00:00Thank you for calling Visa Security Department.
00:03I am from the National Crime Agency.
00:05If you talk to me, then I will guide you.
00:08Every day, we're being bombarded by scammers.
00:11I've got no money in my bank.
00:13How much I have to pay?
00:16But we are fighting back.
00:18Working with ethical hacker Jim Browning, who hacks into scam call centres,
00:23we can tap into this criminal network and track down the victims to stop the scammers
00:29before they steal.
00:31You should not buy those gift cards.
00:32You're going to lose your money.
00:33What was that?
00:34What was that?
00:35I can assure you that nothing they're saying is true.
00:37You're on the phone to a scammer, Malak.
00:39You need to hang up the phone.
00:43This is Scam Interceptors.
00:50On today's episode...
00:52You have to be strong to face this situation right now,
00:55and we are here to help you out with that, okay?
00:58A cruel scammer pushes one woman to the brink.
01:01I'm struggling in all of this.
01:04I will cooperate with you, whatever you want.
01:09To get his hands on her money.
01:13Okay, let's see what we can do with this, okay?
01:16Whatever the information that's linked with your name has to be...
01:19We join the Glasgow Scam Hub today at a particularly tense moment.
01:23Now, understand one thing here.
01:25The information that you have given us here, that will be the only protected information,
01:29okay?
01:30We've got a number there, yeah?
01:31Yeah.
01:32A ruthless scammer is claiming to be working for the UK's National Crime Agency,
01:37Britain's leading agency tackling serious and organised crime.
01:41He's lying to a woman here in the UK, telling her she's at risk of being arrested.
01:47Yeah.
01:48The crime is happening under your name, the fraud is going on under your name.
01:53They have issued an address to warrant under your name to our police station.
01:56Do you know what address to warrant means?
01:58Okay.
01:59Yeah, I know.
02:00Ethical hacker Jim Browning has got access to the call centre where the scammer is based.
02:07It's in Srinagar, a city in Indian-administered Kashmir.
02:12The scam we're listening to here is horrible.
02:16It is scammers pretending to be the authorities, both the police and the National Crime Agency
02:22and some kind of legal department of our national insurance system in the UK.
02:26They use robocalls to cold call people in the UK
02:29and tell them that their national insurance number has been compromised
02:32and that criminals are using it to fund criminal activity.
02:36They then try and tell them that in order to fix that situation,
02:39they have to prove that the money in their bank account is their own.
02:43And the woman that they're talking to at the moment, unfortunately, has gone for it.
02:46She's been on the phone for them for 15 minutes.
02:48We are not waiting for the rest of you, because...
02:50Yes, yes, please do me first. We are not going to do that yet.
02:53Because we have verified your password card.
02:55We never found any kind of criminal fraud under your name like that
02:59and your bank records are clear.
03:01We came to know that here, okay?
03:03That's why we believe this could be someone else.
03:06So that's the reason you don't have to share this case information to anyone else, okay?
03:10So right now, what we have to do, I'm going to explain it now here in the law, okay?
03:16From Alice monitoring the call at an early stage, we have a phone number for the woman.
03:23Nick tries to warn her.
03:25I'm going to explain to you now. If you have any questions, you can ask me that.
03:29She didn't take a call.
03:30So I've just tried to ring her. She didn't answer.
03:33That's the only number we've got for her.
03:35To resolve the situation, there is a law that has been designed by the UK government.
03:40That's called ADR law or ADR protocol.
03:44With the help of that law, you will get a new national insurance number as well by the department.
03:49The scammer is telling the woman that she's under investigation
03:53because her national insurance number is being used for criminal activity.
03:58Unless she can prove her innocence, he says she'll be arrested.
04:03But he promises to help her through what he says is an alternative dispute resolution process or ADR.
04:11We have to prove yourself innocent to the court.
04:16And how are we going to do that?
04:17We have to, first of all, digitalize your money in the form of gift cards.
04:21Those gift cards will be available in the nearby supermarket store.
04:24Then we have to register those gift cards with the National Crime Agency as the evidence, okay?
04:30This scam is both cruel and complex.
04:34It hinges on persuading the woman that she needs to prove that the money in her bank account is her own
04:40and not the proceeds of crime.
04:42And to do that, she must purchase gift cards from a local supermarket.
04:49The scammers frame that as the way that you're going to prove to the authorities that your money is your own.
04:53You go and buy gift cards, they will then cash them out and give you your money back.
04:57With the help of those accounts, you're going to prove your accounts are legal.
05:01The money you're having in those accounts are your legal and hard-earned money.
05:05By doing so, your name will be pulled after the case, your arrest warrant will be cancelled
05:10and you will be provided a new national insurance number by the court itself.
05:14And everything will be fine when the officers will come to meet you, okay?
05:19But actually, I'm really now, I'm really worried about me.
05:23Actually, I don't know anything about this nation.
05:26And in India, in my home country, I was, like, my parents, they always take care of me.
05:32Of course, yes. Let me tell you one thing here.
05:34And they paid my all-college fees, my everything.
05:37Exactly, yes.
05:38And...
05:39Oh, man, this is hard to hear.
05:40And I don't know...
05:41It sounds, from what she was saying there, like she's a student, basically.
05:44Yes.
05:45And she's in the UK, probably very recently, and her parents help her deal with this kind of thing.
05:48So, she's very scared. She really doesn't know what's going on at all.
05:51But the thing is now, I'm struggling in all of this.
05:57Yes.
05:58All right.
05:59And I'm...
06:00Yeah, let me tell you one thing. I completely understand your situation.
06:03I'm going to message her, guys.
06:04That's why we are here.
06:21She has just told the scammers, unfortunately, the amount of money that she has paid was definitely
06:27the amount that they're going to be interested in.
06:29So, don't worry. Don't get stressed out.
06:31I understand this is new to you.
06:33If I was at your place, I could have felt the same.
06:36Okay?
06:37But you have to understand.
06:38You have to make some efforts.
06:39You have to be a little bit brave about this.
06:42You have to be strong to face the situation right now.
06:45And we are here to help you out with that.
06:47Okay?
06:50He's really putting her through the mill.
06:52Yeah.
06:53She's really stressed.
06:54This ridiculous window dressing that they do.
06:56Horrible.
06:57At one point, he actually said to her,
06:59don't worry.
07:00If I was in your position, I'd also feel stressed.
07:02So, trying to empathise with her is pretty sick.
07:04It's like the gaslighting.
07:05It's horrible.
07:06Simultaneously empathising and making her more terrified.
07:08Very nasty.
07:09As we came to know, you're facing this situation for the first time in your life here in the UK.
07:15We understand that.
07:18Interceptor Alice has overheard the scammer mentioning the city of Preston.
07:23A vital clue in our search for this woman.
07:26Given how advanced this scam is and the fact that we have seen it move quite quickly from this stage through to the buying of gift cards at a local shop,
07:35we've dispatched our northern team of ground interceptors who are about an hour away from Preston to where we think this woman is.
07:41Nick brings ground team Nathan and Lauren up to speed.
07:50What we're listening to, guys, is a scam by this group who are pretending to be some kind of legal department related to our national insurance numbers.
08:03It's horrible and it's quite complicated and it specifically seems to work on people who are either recently arrived in the UK because basically every person we've heard talking to these scammers is not necessarily speaking English as a first language.
08:16OK.
08:17Right.
08:18So the woman we're hearing in the scam at the moment, we think she's in Preston.
08:21As soon as we know where roughly she is, which supermarket she's going to be going to, we'll get you there to try and intercept her, OK?
08:25OK.
08:26OK.
08:27She sounds very scared.
08:28She's very confused.
08:29So I'm hopeful that we can get you guys somewhere near where she is.
08:30Yeah.
08:31OK.
08:32We are going to have that now.
08:33We'll get there as soon as we can.
08:34Nick returns to monitoring the scam and what he and the team now hear is a scammer getting dangerously close to his endgame.
08:51And now you can let me know, do you have any nearby supermarket store over there, like any Tesco, Morrison, Sainsbury?
08:59Yeah, there is a Tesco shop, but it's 14 minutes by walk.
09:04That's fine.
09:05Everything will be fine after you're going to complete the protocol.
09:08OK?
09:10OK.
09:11So now what you need to do, we have to do it right here, right now.
09:14You will need to get ready.
09:16I'll be on a call with you, grab your ID and your debit card and come outside.
09:23The scammer has told the woman to set off for a Tesco supermarket and that he'll keep the phone line open throughout the process.
09:31Unfortunately for us, having a quick look at the map of Preston, there are one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine Tesco's in Preston.
09:42So we need to narrow it down, guys.
09:44Can we look into which Tesco's are nearest to student accommodation in Preston?
09:50Absolutely. I'm looking at that right now.
09:51OK, great.
09:52How much of your phone is going to charge right now? What is the battery that is on the phone?
09:55It's all.
09:57The scammer leaves nothing to chance. He's even checking that the woman has enough phone battery.
10:03In the meantime, keep your phone charging, OK?
10:06OK.
10:07You're by yourself right now. There is no one around you in your home right now.
10:11No, no one. No one. No one.
10:13They're rushing her into this.
10:15Our scammer's really ramping up the pressure now.
10:18And, obviously, the more he can impart upon her the urgency of the situation,
10:22the less she's going to be able to act within her normal rational mind,
10:26the less she's going to be able to make quality decisions about what's going on.
10:30And that's, of course, what the scammer wants.
10:33To add even more pressure, the scammer starts playing a few tricks.
10:37Here we go, walkie-talkies.
10:39As window dressing, the scammer plays recordings of walkie-talkie police calls down the phone line,
10:49all to persuade the young woman that he is part of a criminal investigation.
10:57So, this poor girl's going to go and get ready.
11:00They are still connected on the phone with her.
11:03She's been on the phone with them for half an hour now.
11:05Maybe another text message or something to try and pull her out?
11:08You're quite right. I've dropped her another text now.
11:12Once the woman leaves her home,
11:14she'll be only minutes away from buying the gift cards.
11:17And soon after that, the scammer will persuade her
11:21to either read out or photograph their code numbers.
11:25Once he has these, he can spend the woman's money.
11:29Gift cards are difficult to trace,
11:31and if the money on them is spent,
11:33it's unlikely she would get a refund.
11:37I've texted her twice.
11:39I'm WhatsAppping her.
11:41I'm watching the Northern GIs absolutely racing along at the moment through Rochdale.
11:46They are making their way over to the motorway.
11:50The ground interceptors are getting closer,
11:54but are still at least 30 minutes away,
11:57and the scammers getting impatient.
12:00Hello.
12:01Hello.
12:03Yeah, Miss, are you ready now?
12:06Yeah, I'm ready.
12:07I'm gonna try and ring her again.
12:08Let me tell you one thing here.
12:09We have to safeguard and digitalise all the money you are having in the account, okay?
12:14But you won't be able to get the cards for all the money in one store.
12:19So you may need to go to the two stores or three stores like that
12:22so you could get the cards from them, okay?
12:24So frustrating having no other information to go on.
12:29Nice.
12:30So frustrating.
12:31Our hands are tied.
12:33Nick bombards the woman with multiple texts and phone calls.
12:37She doesn't answer, but it sounds as if we do have the right number.
12:41I got two calls, missed calls from private number.
12:45Oh, that's us?
12:46That was me.
12:47You don't have to answer any calls like that,
12:48because right now, let me tell you,
12:50the person that are using your name, like the fraudsters,
12:53they may try to mislead you.
12:55They may try to give you the wrong information about this.
12:58So you can block those numbers.
13:00The scammer succeeds in keeping the woman on track,
13:04and there's little time left for us to intervene.
13:07Yeah, actually, yeah, I'm outside my house,
13:12and I'm on the way to Tesco.
13:15She's walking to Tesco now, guys.
13:16I think it's worth painting a picture
13:18of what's actually going on here for a minute,
13:20because you're listening to this guy rattling this information off
13:22at an unbelievable speed and this incredibly threatening tone.
13:26The thing to remember is that the person he's talking to
13:28is a young woman who's in a completely new country,
13:32and this guy's got her out walking the streets of Preston
13:34looking for gift cards to buy so that he can steal her money.
13:39Oh, that gives me a bit of a shiver of just horrible.
13:43All right, I can see there is not only Tesco there.
13:47There are actually...
13:50Do you know the Nissan... Nissan car showroom?
13:54Nissan car showroom?
13:55There can't be many of them in Preston.
13:57So, I think she's near Bird Street, probably. Bird Street or Taylor Street.
14:04The team track the woman's location.
14:07As does the scammer.
14:09All right.
14:10Miss, do you know where is North Road?
14:122-4-0... Hang on, wait, wait, wait. North Road, North Road.
14:15What's he saying?
14:17Why is he asking for North Road?
14:21Why is he asking for North Road?
14:22There is an Iceland store that is there.
14:24I think he's watching there on a map and he wants to send her there.
14:26That is a Tesco Express, right?
14:29Tesco Express, North Road, OK.
14:31Harleen starts calling the supermarkets we think the woman may be heading for.
14:36Yeah, so my name's Harleen Naughty.
14:37I'm a reporter on BBC One's Scam Interceptors, and...
14:42If she can get through, she might be able to warn the staff
14:44to look out for a young woman buying high-value gift cards.
14:50Let me tell you one thing what you need to do.
14:51Miss, I have to instruct you about the gift cards here.
14:54The gift cards you need to purchase, the government has chosen only some gift cards.
14:59The name of the gift cards are Apple gift cards, Amazon gift cards or John Lewis, OK?
15:05Actually, one thing. Can I go to the police station first?
15:09Great idea. She just asked if she can go to the police station instead.
15:14If you come to the police station straight away without informing anyone,
15:19without protocol, what will happen?
15:22Then your account, your national insurance number will be seized directly.
15:25All the accounts will be seized.
15:28Don't worry, miss. Everything will be fine here.
15:30It's just, we have to follow the protocol and get this done.
15:35OK?
15:36This is horrible.
15:37This is horrible. She's so upset.
15:38The GIs are tweeted two minutes away, guys.
15:42All we know is that she is on the way to a supermarket now.
15:47I'm feeling really worried that we're not going to get there in time.
15:54This is extremely stressful and unpleasant, not just for her, but for us as well,
15:59because we can't get through to her.
16:00We've tried so many different ways.
16:01We've got GIs on the way there, and unfortunately,
16:03they're not going to make it before she gets to a shop.
16:05She's out on the road right now.
16:08And this guy is just laying on so thick right now.
16:14Keep away from the police.
16:15And make sure, do not share any case information with the store guys as well.
16:19So if they will ask you, why do you need these cars?
16:22Tell them, there's a wedding coming up.
16:24We are gifting these cars.
16:25OK?
16:26Or there is a Christmas coming up.
16:28I am gifting these cars.
16:29Like that.
16:30This is for my personal view.
16:31OK?
16:32I wish we could help her, but I just, I don't know what to do now.
16:35I am going to Tesco.
16:36How much time is it going to take you more now from the store?
16:39Five minutes, maximum.
16:43Five minutes, guys.
16:44I'm sorry, what is it?
16:46She's going to be there in five minutes, Harleen.
16:47Five minutes.
16:48She's going to get to that fryer gate, Tesco, in five minutes.
16:50I believe you understand the whole protocol, right?
16:53So if you have any questions to ask me, you can ask me here.
16:56OK?
16:57As Harleen talks to the supermarket.
17:00I really appreciate your help.
17:02I'm trying to WhatsApp her now.
17:03Nick sends more messages.
17:05Well, the thing is, I'm really worried.
17:08You are saying that you will come.
17:13How might this call scam you?
17:18She thinks it's a scam.
17:19She might have read our messages.
17:20Listen to me, listen to me properly first.
17:22To tell you one thing.
17:23If I was frauding you, I would have told you straight away
17:26to transfer the money to my account, right?
17:29Yeah.
17:30Have I told you that?
17:31No.
17:32Did I told you to transfer the money to my account?
17:36No.
17:37But the thing is, I didn't purchase a gift card before this.
17:44And even I didn't use gift card.
17:47Nice.
17:48She's having major second thoughts right now.
17:50I'm going to purchase a card.
17:51OK?
17:52Miss, I'm here.
17:53The National Crime Agency is there on your WhatsApp.
17:55They are there.
17:56Ooh!
17:57All right.
17:58The call's disconnected.
17:59OK.
18:00She hung up.
18:01She's either hung up or there's a bad signal.
18:05Either way, it's Nick's chance to get through.
18:07I'm calling her.
18:08Oh, come on.
18:09I can't get through.
18:10I think she might have just tried to call me.
18:12I'm trying to call her again.
18:13Hello?
18:14Hello?
18:15The woman is back on the phone, but to the scammer.
18:21Yeah, Miss Nicole got disconnected. Are you in the store now?
18:23Yeah.
18:24Yeah.
18:25And she's now inside the supermarket.
18:26OK.
18:27So do one thing, go to the gift card section directly. There are the gift card sections there.
18:31You can check that.
18:32Yeah.
18:33You can ask anyone.
18:34So the question is, will the Tesco's person that Harleen just spoke to get the message through to this branch in time to stop her from buying these gift cards?
18:40No.
18:41No.
18:42No.
18:43No.
18:44No.
18:45No.
18:46No.
18:47No.
18:48No.
18:49No.
18:50No.
18:51No.
18:52No.
18:53No.
18:54No.
18:55No.
18:56No.
18:57No.
18:58No.
18:59No.
19:00No.
19:01No.
19:02No.
19:03No.
19:04No.
19:05No.
19:06Oh, no.
19:07No.
19:08No.
19:09No.
19:10No.
19:11No.
19:12No.
19:13No.
19:14The GIs are quite close.
19:15Yeah.
19:16You can ask them, do they have more cards of Amazon?
19:20The situation is critical.
19:23The woman's only seconds away from buying the gift cards.
19:28Nick makes a decision.
19:31So I've just messaged Jim to ask if he can kill the call for us
19:34because it's a very nuclear option for us.
19:36We don't like doing it because it risks all our access to this call centre.
19:39They're going to be very suspicious as to why the call has suddenly dropped.
19:42But in a situation like this where someone is directly about to lose money,
19:46if she takes my call...
19:49OK, just listen out, guys, for the moment that I can press go on this.
19:54That's it, that's it, go on.
19:55That's it.
19:56Going now.
19:58Three.
20:00With the scam call cut, Nick has a chance to get through.
20:06Hello.
20:07Hi there, miss. My name is Nick Stapleton.
20:09I work for a programme called Scam Interceptors.
20:12I need to tell you, the person you're talking to is not the police.
20:17They are lying to you, they're a scammer and they're trying to steal your money.
20:21Please do not buy gift cards.
20:25OK.
20:25They are lying to you. Everything they have said to you is not true.
20:30There is nothing wrong with your national insurance number.
20:32It's all total lies. They just want to steal your money.
20:38OK.
20:39So, take a breath. I can assure you that nothing they're saying is true, OK? You have nothing to worry about at all.
20:46Yeah, that's exactly what you should do if you're worried. You should go straight to the police
21:00and ask them about this and ask them about this and I promise you, I promise you that they will tell you that this person is lying to you and nothing is wrong, OK?
21:09OK.
21:10Do you mind if I ask you what your name is?
21:12My name is Monica.
21:14Monica, I'm Nick. Nice to meet you.
21:16Nice to meet you. You go to the police station and have a conversation with them, OK?
21:21If this guy tries to ring you back and tries to carry on telling you you need to buy gift cards or you need to do X, Y or Z, do not do it.
21:29He's a liar, he's a criminal and he's trying to steal your money.
21:33OK. Can you please stay here? Stay on the line because...
21:37Yeah, of course. Of course. That's fine. No problem at all.
21:40Yeah, because I'm on the... I've been here to the constant registration so there is, you know, there are lots of police.
21:47Yeah, of course. That's absolutely fine. I can stay on the line with you. Don't worry.
21:52Monica heads to the railway station in the hope of finding a police officer.
21:56Yeah. I'm still here. So if you want to talk, that's absolutely fine.
22:00But if you just want to walk to where you're going, that's fine too.
22:07Are you OK?
22:09Yeah, I'm OK. But this I don't discuss this and it's anyone.
22:14I know. So the reason that they say that to you is because they want to stop you from being able to ask anybody about it.
22:23OK.
22:24So you just take your time, OK?
22:27OK.
22:28With Monica on her way to the train station, interceptor Mark diverts the ground team there as well to provide extra support.
22:36By the sound of things, she's in the train station right now trying to find a police officer to speak to.
22:41I'm just staying on the call with her for reassurance.
22:44Obviously, I can talk to the police officer as well when she does find somebody.
22:46Hi.
22:48Please, can you please call me?
22:50Yeah, what's up?
22:51From our last one, I'm getting the call.
22:54Can you tell me what's going on?
22:55There was a question.
22:56Monica talks to the police, then hands the phone to Nick.
23:01Hello, my name's Nick.
23:04Sorry, who am I talking to?
23:06Hi, my name's Nick Stapleton.
23:08Nick explains to the police officer what's happened to Monica.
23:12This young lady, Monica, she's been on the phone with a scammer this morning for over an hour.
23:17Outside the railway station, the ground interceptors arrive.
23:24Lauren heads to the station police office as Nick continues to reassure Monica.
23:29You doing all right, Monica?
23:31Yeah, I'm fine.
23:33Good.
23:33OK, you just take a breath, honestly.
23:35I promise you, you've got nothing to worry about.
23:41On the ground, Lauren takes over.
23:44Last visit.
23:45She finds Monica.
23:48What they must have put you through is so difficult.
23:54Lauren gives Monica a chance to catch her breath after her ordeal.
24:01With Monica reassured she is not in any danger, Lauren dials into the hub.
24:08Hi.
24:09How are you?
24:10Hi.
24:11Yeah, I'm good.
24:13That must have been a really scary experience.
24:15Yeah, it's really, and thank you so much.
24:19Thank you so much.
24:21Because of you, I, you know, you saved me.
24:24You called me on the exact time.
24:26On the time you called me when I was going to purchase the Amazon gift card.
24:31The card was in my hand.
24:33I was just going to the counter.
24:35I was just going to, like, purchase that card.
24:37You actually had it in your hand?
24:39Yeah.
24:39The card was in my hand.
24:41I was just going to purchase and you called me.
24:44I picked your call.
24:45Wow.
24:45I'm so glad we got through when we did.
24:47I'm so glad.
24:48And I just wanted to make sure that you were okay.
24:51It must have been so scary.
24:52What they were saying to you was horrible.
24:53Yeah, it was scary.
24:55It was scary.
24:56Because, you know, that, that first, that was the first time that I just met with this situation.
25:03And, you know, they did, like, they brain, they did brainwash.
25:07They exactly did, like, that you have to follow us.
25:11So you have to follow our, what we are saying.
25:15You can't text to anyone, not your family, not your friend, no one.
25:19Just to make sure that you're okay now, I think it's a really good idea to talk to someone from your family or a friend about this and just tell them what happened, you know?
25:28Yeah, and now I'm okay.
25:30But at that time, I was, you know, I was scared.
25:34I was, literally, I was crying.
25:36And I was saying that the police don't, please don't arrest me.
25:39When I came here to the train station, I met with the train police.
25:44And I was saying that, oh, now they will arrest me.
25:48I was thinking the things that are coming in my mind that they will arrest me, they will put me in the jail.
25:53But I didn't done any fraud.
25:56I get you, Monica.
25:57I hear you.
25:58Well, look, I'm really glad we were able to help.
26:00And I hope that you're able to relax, enjoy the rest of your day and just put this out of your mind.
26:05Because none of it is true, obviously.
26:07You're safe.
26:07Don't worry.
26:08Yeah, thank you so much.
26:10No worries, Monica.
26:11You have a great day, okay?
26:12Okay, thank you.
26:16Bye.
26:17Bye.
26:18Ooh, well done, team.
26:20That was so close.
26:21Wow.
26:22That was, like, as close as it gets.
26:25She was in the shop and about to buy those gift cards.
26:27Honestly, I felt so sorry for her.
26:29She was so scared.
26:31Yeah.
26:31Emotion in her voice.
26:32You could hear, couldn't you?
26:33It was listening to her voice.
26:35Exactly as you said, Nick, when you're not from this country, you're in a new place, you've no family nearby, you've got some random person phoning you up saying your identity has been stolen.
26:44I can only imagine how terrifying that would be.
26:47That was horrible to listen to.
26:49Really unpleasant.
26:50And I hope that the next, you know, few days and weeks and months of her experience in the UK are going to be a bit better than today was.
26:56Yeah, here's your pen.
26:58Glad we could help.
26:58We confronted the NCA scammers about their criminal activity.
27:04They denied all of our allegations.
27:07We have since reported our findings to the authorities in India.
27:12We also contacted the National Crime Agency about the scammers impersonating it.
27:17And it told us it would never contact individuals requesting money, gift cards or bank details.
27:25If you are being pressured into buying a gift card for someone else, just stop and take a moment.
27:32Neither the bank, the police, nor any legitimate company will ever ask you to make payment via a gift card.
27:39If you have purchased any cards, never share the numbers on the back or send photos of the cards to anyone.
27:45If you think you've been the victim of a gift card scam, there are a few steps you should take immediately.
27:51Call your bank, report the fraud and tell them you've been tricked into making the payment.
27:59Contact the gift card company directly.
28:02They may be able to put a stop to the money being redeemed.
28:06Report to Action Fraud, the UK's central point for reporting fraud to the police.
28:11If you're in Scotland, contact the police on 101.
28:14Do not follow up.
28:16I'm here to watch for this party.
28:17Amen.
28:35Try andpezca.
28:38Do not pay forora years.
