00:00A nearly 2,500-foot bridge recently opened in southwest China, gone in just seconds.

00:06Officials saying a landslide is to blame.

00:08But no reports of casualties, as authorities say they had closed off the bridge to all traffic a day prior to the collapse,

00:15after local officials discovered cracks in the structure, saying the ground surrounding it was unstable.

00:23Footage of Tuesday's bridge collapse soon hit social media,

00:27as dust consumed mountainous terrain in the area, and chunks of the bridge fell into the river below.

00:33The bridge had served as a link between China's heartland and Tibet,

00:37touted as a major infrastructure milestone by local officials when it opened this April.

00:42But all that remains of the reported $1.3 million bridge now,

00:46remnants of what was once a connected national highway.

00:50The company managing the bridge has reportedly taken down all promotions of the structure from its website.

00:55China is rapidly expanding infrastructure projects,

00:58but the speed at which they're doing so has raised safety concerns,

01:02after multiple workers were killed in a bridge collapse in northwest China earlier this year.
