Lagos shines again as the 2025 GT Cool Fashion Weekend takes place center stage here at
00:29
Oniru Lagos with a vibrant fusion of style, culture and creativity redefining fashion.
00:36
I am Tim Mitaio for Guardian TV. I will be taking you through this journey so sit back and relax.
00:53
What inspired your outfit? My mother, my mother inspired my outfit. I didn't have an outfit
00:59
to wear yesterday night and then when I told her about it, she was like, what's up with that Ankara dress here?
01:05
I'm like, Ankara is boring. I don't want that to fashion weekend. I was like, okay, no problem.
01:10
I'll see tomorrow. And then I went on YouTube and checked how to mix together. So that's how this
01:16
came about. I had this, this is a belt, like a waist belt. So I turned it into a necklace and then this
01:24
is a necklace. And then I turned it into a wristband. Yeah. Tell us what exactly you're excited about
01:32
for GT Cool 2015. Okay. So I think today is kind of like special for me because I'm someone special
01:38
and I'm amazed by what I'm seeing here. There are a lot of things that I need to buy. A lot of beautiful
01:46
things. A lot of new products that, you know, like I would really want to purchase and also the masterclass,
01:52
the fashion masterclass. I feel like it's a whole bundle packed with goodness. So I'm excited to be
01:58
here. Is this your first time at GT Cool Fashion Weekend? Yeah, I've never been here. I didn't even
02:02
know about it till this morning. Cool. So how's it been like for you? It's surprising. I didn't expect
02:08
to have all of these vendors. I didn't expect to see all of this incredible fashions. There's very
02:13
incredible designers here. So I'm really impressed. If you could mention two fashion trends, what would that
02:19
be? Scarf. Scarf. Like these over there. I love it. Scarf and then blazers. Blazers. I love like
02:31
blazers with anything. Two skirts, two dresses. My name is Zeme Kiwasage and I am the founder slash
02:38
creative director of Mimi Rocha Official. In terms of the message that the brand is trying to communicate
02:44
through our design. I would say, so we have three product categories. We have Mimi Rocha Essentials,
02:50
which is our resort line, resort wear line. We have Mimi Rocha, the label, which is our occasion wear,
02:55
and then we have our custom. So what I would say is that we are very focused on quality, quality control.
03:03
We're very focused on craftsmanship and we're very focused on design. So design quality,
03:12
it's just giving people something that really makes them stand out, but it's still quite simple
03:16
and comfortable. So with our linen line, that's really what I wanted people to feel. Extremely
03:22
comfortable, but still very, very beautiful and to wear pieces that really just make a statement
03:27
without being too much or too extra. Hi, my name is Kenny Balogun and I'm the founder of Cape
03:34
and Coco. Cape and Coco is a skincare brand and what we are trying to do is really create awareness for sun
03:44
care in Nigeria and Africa at large. Our products are Sunflex, which is a face sunscreen. This is also
03:53
another version of the Sunflex, but it's a body sunscreen and we have our lip balm. My name is Hafsati
04:00
Ibrahim and I am the creative director of Upland Pearls. At Upland Pearls, we make 100% handmade
04:06
beaded bags and my brand is trying to communicate to the whole world that you can be different and
04:13
beautiful. As you can all see, the pieces are very unique and beautiful. We have them available in
04:18
different colors. Hi, my name is Lokpelewa of the Lokpelewa brand. GTCO has really helped me meet my
04:25
customers physically because, I mean, I don't have a store. We're an online store and then every year
04:31
I'm able to see my customers, give them a hug and then smile harder and they're so happy to see me too
04:37
and then we are we always sell out every year. My name is Adebo Ali. I'm the creative director at
04:42
Mofti Studios, a fashion brand reimagining traditional African customership in creating
04:47
segments apparel for men and women. We try to create versatile pieces that can be worn by both men and
04:52
women, basically. My name is Aisha. I'm the creative director behind Spectrum by Aisha and we're here
04:58
at GT Fashion Weekend. My brand is for powerful women, for women that stand out as you can see,
05:06
for bold, confident women, for women that shutter glass ceilings. So if you could describe GTCO Fashion
05:12
Weekend 2025 in three words, what would that be? Needed. In three words? Yeah. I'd use one, just needed,
05:21
because things like this for people that are into fashion and there aren't much,
05:28
like people don't put things like this together a lot. So everybody's always looking forward to GTCO
05:33
and I think that's very nice. Creative, design and aesthetic. Let's talk about day to December.
05:43
So you coming here to GTCO 2025, is that inspiring anything about your wardrobe against
05:51
30 December? Definitely, definitely. So basically this year has been a very busy year for me and I'm not
05:57
able to like fashion wise, I've not been able to like explore a lot, but coming here I'm seeing a whole
06:02
lot of things that definitely is going to speak to my depth of December, you know, um, perspective.
06:08
So basically I'm excited and I'm going to purchase a lot of things here today. Oh yeah, I got a couple
06:13
pieces already, like I'm ready. Yeah, I feel like I, you know, I'm thinking about New Year's. I saw some
06:18
pieces for New Year's. I couldn't get everything that I wanted to bring to Nigeria, so I had to like
06:23
stock up to make sure that I had the right things. Um, I got some church clothes too, so I got some hot
06:30
girl clothes and some church clothes.
06:46
From wrong ways to master classes, the GTCO 2025 Fashion Weekend has finally come to an end.
07:05
Make sure you stay bold and beautiful. I am Teri Tayo, Olu Mofair for Guardian TV. Bye-bye.
07:16
