Modernized vehicles arrive with improved range, accuracy and UAV defense
The industrial group Uralvagonzavod has announced the delivery of a new batch of TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy rocket-launch systems to the Russian Army. The units were shipped already equipped with an upgraded anti-drone protection suite, developed based on experience gained in recent combat operations.
According to Dmitry Semizorov, deputy general director for special equipment at Uralvagonzavod, real combat use remains the main driver of the improvements implemented by the industry.
He emphasized that the core objective is to increase the effectiveness of the TOS system against modern threats, especially UAVs, which have become a constant presence on the battlefield. “The engineers and designers of the industrial group are continuously improving the Solntsepyok, enhancing its characteristics,” Semizorov said.
