Bukit Damansara residents say they are not against development, but insist that the maximum carrying capacity of Jalan Semantan must be determined before any new projects are approved in the area.

Their concerns come amid the proposed redevelopment of Wisma Damansara, which they fear could worsen congestion if allowed to proceed alongside several other planned developments along the same stretch.

00:00So here it is, that it has already shown it, but you have to appreciate, you have to actually come down the rim and turn into the road in front of the fire to truly appreciate the problems that we have.
00:13That is in itself a narrow road.
00:16That's in itself a narrow road.
00:17Sorry, giant room.
00:19Giant room.
00:21No, I'm not sure what you mean.
00:23I'll be kind of a good one.
00:24So if you go into this, can you see how dangerous that is?
00:29So you can actually turn, you may not see the traffic, what is the oncoming traffic, not easy to see it sometimes.
00:37It is a potentially extremely dangerous area.
00:42That's what we're living with now, with just one building pavilion there, having caused the entire mess.
00:50So let me tell you my experience working in the fire.
00:54When I bring in days, in the evening when it is time to go back, this is the truth, you can do a survey with all the people in those offices, it can take up to one and a half hours to get out of our car park because of that.
01:13We've never had that problem before, obviously it's because of that, because it's so jam-packed you can't get into, into Jalan Samanta.
01:26One and a half hours, sitting in the car park, so you'll come out of your parking bay and you'll be sitting in the car park.
01:34And I said this before, someone has a heart attack, no ambulance can get to this for her.
01:41If there's a fire, no fire engine can find its way in.
01:45That is a safety issue.
01:47This current situation is a safety issue.
01:53We've ever had no value to us.
02:16We have brought a new project like Pavilion.
02:21So when the new project is in Jalan Semantan, we have a look at the same.
02:32Jalan Semantan is important for us to understand.
02:36Jalan Semantan is not only used by the residents of Kedawacara.
04:32Tambah pula dengan bangunan tersebut, it's definitely not going to be sustainable.
04:36It's already sesak. Dengan MRD pun dah sesak.
04:41Lagi dengan projek ini.
04:42Bukit Damansara was the catalyst that got us all going.
04:47Now that we, when we went and looked at the background, we found out that there are many sites, I think I counted nine sites,
04:57that are possible land to be developed.
05:02Some are government land, some are in private hands.
05:05And from there, we got this figure of 21 million feet of property that can be built.
05:14So it's a big thing, but it will take many years.
05:18It won't be, it won't be the next five years, maybe 10 years, 15 years, but eventually it's all.
05:25Because DBKL has set the plot ratios already.
05:29And like somebody mentioned, like in Singapore, the plot ratio is given, but it must suit the conditions of that place, of the area around, not per se.
05:45Take it, oh, you got nine, and you build, and you don't care about the traffic.
05:50This is what our point is, that the traffic is the one, the biggest factor would be traffic.
