00:00I'm Gray Benko, an interior designer in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
00:06I bring pattern, color, and creativity into my clients' homes, alongside my partner in crime, Chelsea.
00:13Whoa!
00:14An interior designer extraordinaire who also keeps me in check.
00:17Nope, no, let's drag it.
00:19And my general contractor, Grumpy, who can build anything that we dream of.
00:22You don't need me?
00:23I don't need you.
00:24I love that.
00:25And also happens to be my dad.
00:26Oh my gosh!
00:27There's color everywhere!
00:30Despite my name, my world is a rainbow.
00:35This is Anna and Jake Victorsen.
00:37Mm-hmm.
00:38They bought their house when they first got married.
00:40Now they have a toddler, so they're sort of busting at the scenes.
00:45We're going to their front door.
00:47I feel like this could potentially be a really fun one.
00:51Mm-hmm.
00:52They have a three-bed, two-bath, 1960s home
00:54that was actually remodeled before they bought it a few years ago.
00:57Funny how a house shrinks when a child comes along.
01:03Hi!
01:04Good to see y'all.
01:05Good to see you.
01:06Now we're here to give them a remodel that actually works for their growing family.
01:11Thanks for having us.
01:12Yes, we're so excited.
01:13They're going to be handing over their keys and letting us just be in there to work our magic alone,
01:20which is really adventurous.
01:22And I feel like we're going to really be able to do our thing.
01:25No holds barred.
01:26Yes, the house is so cute.
01:28Oh, thank you.
01:29I love your baby blue front door.
01:31Oh, thank you.
01:32That's about the only color that's currently in the whole house.
01:35Oh, wow.
01:36So, you know.
01:37Well, we can work on that.
01:38I came prepared.
01:39I'm so excited.
01:40We love color.
01:41There just isn't much here yet.
01:42Tell us a little bit about your house in general.
01:45It was built in 1960.
01:4761?
01:4861.
01:49Yep.
01:50It was redone prior to us buying it.
01:52They did a great job, but it doesn't feel super functional for us.
01:56We clearly have a child.
01:59So we're currently standing in the playroom.
02:01We're currently standing in the living room.
02:03Technically.
02:04Or the whole house is the playroom.
02:05The whole house is kind of the playroom at this point.
02:07And we have virtually no storage.
02:09Yeah.
02:10So we would love to figure out ways to make it a lot more functional and grow with us.
02:14I like if things are, like, a little bit funky.
02:16Okay.
02:17But still definitely want it to feel, like, refined and mature.
02:21Okay.
02:22Where do you want to start?
02:23Let's get into this.
02:25Yeah.
02:26This room, I think we would just love it to feel like an actual living space
02:30and not a playroom.
02:32What sort of colors do you guys lean to?
02:35I feel like blues, greens.
02:37Blues, greens.
02:38But I think for walls, I like white as long as it feels not just like a blank canvas.
02:43Yes.
02:44This is going to be one of those rooms where just a little bit can go a long way.
02:47Sure.
02:48And keeping your walls neutral means that all of your furniture is still going to work.
02:53So we get to really focus on the fun stuff.
02:55Yeah.
02:56That sounds great.
02:57I think we've got this space sorted out.
02:59So what's next on the wish list?
03:01So one of the things we're really excited about is the potential for an addition of a primary suite.
03:06So we're thinking we might have opportunity with our current carport area.
03:11Well, let's go take a look.
03:12Awesome. Let's go.
03:13All right.
03:14This is what I'm most excited about.
03:18All right.
03:19Okay.
03:20Well, for primary bedroom and bath, the width is fine.
03:24Yeah.
03:25But there's not enough depth.
03:27But I think if we added 10 feet to this space, that would be enough.
03:31That's great.
03:32And that sounds great.
03:33Open to that.
03:34Yeah.
03:35What do you want your bedroom to feel like?
03:37I think we just do a bit.
03:38I think we make it fun.
03:39We make it real fun?
03:40Yeah.
03:41I'm...
03:42If Jake's open to it.
03:43I'm open to it, yeah.
03:44Is this an opportunity for hot pink?
03:46Let's...
03:47I don't feel like there are hot pink people.
03:49It's a little too much.
03:50We can test case it.
03:51Yeah, sure.
03:52What if we did some really fun contrasting stripes on your walls?
03:57I love that idea.
03:58I love stripes.
03:59I would put stripes, like, everywhere if I could.
04:01I'm good with it.
04:02I say we go for it.
04:03You're good with it?
04:04He's good with it.
04:06I feel like you've grown so much over the years.
04:09I have.
04:10What do you want in the bathroom?
04:11A double vanity.
04:12We definitely need two vanities.
04:13Right now, our bathroom is tiny.
04:16We arm wrestle to see who brushes their teeth first.
04:18Kind of.
04:19Okay, so we're gonna fit a primary bathroom, a primary bedroom, and a big walk-in closet.
04:26Well, a walk-in closet.
04:27I don't know how big it'll be.
04:28Bigger than what we have now.
04:29That's a way.
04:30Okay.
04:31Yeah.
04:32Let's go and start talking about the next space.
04:33Awesome.
04:34So, one of the areas that we really struggle is we don't have a dedicated playroom.
04:38Yeah.
04:39And when we go inside, you'll actually see it's just our catch-all area.
04:42So, we'd love to show you kind of what that space looks like.
04:45Sure.
04:49This room could be a great place for all of the toys that we see everywhere else.
04:53Yeah.
04:54This is currently a TV room.
04:56It's a catch-all where we put everything.
04:58So, we're excited to figure out the playroom.
05:01I think we can accommodate all of that.
05:04When we put the primary suite out this way, you no longer have the access to the carport
05:10to unload groceries and whatnot.
05:11Right.
05:12This would be a little connecting way here.
05:14A reasonably sized playroom there.
05:16Yeah.
05:17Doing a little walk that comes up outside of the bedroom and come in the house here.
05:22I love it.
05:23So, let's talk about how you want the space to feel.
05:25I'm kind of okay with as long as it feels cohesive with the other parts of the house.
05:29Just do what you want.
05:31Okay.
05:32I love that.
05:33But where to next?
05:34Should we go to the kitchen?
05:36Okay.
05:37So, now the kitchen when we do this bedroom.
05:40We're going to lose some light here.
05:42Yeah.
05:43The window over the kitchen sink, gone.
05:45The window in the dining area, also gone.
05:48If we change these windows out here and make them a pair of French doors, we might gain
05:55some more light.
05:56Were you all good with that idea?
05:57Yeah.
05:58That sounds great.
05:59Sounds good.
06:00We'll take light where we can get it.
06:01It occurred to me while we're standing here.
06:03When this window comes out, Gray's going to have to work something out with that.
06:06Since I imagine that trying to match that tile is going to be pretty difficult, how would
06:11you feel about putting wallpaper in the kitchen?
06:14Oh.
06:15That's a fun idea.
06:16I didn't think about that, but not against that.
06:21Will adding any other color on the walls make it feel dark?
06:24No.
06:25I don't think so.
06:26I think it would be fine.
06:28I'm open to it, for sure.
06:29So, yes to the wallpaper, keep the cabinetry countertops.
06:34Are we going to do something in the breakfast room here?
06:37I think we'd love to make it cohesive.
06:43What needs do you have in here that aren't currently being met?
06:46We would love to be able to set a few more people around our table.
06:49Okay.
06:50So, we could do a banquette on this wall, and then you could get a larger table.
06:56I love that.
06:57I think this is going to be a good one.
06:58I'm excited.
06:59Are you excited, Grumpy?
07:00Oh, I'm always excited.
07:01You're looking.
07:02Can't you tell?
07:03So, timeline on this one is going to be about five months, which might seem like a long
07:08time, but not when you're having to build an entirely new structure in what's currently
07:13a carport.
07:14They're going to be staying with Jake's family.
07:16That can be tough for everybody after that long.
07:19How well I know.
07:22So, you're comfortable with us getting on with this?
07:25Yeah.
07:26Yep.
07:27Permission granted.
07:28Okay.
07:29You know you won't be able to come back in until it's done.
07:32We won't peak.
07:33We're underway with Victorson.
07:44By the first part of next week, we can frame up the house and get rolling.
07:54It's got all the steps of a bigger project, but it's not a huge project.
07:59We're in good hands.
08:02Six weeks from now, we should have everything under roof.
08:12Well, it's not a little progress.
08:28Howdy, boys.
08:29What have you guys been doing?
08:31How are you?
08:32It's good to see you.
08:33What have you been doing?
08:34You've been taking...
08:35Hard at work.
08:36Too many naps, it looks like.
08:37No, no, no.
08:38I thought you'd have your place finished by then.
08:39We don't nap.
08:40Actually, it's looking pretty good.
08:41All the walls are in.
08:42All the walls are in.
08:43Now we're just doing the little stuff for Dry Waller so he can start hanging.
08:46And I'm going to get back to it so we can wrap up for the weekend.
08:49Okay, bud.
08:50Hey, it's good to see you.
08:51Wait, wait, wait.
08:52Are you leaving because of me?
08:54Hello, everybody.
08:55How are you, Chelsea?
08:56I know you were coming out of left with you.
08:59Chelsea is Grace's business partner and a very talented interior designer.
09:04Working with Chelsea?
09:06Total chaos.
09:08I thought there for a second you were bringing us little treats to eat.
09:12You're the second person that told me they look like candies.
09:15You have to take your dentures out to eat them.
09:17And what do you think working with you is like?
09:19Instructive.
09:20This big one is maybe the floor.
09:23Nothing's approved yet.
09:25But I think, chaotic as you are...
09:29I prefer creative.
09:30How fun is that?
09:31Is it going to come scuffed like that?
09:33Yeah, my daughter used this to build her fort.
09:37You're able to discern what goes on in Gray's chaotic head.
09:42And somehow you two make the magic together.
09:47I just really wanted to come out here and see if this tile was the right color in the right light.
09:52You know how light changes everything.
09:54Yeah.
09:55Here, you hold them on the shower walls.
09:56So we'll create a really cool pattern on the walls with these colors, not these tile sizes.
10:03Mmm, gotcha.
10:04I'm really getting excited.
10:05Yeah.
10:06It's coming together so quick.
10:07It is.
10:08Yeah.
10:09It is.
10:10But the tile's not going to get put in unless we get back to work.
10:11We'll let you get back at it.
10:12Yeah.
10:13Hey, girl.
10:15I feel like I'm more excited about this house than I've been in a very long time.
10:26Me too.
10:27It's going to be great.
10:28Today is the Victorson design session day.
10:30These are the days that we get to feel the space and feel the light and make sure these crazy things that we come up with in our head are going to work in reality.
10:41Let's just start in the dining room because I feel like that'll be the rosetta stone as my dad likes to put it.
10:47I want to do wallpaper in the kitchen, which is going to bleed into the breakfast room, and that's going to sort of be the thing where we are pulling most of the colors in the house from.
11:01I don't know.
11:02Which one are you feeling?
11:03I feel like they have.
11:04Ooh, that's busy.
11:05Yeah, this one's very busy.
11:07I think what I like about this one is because we're not changing the color of the cabinets in the kitchen and they're already white.
11:14100% agree.
11:15I feel like because this one has so much white.
11:17It's better.
11:18I'm leaning towards that.
11:19For the banquette cushion, this is an option.
11:23Pretty.
11:24But the whites and the creams aren't jiving.
11:26And then we've got this guy, which already has blue.
11:30It literally was made for it.
11:32I really like that.
11:33Okay, so I already kind of thought ahead about what trim color we should use.
11:37See if you have green blue in there.
11:38I think that the number one thing that we have to keep in mind is that Anna wants to make sure that whatever we pick, it's going to feel light and bright.
11:47Yeah.
11:48These are all very fun colors that really work well together.
11:52And it can take a very simple design and just...
11:56Exactly.
11:57What do you think?
11:58I think we couldn't have done better if we tried.
12:01And we did.
12:02We did try.
12:03We did in fact try.
12:04I love it.
12:05There's going to be so much color.
12:07It would feel good to tone it down a little bit with a natural fiber on the windows.
12:14I love that idea, but just to get my head around it.
12:17We're doing a wall to wall.
12:20Bankette seat.
12:21Mm-hmm.
12:22A nice beautiful rug.
12:23Red cushion.
12:25Bamboo blinds.
12:27White oak table.
12:28Colorful chairs.
12:30Tonal chandelier.
12:31Tonal chandelier.
12:32You have my stamp of approval.
12:34That's all I'm ever looking for.
12:36Okay, good.
12:37Let's poke our heads in the living room real quick.
12:39Okay.
12:40It seems to me we just carry the same green blue trim into this room.
12:45Makes sense.
12:46And then we do the walls in a white that feels the same as this white.
12:50So it sort of feels like the same space without being the same space.
12:53Yeah.
12:54It's a simple refresh, but I think it'll make a big impact.
12:57Which is exactly what they want to hear.
12:58Yeah.
12:59A little pattern and a little color goes a long way.
13:02Mm-hmm.
13:03Now there's something in the kitchen that I feel like I need your expertise on.
13:07Ooh.
13:08Okay.
13:09Okay.
13:10What are we talking about?
13:11Well, they really want the kitchen to feel cohesive with the dining room and the living
13:15room, which we can totally do.
13:16Clearly.
13:17The bigger issue is that this used to be an exterior wall.
13:23And now we got this big hole in the backsplash where the window used to be.
13:29Yes.
13:30And I'm struggling a little bit.
13:32Okay.
13:33Well, I do think this has to come down because we will never match this.
13:38This is really old tile.
13:39But I also feel like there needs to be a focal point here so you're not just looking at a
13:44wall.
13:45I knew you would say that.
13:46And so actually yesterday I snuck over because I heard sheetrock was up and I think I have
13:52an idea.
13:53I see that.
13:54I see that.
13:55We come in and we do a scalloped backsplash.
14:01Some beautiful shelves up here.
14:05Ditch the light and then style them beautifully.
14:08Yeah, I think this is a great solution.
14:10And then we put the wallpaper over here.
14:13Anna wants wallpaper, but at the same time she's really concerned about it feeling dark.
14:18I think what we can really do is own that white cabinetry, which is not our normal, and
14:25use it to our advantage.
14:26I think it will keep things bright and airy too.
14:28We're going to have this amazing wallpaper and we'll take this really nice trim color
14:33through to the new doors.
14:35I would like to replace these lights maybe with a rattan light.
14:40It's going to feel like a whole new house.
14:42Well, I feel good.
14:43Let's head to the addition.
14:44All right.
14:45Next.
14:46I'm going to be honest with you.
14:47Why stop it?
14:48Go for it.
14:49So we haven't seen this addition since drywall was up.
14:54I worry it's going to feel too small for the design that I have in my brain.
14:59Wow.
15:04I'm really excited about this project.
15:06I feel like we just started and now the addition is fully dried in.
15:11We've got walls and ceilings and we can get in there and do our thing now.
15:16This is the good stuff for me.
15:18It's when a client really goes, do your worst.
15:21Go for it.
15:22Go for it.
15:23Wow.
15:25Thank goodness.
15:26It's not too small.
15:28No, it feels great in here.
15:30The ideas that are in my brain are going to work.
15:33So let me tell you what I'm thinking.
15:35We're going to do really bold blue and green stripes.
15:39Okay.
15:40We're going to take the green blue we're doing in the kitchen and pull it through as one of the stripes.
15:44But now I just want to test the green.
15:47All right.
15:48Well, at least we didn't get a small paint brush that would work easily.
15:52Thank goodness for that.
15:54Okay.
15:55This one's kind of nice.
15:57Pretty.
15:58Switch.
15:59Boop.
16:00This is more of like a...
16:01Earthy tone.
16:02Coastal vibe I feel like too.
16:03That's fun.
16:04Let's stand back.
16:05What they said that they wanted from the very beginning was fun.
16:06Right.
16:07And for me, I love all of them.
16:08But for me, it's the one all the way on the right.
16:09It's got to be this.
16:10Okay.
16:11Let's talk fabrics.
16:12Okay.
16:13We need to soften this room for curtains in here.
16:15This feels very matchy matchy.
16:16All right.
16:17Yeah.
16:18I feel like we need to bring in some darker tones.
16:19Okay.
16:20Okay.
16:21Okay.
16:22Okay.
16:23I can do this.
16:24I can do this.
16:25It's the basket of fun.
16:26I love this pattern.
16:27I love this pattern.
16:28I love that too because let's talk headboard because if we have a beautiful earthy tone here,
16:47then maybe a deep earthy velvet.
16:50Yeah.
16:51For the headboard.
16:52I feel like maybe something in this family would pair really well.
16:56Yeah.
16:57So you've got the beautiful scallops that are going to be on the fabric.
17:00Then you've got this beautiful bed that's soft and earthy.
17:03And it'll also do a scallop on the headboard.
17:06It'll tie in from the kitchen where we did the scallop on the bamboo blinds.
17:10Some sort of like vintage rug that pulls in some deeper burgundy tones.
17:15And the beautiful light fixture as always.
17:17Yeah.
17:18So let's go to the bathroom.
17:19I think we should take the green that's in this room and pull it in there and see how
17:25we like paint.
17:26I think I'm most excited about this bathroom.
17:29Yeah, it's going to be fun.
17:30They desperately needed more space.
17:32So we've got a ton of storage in that closet, a really big shower, and a double vanity so
17:38they don't have to fight over who brushes first.
17:40I don't think we should paint a bright color.
17:43I think the tile in this room and the tones should be the star piece.
17:48So how do you feel about just doing like trim?
17:51I think that's what I would prefer.
17:52Okay.
17:53Mm-hmm.
17:54Yeah.
17:55I think we go the green.
17:56It'll pull it well off of the rest of the house.
17:57We've done a lot of this in the kitchen already as well.
17:58Yeah.
17:59So I think we're going to go this direction for the shower tiles on the trim.
18:12Same green.
18:13And I like the white oak for the cabinetry.
18:15A very neutral floor.
18:17A Roman shade, but in bamboo.
18:19I think that's good.
18:21I'm super excited.
18:22We're excited.
18:23How many times a day do you think we say excited?
18:26Over a hundred.
18:29We spend most of our days feeling either anxious, frustrated, or excited.
18:35The sweet, the place room.
18:37Yes.
18:38Be honest, we get to do some really fun stuff.
18:42Yeah, that's exciting.
18:43And it's quite exciting.
18:44The Victorsons were feeling like their house was overrun with toys.
18:48So this room is where all that kid clutter can be contained.
18:51One thought that I had is having this be a red and pink room.
18:57Red and pink.
18:58Yeah, I love red and pink together.
18:59Okay.
19:00I know they have a little girl.
19:01Yeah.
19:02But I don't know if this is their last little baby.
19:05And what if there's a boy?
19:07What are you afraid of?
19:08Well, A, I think it's okay because boys love pink too.
19:12I mean, it's a new generation.
19:14But also, I feel like pink can be almost a neutral.
19:19We sprinkled a little paint on the ground.
19:21That's why painters put plastic.
19:23Ooh.
19:24Isn't that pretty?
19:25Oh, I love that.
19:27Look how bad it would look if I did it.
19:30We get the gist.
19:31It's really beautiful though.
19:32I love that.
19:34We'll do the pink on top.
19:36Put some green on the ground so it doesn't feel so, so feminine.
19:40Bring some trim around the entire room.
19:42And then the door behind you is going to be gone so we can have art pieces on this side.
19:46I love this.
19:47It's going to be truly a fun room.
19:49I like that they're not afraid to take chances.
19:51It's going to be honestly a page turner.
19:54This is going to be a really fun house.
19:57I'm excited about this one.
19:58Yeah.
19:59I'm so excited.
20:00I feel like...
20:01Are you excited, Chelsea?
20:04I'm excited.
20:05Sometimes you just get excited and say the same word over and over again.
20:09You ready?
20:10Yes, I am ready.
20:11It's very hot.
20:12It is hot.
20:13You think there's enough cars here?
20:20We got half the world here working.
20:21We're going to go through and find out what you don't have here for them yet.
20:25I love that game.
20:26The house is back here.
20:27You got days, not weeks.
20:28A lot's going on today.
20:30The siding's going up, getting close to being finished.
20:33The painters are sneaking up on being finished with their work.
20:37The tile guy's in there working.
20:39They've still got a few days in there, but they're making great strides.
20:44Go ahead.
20:45Might be a snake up there.
20:46Ugh.
20:47So, girls, today is my last day here.
20:50I've been living under the 100-degree heat dome for the last two weeks.
20:54I'm going to the Adirondacks.
20:56What are we going to do?
20:58Well, I don't know.
20:59How will we handle it?
21:00Don't leave us.
21:01Don't go.
21:06Oh, no!
21:07Where are the stairs?
21:09I guess we get in through this ladder.
21:11Here, Dad.
21:12What the Victorsons wanted in their bedroom was something really fun and really different,
21:17and they wanted us to go all out.
21:19What is this?
21:20It's green.
21:21It's a matcha, Dad.
21:22Well, yeah.
21:23It looks so good!
21:25You know there's going to be green and blue stripes painted on this wall?
21:29It's going to make me feel like I'm living in a barcode.
21:32You scan the room, you don't know what you're going to get.
21:36I don't think it's going to read barcode.
21:38I think it's going to be fun.
21:39This isn't black and white.
21:40It's going to look great.
21:41It will.
21:42Even with the red trim.
21:45It's not the red trim I'm worried about.
21:47It's the drapery.
21:48How are those drapes going to look with the red?
21:51Because the red is going to be really fun.
21:53Let's be honest.
21:54The drapes are going to cover the majority of the trim around the windows.
21:57Like I don't want to cover up an inch of the window.
22:00Should I just step out while you'll have this conversation?
22:02Are you bored?
22:03Well, I mean, my neck's getting worn out looking back and forth.
22:08I wonder if we should order some shears and then maybe we could turn that fabric into like
22:13some pillows or something on the bed.
22:16Shears could be the right answer.
22:18You know, like you're looking in the room and you're seeing.
22:21Those pretty squares.
22:22Two red rectangles, technically.
22:25Yeah.
22:26And I don't really want to interrupt them.
22:27They're not squares.
22:28You know, I offer.
22:29Rectangles are squares.
22:30Squares are rectangles.
22:32One of the things that people love about your style is that you have the ability to mix in colors.
22:37And I think that the fact that these are not going to be the dominant color in the room.
22:41What is that?
22:42What's that whole theory like 30, 60, 10?
22:45So this is just going to be our 10.
22:48You're getting real designs for me.
22:50I'm not.
22:51But like, it's an important thing to think about that.
22:54It's okay to add in that 10% portion because it's what brings rooms alive.
22:59So 60% of the room is one color.
23:0330% is the accent color.
23:06And 10% is your pop.
23:08I think it's going to work beautifully.
23:10Yeah.
23:11I feel like a lot of times these big choices on paper feel like a really fun, exciting idea.
23:19And then I see them half finished.
23:22I start panicking a little bit.
23:25Nearly every time.
23:26Almost every time.
23:27Yes.
23:28I want to show you all the tile.
23:30It's awesome.
23:31Is it in there already?
23:32Yes.
23:33Let's see.
23:34Wow.
23:35Oh, that's cool.
23:38It's the coolest shower we've ever done.
23:41My Lord.
23:42It's the nation.
23:43Yes.
23:44We put a little foot niche so she can shave her legs.
23:48It's my invention.
23:49That was nice.
23:50The foot thing?
23:51Oh, yes.
23:52It's my invention.
23:53Someone said to me, I'm on a shelf so I can shave my legs.
23:56And I said, why don't we put a niche in the wall where you can put your foot in there?
24:01And they said, okay, that's a good idea.
24:02Let's do that.
24:03Genius.
24:04Was I the first one to do it in life?
24:05Probably.
24:06In the entire world?
24:07I doubt it.
24:08But probably.
24:09I've got your back on this one.
24:10I invented it back before there was even dial-ups in there.
24:13The Egyptians made pyramids.
24:15And Joe made foot niches.
24:17I handled the Western Hemisphere, yeah.
24:20We're getting sidetracked.
24:21Let's look at the rest of the house.
24:23Let's go look at the rest of the house.
24:24Okay.
24:25Well, they've got all their prep done.
24:28So the window's gone, that's out, and they did a nice job of closing it in.
24:32The door's behind you.
24:33Yes.
24:34All that tile's gone.
24:35And that light, I feel like we need to talk about.
24:39This light is huge.
24:40I don't know.
24:41It could be like a big, bold statement, or it could be, I feel like we need to hold it
24:45up over there.
24:46Okay.
24:47So this light that is meant to go in the breakfast nook is...
24:51It's too big.
24:52That's a lovely hat.
24:53Yeah.
24:54How sweet.
24:55I think it's going to eat up half the room, you know?
24:59I want to look at this myself.
25:01I'll be in a white for you.
25:03I don't know.
25:04I mean, it might be okay.
25:05It's like hanging a Mack truck in the view.
25:09Lift that up about an inch for me.
25:12What?
25:13You're like two inches.
25:16I'm not.
25:17No.
25:18Why not?
25:19You're just being mean.
25:20All right.
25:21So crisis averted.
25:22Too big.
25:23Way too big.
25:24Too big.
25:25Whew.
25:26Okay.
25:27Ow!
25:28It's so big.
25:29I just ran under the wall.
25:30We're going to be moving them back in before we know it.
25:33We're nine days out, right?
25:34I'll be away for five of them, so it's only four days left for me.
25:39Do you feel like we're going to have all this done in time to get in here and do our
25:46thing next week?
25:47This is normal.
25:48All right.
25:49We stick to the plan.
25:50We're going to be okay.
25:51Let's get out of there here so we can stick to the plan.
25:54Yeah.
25:55Let's let these guys make some dust.
25:56Okay.
25:57Okay.
25:58Good.
25:59There is like so many people here.
26:09Holy moly.
26:10There is literally a million big old vans in this yard.
26:16Wallpaper is going up at Victorston, and it is going to be such a huge transformation.
26:23And this is like the first big change that we've gotten to see in this house outside
26:26of the actual kitchen.
26:28Well, outside of a whole other section.
26:30Yeah.
26:31Ooh.
26:32Hey, girls.
26:33Hi, guys.
26:34Hi.
26:35Oh, that looks so good.
26:37We just got started.
26:38What do you think?
26:40Love it.
26:41Love it.
26:42It's really awesome to finally be in here and start seeing like some pattern and color.
26:47It's been a little bit boring with white walls for a while.
26:50Not anymore.
26:51She's going up.
26:52It's pretty simple paper to hang.
26:54It'll go up beautifully.
26:55It's durable.
26:56So it's good for attention.
26:57A child can crayon on it and we'll get it right off.
26:59Good choice, ladies.
27:00It's a little bit coastal for us, but I really, I really love it.
27:04Yeah.
27:05We're going to have to funk it up with some bright colors.
27:07Once we get that fun fabric in here.
27:08Actually, come here real quick.
27:10This is why I wore this dress today, just so you know.
27:13This is exactly the colors of the banquette.
27:15Yeah.
27:16Yeah.
27:17So it's red and pink.
27:19It is exciting because the wallpaper is going in, but there is a lot to figure out.
27:24Some of the floors are getting refinished.
27:26They're installing the new banquette.
27:28Does it fit?
27:29It does.
27:30Okay.
27:31It is a bit of a hot mess in here, but organized chaos.
27:36We're getting down to the wire in this house.
27:39My dad's out of town.
27:40That doesn't help.
27:42Hey, Kelvin.
27:43Hello.
27:44Good morning.
27:45How are you?
27:46How are you doing?
27:47I'm well.
27:48Kelvin was just calling to confirm the exact measurements for the banquette cushion
27:54because there's going to be no time for any fixing or correcting.
27:58So the actual measurement that we need, 131 width, 22 inch depth, 3 inch thickness.
28:07Right.
28:08Okay.
28:09Will we be able to pick it up Monday morning?
28:12Yes, ma'am.
28:13Yes, ma'am.
28:14Kelvin, we love you.
28:15Thank you so much.
28:16Miracle worker.
28:17Okay.
28:18Have a blessed weekend.
28:19You too.
28:20We'll see you Monday.
28:21We have to go measure those windows.
28:22We got to get the windows.
28:23And we'll see y'all in a bit.
28:24All right.
28:25All right, let's go.
28:26Oh.
28:27This feels like they don't want us to come in.
28:31It's like a hard no.
28:32Oh.
28:33Oh.
28:34Bless me.
28:35All right.
28:36Well.
28:37That's a hard no.
28:38You see it from outside.
28:39Yeah.
28:40Every room feels taped off.
28:41It's frustrating.
28:42I know.
28:43But I know that we've given them a very hard job.
28:44And if we want it to be perfect, we will leave them alone.
28:46We just have to give them the time to do it.
28:48So 45 feels safe.
28:5045 does feel safe.
28:51Yeah.
28:52We will be patiently waiting for each room to open up.
28:55And as soon as it does, we're going to be in there like white on rice.
29:00And I think it's going to get done.
29:02Let's get in some AC.
29:04Yeah.
29:05Seriously.
29:06The two of us, we can do anything.
29:07We set our minds to.
29:08And if we can't, I'm calling Grumpy and blaming him.
29:11We're just folding in half.
29:12Yeah.
29:13I'm going to roll in.
29:14Let me roll in here.
29:15There's still so much that has to be done.
29:16But this is a huge thing that we can check off of our list.
29:17So basically, get out of his way.
29:18You know, he needed me.
29:19And he told me he needed me.
29:20Don't bring that back.
29:21Calvin is a miracle worker.
29:22I'm helping.
29:23He's got the banquette cushion.
29:24Measurements on Friday, Thursday, Monday morning.
29:25And he's got the banquette cushion.
29:26He's got the banquette cushion measurements on Friday, Thursday, Monday morning.
29:27And he's got it ready.
29:28Done-zo.
29:29Bye, Calvin.
29:30Bye-bye.
29:32Oh!
29:33It's not raining that hard, Calvin.
29:34I'm sugar.
29:35Oh!
29:36It's not raining that hard, Calvin.
29:37I'm sugar.
29:38Oh!
29:39Oh!
29:40Oh!
29:41Oh!
29:42Oh!
29:43Oh!
29:44Oh!
29:45Oh!
29:46Oh!
29:47Oh!
29:48Oh!
29:50Oh!
29:51Oh!
29:52Oh!
29:53Oh!
29:54Oh!
29:55Oh!
29:56Oh!
29:57Oh!
29:58I'm out!
29:59I'm really excited about today.
30:00We get to go shopping.
30:01I love shopping.
30:02Because the Victorson family is so vibrant, we need to find something that's not our typical
30:08antique store find.
30:10That's so cute.
30:11Those are adorable.
30:12I think we need all of this.
30:17We want things that will activate their imaginations.
30:20Look at the pink with the red lamp.
30:23It's like the exact colors of the room.
30:25Yep.
30:26Perfect.
30:27Oh!
30:28Maybe we should get the mirror and I think the lion too.
30:29The lion.
30:30Yeah.
30:31I think we need something substantial to put on either side of the fireplace.
30:34I just don't know the width of it.
30:36I'm going to try to call my dad on vacation.
30:39He's going to love this.
30:40Ooh.
30:41What?
30:42You on a boat?
30:43Hi.
30:44Hello.
30:45I'm on a boat.
30:46I'm on a boat.
30:47And I'm on vacation.
30:48I just wanted to say I missed y'all's faces and the measurements for a room.
30:56I need to know the width of the space on either side of the fireplace in the Victorson playroom.
31:03You want to know the measurements on either side of the fireplace?
31:06I did.
31:07You're the same.
31:08Are you sure?
31:09Thanks, Dad.
31:10Are you sure?
31:11Yeah, it's right smack dab in the middle.
31:15Well, I would say this, what you might do, if you can look up the plan that I've sent you probably three times.
31:23If you look up and see what the width of the room is, take four feet off of it and you ought to be pretty close.
31:29All right.
31:30We got to go now.
31:32We have some relaxing we have to do.
31:34The worst.
31:35Love you.
31:37Grumpy being out of town is a mild inconvenience.
31:41Mild.
31:42But we found so many great things here.
31:46We really did.
31:47Perfect.
31:48And now we have one day to get this house.
31:54Quick counting.
31:55I don't have to count much.
31:56It's just one.
31:57Not.
31:59And we've got everything we need.
32:01Amazing.
32:02I know.
32:09This might be the very first time we don't get finished.
32:13We've asked a lot of the painters, like, perfect vertical stripes.
32:18Let's do a half dip in this room.
32:20And it takes time to do it correctly.
32:22Yes.
32:23And it's a cluster a little bit.
32:25It feels messy.
32:26We don't have a ruck.
32:29I'm so strong.
32:30The grumpy that gets it done is not here.
32:34No.
32:35To push people.
32:36And I need a delegator.
32:37He's a great delegator.
32:38But you're also a great delegator.
32:40This thing's like a hundred pounds.
32:43Oh, that's made of marble.
32:45Holy shit.
32:46It's literally made of marble.
32:55Anxiety level 15.
32:57It's 25.
32:59What's the scale here?
33:011 to 10.
33:02Oh.
33:03Yes.
33:04I feel stressed.
33:05Well, I think you should stop feeling stressed.
33:07We can't get into any of the rooms on the side of the house to even start.
33:12There is a taped off wall.
33:14They literally taped us out of the rooms.
33:17Yeah.
33:18Everything's taped off.
33:19We are not allowed in rooms.
33:21No.
33:22I wanted to cry a little bit.
33:23I think you actually did cry a little bit.
33:25I think I saw a tear.
33:26Do you see?
33:28I'm actually tearing up.
33:29There we go.
33:30I am.
33:34How much longer are the plastic?
33:36$1.
33:38Okay.
33:39I have peaked.
33:41And I think that the walls are pretty much done.
33:44They are just sopping wet.
33:46We might have to move it again in a minute, though.
33:49Towards Garrett, a hair.
33:51That was two hairs.
33:53Now the whole thing.
33:54Ah!
33:55It's good.
33:56I like it.
33:57We have everything in place.
33:58And as staged as it possibly can be.
34:00But at this point, we've hit a wall.
34:01And that's a wall of plastic.
34:02Oh, God, I'm sorry.
34:03We literally are sitting around waiting on paint to dry.
34:06And because some of these walls were plaster, it takes even longer for it to dry.
34:26Because the sheetrock at least absorbs the paint.
34:32I need a little grumpy right now.
34:34Expectations, Gray.
34:36You must meet the expectations.
34:38Is that what he said?
34:39Mm-hmm.
34:40At least it feels right.
34:41We're in!
34:47Oh, my gosh.
34:48Oh, my gosh.
34:49This is exciting.
34:52This is looking good.
34:58I was talking about, like, hanging them all.
35:01Or, like, all in a row.
35:04I don't know.
35:06Like this.
35:09Adorable.
35:10Up here, though?
35:11Love.
35:12It feels like a new day.
35:14Maybe a new evening.
35:16Don't touch it.
35:18Chelsea Eastman, stop it.
35:21Stop!
35:22Looks really good.
35:24Chelsea!
35:25A little hope.
35:27It got dark there for a minute.
35:29Just for a second.
35:30For whatever, I feel like these, because of the line, I feel like any art that goes up,
35:35we should, if it's possible, we should try to have...
35:37Halfway.
35:38Yeah, so this will be our starting point.
35:40And then these can go below it.
35:42It's probably gonna be a late night.
35:44Yeah.
35:45We've done it before, and we will do it again.
35:47Do it again?
35:48Okay.
35:49Let's just do it.
35:50Good.
36:03Glad you're back from vacay.
36:04Yeah.
36:05All rested.
36:06I'm so glad.
36:07Made it back in peace.
36:08I am the opposite.
36:09We did all the work without you.
36:10Oh, so you didn't need me.
36:11Hi.
36:12Hey.
36:13How are you guys?
36:14We're excited.
36:15Good to see you.
36:16Hi.
36:17Good to see you.
36:18Yeah.
36:19You probably didn't think we were gonna make it.
36:21We had our doubts.
36:22We didn't think we were gonna make it either, but...
36:24No, we knew you would.
36:25We're excited for you to see it.
36:26We can't wait.
36:27We're excited.
36:28You ready to go?
36:29Let's do it.
36:30Let's do it.
36:35Oh, my goodness.
36:36Oh, my gosh.
36:37This color everywhere.
36:40This is stunning.
36:41Look at the trim.
36:42This looks amazing.
36:43It's different than it was.
36:45It's amazing.
36:46It feels like a completely new room.
36:48I just can't believe this is our house.
36:50It's so fun to see our stuff with, like, new life in a different way.
36:54I love how it's been flipped, too.
36:56Yeah, okay.
36:57We were hoping that you would like that.
36:59I feel like it makes sense.
37:01It does.
37:02It does.
37:03Stunning.
37:04It's amazing.
37:05But I don't have room.
37:06This is amazing.
37:07I love it so much.
37:08We're just getting started.
37:09I'm excited to show you the breakfast room, because we tried to be really sure that the
37:13two spaces tied together nicely.
37:16So, follow me.
37:17Oh, my gosh.
37:18This is stunning.
37:19I want to lay on that.
37:20Hey, you could fit, actually.
37:21We have so much more space.
37:22So much room for activities.
37:37And there's an extra leaf under here.
37:42To make this bigger.
37:43So this goes even bigger.
37:44Only a slight upgrade from our little floor top we had before.
37:47It doesn't even feel like the same space.
37:50It doesn't.
37:51I'm obsessed.
37:52And we used some of your pillows.
37:53It's yours.
37:54Yes.
37:55I love how you brought those in.
37:56Yeah.
37:57I love it.
37:58I know you were worried about it being dark, but it's super dark.
38:01Yeah.
38:02It does not feel dark.
38:03Yeah.
38:04It feels so special.
38:05It's amazing.
38:06And this is beautiful.
38:08You know, I love red and pink.
38:09Mm-hmm.
38:10So the fact that we were able to make that tie in, it's amazing.
38:14Gray and Chelsea are like the banquette queens.
38:17And I've never really bought into the banquette world.
38:20But this one makes this room work.
38:22I agree.
38:23It's perfect.
38:24Okay, good.
38:25Should we look at the rest of the kitchen?
38:27See how it all ties together?
38:31The wallpaper throughout just looks so good.
38:35It feels huge.
38:36Does it feel different?
38:37Yeah.
38:38It feels way different.
38:39It just feels open.
38:40Yeah.
38:41Look at the backsplash.
38:42I know.
38:43I love how that turned out.
38:44I was so worried about losing that window.
38:45Yeah.
38:46I knew you would be.
38:47And that feels so purposeful over there now.
38:48Yeah, it feels like it's supposed to be there.
38:50The shelves look awesome.
38:51I love these light fixtures, how they pull some of, like, from the shade over here.
38:56And it's just a little funky.
38:57Yeah.
38:58There's a lot more color and a whole lot more funk right around the corner.
39:01We like both of those things.
39:02Let's go see it.
39:03There's a lot more where this came from.
39:05Oh.
39:06Oh my goodness.
39:11Oh my gosh.
39:13Wow.
39:14This is the sweetest thing I've ever seen.
39:18Yeah.
39:19It's hard to believe that this room was, like, cut in half.
39:22Yeah.
39:23Yeah, and there used to be a door right here.
39:25I know.
39:26Yeah.
39:28Is the ceiling pink?
39:29Uh-huh.
39:30Oh.
39:31It's dipped, as they say.
39:33It is dipped.
39:34It's a half dip.
39:35A half dip.
39:36It's like one of those ice cream cones that are dipped in chocolate.
39:38My favorite kind.
39:39It's only dipped in this strawberry.
39:41And even the door is cut in half.
39:44I love it.
39:45It's perfect.
39:46That's really cool.
39:47This is the only playroom that's got a wood-burning fireplace in it.
39:52That's true.
39:53That's true.
39:54Yeah, that's true.
39:55I love this space, but I think my favorite space in this whole house is your primary suite.
40:01And I'm gonna pop if I don't get to show you soon.
40:04We should see it.
40:05Let's do it.
40:06Okay, come on in.
40:09Holy crap.
40:12Oh my goodness.
40:15This is insane.
40:18This is so beautiful.
40:19Oh my gosh.
40:20The stripes look incredible.
40:21This is so special.
40:23It is.
40:24How it brings all the colors together.
40:26Yeah.
40:27It brings in the red.
40:28It brings in the blue.
40:29Favorite room by par.
40:30This is better than you ever could have imagined.
40:32It's amazing.
40:33The windows look so cool.
40:35Yeah.
40:36So we went with the shears.
40:37I really wanted to see the red pop because it's so fun.
40:40Yeah.
40:41You know.
40:42And we've got like the scallop thing that's still, you know, it's on the light picture.
40:46It's on the lamp.
40:47It's on the bed.
40:48Yes.
40:49Hard to believe that you used to park my car right here.
40:50That's wild.
40:51I like it a little bit better now.
40:53It's just like a little bit.
40:54Just a little bit.
40:55I've never been in a bedroom like it.
40:56I know.
40:57And I love that.
40:58Yeah.
40:59No, same.
41:00And one of the nice things about having a primary suite is that you get a primary bath
41:05to go with it.
41:06Really?
41:07You do.
41:08I think that's our last room to show you.
41:10It is.
41:11Let's do it.
41:12Oh.
41:13Oh my gosh.
41:16Wow.
41:17Wow.
41:18Wow.
41:19That is crazy.
41:20What do you think?
41:21It's like art.
41:22Incredible.
41:23That's the nicest shower I've ever seen.
41:25An art piece.
41:27And we have a double vanity.
41:28A double vanity for the first time ever.
41:30We don't have to stagger our routines anymore.
41:33I put a little hidden treasure in your potty room.
41:37Can I just peek in there?
41:38Yeah.
41:39Oh.
41:40That's for Jake.
41:43I put a lady in there who's going to make sure that you close the lid when you're done.
41:48Yep.
41:49Shut it.
41:50Down.
41:51Yeah.
41:52It's amazing.
41:53Like, where I'm standing right here, I can see, like, the green.
41:57I see the pink and the red.
42:00And then I, like, see it carried through.
42:02And it's just, like, amazing how it all ties together so well.
42:05You know, we started this months ago.
42:07You had faith in us and you had no trepidation about handing your key over to us and giving
42:12us your house.
42:13We like it back.
42:15We like it back now.
42:16It won't be the same one because it wasn't colorful enough.
42:23Thank you for allowing us the freedom to do some really fun things.
42:26Yeah.
42:27That's what you guys are the best at.
42:28And you crushed it.
42:30Walking in, everything just felt new.
42:33It was just so fun.
42:35Yeah.
42:36I'm so excited.
42:37It turned out better than I ever could imagine.
42:39Yeah.
42:40This is your new playroom.
42:43It just feels like us.
42:44It feels happy.
42:45I keep saying, like, I can't believe I get to live here now.
42:49It just feels like home.
42:50Do you want to jump on the bed?
42:52Jump, jump, jump.
42:54Jump, jump, jump.
