00:00There we go.
00:09Thank you very much.
00:10So the previous sign, Department of Defense,
00:13and what I've told has been here for 76 years.
00:18And that's a long time.
00:2076 years is a long time.
00:22But when you think of the length of our republic,
00:25250 years, the original name of this department was the Department of War,
00:29George Washington saw it as the Department of War,
00:31all the way until World War II.
00:32And so when this building was built after World War II
00:34and the sign went up, it's the Department of Defense.
00:37It's the sign that I walked past on my first day,
00:39that foreign leaders walked past.
00:41It's the first thing you see.
00:42And we wanted to replace this because we want everyone
00:47that comes through this door to know that we're deadly serious
00:50about the name change of this organization.
00:52Yes, we love everything that the Department of Defense represented,
00:56but this is a new era of the Department of War
00:59that is focused on winning wars, not just perpetually defending,
01:03making sure we know exactly what the mission is
01:05and that the troops are sent there to succeed and win.
01:08So the Department of War has a new ethos.
01:11We're rebuilding it.
01:12We're reestablishing deterrence.
01:13It's based on America first and peace through strength and common sense.
01:17And now everyone that enters this building,
01:20whether it's generals or civilians or foreign leaders,
01:22is going to see, hey, this is not just on paper.
01:25This is not just the title.
01:26This is exactly who we are.
01:28And we urge Congress next year to make it permanent.
01:32And we think there are plenty of senators and congressmen out there
01:35that support the President's vision to make it permanently the Department of War,
01:39reestablishing it back to Henry Knox and George Washington
01:42and the founding of our nation that we will fight and win our nation's wars called upon.
01:47But, of course, the whole goal is to deter wars in the first place,
01:52to establish peace.
01:54So thank you for hooking us up.
01:58It means a lot to us.
01:59I'll look at it every time we come in.
02:01We hope our adversaries and allies alike look at it when they walk in this beautiful building as well.
02:06So, gentlemen, thanks a lot.
02:07Thank you, sir.
02:08Appreciate you.
02:10Thank you very much.
02:11All right.
02:12Beautiful.
02:13Nice.
02:19There we go.
