Nach vielen Jahren ist Valve zurück im Konsolengeschäft! Mit der Steam Machine  startet Valve den zweiten Versuch, sich neben PlayStation, Xbox und Nintendo zu platzieren. Es handelt sich bei der Spiele-Maschine um einen Mini-PC mit fester Hardware, auf der SteamOS läuft. Das Konzept ähnelt also sehr dem Steam Deck und dessen Erfolg soll sich wohl auf die Steam Machine übertragen.

Was die Valve-Konsole kann? In unserer Ankündigungs-News haben wir bereits einen ersten Vergleich zur PS5 gezogen, da die Steam Machine ihr am nächsten kommt. Außerdem haben wir uns dabei den Steam Controller angeschaut, der komplett neu designt wurde und viele Bedienelemente des Steam Deck verwendet.

Im Trailer zeigt Valve aber auch noch die kabellose Steam Frame-VR-Brille. Sie verfügt über LC-Displays mit Pancake-Linsen und jeweils 2160 x 2160 Pixeln, ein Sichtfeld von 110 Grad und bis zu 144 Hertz. Ihr könnt sie auch ohne PC nutzen, da in dem VR-Headset ein Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-SoC verbaut ist sowie 16 Gigabyte LPDDR5X RAM und wahlweise ein 256 Gigabyte oder 1 Terabyte großer Speicher.

Hinzu kommen außerdem:

• ein Dual-Wi-Fi-7-Empfänger für PC-Streaming und WLAN gleichzeitig
• zwei integrierte Lautsprecher
• vier Kameras für Tracking nach außen
• zwei Kameras innen für Eyetracking
