The US has agreed to help South Korea build nuclear-powered submarines, marking a major step in expanding the two countries’ security and high-tech cooperation. Washington will assist Seoul with sourcing enriched uranium fuel for the vessels, which will be powered by nuclear energy but not carry nuclear weapons.
