00:00I am not a broke, poor salesman.
00:02I can testify.
00:02I'm a struggling bartender and actor, but we're doing this.
00:10Hey, Real Talk. I'm Drew.
00:11And I'm Anna, and we're from Money, Guns, and a Merry Christmas.
00:18How have you been, Anna?
00:19Good. You look different. I like the hair.
00:20I've been growing it out. I'm in that ugly stage right now.
00:23No, it looks great. It looks great. I like it.
00:25You want a drink?
00:26I do want a drink.
00:27Of course, dear.
00:27Cheers.
00:28What cheers is this?
00:28Deja vu.
00:29If you know, you know.
00:31What'd you get?
00:32A really girly, very sweet drink.
00:35You're not drunk yet, are you?
00:36No.
00:36Are you?
00:38No.
00:39No.
00:39Okay. I don't believe you.
00:41Question.
00:42Yes.
00:42Did you expect Money, Guns, and a Merry Christmas to be such a hit?
00:45I don't think I understood the magnitude or the audience that it would cultivate,
00:49but I do think that when we were on set, there was an unspoken rule that,
00:54hey, this is special.
00:55We're a group.
00:56We're a team.
00:56We're friends, and we're creating something special, and I think that translates into film.
01:02So I think people are seeing that.
01:03They're seeing the chemistry.
01:04They're seeing that you and I are friends in real life.
01:06Yeah.
01:07And even, I mean, I hate to say it, but Marcus and I.
01:09Thomas.
01:10Come on, think about it.
01:11How can somebody this poor and this dumb be Mr. Blaine?
01:15And I are friends in real life.
01:16Thomas.
01:16Mm-hmm.
01:17What about you?
01:18I knew we were doing something great with the talent that we had,
01:21but it wasn't until afterwards and kind of looking back on all the work that we did
01:26where it was like, whoa, we really did something there.
01:28When did you first realize the show was a success?
01:31Probably in February, because it's a Christmas vertical.
01:35And middle of February, we were streaming number one with, I think, like over 100 million views.
01:41And the amount of traction that it was slowly starting to get, I didn't know what was going
01:45to come from it.
01:46I just knew that everybody thought I was a broke, poor salesman.
01:49And I was glad that that was over with.
01:52You mean you're not?
01:53Do you want to squash the rumors now?
01:55I am not a broke, poor salesman.
01:57I can testify.
01:58I'm a struggling bartender and actor, but we're doing this.
02:00Okay.
02:01I would have to go with your answer as well, because it has Christmas in the title.
02:05So I thought, okay, it might roll over a little bit into January.
02:09But once it was like Valentine's Day, I was like, okay, we're still focused on Christmas
02:15and this might actually be a success.
02:18How has the audience feedback been since the show's release?
02:21Pretty much all positive.
02:22My DMs are flooded with just these kind messages from people all over the world,
02:28which just never ceases to amaze me because it's everybody and it's all the support and
02:33love.
02:34And I appreciate it so much, especially considering you put something out there.
02:39You don't really know what's going to happen.
02:41It's been cool to see how it corresponded with a lot of these people and how it resonated.
02:46This one's kind of my favorite question to ask you.
02:48What would you say our relationship together is like just behind the scenes?
02:52To sum it up in a nutshell, we tried a five-step, six-step handshake for two weeks and we could
02:59never get it right.
03:01And so what I really appreciated about our dynamic, our friendship, was just the low
03:06stakes and how easy it was to communicate, how easy it was to talk and kind of work through
03:10different scenes.
03:11Because a lot of times, you know, we're shooting 15, 20 pages of script.
03:15But, you know, when we're doing that, we're there for one another.
03:18I think what really set us apart was the fact that two weeks prior to filming, we were getting
03:22on FaceTime together and we were getting on calls together.
03:25And we were not only building the relationship that Damien and Iris had, we were building
03:29the relationship that Anna and Drew had because we knew that was going to translate on screen.
03:34So I think we kind of established this like, you know what?
03:37You're my friend and we're going to go on set and we're going to do well because we know
03:42each other in real life.
03:44Did you think it translated well?
03:45I think it did.
03:46Did you?
03:46Did you?
03:46I think we got married at the end, didn't we?
03:48Yeah.
03:48You said yes?
03:49I said yes.
03:50Okay.
03:50Thank goodness.
03:51Okay.
03:51Well, this could be awkward.
03:52If not, I'm, oh no.
03:53One of my favorite moments, honestly with you, so I can say with you, I was in the very
03:58last scene and it was a very like physically and mentally demanding scene.
04:02You were not in the last scene.
04:04And I had said like two or three days prior, I was like, oh my goodness, I love these coconut
04:09snacks.
04:10And Gatorade is just like my favorite drink, especially on set with like long set days and dehydration.
04:14And I just mentioned that to you and I wasn't meaning anything by it.
04:17I was just like casually saying it and we wrap the scene and I'm just exhausted.
04:22And I turn around and this is Drew with my favorite coconut snacks and Gatorade in his
04:27hand.
04:27And he's like, here you go.
04:28Like, congrats.
04:29You're done filming.
04:30And there's something about like that moment that I was like, oh my gosh, like we just finished
04:35this filming.
04:35And it was just honestly so amazing to see.
04:39And I'm so grateful about it to this day.
04:41Yeah.
04:43Do you have a particular moment that really sticks out in your brain from filming?
04:47Now that you mentioned something like that, we had that intense fight scene with the crazy
04:53amount of dialogue going back and forth and trying to get that just right in the vertical
04:59format.
05:00And I really just appreciated you being there and having my back and just being supportive
05:07the whole time through that chaotic mess of a scene, which turned out fantastic.
05:14You know, when we're filming, we don't always feel that support, but to feel it between the
05:19crew and especially your castmates just really makes this so much more enjoyable.
05:24Exactly.
05:24How did the success of the show positively impact your life, Anna?
05:28It always brightens my day.
05:30There's something about just like that continual support from these people that I'm so appreciative
05:34for.
05:35Yeah.
05:35What would you say?
05:36I just got a DM from a fan, I guess two days ago, and she reached out to me and she
05:42was like, hey, I saw that your mom passed on your Instagram story and she had just lost
05:48her mom.
05:49Yeah.
05:49And she brought up the fact that Money, Guns, and a Merry Christmas was an outlet for
05:54her to be able to pass through the two and a half hours of what she had gone through.
05:58And it was just cool to really have that relatability and to be able to have that reach for people
06:04that are going through something similar.
06:07And it was kind of full circle to, you know, shoot a project and work on something where
06:11we can really have that reach and not only just be actors, but make an impact on people
06:15when they, you know, really get to know who we are and what we do other than acting.
06:19So that was pretty cool.
06:20What would you like to say to the fans of the show, Anna?
06:22I mean, it's kind of hard because I want to just say thank you.
06:26That's like sums up everything that I feel in two words, but also just, I appreciate the
06:32support and I appreciate the constant, like appreciation for the work that you and I and
06:38the cast and the crew put into this.
06:40It's very rewarding to see that people are positively taking this well and continuing to view this
06:46after what, four months, three months, something like that.
06:49It's still going strong.
06:50Yeah.
06:50Just thank you.
06:52Yeah.
06:52We can't do this without the support.
06:54You guys showing up, hitting the likes, jumping into our comments, honestly, everything that
06:59we do without your guys' support, your energy, your positive feedback.
07:03You guys make this come to life.
07:05Yeah.
07:05So thank you so much for making Money, Guns, and a Merry Christmas a continued success.
07:11Without you guys, we wouldn't be here.
07:12And we love you guys, honestly, from the bottom of our hearts.
07:15Once again, I'm Anna.
07:16And I'm Drew.
07:17And thank you so much, Real Talk.
07:19Stay tuned for more.
