00:00Indigenous protesters are storming climate talks in the Amazon and what
00:03happens next could determine if small island nations survive. Right now in
00:07Belem, Brazil COP30 is unfolding in the heart of the rainforest. Indigenous
00:13activists just clashed with security guards waving signs saying our land is
00:18not for sale as they demanded access to negotiations. Meanwhile representatives
00:22from small island states are fighting desperately for the 1.5 degree warming
00:26limit. As one delegate put it, this is a lifeline for our survival. Our lives
00:29are not negotiable. But here's the shocking part. For the first time ever the
00:34United States sent no official delegation. The Trump administration closed its
00:37climate office entirely. As UN scientists admit we'll likely overshoot 1.5 degrees
00:41anyway, this summit has become a crossroads. Are we witnessing climate
00:44diplomacy's breakdown or the birth of something new? Because while delegates
00:47debate in conference rooms, the Amazon rainforest surrounds them a living
00:50reminder of what's at stake.
