Edit for headphones, November 2025. Edit of a song (03 biG GRunt - Blind Date (BBC 21-03-1970)) from the album "Vivian Stanshall - Collected Rarities" (2011 fan made album).

The album's compiler - BeatleV - wrote:

«« Vivian’s first major (and well received) project [after the disbanding of The Bonzo Dog Band] was "biG Grunt" with Vivian Stanshall on vocals, Bubs White on guitar, Roger Ruskin Spear on saxophone [not on this song], Borneo Fred Munt on guitar, Dennis Cowan on bass and Ian Wallace on drums.

This track was recorded on March 16, 1970 during a session produced by John Walters for the John Peel Show and broadcast on Radio 1 for the first time on March 21, 1970. This recording is from a re-broadcast in May 2008.

Although thise file originates from a lossy source, I decided to include it because the track presented here is a major upgrade in sound quality compared to all earlier released versions. Too bad that this session never has been released officially. »»

BLIND DATE
(Vivian Stanshall)

the only lines from the lyrics that I found on the web are from a comment on someone who didn't understand these lines:

we met at Waterloo
she smelled of al-kay-hol
I'm a scrumpologist too
I'll show you the Hole in the Wall

(The Hole in the Wall is a pub in Waterloo)

00:29We've made a date convenient to both of us
00:36The agency assured me you'd be there
00:42You would recognize me from my photograph
00:49I would know you for your shining hair
00:59I spent maybe an hour in the bathroom
01:06It seems funny now, but I had to look my best
01:13I remember I looked up and saw my trousers
01:18By the wardrobe, newly pressed
01:26And I couldn't wait to hold you in my arms, girl
01:32I've been so sluggish and oppressed
01:37Meanwhile...
01:56We met water blue
02:09I said my name was Paul
02:16I'm a scrimologist too
02:22I'll show you the hole in the wall
02:29It was no surprise to find you were a pygmy
02:35In fact, I think that I already knew
02:40It could have been that beehive
02:46High above you
02:50How I love you
02:53Ooh, ooh, ooh
02:57We shared a curry in a Chelsea cafe
03:04The waiter couldn't keep his eyes off you
03:10And then later, when I pulled you close to kiss you
03:17I was netted and returned to what stayed soon
03:23And the keeper said
03:26Nice try, fella
03:29Next time it's our security
03:32We met at Borderloo
03:39I said my name was Paul
03:46I'm a scrimologist too
03:50I'll show you the hole in the wall
