00:29Y sí, déjame decirte que la experiencia de verlo interactuar con Oscar Isaac, que hace al doctor Frankenstein en la película, seguramente ya la pudieron ver.

00:42Entonces, queríamos regresar con ello porque estas pláticas valen mucho la pena compartirlas.
00:47Cien por ciento. Y además, a ver, lo que Guillermo ha estado compartiendo a lo largo de estas entrevistas por todo el mundo respecto a lo que significa personalmente haber realizado esta película después de tantísimos años.

01:33I would like to ask each of you one thing that I've always wondered, and now more.
01:54What do you think an eighteen-year-old girl knew in eighteen-sixteen, I think it was, that we're still learning and we'll learn with this version of Frankenstein as well?

03:38I understood different things that I hadn't before.

03:48Well, and as the monster, as the monster, we've, many people think Frankenstein and they think Frankenstein is the monster.

04:13Well, yeah, Mr. Frank, the Dr. Frankenstein, you're not Frankenstein, you're the monster.
04:18I'm the creature.
04:19You're the creature.
04:20How would you explain?
04:20Yeah.
04:21So it's a difference for you?
04:22Oh, between monster and creature, absolutely.
04:24But he's also is Frankenstein, too.
04:25I mean, that's how we do it.
04:26You know?
04:27Yeah.

04:30There are two sides of the same thing.
04:31It's a mirror thing, you know?
04:33I don't think it's an accident that people...

04:36Because that was actually my next question, Guillermo.

04:44We've been discovering monsters so many different ways.
04:47¿Cambió tu noción de la... el concepto monstruo con esto?
04:51Bueno, para mí, la monstruosidad es la capacidad de hacer daño sin considerar ni un momento a la otredad, la otra persona.
05:01Eso es lo que es absolutamente brutal.
05:04O sea, puedes incluso en la vida hacer daño, pero considerar a la otra persona y decir, no ausentarte de todo eso.
05:12Y lo que tiene Víctor, que es fabuloso, es la manera en que recolecta los cadáveres y los tira en sacos, sin pensar ni un momento quién es este soldado, de quién agarrar la mano.
05:25Es la manera en que considera el mundo.
05:27Su hermano es un obstáculo para llegar a Elizabeth.
05:30Harlander es un medio para obtener dinero.
05:33O sea, todo es...
05:35Y Elizabeth es un obstáculo para llegar a su mamá.

05:40Es realmente muy doloroso para mí ver a alguien con tanta certeza y tanta ignorancia.
05:47Pero lamentablemente, en el mundo en que vivimos, la gente que dicta las leyes o cómo debe ser el mundo, mayormente es ignorante de la naturaleza humana.

06:00And when you were filming this, I'm sure your emotions were quite up there.
06:04Can you describe some of the things you felt while filming it, and then while seeing it next on screen?
06:12Jacob?
06:12Well, I felt very much parallel to the creature the whole time shooting.
06:21I felt like I was outside the world looking in at it.
06:25I didn't feel like I was part of it, which was really quite cathartic, I suppose.
06:34But I was also filled with an immense joy.
06:37I knew how every morning when I would walk onto set and see Guillermo sitting in a chair waiting, sort of sketching something,
06:44or Oscar in his heeled boots with the velvet on that, I was very aware that something magical was happening.
06:54And that, you know, you were very much in this moment of great beauty, you know, which was exciting.
06:58Era muy latino, o sea, era muy, con mucho humor.
07:05Y luego los momentos de emoción de ellos a mí me afectaban mucho.
07:10O sea, yo no imprimía hasta que yo lloraba.
07:12Si no lloraba yo en el momento, no había llegado.

07:53Para mí, el jovencito Frankenstein es una obra maestra.
07:56Está basada mucho en una película de Universal que era El Hijo de Frankenstein, más que las dos primeras de Whale, pero es absolutamente, no solo una de las mejores comedias, sino una de las mejores películas de Frankenstein.

08:12Pues, fue una delicia.
08:14Y, ¿sabes qué? Poder hablar con Guillermo del Toro acerca de Mel Brooks.

08:19O sea, porque obviamente no podíamos cerrar esa entrevista sin preguntar de El Joven Frankenstein.

08:24Que coincidió Guillermo, es una de las mejores comedias de todos los tiempos. Así que búsquela, búsquela, por favor.
08:30Y qué maravilla, ¿no? Qué maravilla que él ya pueda sentirse liberado también en esa parte creativamente.
08:36Y a mí me impresiona saber y me causa mucha curiosidad qué es lo que viene para él, porque justamente yo creo que esta es una película que vamos a ver nominada en la mayoría de las premiaciones.
08:48Porque es una película redonda, como la quieras ver en todo su lenguaje cinematográfico, más allá de ser una adaptación.
08:56Lo es, es maravillosa y, pues, ahí seguiremos hablando de ella sin duda.
09:00Otra serie que se estrenó la semana pasada, es una miniserie, es espectacularmente buena.
09:06Se llama Muerte por un Rayo, también es Netflix.
09:09Y es una historia del presidente número 20 de los Estados Unidos, que muy poca gente sabe de él, porque James Garfield solo vivió tres meses como presidente y lo asesinaron.
09:23Lo asesinó un hombre llamado Charles Guito.
09:27Y nadie sabía esto, históricamente fue olvidado.
09:29La serie va de eso y es de las mejores cosas que he visto en mucho tiempo, porque además el asesino, y no es spoiler, así empieza, igual que Hamilton diciendo sí, esta es la historia de un presidente y de su asesino.
09:41Lo que importa es cómo llegaron ahí.
09:43A él lo interpreta nuestro queridísimo Matty McPyden, o, para muchos, Tom de Succession.
09:50Platicamos con él y esto nos dice.
09:52Los hombres como nosotros debemos de abrirnos paso hasta la cima.
09:56¿Puedo lograr un cambio?
09:57Sé que tengo un destino mucho más grande.

10:20¿Cómo do you think that happens and how do you think people are going to revise history after this one?
10:26Yeah, Garfield was like the best president America never had.
10:33But I think he was genuinely thought to be a very decent, fundamentally lovely, decent, thoughtful public servant.
10:44The fact that you, I think this is something we can say because we know it from the very beginning.
10:49You play his assassin.
10:51Yep.
10:53Is there something about the fact that at the time he was taking it as somebody who had a particular mental state or whatever and not a political front?
11:04Do you think that's something that could possibly happen today or is everything different in that sense?
11:09I certainly think it could happen today.
11:13I mean, it's not, you know, he's, Guiteau is not well psychologically and not, you know, has all kinds of issues that now we would understand.
11:22But then we didn't.
11:24And so, yeah, I sort of, I don't know, it just seems horribly plausible.
11:29You know, people fall through the cracks and have difficult lives and don't feel heard and don't feel valued.
11:37And I think Charlie was like that and wanted desperately to be part of something, you know, wanted validation.
11:43These are all things that resonate now.
11:47People, you know, people feel powerless and not seen.
11:51That's, you know, that's what sort of applies to him as well.
11:56And so when he's rejected, it's, and he suffers from delusions of grandeur and all kinds of narcissistic qualities.
12:05And so you sort of trace the line from Little Oddbot at the beginning to the assassin of the president.
12:10I think he'd, you know, it's a fascinating and plausible and sad story.
12:17And it's sad because you, it's a waste of life.
12:21It's a waste of a presidency which could have been extremely impactful in ways that we don't, we'll never know, you know.
12:30¿Qué tal el calibre?
12:31Me encanta, es que él puede ser Tom, puede ser el, puede ser el villano de Deadpool y puede ser el asesino de un presidente de los Estados Unidos.
