just feel as an artist i've created my own lane but in any case i i

00:45appreciate joe's out there you know what i'm saying it was cool i just felt like why do you think people

00:51like why do you think it came across like negatively or why do you think people took offense to it

00:55apparently it was because my tone maybe i gotta work on my tone in a tweet though that's what i'm

01:00saying like apparently i gotta work on my tone but the way i said it came off ungrateful which i hit

01:06joe though and i told him i was very grateful for everything he did but in any case i got to be

01:11confident in what i do as an artist and you know i just i i said i'm in my own lane so i feel like i am

01:18in my own way do you feel like it kind of puts artists in a box when they get compared to other

01:22artists like that when you're trying to do your own thing or is do you look at it as like an honor

01:29it is an honor i'm not necessarily saying i'm being put in a box but the specific comparison

01:34actually i wasn't talking to joe budden i was talking just to whatever the blog that that's who's

01:39about it okay said that he compared me the only thing that the other dude said it wasn't even joe but

01:44the other guy said that it sounded like house of blues which realistically i was i guess like

01:51you know inspired by that but for the most part we've we've crafted our own lane and and that's

01:57that's what i was saying i was just saying we have our own our own thing so so so it is fair to

02:01say you've been inspired by you know artists like the weekend and travis scott however that's not really

02:07the direction your art is going in definitely i mean i'm always inspired by travis's energy and

02:13the way that he conducts his live shows that's been a a big you know thing for me and in terms of

02:18the weekend like i've been listening to that since i was in high school that was one of the artists that

02:22made me want to make music but my earlier influences are like funkadelic and stuff like that so

02:30i guess that's what i meant when i said i was in my own lane i hope that it didn't come off any sort

02:33of way a shout out to joe you know i'm saying i appreciate the love on the podcast because that that

02:38that gives us a platform so i appreciate it maybe y'all come pull up when i say and speaking of the

02:43the album mood control tell us a little bit about it man it was it was just like it was us finding

02:50that sweet spot between what we do like where the r b and and and rock and all the different

02:55alternative influences that i have as an artist it was just me finding that sweet spot you know this

03:00is it's probably like one of our our best accepted records in terms of feedback you feel me so

03:07i'm just excited that that people are listening and people hear it the way they do and yeah you

03:12know it's it's sort of like a little science project for us with the frequencies that people

03:16type in they'll see about the frequency i do want to close out by saying like you know you don't mind

03:21the conversations like for instance you know joe having that conversation like you said had us pull up on

03:24us pull up on you so you don't mind that you just any pressure is a bit of pressure my boy yeah you

03:28just want people to put respect on you and your work and your art exactly yeah for sure 100 thank you
