00:00The world's highest bridge is now open in China.
00:03It surpasses the height of the previous record holder,
00:06which also sits in the same southern province.
00:11The Wajian Grand Bridge sits at more than 2,000 feet high
00:15and is also the world's longest bridge in a mountainous area about 4,600 feet across.
00:21It will reportedly slash commute times across a canyon from two hours to just three minutes.
00:26The bridge features a high-speed glass elevator, coffee shop,
00:31and a bungee jump area where thrill-seekers can jump from 1,900 feet.
00:36The world record structure sits in the Guzau province,
00:39and its construction is intended to spur economic growth and increase tourism.
00:44Since the 1980s, the number of bridges in the area has grown from around 2,900 to more than 32,000.
00:51Now the world's second-highest bridge, the Duj Bridge,
00:54in the same province, sits at nearly 1,900 feet and opened in 2016.
00:59If you're wondering, the newest Chinese bridge is more than twice as high as the highest bridge in the U.S.
