This is the highest resolution photo ever taken of the Sun.
Transcript
00:00the sun may be huge but it's still tough to give it the close-up it deserves however recently the
00:09European Space Agency solar orbiter got within 46.6 million miles of it which is actually pretty
00:15close for something that burns that hot and it took these incredible photos the highest resolution
00:20images ever captured of it by mankind the orbiter took 25 photos while it was flying past capturing
00:27this 83 million pixel image of our solar center but the spacecraft wasn't only looking to capture
00:32high-res pictures it also snapped photos of the ultraviolet wavelengths of light the sun sends out
00:37into the universe as well using its spectral imaging of the coronal environment or spice instrument it
00:42captured these each image shows the wavelength of a different element and the ultraviolet frequency
00:47it emits at different temperatures these images are important because there are still some mysteries
00:51scientists are looking to solve with regards to the sun for instance science alert reports the sun's
00:56hottest temperatures are actually recorded further away from its surface and these new images could
01:00help them answer why that is and perhaps provide answers to other unknown phenomena at the center of
01:05our solar system
