00:00And I know that in the intro to the memoir, you write that Chloe, one of your other Dance Moms
00:05co-stars, encouraged you to share your story in this way. Was that the first time that you were
00:10considering writing a memoir? I mean, I've always wanted to write a book, a memoir. After the show
00:16ended, I think I was like 16 when the show like officially ended. And I was, for some reason,
00:22I was like, I need to write my book right now. I'm so happy I didn't. I would have said things I
00:26would definitely regret. I was definitely too still in it. But now having like time away,
00:33it's given me so much time to reflect on my experiences. It felt like the right time,
00:38especially when I feel like after like the post 2020 world, I feel like everyone's just like more
00:45receptive about talking about race. And a huge part of my story is being the only black girl on the
00:50show for a majority of the show and how that's affected me. And I feel like people can actually
00:55understand where I'm coming from now and can will actually sit down and listen and read and actually
01:03want to take something away from it, which I'm grateful for. I'm grateful for that we can have
01:08these conversations. And hopefully it helps other people as well.
