00:00Well, we always wanted sort of a Carol Burnett type and I never thought in a million years she'd

00:06actually do it. And then our casting director, Carrie Barton, said, well, why don't we just,

00:10all you can do is ask. And I was like, oh, okay, well, I don't think she would ever do this. And

00:18then she said yes immediately. It's just such a dream come true. Well, gosh, I would cast Carol

00:24Burnett as anything, honestly. I don't know if it's so much this is just like the only person

00:29to go play. She can do anything. I don't know if I've ever seen anybody get a laugh by, by,

00:37you know, with just a little twitch of the face laying still. But she did just stealing scenes

00:43that she was literally sleeping through. It was, it was good. That's what a master she is. In season

00:48two, she texted me and she said, gosh, wouldn't it be fun now that Norma's out and about to just

00:54really, to make her even more imposing if she had this really beautiful cane? So that was Carol's

01:01idea. And she's, we were texting back and forth and she said, and wouldn't it be funny if it's

01:07like, that's where she, that's, that's where she keeps her flask. And I said, no, no, no, no. I said,

01:14she doesn't have to hide her drinking. She'll drink in public. I said, that's where Norma keeps her gun.

01:17And she, and Carol wrote back, that's brilliant. Great. And so we had the prop department build that

01:26cane that can be a gun. Oh gosh, there are, there's so many. But I will say it was pretty thrilling

01:35this season when we were shooting the scene where Norma's driving a fan boat in the ocean

01:43and we call action and we, we, the crane comes and pushes in past the boat and Carol's sitting

01:50on this fan boat. And she let out the biggest Tarzan yell just for the crew. Uh, it was really,

01:58uh, exciting. And we yelled cut and the whole crew just clapped. She goes, okay, okay, don't use that.

02:02Well, let's do a real one. Um, but of course we, we did end up stealing the sound from that moment

02:07and slipping it into the series. So I encourage everybody to look out for it. It is there.

02:12Gosh, seamlessly. They slipped right in. I mean, and they're, and both John and Patty are,

02:17are just such consummate, um, actors, such masters of their craft and so skilled that,

02:27that, you know, that they've, they've, they've folded into the ensemble, you know,

02:32completely seamlessly. I have to say, I was so excited to be able to come back to these characters

02:37and to now that I know all of the actors so well and know what, um, beyond what I, you know,

02:46the capabilities that I knew of them being fans, being a fan of theirs. Uh, but now after working

02:52with them for a year, coming back in season two and saying, okay, the, now that I know you personally,

02:56these are all the places that I know you can go as an artist and, and making sure with everybody

03:02that we, that we went there.
