00:00
I am not a broke, poor salesman.
00:02
I can testify.
00:02
I'm a struggling bartender and actor, but we're doing this.
00:10
Hey, Real Talk. I'm Drew.
00:11
And I'm Anna, and we're from Money, Guns, and a Merry Christmas.
00:18
How have you been, Anna?
00:19
Good. You look different. I like the hair.
00:20
I've been growing it out. I'm in that ugly stage right now.
00:23
No, it looks great. It looks great. I like it.
00:25
You want a drink?
00:26
I do want a drink.
00:27
Of course, dear.
00:27
Cheers.
00:28
What cheers is this?
00:28
Deja vu.
00:29
If you know, you know.
00:31
What'd you get?
00:32
A really girly, very sweet drink.
00:35
You're not drunk yet, are you?
00:36
No.
00:36
Are you?
00:38
No.
00:39
No.
00:39
Okay. I don't believe you.
00:41
Question.
00:42
Yes.
00:42
Did you expect Money, Guns, and a Merry Christmas to be such a hit?
00:45
I don't think I understood the magnitude or the audience that it would cultivate,
00:49
but I do think that when we were on set, there was an unspoken rule that,
00:54
hey, this is special.
00:55
We're a group.
00:56
We're a team.
00:56
We're friends, and we're creating something special, and I think that translates into film.
01:02
So I think people are seeing that.
01:03
They're seeing the chemistry.
01:04
They're seeing that you and I are friends in real life.
01:06
Yeah.
01:07
And even, I mean, I hate to say it, but Marcus and I.
01:09
Thomas.
01:10
Come on, think about it.
01:11
How can somebody this poor and this dumb be Mr. Blaine?
01:15
And I are friends in real life.
01:16
Thomas.
01:16
Mm-hmm.
01:17
What about you?
01:18
I knew we were doing something great with the talent that we had,
01:21
but it wasn't until afterwards and kind of looking back on all the work that we did
01:26
where it was like, whoa, we really did something there.
01:28
When did you first realize the show was a success?
01:31
Probably in February, because it's a Christmas vertical.
01:35
And middle of February, we were streaming number one with, I think, like over 100 million views.
01:41
And the amount of traction that it was slowly starting to get, I didn't know what was going
01:45
to come from it.
01:46
I just knew that everybody thought I was a broke, poor salesman.
01:49
And I was glad that that was over with.
01:52
You mean you're not?
01:53
Do you want to squash the rumors now?
01:55
I am not a broke, poor salesman.
01:57
I can testify.
01:58
I'm a struggling bartender and actor, but we're doing this.
02:00
Okay.
02:01
I would have to go with your answer as well, because it has Christmas in the title.
02:05
So I thought, okay, it might roll over a little bit into January.
02:09
But once it was like Valentine's Day, I was like, okay, we're still focused on Christmas
02:15
and this might actually be a success.
02:18
How has the audience feedback been since the show's release?
02:21
Pretty much all positive.
02:22
My DMs are flooded with just these kind messages from people all over the world,
02:28
which just never ceases to amaze me because it's everybody and it's all the support and
02:33
love.
02:34
And I appreciate it so much, especially considering you put something out there.
02:39
You don't really know what's going to happen.
02:41
It's been cool to see how it corresponded with a lot of these people and how it resonated.
02:46
This one's kind of my favorite question to ask you.
02:48
What would you say our relationship together is like just behind the scenes?
02:52
To sum it up in a nutshell, we tried a five-step, six-step handshake for two weeks and we could
02:59
never get it right.
03:01
And so what I really appreciated about our dynamic, our friendship, was just the low
03:06
stakes and how easy it was to communicate, how easy it was to talk and kind of work through
03:10
different scenes.
03:11
Because a lot of times, you know, we're shooting 15, 20 pages of script.
03:15
But, you know, when we're doing that, we're there for one another.
03:18
I think what really set us apart was the fact that two weeks prior to filming, we were getting
03:22
on FaceTime together and we were getting on calls together.
03:25
And we were not only building the relationship that Damien and Iris had, we were building
03:29
the relationship that Anna and Drew had because we knew that was going to translate on screen.
03:34
So I think we kind of established this like, you know what?
03:37
You're my friend and we're going to go on set and we're going to do well because we know
03:42
each other in real life.
03:44
Did you think it translated well?
03:45
I think it did.
03:46
Did you?
03:46
Did you?
03:46
I think we got married at the end, didn't we?
03:48
Yeah.
03:48
You said yes?
03:49
I said yes.
03:50
Okay.
03:50
Thank goodness.
03:51
Okay.
03:51
Well, this could be awkward.
03:52
If not, I'm, oh no.
03:53
One of my favorite moments, honestly with you, so I can say with you, I was in the very
03:58
last scene and it was a very like physically and mentally demanding scene.
04:02
You were not in the last scene.
04:04
And I had said like two or three days prior, I was like, oh my goodness, I love these coconut
04:09
snacks.
04:10
And Gatorade is just like my favorite drink, especially on set with like long set days and dehydration.
04:14
And I just mentioned that to you and I wasn't meaning anything by it.
04:17
I was just like casually saying it and we wrap the scene and I'm just exhausted.
04:22
And I turn around and this is Drew with my favorite coconut snacks and Gatorade in his
04:27
hand.
04:27
And he's like, here you go.
04:28
Like, congrats.
04:29
You're done filming.
04:30
And there's something about like that moment that I was like, oh my gosh, like we just finished
04:35
this filming.
04:35
And it was just honestly so amazing to see.
04:39
And I'm so grateful about it to this day.
04:41
Yeah.
04:43
Do you have a particular moment that really sticks out in your brain from filming?
04:47
Now that you mentioned something like that, we had that intense fight scene with the crazy
04:53
amount of dialogue going back and forth and trying to get that just right in the vertical
04:59
format.
05:00
And I really just appreciated you being there and having my back and just being supportive
05:07
the whole time through that chaotic mess of a scene, which turned out fantastic.
05:14
You know, when we're filming, we don't always feel that support, but to feel it between the
05:19
crew and especially your castmates just really makes this so much more enjoyable.
05:24
Exactly.
05:24
How did the success of the show positively impact your life, Anna?
05:28
It always brightens my day.
05:30
There's something about just like that continual support from these people that I'm so appreciative
05:34
for.
05:35
Yeah.
05:35
What would you say?
05:36
I just got a DM from a fan, I guess two days ago, and she reached out to me and she
05:42
was like, hey, I saw that your mom passed on your Instagram story and she had just lost
05:48
her mom.
05:49
Yeah.
05:49
And she brought up the fact that Money, Guns, and a Merry Christmas was an outlet for
05:54
her to be able to pass through the two and a half hours of what she had gone through.
05:58
And it was just cool to really have that relatability and to be able to have that reach for people
06:04
that are going through something similar.
06:07
And it was kind of full circle to, you know, shoot a project and work on something where
06:11
we can really have that reach and not only just be actors, but make an impact on people
06:15
when they, you know, really get to know who we are and what we do other than acting.
06:19
So that was pretty cool.
06:20
What would you like to say to the fans of the show, Anna?
06:22
I mean, it's kind of hard because I want to just say thank you.
06:26
That's like sums up everything that I feel in two words, but also just, I appreciate the
06:32
support and I appreciate the constant, like appreciation for the work that you and I and
06:38
the cast and the crew put into this.
06:40
It's very rewarding to see that people are positively taking this well and continuing to view this
06:46
after what, four months, three months, something like that.
06:49
It's still going strong.
06:50
Yeah.
06:50
Just thank you.
06:52
Yeah.
06:52
We can't do this without the support.
06:54
You guys showing up, hitting the likes, jumping into our comments, honestly, everything that
06:59
we do without your guys' support, your energy, your positive feedback.
07:03
You guys make this come to life.
07:05
Yeah.
07:05
So thank you so much for making Money, Guns, and a Merry Christmas a continued success.
07:11
Without you guys, we wouldn't be here.
07:12
And we love you guys, honestly, from the bottom of our hearts.
07:15
Once again, I'm Anna.
07:16
And I'm Drew.
07:17
And thank you so much, Real Talk.
07:19
Stay tuned for more.
