00:00We're on a five-day motorhome journey from Sydney to Blackhead Beach.
00:04We're at Mungo Brush right now and it's just so delightful here.
00:09Here are some of my trip highlights.
00:12After we checked in at the Apollo headquarters in Sydney,
00:16we took some time familiarising ourselves with our motorhome rental,
00:20the Euroquest, which comes complete with a shower and toilet,
00:24kitchen and bed before hitting the road.
00:26We stayed at Ingenia Holiday's One Mile Beach the first night
00:32where I got my first glimpse of white sand.
00:36The campsite is right next door to the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary
00:40so make sure you pop in there for a visit.
00:43They have an on-site koala hospital and a number of cuddly rescue koalas
00:48who are being rehabilitated in lush natural surroundings.
00:52Further north, we stopped for the night at the beautiful Mungo Brush Campground
00:58in New South Wales National Park.
01:02We met a number of birds here, including kookaburras and magpies
01:06and heard, but didn't see, the curious-sounding catbird.
01:12It's so peaceful here, just listening to the water of the mile lakes lapping at the shore.
01:18At dusk, we were joined by a couple of groups of prawners
01:22who took their nets out to try their luck in the bay.
01:26Up the road at the cute country town of Bulladila,
01:29don't miss the homemade cakes at Café on Main.
01:32I recommend the Passion Fruit Coconut Cake, which is to die for.
01:39Next stop was the Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse at Seal Rocks.
01:43The walk from the car park takes you through an oasis of birdsong
01:46and when you emerge, you'll be able to climb to the lighthouse
01:50where you'll have a breathtaking view of the pristine lighthouse beach.
01:55Further up the road at Blackhead Beach, we enjoyed a swim in the sea pool
02:00before winding down over a leisurely dinner at the Halliday Sports Club.
02:05They have a courtesy bus service, which I recommend using
02:08if you're staying up the road at the Diamond Beach Holiday Park like we did.
02:13Then it's time to hit the highway and head back to Sydney,
02:17but not before stopping at Pie in the Sky,
02:20a famous pie shop near the Hawkesbury River.
02:22I got the curry beef, which was so amazing,
02:26I gobbled it up before I could take a video of it.
02:29But luckily, Nick who works there was kind enough
02:31to show us all what the pies look like.
02:34Thanks Nick!
