00:00Why do I have a surrogate if we just had a baby?
00:02My entire life I've suffered from infertility and miscarriage.
00:05I went on to have two healthy, beautiful daughters.
00:07And last year we started trying again and it was miscarriage, miscarriage, miscarriage.
00:12It's a hard thing to go through, especially when you have other children.
00:14I don't know why, but God just placed surrogacy on my heart and I just followed.
00:18This lady has just given birth to her new child and now her surrogate is going to do the same.
00:23My baby is five days old and in just two weeks we have to get on a plane,
00:27traveled to a different country to be at the birth of his baby brother.
00:31We learned that surrogacy here in the U.S. took about 12 to 18 months to find a match.
00:36Let's just all agree the health care here is not the best.
00:39We had friends who had just had a baby via surrogacy in Colombia, so we started exploring it.
00:44One thing led to another. We met our surrogate. We were in Colombia.
00:48I went through an egg retrieval. They retrieved six eggs, five fertilized,
00:52five became embryos and three were healthy.
00:54It all sounded too good to be true and it was about to come crumbling down.
00:58This all unraveled last November. So we were in Colombia in November,
01:03met our surrogate and we scheduled a transfer for December.
01:06I will never forget learning that the transfer failed. I was so thrown off.
01:09I didn't understand. God led me here. What the heck happened?
01:12I just said, you know what? I'm going to go for it one last time and I'm going to try to get pregnant.
01:15So mid-January, I found out I was pregnant, but here's the cooker.
01:18We had the second transfer already scheduled to take place the end of January to the surrogate.
01:25For most, this was a tough decision, but they knew exactly what to do.
01:28Honestly, it wasn't that hard of a decision. I just thought, you know what? We're going to go for it.
01:33Who knows if I'll stay pregnant? Who knows if her transfer will work?
01:35Like, I just never thought it would all work out, but it did. And our entire pregnancy,
01:41we were about, our due dates changed, but we were about three to four weeks apart.
01:45Well, then my baby decided he was going to come out a week and a half late.
01:49So we've got pretty much two weeks to get to Colombia.
01:51And this wasn't the only problem they had.
01:53It was a miracle that we were able to get his birth certificate in just two days.
01:58And we have a passport appointment for him on Wednesday.
02:00Lord willing, we will be heading to Colombia on October 17th.
02:04My mom is meeting us there because she's going to take care of baby Joseph
02:07while the other baby is born. Are we going to raise them as twins?
02:11I don't know. I guess if we're in a rush and someone says, are they twins? I might say, yeah.
02:15But if we're not, and I want to sit there and share the goodness and the testimony of what God's done in our life,
02:19that would always be my preference. They will always know the story.
02:22It's just a constant reminder of how God has blessed us.
02:24The way he's working this all out is crazy insane.
02:28He's definitely, definitely showing off.
02:30The second baby was almost here, but the problems hadn't ended.
02:33Hello from Colombia.
02:35Our son is here. He's happy. He's healthy.
02:38And he's just three weeks younger than his big brother.
02:41Later ultrasounds in the surrogate's pregnancy were showing that he had potential heart issues.
02:46So right when he was born, he didn't have skin to skin.
02:49He didn't get to latch.
02:51But he had to go to the NICU for observation for 12 hours.
02:54But what do you know? Praise God, a miracle.
02:57There is no sign.
02:58There is no reason for them to think he has any sort of heart issue.
03:01He was released.
03:02We did skin to skin immediately.
03:04And he latched.
03:05That was just one reason for her.
03:06That was the child's heart issue.
03:09He couldn't touch the other.
03:11I think he was so angry.
03:13He was born, he wasn't my son's son.
03:15God said my son was my son's son.
03:17Let's get back into the U.S.
03:19So I've told him that the hospital had a better visit
03:21and the hospital could be peace so many years ago.
03:23And in life is where he was supposed to like she...
03:24I'll come back to the JCOM headset.
03:26This was a youngest.
03:27No one ever year,부istol...
03:29But he had to dig,
03:30That you do not know what he wants to do?
03:31But there was a gift that I really haven't helped him.
