00:00:01Just all merged with the rest of the team.
00:00:04And what it looks like we've got, and where we're staying,
00:00:06is in some cage.
00:00:08I feel like a bunch of animals with people watching us.
00:00:10The reverse zoo.
00:00:12Don't feed the animals.
00:00:14Actually, please, please feed the animals.
00:00:17The boys are outside,
00:00:19so we can fit our two new friends in here today.
00:00:23A little bit of a bone we built on the outside of the cage,
00:00:26so we know there's hippo around,
00:00:28we're not as elephants around.
00:00:30And we really do have to make sure that we're safe.
00:00:35The plan is for the outsiders to climb on top of the rage cage
00:00:40if danger approaches.
00:00:42In the distance, there are noises that we can't identify.
00:00:58What the f*** is that?
00:01:16It's like playing in that African sound.
00:01:20After battling for survival...
00:01:21What?
00:01:22Holy s***.
00:01:23What?
00:01:24What?
00:01:25What?
00:01:26What?
00:01:27What?
00:01:28What?
00:01:30You never know what's out there.
00:01:33Seriously.
00:01:35What the...
00:01:37After battling for survival...
00:01:46What?
00:01:46Holy s***.
00:01:48What?
00:01:49In a post-apocalyptic land...
00:01:52Do you want me to hold this?
00:01:53Yes.
00:01:53Oh s***.
00:01:56For 25 days...
00:01:59If I'm going to die, I'm going to die fighting.
00:02:03Definitely got him.
00:02:04Oh!
00:02:05I caught the fish!
00:02:06It's better time!
00:02:07Yeah!
00:02:08Money!
00:02:09All right, guys, let's do this.
00:02:11The three remaining teams pushed further north, toward their escape.
00:02:16Oh, my gosh.
00:02:17We need to get out of this place.
00:02:19Back to civilization.
00:02:21Targeting the last collection of viable waterholes,
00:02:24eight miles from the edge of civilization.
00:02:27Oh, thank God, it looks like it opens up.
00:02:29That's just weird.
00:02:30This is a big old cage.
00:02:32With only an abandoned cage on a failed game reserve to call home.
00:02:36What is this?
00:02:38Oh, my God!
00:02:39Two teams joined forces.
00:02:41Welcome to the race cage.
00:02:43What are we walking into?
00:02:45As Kiel scored another win for her team.
00:02:49Yeah!
00:02:49And after discovering a nearby slaughterhouse...
00:02:54Oh, creepy as hell.
00:02:56Like a butcher shop.
00:02:57There's some good materials.
00:02:59Oh, I wouldn't stay here.
00:03:00Wesson's D reached the last source of water on the map.
00:03:04What the f***?
00:03:05Hey!
00:03:07People keep showing up at her doorstep.
00:03:08But now, for the first time ever...
00:03:11There's no one coming to save us.
00:03:13We're on our own.
00:03:14There is no rescue in sight.
00:03:16There's no trucks.
00:03:18There's no helicopters.
00:03:19They must forge their own escape out of the wasteland on day 35.
00:03:24We're going on a little adventure.
00:03:40That's going to be an arduous trick through that.
00:03:43It's going to be a long slog.
00:03:44It's going to be worth it.
00:03:47Me and Wes seeing some good buildings and there's some good materials in it.
00:03:51Stay.
00:03:51So you saw some sort of structure on the way in.
00:03:54So we're just going to go up, seeing what materials we can pick up.
00:03:57We've got an escape at the end of the week.
00:03:59We all know we're going to need a lot of energy for that.
00:04:01So until we're putting food on the plate pretty regularly,
00:04:04that's going to be our number one objective every day.
00:04:08So whenever you need to take breaks, guys, like take breaks.
00:04:11It is hot.
00:04:12We don't have any water with us, so just be smart.
00:04:15Four weeks in and right from the beginning,
00:04:17it's always been surreal to me that I'm walking around naked
00:04:20in one of the harshest environments on the planet
00:04:22from the animals that want to eat you.
00:04:24from the heat that wants to kill you.
00:04:26There are all the same risks, except we're more tired.
00:04:30We're more dehydrated.
00:04:31We have less fuel than when we did when we were coming in.
00:04:33That becomes a real problem,
00:04:35especially when you're facing what could be a really arduous escape.
00:04:38It's still Africa, still the apocalypse.
00:04:41The reason I'm doing this covers up your scent,
00:04:56breaks up your contrast.
00:04:59Just grab some waterhole mud,
00:05:01full of elephant dung, fish guts,
00:05:03God knows what else.
00:05:04We need a big score.
00:05:08We have a lot of people here now.
00:05:09We have eight people.
00:05:11That's eight mouths to feed.
00:05:12That's eight hungry stomachs and a week left.
00:05:15We need one big kill.
00:05:17If not, we're going to end up having people tapping,
00:05:20and we're too close to the end to let any of that happen.
00:05:22Hopefully, I can come back with some food
00:05:25and get some protein in our bellies.
00:05:34All right.
00:05:36It's looking like I'm coming up on some water over here,
00:05:38but just from here, I can see that there's action down here.
00:05:42I got new prints.
00:05:42I got wildebeest.
00:05:43I got Impala.
00:05:44I got one, two, three.
00:05:46I got four game trails all converging,
00:05:49wrapping around this guy.
00:05:50And I got natural cover right here.
00:05:52This is perfect.
00:05:57This is an absolute unrelenting hellscape.
00:06:01It is the most temperamental place
00:06:04I have ever been on planet Earth.
00:06:06You know, from heat stroke to hypothermia
00:06:08to things that want to eat you
00:06:10to, you know, there being such very few calories
00:06:14walking around that we have access to.
00:06:16So that's what makes this challenge
00:06:18the hardest challenge I've been on yet.
00:06:20And we got to get out of this hell on Earth
00:06:22all by ourselves.
00:06:24We are not being rescued.
00:06:27I've already built up a pretty good blind area.
00:06:29I've cut down a lot of foliage.
00:06:31I'm going to hunker down here
00:06:32for about the next four hours.
00:06:34Fingers crossed.
00:06:34Something will come my way.
00:06:35Oh, is this it?
00:06:50Yep.
00:06:51Wow.
00:06:52Look at that.
00:06:53Holy s**t.
00:06:54So is this a slaughterhouse?
00:06:56Yeah, this looks like where they would haul up the animals,
00:06:59use the pulley system, drag them up, drain them, gut them,
00:07:02so they'd be able to hose them down
00:07:04and be able to work the meat.
00:07:06That's pretty wild.
00:07:07Once part of a large hunting reserve,
00:07:10this compound was used as a supply outpost
00:07:12and processing station for large game animals.
00:07:15There's a big structure in there.
00:07:18Yeah.
00:07:19Wow.
00:07:19It's pretty intense.
00:07:20Like the giraffes here and everything.
00:07:21Yeah.
00:07:23This slaughterhouse, it's just the weirdest feeling,
00:07:26the most creepy, apocalyptic, desperate place.
00:07:32Just watch out.
00:07:33Like, the slightest scratch on something in here
00:07:35is, like, tetanus waiting to happen.
00:07:37Yeah, yeah.
00:07:37I'm going to go in here next.
00:07:43You reckon this, uh, is this worth taking back?
00:07:48Decent grill in there.
00:07:49It's all sapphire.
00:07:50You catch some good mate.
00:07:52Yes.
00:07:54Another fish basket.
00:07:56Yeah.
00:07:57Awesome.
00:07:59These last few days have been a roller coaster.
00:08:03We've got so many different things going on
00:08:05in our big boma
00:08:06and so many different people handling things.
00:08:09It's definitely different
00:08:10and require a lot of adjustments.
00:08:14Waz!
00:08:15I got the panel puller
00:08:16and I got some cordage.
00:08:19What are your thoughts on the Wrigleyton?
00:08:22Thoughts on the what?
00:08:23Wrigleyton.
00:08:24Yeah, bring them.
00:08:26Good job, buddy.
00:08:28Any of that interest you?
00:08:30Let's go.
00:08:32Take that as a no.
00:08:35What's this?
00:08:37That is wire.
00:08:38Like, it's all ripped up in pieces.
00:08:39The metal's only a little rusted.
00:08:41You could use it for fishing.
00:08:43Huh.
00:08:44Each of it open up in the water
00:08:46and we drag it.
00:08:47Just drag it like a grid line,
00:08:48like a grid line.
00:08:49It's going to be hard work to get it,
00:08:50but once it's down there,
00:08:51we roll it out.
00:08:52Yeah.
00:08:53And then, like I said,
00:08:53eight people.
00:08:54Eight people can move, you know,
00:08:55ten feet of chicken wire a piece.
00:08:57There's like a long metal mesh
00:08:59that we're going to be able to use
00:09:00to maybe dredge through
00:09:01or cordon off a section,
00:09:03maybe try and get some catfish
00:09:04into a more manageable area.
00:09:05I could probably drag this
00:09:07all the way back, too.
00:09:10The corrugated iron would certainly
00:09:12give us some more shade
00:09:13during the day,
00:09:14which would allow us
00:09:14to escape this heat,
00:09:16but it would also set up
00:09:17wind walls or fire walls
00:09:19to keep in the heat at night.
00:09:20So you're going to make this
00:09:22effort back,
00:09:23this mile walk back at all
00:09:25with that wire?
00:09:26Yeah.
00:09:27All right.
00:09:31Throughout this entire challenge,
00:09:33when there is absolutely
00:09:34no resources around,
00:09:35it's literally life or death
00:09:36without the implementation
00:09:38of the man-made materials.
00:09:40And so this is our lifeline right now.
00:09:43Oh, my God.
00:09:50I've been here for about
00:09:58a million and a half hours
00:09:59and absolutely nothing.
00:10:03Something's peeing down on me.
00:10:05I think it's well into
00:10:05a hundred degrees already.
00:10:08It's not getting any cooler.
00:10:09So my best bet is to get out of here
00:10:12and back to camp.
00:10:13But it's a dangerous storm.
00:10:15I saw my prince,
00:10:17his whole life prince.
00:10:18This is still a pretty cool spot.
00:10:20And I really do think
00:10:21we're going to bring something
00:10:22out of this location here.
00:10:27God dang it, Tom.
00:10:48Honey, we're home!
00:10:50You guys brought back
00:10:51a whole house.
00:10:53I look over the corner
00:10:54and what do I see?
00:10:54I see the team
00:10:55hauling a building back.
00:10:58We can use that
00:10:58for the Rage Cage.
00:11:00All of these little things,
00:11:02these things that people
00:11:02call trash,
00:11:04are treasured to us.
00:11:05And we're going to treat them
00:11:07as such.
00:11:09Welcome back!
00:11:11Come sit, man.
00:11:12We got water.
00:11:13Good job.
00:11:13That's a lot.
00:11:14Shade, shade, shade.
00:11:15Water.
00:11:16You want some help with that?
00:11:31I'd rather you sit down.
00:11:33What are you thinking
00:11:34of doing teal?
00:11:35I'm just going to do some stuff here
00:11:37just for clocking the sun.
00:11:39We did bring back
00:11:41a lot of corrugated steel
00:11:42from the butcher's house
00:11:43and that will be resourceful
00:11:45for many things.
00:11:46Right now,
00:11:47the best use of it
00:11:48is blocking this
00:11:49intense afternoon sun.
00:11:52You put a few up there,
00:11:54are you, Maith?
00:11:55I'm doing it.
00:11:56Yeah, no problem.
00:11:57I don't need any help.
00:11:59As soon as you put them
00:12:00two sheets up,
00:12:01you can feel the temperature drop.
00:12:02Come in here
00:12:03and tell them
00:12:04feel this.
00:12:06I'm serious.
00:12:08Even though I have
00:12:08a large personality,
00:12:10I am not somebody
00:12:12who's extremely sociable.
00:12:14I've been doing pretty good
00:12:16for the most part of this,
00:12:18but these last few days
00:12:20have been absolutely exhausting.
00:12:23I'm mentally spent.
00:12:26Well, thanks to you.
00:12:29I'm sure at night
00:12:30we won't want it,
00:12:30but perhaps now
00:12:32it's good.
00:12:43So what are you guys doing?
00:12:44We're going to stretch out
00:12:46this chicken wire
00:12:47so it unrolls that way.
00:12:49Cool.
00:12:50We got this chicken wire
00:12:51from up at the slaughterhouse
00:12:52and we're just going to
00:12:54unroll it
00:12:54and walk it out there,
00:12:56pull it around
00:12:57through the water
00:12:57and just sort of
00:12:58see how it acts,
00:12:59see what the fish do,
00:13:00that heavy.
00:13:01This bed's got a big hole,
00:13:02like there's a lot of holes
00:13:03in the middle.
00:13:03Yeah, we got some
00:13:05rugged parts here.
00:13:06You want to do a test run?
00:13:07Absolutely.
00:13:08If we come in right here
00:13:09at an angle
00:13:09and just quarantine
00:13:10this piece of the pond off.
00:13:13Measuring over 60 feet,
00:13:14the rusty chicken wire
00:13:15will be stretched
00:13:16across the narrowest part
00:13:18of the pond
00:13:18and down to the mud floor.
00:13:21The team must work
00:13:22in unison
00:13:22to corral the fish
00:13:23toward the shore
00:13:24while blocking
00:13:25the gaps and holes
00:13:26in the wire.
00:13:28All right,
00:13:28who's leading
00:13:28this expedition?
00:13:29So Woz is just
00:13:30heading that way.
00:13:31Everyone seems
00:13:32going to follow me across.
00:13:33And then we're going
00:13:34to spread out
00:13:34along this thing.
00:13:36There's eight people
00:13:36here now.
00:13:37It needs more mouths
00:13:37to feed.
00:13:38But in a situation
00:13:39like this,
00:13:40it can be
00:13:40a total advantage
00:13:41because, you know,
00:13:42you got more
00:13:42hands on deck.
00:13:45It's getting hotter
00:13:46to f***.
00:13:47Yeah.
00:13:47I feel like I'm
00:13:47dragging it.
00:13:48Yeah, keep going.
00:13:49Yeah, drag's good.
00:13:50Yeah, that's how
00:13:51it should feel.
00:13:52We're trying
00:13:53to let the net
00:13:53just stay right
00:13:54on the ground level.
00:13:55Okay.
00:13:56I'll let her drag
00:13:57a little.
00:13:58You guys want
00:13:59to cut it in?
00:14:00We're going to start
00:14:00bringing it in.
00:14:01Yeah.
00:14:02Sorry, I'm having
00:14:03to move mine
00:14:04through the mud
00:14:05because it's in the mud.
00:14:06It needs to be
00:14:06in the mud.
00:14:07That's what I mean,
00:14:08so I'm having
00:14:08to push it
00:14:09from the bottom.
00:14:09I'm using my foot.
00:14:11We kind of got
00:14:11to stomp
00:14:12the whole thing.
00:14:13I'm finding
00:14:13huge gaps
00:14:15down here.
00:14:16There's some holes
00:14:16in the line
00:14:17in the net here.
00:14:18There's a hole,
00:14:19yep, there.
00:14:20I think from here,
00:14:21guys, we do one thing
00:14:21at a time.
00:14:22We go slow,
00:14:22we do it right.
00:14:23Absolutely.
00:14:23I got swirls
00:14:24in front of me.
00:14:25Oh, yeah.
00:14:26Yeah, fish right there.
00:14:27Oh, look at all these.
00:14:28Two of them then.
00:14:29Yep, yep.
00:14:30They're not happy.
00:14:32All of a sudden,
00:14:32I can see
00:14:33the turbulence
00:14:34on top of the water
00:14:34just move a little bit.
00:14:35Little splashes
00:14:36and little kicks.
00:14:37For me,
00:14:37it just turned it
00:14:38real serious real fast.
00:14:40Yeah, man.
00:14:40Hang on, hang on, hang on.
00:14:41Oh, they are coming.
00:14:42I've lost their hole.
00:14:44Hang on.
00:14:44Everyone pause.
00:14:45Everyone good?
00:14:46Oh, this hole
00:14:46is getting bigger.
00:14:47Keep it going.
00:14:48Yeah, I'm just trying
00:14:49to hold the hole together
00:14:50and push it through
00:14:50the mud.
00:14:51I say we keep pushing.
00:14:54It's all right.
00:14:54That's all right.
00:14:55That's all right.
00:14:55Just one.
00:14:56Just one.
00:14:56Keep that gap.
00:14:57Do you want me to switch
00:14:58or switch out?
00:14:59Yeah, I think you're
00:15:00going to have a better chance.
00:15:01He was a big boy as well.
00:15:02He was.
00:15:03We've got more than that.
00:15:04And I didn't want to do that.
00:15:05The fish,
00:15:06they're literally jumping
00:15:06over the chicken wire
00:15:08right now.
00:15:08You know,
00:15:09there's a lot going on.
00:15:10We see food leaving
00:15:11and tensions are rough.
00:15:13Hold on.
00:15:13Hold on.
00:15:14I can't close this gap
00:15:15underwater.
00:15:16I can't close this gap
00:15:16underwater.
00:15:17Hold on.
00:15:18Who's just like
00:15:18one commander on movement.
00:15:20Who's the commander?
00:15:20Who's the commander
00:15:21of movement?
00:15:22When we move in,
00:15:23pull towards me
00:15:24so I can push it over here.
00:15:25Yep.
00:15:26That way our neck
00:15:26gets smaller
00:15:27and we tighten
00:15:28the hole here.
00:15:29I'm catching
00:15:29whatever the f***
00:15:30comes through here
00:15:31if I try.
00:15:33I got him.
00:15:35Oh, he's grabbing.
00:15:36He's grabbing.
00:15:37My fingers are getting
00:15:38f***ing tortoise straight.
00:15:40Yep.
00:15:40I feel you.
00:15:43Jumped right
00:15:44through that hole.
00:15:45What?
00:15:45I'm going to grab him.
00:15:46Come on.
00:15:48There's a hole.
00:15:49There's a hole
00:15:49on your foot, Steve.
00:15:50I got it.
00:15:51I got it.
00:15:52Yes.
00:15:54Come on.
00:15:55Hold up your side.
00:15:56Hold up your side.
00:15:57As we funnel
00:15:58up to the bank
00:15:59and we're seeing fish
00:16:00fighting and flopping
00:16:01and just coming
00:16:02right out of the water.
00:16:04Hold up your side.
00:16:06Start.
00:16:07Start granny in the mouth.
00:16:08The adrenaline
00:16:09is just rushing
00:16:10through us.
00:16:11Where's that
00:16:11f***ing cat?
00:16:12Here.
00:16:12What?
00:16:13Let's go.
00:16:14No.
00:16:15Come on.
00:16:16Come on.
00:16:21Come on.
00:16:23Oh.
00:16:24Oh.
00:16:25Where's that f***ing cat?
00:16:27Here.
00:16:28Here.
00:16:28Let's go.
00:16:29Come on.
00:16:30I can't.
00:16:32No.
00:16:33No.
00:16:34Lift it up.
00:16:35Lift it up.
00:16:35Lift it up.
00:16:35Lift it up.
00:16:36Lift it up.
00:16:37Lift it up.
00:16:37Lift it up.
00:16:38Lift it up.
00:16:38Got one.
00:16:39That one.
00:16:40Hey, I'm on a f***ing cat.
00:16:41There's another one there.
00:16:42Get them all.
00:16:43Lift it up.
00:16:43Lift it up.
00:16:43Lift up.
00:16:44Lift up.
00:16:44Lift up.
00:16:44Lift up.
00:16:45Lift it up.
00:16:45Lift up.
00:16:46Lift it up.
00:16:46I don't know it.
00:16:47No, he's not.
00:16:48No, he's not.
00:16:48I got one.
00:16:50I got a huge one.
00:16:51Where do I take it?
00:16:53You and me are out.
00:16:53You and me are out.
00:16:54You and me are in his jaw.
00:16:56I'm in his jaw.
00:16:57I just need somebody to back me up.
00:16:58I'm there.
00:16:59I'm right on top of it.
00:16:59No, you've got to have a gill.
00:17:01You've got to have a gill.
00:17:02I got it.
00:17:03Yes!
00:17:05Yes!
00:17:06Yes, girl.
00:17:08F***ing cat.
00:17:08Get this off.
00:17:09Get this off.
00:17:11There you go.
00:17:14I got another here.
00:17:14Blocking the path.
00:17:16That's okay.
00:17:17Blocking the path.
00:17:18There you go.
00:17:21Yes!
00:17:22You got him, let him know you got him.
00:17:23You got him.
00:17:26Yes!
00:17:27Yes!
00:17:28Yes!
00:17:30Oh, f***ing hell!
00:17:33Yes!
00:17:36Neil, get up here!
00:17:38Oh, yeah!
00:17:41Yes!
00:17:43Yeah!
00:17:43Fish!
00:17:45Pretty great.
00:17:46Look at these guys, man!
00:17:47What does this make?
00:17:48One, two, three, four, five, six.
00:17:50I think there's eight.
00:17:52Seven, eight.
00:17:53Yeah.
00:17:53We caught eight fish, and there are eight of us.
00:17:56So it's very serendipitous.
00:17:58So how do you grab this bar?
00:17:59Like this, look.
00:18:00There.
00:18:01Reach all the way inside his mouth.
00:18:03This way.
00:18:03Yeah, you're not going to bite you.
00:18:05Okay.
00:18:06A collective effort to put food on the table,
00:18:09and we've come up with a win,
00:18:10and what a beautiful f***ing win it is.
00:18:12Never caught a catfish,
00:18:14never held a catfish.
00:18:16F***ing epic.
00:18:17I feel like I succeeded,
00:18:19even if it wasn't an individual effort.
00:18:21Teammates to win,
00:18:22and that's all that counts.
00:18:23This is a ridiculous amount of food.
00:18:27We might have to hang a couple up
00:18:28and smoke them overnight.
00:18:29Great amount of food.
00:18:30We can smoke them right on our rack, too.
00:18:33You've got to get to work gutting these things pronto.
00:18:35We've got some work ahead of us.
00:18:37Hey, I'll start gutting.
00:18:38Yeah, I'm with you, buddy.
00:18:39I mean, this is just insane.
00:18:53Everybody's working, doing their jobs.
00:18:56We've got teal filleting.
00:18:57We've got Joe over here stringing fillets.
00:19:00We're going to smoke those for tomorrow.
00:19:02That way we're going to have a fillet each tonight.
00:19:04We're going to have a huge hunk of fish tonight,
00:19:06and we're going to have backup fish for the next couple days.
00:19:14I've never seen a whole fish smoked.
00:19:16Yeah.
00:19:17I'm not sure that that's going to work.
00:19:20Cooking a whole fish takes longer.
00:19:22If you don't fillet it,
00:19:23it takes longer for the heat to evenly cook all of the flesh.
00:19:27Anything that thick is a risk for spoilage.
00:19:31I think with that smoky flavor, dude,
00:19:33and we'll just let him simmer all day tomorrow,
00:19:36and we'll see.
00:19:50Wow.
00:19:51Yes.
00:19:52Literal tray of meat.
00:19:59How is it, guys?
00:20:00Divine.
00:20:01Amazing.
00:20:02Yes.
00:20:02Oh, my God.
00:20:04You just shake it off the bone.
00:20:06Did good, Frank.
00:20:09It just goes to show that, like,
00:20:11you can be having the worst day in the world,
00:20:13and it can turn itself around.
00:20:16Incredible.
00:20:17That was some tribal fishing right there.
00:20:18I was.
00:20:19Yeah.
00:20:19Yeah.
00:20:19Yeah, that's so good.
00:20:36Yeah, I think that's the best look I've had out here.
00:20:38Yeah, it was great.
00:20:39Everybody was like, ow.
00:20:41I hung up a couple times,
00:20:43and I'm like, this is a beautiful sight.
00:20:44It's not even moving.
00:20:48Everyone slept really, really well last night
00:20:51because we have full bellies,
00:20:52but we woke up to this.
00:20:54Just having the clouds
00:20:55has probably dropped the temperature 15 degrees.
00:20:59It's going to f***ing rain.
00:21:02We were up at slaughterhouse yesterday.
00:21:03There was still some stuff up there
00:21:05we could bring back down.
00:21:06Yeah.
00:21:06We could start doing some sort of shelter.
00:21:09Looking at the clouds,
00:21:10we know some rain was going to come in,
00:21:12so we're going to go back to the butcher house
00:21:13and see what materials we can collect.
00:21:15And here we need to put a roof on the shelter.
00:21:17All right, ladies, we'll be back.
00:21:19The only other day I remember like this
00:21:21was the day before the torrential rain.
00:21:24Oh, my God.
00:21:26There's nowhere to hide,
00:21:27and I am just losing.
00:21:30This is camping weather.
00:21:32This is really f***ing hot.
00:21:34I can suffer.
00:21:36But I'm only human.
00:21:37And that worries me a little bit
00:21:41because we're in a very precarious position
00:21:44with our shelter.
00:21:45We might be secure and safe from outside animals,
00:21:49but we are way less secure
00:21:51with absolutely zero waterproof shelter
00:21:54when it comes to the weather.
00:22:04I can't remember if there was any wriggly tin on the floor.
00:22:06Well, let me just have a look what this is here real quick.
00:22:09Yeah.
00:22:13This looks like it used to be a really nice place.
00:22:16That's what we're going to look at now.
00:22:18Is that solid enough?
00:22:20Is that solid enough?
00:22:21Yeah, I know.
00:22:22Rock solid.
00:22:24Mate.
00:22:25I've never been here before,
00:22:26so I just want to put my eyes on everything.
00:22:33Yes.
00:22:33Seeing that one there,
00:22:35what's hanging down,
00:22:36sort of wrapped up in that wire.
00:22:45There's no telling what happened here,
00:22:47but I wish these walls could talk.
00:22:53Oh, happy days.
00:22:55I started digging a trench around the rage cage,
00:23:13and I'm going to make this as deep as possible,
00:23:19and then I want to run it all the way back
00:23:24behind the Boma,
00:23:27and then same for the other side.
00:23:31It's becoming more and more obvious
00:23:32that this rain is moving in faster than we expected.
00:23:36We have no idea how much rain is coming,
00:23:38so we really do need to have our plan in place.
00:23:42The trench is just going to make it
00:23:43so that we don't get flooding.
00:23:44Everybody's got a different comfort zone.
00:23:46I know mine is not getting wet.
00:23:49Okay.
00:23:53We brought a wedge that's also epic for digging.
00:23:56Come on, grab your wedge and jump in.
00:23:58Do whatever you want.
00:23:58Oh, no, no, no.
00:23:59I'm just saying for you as an option,
00:24:00like if it really helped us in digging,
00:24:03it's an alternative option
00:24:04if you wanted to try it at any...
00:24:06If you have a great idea,
00:24:07then my personal preference is you just do it.
00:24:10Okay.
00:24:10I'm not much for...
00:24:12I'll just leave you to it.
00:24:13...advisement.
00:24:14I will just leave you to it.
00:24:16I get it.
00:24:16I get it.
00:24:16There might be a better way to do it,
00:24:18but the best way to show that is...
00:24:19No, I'm not saying there's a better way.
00:24:20I'm just offering an alternative if you needed it.
00:24:24I made a couple of suggestions to Teal.
00:24:27Unfortunately, they weren't taken very well,
00:24:29and in this apocalyptic wasteland of a place,
00:24:34your stress response,
00:24:35your fight-and-flight response every single day
00:24:38is at its absolute maximum.
00:24:40Let's just be quiet for the next two hours.
00:24:43Nice.
00:24:44But what the f*** is this?
00:24:47No one really wants to get their head snapped off.
00:24:57Oh, nice!
00:24:58And stronger for their team.
00:25:01We are coming back with a boatload of sheet metal.
00:25:04Just in time?
00:25:06Because the rain is coming.
00:25:07One, two, three.
00:25:31Anywhere in here.
00:25:33Right here?
00:25:34Yeah.
00:25:34We decided it was time to go ahead and assemble the roof.
00:25:38And so, you know, I'm an engineer,
00:25:40and we're going to make an interior roof for the cage.
00:25:45Wes's plan calls for two scavenged poles
00:25:47to be placed through the grid of the cage,
00:25:50one slightly higher than the other,
00:25:52then layering on sheets of corrugated steel
00:25:55to create a pitched roof
00:25:57that redirects water out one side of the cage.
00:26:01Yeah, is that...
00:26:03Then you go left one?
00:26:04Down, down, down, down and over, over.
00:26:07This way.
00:26:08That way, there you go.
00:26:10Here?
00:26:10Let's go right here.
00:26:11Yeah, sure.
00:26:12Nice.
00:26:13Let's go.
00:26:14We also have to start the Wrigley tin at the back
00:26:16if we want the appropriate overlap.
00:26:17Yeah, I gotcha, I gotcha.
00:26:19One, two, three, four.
00:26:20Yeah.
00:26:20So we can actually get another one on that side
00:26:22if you want to cover the fire.
00:26:24Wes is amazing.
00:26:25We are layering the tin roofing
00:26:27just like you would
00:26:28when putting up an actual tin roof.
00:26:29But we're doing it inside of the structure.
00:26:32What we could do
00:26:33is kind of leave it open.
00:26:34And then when it gets crazy,
00:26:36all we got to do is boop, boop.
00:26:37That way we can stand around, you know?
00:26:39Stack them in there.
00:26:42There you go.
00:26:42Yeah, if we need them,
00:26:44if we need them,
00:26:44then they're in there.
00:26:46Those fish look so good.
00:26:49They're like smoke-cooked right now.
00:26:51Good job, team.
00:26:53Well done.
00:26:54Internal roof.
00:26:55That's new.
00:26:57You let me know if you need help, too.
00:26:58Let's go.
00:27:18Holy s***.
00:27:21Holy crap.
00:27:22The roof is loose.
00:27:23I knew that was going to happen.
00:27:35Here, I want to go this way.
00:27:38I'm wiring.
00:27:40You've got to wrap that thing on there.
00:27:42What's your face?
00:27:44You know, we're dropping your gun
00:27:45with wire everywhere.
00:27:47Perfect.
00:27:48I can't see my guards.
00:27:49What are you doing, boop?
00:27:53I'm trying to give you some lights.
00:27:54Okay, now, can you just duck
00:27:56when you're done talking
00:27:57so that you won't get hit with wire?
00:28:00Oh, I'm trying to say.
00:28:02Okay, turn that s*** off, then.
00:28:04Let's f***ing see.
00:28:05What?
00:28:06What?
00:28:07I said it like three times, bro.
00:28:10All I said is, please duck.
00:28:13There's a lot of wire moving around
00:28:15when you're done with it.
00:28:17Guess what?
00:28:17Nobody knows.
00:28:19That's so bit so creepy.
00:28:21During the night,
00:28:45we had to get panels in place
00:28:47when the wind got really bad.
00:28:49That's hard to do in the dark,
00:28:50but honestly,
00:28:51it's harder to do
00:28:52when everybody's just talking a lot,
00:28:54especially Joe.
00:28:55That was probably more frustrating
00:28:57than the task itself.
00:29:00Teal is great,
00:29:01but during the high winds,
00:29:03she snapped at me.
00:29:04I tried to give her a light
00:29:05and she yelled at me.
00:29:07You know, I was really surprised.
00:29:09And I feel like that's not conducive
00:29:11to what this group is here to do.
00:29:14Damn.
00:29:16Not good.
00:29:17So this morning as I'm trying
00:29:19to get the pot to boil,
00:29:21I noticed that the flies
00:29:22are all over the smoked fish.
00:29:24Smoking anything that's that thick
00:29:26takes a lot of tending
00:29:27because not only do we have
00:29:29the flies out here,
00:29:30but just the air temperature out here
00:29:32is really quick to spoil anything.
00:29:35How's that stuff coming?
00:29:37I'm trying to keep the slides off of those.
00:29:40Ooh, that stinks.
00:29:42Not good.
00:29:43Smell it.
00:29:44No, I don't want to.
00:29:45Do we need to just lower it?
00:29:47I think that one's done.
00:29:49So I can...
00:29:50Ooh.
00:29:51Oh, yeah.
00:29:53As soon as I squeeze it,
00:29:55I immediately know.
00:29:56It feels like it's got
00:29:57a bunch of air bubbles in it.
00:29:59And I'm like, oof.
00:30:00I could smell it right then.
00:30:02And I'm like, yep.
00:30:03They're bad.
00:30:04Bring it to somebody else's attention,
00:30:06not mine.
00:30:07Yeah.
00:30:07I don't want to be the one
00:30:08that makes that decision.
00:30:09Yeah, I'll make it.
00:30:10No, it's done.
00:30:11There's no decision to be made.
00:30:12I was told just to drive home.
00:30:14With four days left,
00:30:15I do not want to be removed
00:30:17from this challenge
00:30:17with stomach issues,
00:30:18vomiting, diarrhea,
00:30:20and all of that
00:30:21is not only a quick way
00:30:23to get extremely dehydrated,
00:30:25but that's the type of sickness
00:30:26that I don't think
00:30:27my body can handle
00:30:28at this point.
00:30:29So them four catfish
00:30:31are toast, dude.
00:30:32I mean, they're rotten.
00:30:33Smoked ones?
00:30:34Smoked ones?
00:30:35The smoked ones?
00:30:36Yeah.
00:30:36Squeeze them.
00:30:37You'll see bubbles
00:30:38come out the spine holes
00:30:39and it reeks of rot.
00:30:40Really?
00:30:41Really, really.
00:30:43They should have been stripped,
00:30:44deboned.
00:30:45That sucks.
00:30:46That surprises,
00:30:47that surprises the out of me.
00:30:48Yeah, they're probably too high.
00:30:50I just think
00:30:51they weren't opened up.
00:30:52Well, I was wondering
00:30:53how that was going to work.
00:30:54I've never seen
00:30:55a whole fish smoked.
00:30:56Man, I've done it a few times.
00:30:58Maybe they were too high.
00:31:00They hung the fish up
00:31:02the wrong way.
00:31:03They needed to be deboned.
00:31:04You know,
00:31:04you could leave them
00:31:05on the head.
00:31:06You just got to cut
00:31:07that backbone out
00:31:08and use sticks
00:31:09to keep the fillets apart.
00:31:11That turned out
00:31:11to be a bad move.
00:31:12When everybody realized
00:31:16the four fish were spoiled,
00:31:17it really was a huge problem.
00:31:19Maybe I dropped the ball on that.
00:31:20So now,
00:31:22I'm worried about
00:31:23putting more food on the table.
00:31:26Well, we can do another
00:31:27chain game.
00:31:29Yeah.
00:31:29Yeah.
00:31:30Are you ready?
00:31:31You ready?
00:31:31I'm ready.
00:31:32Let's go get some fish
00:31:33out of the water.
00:31:35And now we have to think
00:31:38about the chicken wire.
00:31:39We could give it
00:31:40another run today
00:31:41and see if we can't
00:31:42get some more food.
00:31:43There are lots of catfish
00:31:44moving around
00:31:45in that pond still.
00:31:46Should we just stretch it out?
00:31:47Yeah, let's stretch
00:31:47this whole thing out.
00:31:50So we've got the poultry wire
00:31:52from the slaughterhouse.
00:31:54This is rusty
00:31:55and falling apart.
00:31:56There's holes that are beginning
00:31:57to get much bigger.
00:31:59I remember there was one spot
00:32:00where we had a couple
00:32:01big ones get out,
00:32:02just like a rip.
00:32:03Look at this.
00:32:04Right here.
00:32:04This is only joined on
00:32:06by a couple bits of wire.
00:32:08Look at this, Stephen.
00:32:09Oh, my God.
00:32:10This is the gap
00:32:10I was trying to hold close.
00:32:12Well, that'll never work.
00:32:14Nope.
00:32:14Can't believe this.
00:32:15This is crazy.
00:32:16Yeah, that's nuts.
00:32:17The chicken wire's too skinny
00:32:19and it's kind of
00:32:20off the table today,
00:32:21but it's still important
00:32:22to work on getting
00:32:23protein sources other ways.
00:32:25We need everybody
00:32:26to help us do that.
00:32:27I'll go hunt.
00:32:28Good luck to you.
00:32:29Slay, darling.
00:32:31You too, Joe.
00:32:33Thank you, Frank.
00:32:33Good luck.
00:32:35Hydrate up.
00:32:37Yeah.
00:32:39I know.
00:32:41I don't even know
00:32:41if she's going to hunt.
00:32:42I think she's going to sit
00:32:43in a blinds.
00:32:43She's going to have to be
00:32:44with us all day.
00:32:45Yeah.
00:32:46That's why she brought
00:32:46her to ski over there.
00:32:48I don't know what's happened
00:32:49with Teal,
00:32:50but Teal's been great
00:32:51as a partner.
00:32:52You know,
00:32:53we've been together
00:32:53since day one.
00:32:55Oh, Miss Teal.
00:32:56Oh, sir.
00:32:57I got you a prezzy.
00:32:59That is so awesome.
00:33:01She's happy to just,
00:33:02you know,
00:33:03keep working away,
00:33:04keep chipping away
00:33:05at the jobs
00:33:05that need to be done.
00:33:07There we go.
00:33:08Good.
00:33:09That's what I'm talking about.
00:33:16So this is very different
00:33:17to see her in this space,
00:33:19but being in such a tough environment
00:33:22with an apocalyptic challenge
00:33:23like this,
00:33:24there's no words
00:33:25that can describe
00:33:26what your body goes through
00:33:27and especially
00:33:29what your mind goes through.
00:33:30She got a bit of an anger
00:33:31out last night
00:33:32at one in the morning
00:33:34when she started
00:33:36screaming at Jo.
00:33:37Jo, yeah.
00:33:38Maybe all that pent up
00:33:40just came out
00:33:41and she's back to normal.
00:33:42Yeah.
00:33:43Yeah.
00:33:50Having eight survivalists
00:33:52inside a cell
00:33:53when you have
00:33:54no personal space
00:33:55is like the most
00:33:56miserable conditions possible.
00:33:59The fact that I'm starving
00:34:00and energy depleted
00:34:02in general
00:34:03makes that kind of situation
00:34:05even harder for me.
00:34:07So for me,
00:34:08I really need to find a way
00:34:10to recharge.
00:34:17I can hear the Egyptian news.
00:34:23I decided to see
00:34:30if I could sneak up on them,
00:34:31but they're very, very smart
00:34:33and I couldn't get
00:34:35within 40 yards or so.
00:34:40Time to head back.
00:34:44Unfortunately.
00:34:45You know, this challenge,
00:34:56it's been
00:34:56just a emotional,
00:34:59mental, physical roller coaster
00:35:00starting off
00:35:02in the complete burnt desolation.
00:35:04This is like a death march.
00:35:07Surviving there
00:35:09for 22 days,
00:35:11you know,
00:35:1217 of them
00:35:12on my own.
00:35:16Starting to get
00:35:17a little blackout.
00:35:18It's incredibly difficult.
00:35:20But what I know
00:35:25about myself
00:35:26is I've got more
00:35:27in me.
00:35:30Keep away, mother******.
00:35:33Now,
00:35:34this group
00:35:35has been probably
00:35:36the best thing
00:35:37that happened
00:35:38on this challenge
00:35:39for me.
00:35:41It's nice to be
00:35:42in a group dynamic.
00:35:44I want to provide
00:35:45for everybody.
00:35:46I want to have
00:35:46a nice big meal.
00:35:48I want to feel
00:35:49a chill way
00:35:50of watching
00:35:50people eat this
00:35:51and kill.
00:35:53Everybody wants
00:35:54to get fed.
00:35:54I want to be
00:35:55the one to do it.
00:35:58I can hear
00:35:58trees cracking
00:36:00right off the distance.
00:36:11Son of a bitch.
00:36:15Ran into some elephants
00:36:16and the wind
00:36:17was blowing
00:36:18towards them
00:36:19so they could smell me
00:36:20and we just
00:36:20keep crossing paths.
00:36:22I'm taking
00:36:22every single chance
00:36:23that I can get out here
00:36:24just to make sure
00:36:26I'm in a position
00:36:27where I could have
00:36:27an opportunity
00:36:28to shoot
00:36:28and gain a kill.
00:36:31Again,
00:36:32elephants are getting
00:36:33in the way of success.
00:36:34It really sucks.
00:36:35It really sucks.
00:36:35Is that my naked family
00:36:51over there?
00:36:54Any action?
00:36:57Nothing new.
00:36:58We've got to just
00:36:59keep trying.
00:37:00Every day.
00:37:02Hydrate up.
00:37:03No, I don't want to.
00:37:04The sun's popping off
00:37:05so definitely hydrate.
00:37:11Do you get some water?
00:37:12No.
00:37:14You sure to?
00:37:14I said no thanks.
00:37:17For whatever reason,
00:37:18I feel like
00:37:19every time
00:37:20I get back to camp
00:37:21it just makes
00:37:22my skin crawl.
00:37:24I just feel like
00:37:24it's the same story.
00:37:26Every day
00:37:26I feel like
00:37:27I'm imprisoned.
00:37:32Not sure
00:37:33what's going on
00:37:33with Teal right now.
00:37:34You know,
00:37:35she's rude,
00:37:36really impolite.
00:37:37She turned into
00:37:38a person
00:37:39that I really
00:37:39don't recognize.
00:37:41A little
00:37:41stung on her neck shelves.
00:37:43Yeah.
00:37:44I feel like
00:37:44she's just constantly
00:37:45waging a war
00:37:45in her head right now.
00:37:47Yeah.
00:37:48That brings the morale
00:37:49down of the entire group.
00:37:51Definitely.
00:37:53Honest to God, man,
00:37:54like if she
00:37:54doesn't figure this out,
00:37:56I can't imagine
00:37:57it's going to be
00:37:58healthy for her.
00:38:13It's going to be
00:38:14a cooker today.
00:38:15Yeah.
00:38:15Do you feel it?
00:38:17I know.
00:38:18It's hot.
00:38:23I'm going on.
00:38:24All right, Teal,
00:38:27good luck out there.
00:38:28Thanks.
00:38:29Send in Mojo
00:38:30your way.
00:38:31She's totally
00:38:32different this moment,
00:38:32isn't she?
00:38:33She's like
00:38:33all pey again.
00:38:35Perky's a strong word.
00:38:36Yeah.
00:38:40When it comes
00:38:41to the end
00:38:41of these challenges,
00:38:42people go about
00:38:44their emotions
00:38:45in different ways.
00:38:46But we're days away
00:38:47from leaving this place.
00:38:49And I need everybody
00:38:50in the right head space,
00:38:51body space,
00:38:52mind space,
00:38:53soul space
00:38:54to make sure
00:38:55that we cross
00:38:55that finish line
00:38:56together.
00:38:57I think Teal
00:38:58just needs to come down.
00:39:00She's using
00:39:01all the coping strategies
00:39:02that she has
00:39:03to get through this.
00:39:04But I feel like
00:39:04she's just fighting
00:39:05herself every day.
00:39:06I saw some egg nests,
00:39:22so I'm going to go
00:39:23and see if I can
00:39:24get those down,
00:39:26see if maybe
00:39:26they have eggs
00:39:27in them still.
00:39:29The people around me
00:39:30are making me crazy.
00:39:33It's just hard.
00:39:34It's always just hard.
00:39:43These are the nests.
00:39:47They hang like that.
00:39:51As you can see
00:39:52in this one right here,
00:39:53there are no eggs.
00:39:55Of course.
00:39:56Oh, yeah.
00:40:06Whew.
00:40:08Lordy, lordy.
00:40:10All right.
00:40:12I've got some water
00:40:13hole up here.
00:40:14See what kind
00:40:15of sign's there.
00:40:18Got some fresh
00:40:19dyker tracks,
00:40:21some warthog tracks.
00:40:22So, yeah,
00:40:27I think this is
00:40:28a good spot
00:40:28for a blind.
00:40:31After five weeks
00:40:32of surviving
00:40:33in this wasteland,
00:40:35getting food now
00:40:36is more critical
00:40:37than ever.
00:40:38I'm worried about
00:40:38escape and getting
00:40:40to that finish line.
00:40:43Teal is definitely
00:40:43struggling the most
00:40:44out here.
00:40:45I know what
00:40:46an amazing,
00:40:47resilient woman
00:40:48she is,
00:40:48but if she's
00:40:49going to hang
00:40:49on to the end,
00:40:50she needs some protein
00:40:51or something to eat,
00:40:53then that's exactly
00:40:53what I'm going to do.
00:40:54Get another kill
00:40:55for my team
00:40:56and myself.
00:40:57Here we go.
00:40:58So I got a shade
00:40:59right here,
00:41:00a good view
00:41:00of the watering hole.
00:41:02So this is going
00:41:03to be home
00:41:03for a while.
00:41:04I'm going to hunt
00:41:05this right here.
00:41:07All right.
00:41:08You can feel
00:41:16that heat.
00:41:18As a team,
00:41:19you know,
00:41:20we got real
00:41:20camp dynamics now
00:41:22and people
00:41:23are struggling.
00:41:24And for me,
00:41:26I think that's where
00:41:26the mental part
00:41:27of this challenge
00:41:28comes in.
00:41:30This is my third time
00:41:31in South Africa.
00:41:32Oh, the pain
00:41:34is so bad.
00:41:35First time
00:41:36I was med tapped.
00:41:37My last one standing,
00:41:39I left.
00:41:39I've got no food.
00:41:40This is just terrible.
00:41:42And that's really
00:41:43haunted me for years.
00:41:45Holy crap.
00:41:47That's given me
00:41:47the motivation
00:41:48to fight through
00:41:49all the really
00:41:50tough times out here.
00:41:54Holy s***.
00:41:56All right.
00:41:56Oh!
00:41:58Keep an eye out
00:41:59for that crow.
00:42:00Yeah, I see him.
00:42:02And I had a black mamba
00:42:03one foot from my head.
00:42:05He bites you
00:42:06and you're dead.
00:42:07So,
00:42:09if all that
00:42:10was for nothing,
00:42:11that would be
00:42:11soul crushing.
00:42:13There's hippos
00:42:13in the water
00:42:14and there's me.
00:42:15And I'm hoping
00:42:16that we can see
00:42:17impalas,
00:42:19dikers,
00:42:20kudu,
00:42:20anything
00:42:21come in
00:42:22within about
00:42:2320 yards.
00:42:24If that happens,
00:42:25we got a real
00:42:26opportunity.
00:42:27So,
00:42:28I'll sit
00:42:29and sit quietly.
00:42:31To not make it
00:42:32out of this apocalypse
00:42:33on day 35
00:42:34would be a feeling
00:42:35I wouldn't wish
00:42:36on anyone.
00:42:37We have to eat, but right now I don't even feel like eating.
00:43:07I'm just exhausted, so exhausted.
00:43:25It is an absolute scorcher today.
00:43:28This is the hottest day I have ever experienced in my 45 years of life.
00:43:35The top of the water feels like you're stepping into a hot bath.
00:43:41I don't even know how to describe it.
00:43:42This is probably my hardest day yet.
00:43:44The heat will take people out faster than any wild animal possibly can, so it's hard
00:43:49to get words out.
00:43:50Words are hard.
00:43:51It's hard to get in my mouth like five seconds after I step out into the heat.
00:44:09Time is ticking by, and I haven't seen anything.
00:44:12That sucks.
00:44:13At this point, it's the hottest part of the day.
00:44:17Time to go back to the shelter.
00:44:20Hydrate.
00:44:21That's enough for now.
00:44:25We really have to pay attention to our hydration.
00:44:27This late in the challenge, your body is already hurting.
00:44:31You know, it's in basic starvation mode, and it has been for a while, so dehydration can
00:44:35send you a downhill spiral.
00:44:40I see something.
00:44:45There's a dove.
00:44:46That close.
00:44:47Just missed a dove over there, a water hole.
00:45:02It's been a long day.
00:45:03I've been in this blind for hours.
00:45:05I need to get back, get some water.
00:45:08It's time to get a drink, and try to get another day.
00:45:23Jill!
00:45:25What's happening?
00:45:26Not much.
00:45:27Any action?
00:45:29A lot of cool stuff, yeah.
00:45:33Yeah.
00:45:34I'll get some water.
00:45:36Cool.
00:45:37All right.
00:45:40Hello, my love.
00:45:45Hey.
00:45:46How was it?
00:45:47Fun.
00:45:48If you need water...
00:45:50No.
00:45:51That whole container there is all water.
00:45:56Good.
00:45:57Oh, wow.
00:45:58Oh, wow.
00:45:59The one outside.
00:46:00Oh, that big boy?
00:46:01Yeah.
00:46:02Hell yeah.
00:46:04What did you see out there, too?
00:46:05Bird nests.
00:46:06Nice.
00:46:07Checked all the nests.
00:46:09No eggs, though.
00:46:10All that jazz.
00:46:11Can you get some water?
00:46:13I'm good, thanks.
00:46:15You all got teal?
00:46:16Yeah.
00:46:17Want some water?
00:46:18No.
00:46:19I don't know.
00:46:20Something is wrong with her, and I don't think it's a small thing.
00:46:22She's like mentally taking a cliff dive and doesn't want to be around anyone for any reason whatsoever.
00:46:37We are all really, really, really, really, really concerned about Teal's welfare, and I think it's really important to have a bit of a group chat about the dynamic and about how things were going and basically address our concerns.
00:46:54She won't accept water.
00:46:55Very often, when she got back, wouldn't take the water.
00:46:58So she hasn't drunk water all day?
00:46:59Nope.
00:47:00Jesus.
00:47:01She drank a little bit this morning, and that's it.
00:47:03Teal's been on an emotional rollercoaster, but you've got to keep drinking water.
00:47:07If you do anything different to that, you're going to be out of here with quick sticks.
00:47:11It's absolutely concerning to me that she's just pulling herself back from everyone a little bit, you know, concerned she's not drinking enough.
00:47:18We offer her, you know, water.
00:47:20She has like a sip a day, and that's not even close enough to what you need out here.
00:47:24Yeah, I don't understand what's going on.
00:47:25If she was just being pissy for 24 hours, that's one thing.
00:47:29But this has gone on for like three days now.
00:47:31It's like a mental health decline.
00:47:34We're watching what we say around walking on eggshells.
00:47:37100%.
00:47:38Which is unfair.
00:47:39Clouds, every movement, everything I say, you know.
00:47:43I'm seeing her go down, and it's very strange.
00:47:46She's very dull in her responses.
00:47:48She just is very harsh in her criticisms.
00:47:52She's treading water out here, and it's dangerous.
00:47:55This is a dangerous place to be stuck in your own head.
00:47:58Somebody needs to have a conversation because we can't do it seven on one.
00:48:03That's not fair.
00:48:04Yeah, I'm happy to talk to her.
00:48:05Okay.
00:48:06I don't know how it's going to land, but I'm happy to.
00:48:08Okay.
00:48:09Cool.
00:48:10I don't want her to go any deeper than this, you know.
00:48:11No more decline.
00:48:12Laura, I don't think she's going to make it to the end.
00:48:14Yep, agreed.
00:48:15Yep, agreed.
00:48:16Yeah.
00:48:17Are you good?
00:48:18Yeah, I'm fine.
00:48:19Till's had a difficult time since the merge, so I'm going to have a chat with her one-on-one.
00:48:25I am concerned for where she might be mentally.
00:48:26Everyone's worried about you.
00:48:27Yeah.
00:48:28Yeah.
00:48:29I'm just tired of...
00:48:30Tired of everyone?
00:48:31Tired of just...
00:48:32My social battery is empty.
00:48:33Yeah, I get that.
00:48:34But it's, for me, it's, like, just watching the last couple of days, like, not drinking
00:48:35a lot of water and s***.
00:48:36Like, that's what I'm worried about.
00:48:37I get the social battery.
00:48:38I'm drinking water.
00:48:39I'm drinking water.
00:48:40Drinking enough?
00:48:41Yeah.
00:48:42So what I'm actually worried about, as well, is...
00:48:44Sure.
00:48:45People are thinking about it.
00:48:46I am concerned for where she might be mentally.
00:48:47Everyone's worried about you.
00:48:48Yeah.
00:48:49I'm just tired of...
00:48:50Tired of everyone?
00:48:51Tired of just...
00:48:52Tired of just...
00:48:53Tired of just...
00:48:54My social battery is empty.
00:48:55Yeah, I get that.
00:48:56But it's, for me, it's, um...
00:48:58Like, just watching the last couple of days, like, not drinking a lot of water and s***.
00:49:00Like, that's what I'm worried about.
00:49:01I get the social battery.
00:49:02I'm drinking water.
00:49:03Drinking enough?
00:49:04Yeah.
00:49:05So what I'm actually worried about, as well, is...
00:49:08Sure.
00:49:09I'm just sort of feeling like...
00:49:11They're walking on...
00:49:12Having a walk on eggshells around.
00:49:13On eggshells?
00:49:14You know, like...
00:49:15How about what?
00:49:16One word answers and a bit snippy and whatever.
00:49:19Oh.
00:49:20Like, it's difficult to be around you sort of thing.
00:49:22Oh.
00:49:23I just wanna...
00:49:24It's like...
00:49:25So, like, saying I'm good when people ask, that's not okay?
00:49:28I gotta, like, tell them something?
00:49:30No, but...
00:49:31Like, everyone just wants you to be part of the...
00:49:33And I get it totally, you know?
00:49:34I know.
00:49:35I didn't realise people were thinking I was being snippy.
00:49:38I apologise.
00:49:39I'll make a point to make sure people know that.
00:49:42Okay.
00:49:43I'll be honest.
00:49:45I'm exhausted.
00:49:46I'm physically exhausted.
00:49:48I don't have many pounds left on my body to give.
00:49:51Everybody's coping mechanisms are different.
00:49:53And these last few days have been absolutely exhausting.
00:49:57Escaping from here and getting back to civilization just sounds like such a dream.
00:50:02For those of you that are worried, my social distancing has nothing to do with anybody.
00:50:07And nobody has to be walking on eggshells.
00:50:10And my one-word answers are just mostly because I'm tired of talking.
00:50:15I'm honestly just exhausted.
00:50:17If it's offended anybody, my apologies.
00:50:20But that's all it is.
00:50:21And it has nothing to do with anybody else.
00:50:24And I'm sorry that people are offended by it.
00:50:27And I'm sorry that it's bothering people.
00:50:30Don't let it make you feel uncomfortable.
00:50:32I don't think we're uncomfortable too.
00:50:33I think we were just worried about you.
00:50:35There's nothing to be worried about.
00:50:36I'm drinking.
00:50:37I know.
00:50:38I'm still here boiling water and doing stuff and collecting firewood.
00:50:42I understand.
00:50:43I understand.
00:50:44I'm just telling you how we were feeling.
00:50:46It's just your distance.
00:50:47We were just worried about you because we do care about you.
00:50:51And you are an integral part of this team.
00:50:53And we love you.
00:50:54And we care about you.
00:50:56It's all.
00:50:57I'm just exhausted.
00:50:59We're not mad.
00:51:00We're not upset.
00:51:01We were just worried.
00:51:02It's all.
00:51:03That's the whole thing.
00:51:04No, I'm fine.
00:51:05OK.
00:51:06And I'd like to hear your part.
00:51:07No, that's all.
00:51:08That's it.
00:51:09No, there's no problem.
00:51:10Yeah.
00:51:11It takes a lot of courage to do that.
00:51:12But we'll let you do you and...
00:51:15OK.
00:51:16Thanks, too.
00:51:17Thank you, sweetheart.
00:51:18Yeah.
00:51:20At this point in this challenge, your mental stability and strength is the most important.
00:51:26Without it, you don't survive.
00:51:31We got some cloud cover today.
00:51:49That's not good.
00:51:50It's definitely not the perfect situation.
00:51:54Escaping this Armageddon is going to take calories.
00:52:00But since the fish were spoiled, the hunting is still really hard.
00:52:03Here are these cool days.
00:52:05It's not good for hunting.
00:52:07No.
00:52:08You know, the animals aren't dying of heat stroke like us.
00:52:12There's lots of moisture on the vegetation.
00:52:14Yep.
00:52:15You want to look at the net.
00:52:17We'll start fixing it.
00:52:18Fixing it.
00:52:19Put out straight again, see where all the holes are.
00:52:21Bring some wire over.
00:52:22Clip the wires overlap and go.
00:52:24I like it.
00:52:25Yeah.
00:52:26100%.
00:52:27We haven't had any luck so far with hunting, and so fishing may be really our only choice
00:52:32going forward.
00:52:33So what we're going to do now, we're going to fix the fishing nets.
00:52:36So we're going to nip it with a little patch and wire it on.
00:52:39We just do a clean cut here and like a clean cut there and just join them together.
00:52:43Bring them together.
00:52:44Yeah.
00:52:45Yeah.
00:52:46Because all this, this is good.
00:52:47This is all prime time.
00:52:48Yeah, this section down here is looking pretty good, too.
00:52:50They're each 10 meters, so I got 20 meters of good.
00:52:53Yeah.
00:52:5460 feet.
00:52:55Yeah.
00:52:56There's a real bad section in the middle of the net, and we decided to eliminate that completely.
00:53:02We have to basically patch it, cut old pieces off, bring them over, patch where the rip is.
00:53:08Just do a continuous cycle of patching where the bad spots are.
00:53:12So it's a time-consuming event.
00:53:14Damn.
00:53:15It's got loads of good wire.
00:53:17We can use the patch here.
00:53:19Yeah, save that if we can.
00:53:20Yeah.
00:53:21It's just unravelling this .
00:53:23We've stripped all the flexible wire off this chicken net.
00:53:26It looks like it's been repaired before.
00:53:27There was a lot of this metal wire on there, and we're just using it to sew our good bits
00:53:33of chicken wire together.
00:53:34It's like man sewing.
00:53:35I don't want man sewing.
00:53:36Yeah.
00:53:37These are the two of the best male wire sewers in the world.
00:53:41Damn right.
00:53:42There's no holes in that one.
00:53:49It's looking neat.
00:53:51It is, isn't it?
00:53:52Yeah.
00:53:53No holes anywhere.
00:53:55Double strength in the middle where they're hitting.
00:53:58Yeah.
00:53:59Super strong.
00:54:00Double mesh.
00:54:01Look at all these fish in here right now.
00:54:02Yeah.
00:54:03Look at all that.
00:54:04Get my belly.
00:54:05All hands on deck.
00:54:06You need to lock it up, get some legit protein on the table.
00:54:12One more good win would give the whole group a nice little boost.
00:54:17Especially Teal.
00:54:18She's just struggling and weak.
00:54:20Are we doing the same thing we did the first time?
00:54:22A little bit less panic this time, I hope.
00:54:24Yeah, we don't have people jumping around inside.
00:54:26No, we don't need people jumping around inside.
00:54:28Yeah.
00:54:29The first day we were fishing with it, it was just crazy and everyone got excited.
00:54:33It was a little bit of chaos, so we're hoping to get more controlled so that we can finish this successfully.
00:54:38We're going to take our time, and then we should hold the integrity of the net.
00:54:42Slow and methodical.
00:54:43We have to get food, because if we don't, it's going to be almost impossible to make it to the end.
00:54:48If we don't get food, we might be screwed.
00:54:53Slow.
00:54:55A light drag on the bottom.
00:54:57We're going to kind of bring in, like, horseshoe.
00:55:00This fishing technique that I want to do, basically just set it down deeper in the mud later.
00:55:05That way we can encompass a larger area, come together faster, and hopefully not lose so many fish.
00:55:11Hopefully it's not too short now.
00:55:13All right.
00:55:14Are we all on the ground now?
00:55:16Yeah, I'm on the ground.
00:55:17Everyone's just going to slowly push it forwards.
00:55:20Just push it.
00:55:21Nice and steady while I didn't see him.
00:55:23Okay.
00:55:24There we go.
00:55:25Hey, I'm going to get up here and pull this, okay?
00:55:26There you go.
00:55:27Okay.
00:55:28Move it up a little bit.
00:55:29Shuffle.
00:55:30Just like six inches at a time.
00:55:32Nice and steady.
00:55:33Oh, there they are.
00:55:34There we go.
00:55:35Nope, nope, nope.
00:55:36Don't even.
00:55:37We're not even going to grab nothing yet.
00:55:38There's way too much space.
00:55:39We just need to keep them contained.
00:55:40Hold them on.
00:55:41They're going to start testing this bit right here.
00:55:42Oh, .
00:55:43Oh, .
00:55:44Oh, .
00:55:45I'm just hoping that this poultry wire holds up.
00:55:48RIP.
00:55:49Yeah.
00:55:50Oh.
00:55:51Okay.
00:55:52I feel like it's ripping a bit there.
00:55:53I've got big holds over here, by the way.
00:55:54Oh.
00:55:55It's starting to rip.
00:55:56Come on, girls.
00:55:57You want me to get that net bucket and get in there for screwing these out?
00:56:00Yeah.
00:56:01Get the net, dude.
00:56:02Yeah.
00:56:03Let's see.
00:56:04I like the net bucket idea.
00:56:05Let's try it.
00:56:06It's right there, man.
00:56:07I'll just grab it.
00:56:08There we go.
00:56:09You're not going.
00:56:10I don't know.
00:56:11Let's keep everything down.
00:56:12It's calm and cool.
00:56:13Keep it down.
00:56:14This poultry net is falling apart.
00:56:17It's coming down to the wire here.
00:56:19Look at that.
00:56:20Get it, Frank.
00:56:21Yep.
00:56:22Hey.
00:56:23There you go.
00:56:24Beautiful.
00:56:25There's your new home.
00:56:26Nice.
00:56:27Yeah.
00:56:28Oh, no.
00:56:29He's coming out.
00:56:31Get the net.
00:56:36Yeah.
00:56:37I like the net bucket idea.
00:56:38There you go.
00:56:39Beautiful.
00:56:40There's your new home.
00:56:41Beautiful.
00:56:42Nice.
00:56:43There you go.
00:56:44There's one.
00:56:45Happy days.
00:56:46No more.
00:56:47We fixed the net.
00:56:48We took out the big holes.
00:56:49And this is actually working.
00:56:50Hey.
00:56:51Hey.
00:56:52That's a good sauce.
00:56:53This MacGyver ability that we have using man-made materials and how they can be better utilized.
00:56:54Those catfish never knew would hit them.
00:56:56This is the way.
00:56:57I love you guys.
00:56:58We did this.
00:56:59This has got this down to a science.
00:57:00Not as dramatic, but this is definitely getting greater yield here.
00:57:01Yeah.
00:57:02Yeah.
00:57:03I love you guys.
00:57:04Yeah.
00:57:05Poor took a chance, bud.
00:57:06Good job, man.
00:57:07Good job, man.
00:57:08Good job.
00:57:09Hit that corner.
00:57:10They love that corner.
00:57:11They love that corner.
00:57:12It's awesome.
00:57:13I'm watching Teal participate.
00:57:14She's eager to do it.
00:57:15Quick to jump in.
00:57:16It's a really good sauce.
00:57:17It's a good sauce.
00:57:18This MacGyver ability that we have using man-made materials and how they can be better utilized.
00:57:20Those catfish never knew it would hit them.
00:57:21This is the way.
00:57:22I love you guys.
00:57:23We did this.
00:57:24This has got this down to a science.
00:57:25Not as dramatic, but this is definitely getting greater yield here.
00:57:30Yeah.
00:57:31Poor took a chance, bud.
00:57:32Good job, man.
00:57:33Hit that corner.
00:57:34They love that corner.
00:57:35It's awesome.
00:57:36I'm watching Teal participate.
00:57:39She's eager to do it.
00:57:41Quick to jump in.
00:57:42Ben, it's a really positive team effort.
00:57:46There he is.
00:57:47Yeah.
00:57:48Twofer.
00:57:49Let's see.
00:57:50How many do we have over there?
00:57:51Beautiful.
00:57:52Six, seven.
00:57:53Can you already believe that we're all going to be eating an entire fish?
00:57:59It's beautiful.
00:58:00It's beautiful.
00:58:01This challenge has been difficult in everybody's tribe.
00:58:04Everybody had difficulty getting food, surviving the weather, the environment, the animals.
00:58:09And it really took us all coming together to this location to problem solve, as a team,
00:58:14as a family, to overcome these challenges.
00:58:16These fat fishy hugs.
00:58:19That's what making a parade is all about.
00:58:22Just chunk them on the grill.
00:58:24We're not going to be smoking fish again.
00:58:27Looks like we're going to eat pretty good tonight.
00:58:32It's a good feeling.
00:58:34All right, guys.
00:58:35Cheers.
00:58:36Cheers.
00:58:37Cheers.
00:58:38Cheers.
00:58:39Cooked a profession, Frank.
00:58:41Mmm.
00:58:42That is so good.
00:58:44We all got a big, fat fish feast.
00:58:48Now I'm, like, full of energy, and I want to get out of here and escape as soon as possible.
00:58:53It is a hot one today.
00:59:07Is there any water left?
00:59:09I'm going to find you it's so horrid today.
00:59:11It's less than 24 hours before, you know, we're all on foot making our escape from this place.
00:59:17Tomorrow, we're all walking into something together that we have no clue what it is.
00:59:22This is an escape.
00:59:23It's not an extraction.
00:59:24And we don't know what that looks like.
00:59:26So it's just going to have to be where I have to be as prepared as possible.
00:59:30The upcoming escape is very much unknown.
00:59:33And so we really need to be drinking as much water as possible.
00:59:36Making a filtration system is actually really, really important.
00:59:40So I'm just collecting some straws for the top layer.
00:59:45The second part of this is some coals.
00:59:48Okay.
00:59:49Fire.
00:59:50And I'm just going to get crushed into a powder.
00:59:54I want most of the pieces to be really dusty.
00:59:57The most important part of this whole thing is that thick layer of charcoal.
01:00:01I'm going to use this piece of polyester at the bottom for the cotton.
01:00:06I'm going to make a bunch of holes in this.
01:00:09The metal container that I'm using as a filter, I found at the mechanic's house on day one.
01:00:14And I've been looking forward to using it this whole time.
01:00:20Okay.
01:00:21So that's like a nice thick layer.
01:00:22Just kind of make sure it's set in there.
01:00:25Just sprinkle it on.
01:00:27Yeah.
01:00:28Evenly again, just so it...
01:00:30I don't think it's going to be good.
01:00:32Okay.
01:00:33We got our big old filter.
01:00:34That'll work.
01:00:35The stones take out large particulates.
01:00:38Then you get into sand, which does the last bit of true filtration.
01:00:42The charcoal neutralizes, absorbs chemicals, absorbs oils, and then out the bottom you go.
01:00:48Oh, wow.
01:00:50Love it.
01:00:51I'm feeling a little bit better.
01:00:53Trying to truly find a way to rise above all this disaster and finish the challenge strong.
01:01:02See how cool is this?
01:01:03Teal taught me how to do a filtration system for the water.
01:01:07Teal brings with her a wealth of knowledge.
01:01:10So still completing the apprenticeship of my life.
01:01:14How good is it?
01:01:15It's awesome, isn't it?
01:01:16Mm-hmm.
01:01:17So much better.
01:01:18I know.
01:01:19So happy about it.
01:01:22A little more?
01:01:23Yes, I always should.
01:01:24I should never say no.
01:01:25That's our rule.
01:01:28This has been a long journey.
01:01:30It's been a good one, but it's been hard.
01:01:32So I'm making some just-in-case shoes for when we escape out of here.
01:01:37The ultimate goal for me is surviving South Africa.
01:01:41And so there's zero chance of me not finishing this challenge.
01:01:46I'm going ahead and making a little pack of some essentials, fire starter, some wires, cordage.
01:01:54You know, this being a brand new challenge with this escape route,
01:01:58it's never been done in the history of Naked and Afraid.
01:02:01So I don't know what to expect.
01:02:03And that's scary.
01:02:04You're not out of a survival situation until you're out of the survival situation.
01:02:08All right, now I got a safe pack.
01:02:09It's watertight, miscellaneous wires, whatever we need.
01:02:13If an emergency happens to pop up on our escape out of here, I'm going to have it right in here.
01:02:19We're getting out of here.
01:02:21It's time to escape.
01:02:23Yeah.
01:02:24Yeah.
01:02:25You hear that?
01:02:26What is it?
01:02:38It's like something's walking the way.
01:02:39What is it?
01:02:41It's like something's off in the water.
01:02:43Yes, it's on.
01:02:51Oh, my God.
01:02:55That's a thought.
01:02:56They're right there.
01:03:02Oh, my God.
01:03:06Do you want to go take a piss?
01:03:08Definitely.
01:03:09No.
01:03:11Holy ****.
01:03:14That's going to be a long one.
01:03:30That was so wild.
01:03:32That was scary.
01:03:33Last night in the Rage Cage, there were several different directions we heard those hippos coming from.
01:03:38It's time to go, and all of us are eager to escape.
01:03:42All right, guys, putting out the fires, then hit the road.
01:03:46Woo-hoo!
01:03:46We need to make sure that we bring our knives, our bows.
01:03:50I'll cut here a pot of water.
01:03:52We're definitely taking four water pots.
01:03:54You never know what's going to happen in the bush.
01:03:56So we're going to take everything that we can that's going to be necessary to escape this hell on earth.
01:04:01Oh, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe.
01:04:04The world of beast has to stay.
01:04:05I'm sorry, buddy.
01:04:07He's reached the end of his road.
01:04:08It's kind of sad.
01:04:09You know, I birthed that thing.
01:04:11It was one of my first MacGyvering, and I've improved it along the way.
01:04:14And I would have liked to have carried it to the end, but, you know, it's just not practical.
01:04:18All right, everyone almost ready?
01:04:19Yeah.
01:04:20I just want to get everyone's mind in the right mindset before we go.
01:04:24There's no one coming for us.
01:04:25We need to find a way to make it back to civilization.
01:04:28With no extraction vehicles awaiting them, the survivalists must make their escape on foot
01:04:34by trekking over eight miles deep into the thick brush of hill country
01:04:38to a mountain range on the northern edge of the wasteland.
01:04:41If they can reach the ridgeline, their escape route will lead to a game ranch,
01:04:45the closest inhabited outpost where a welcome celebration is being planned.
01:04:51This is a long way, guys.
01:04:53You all need your heads on a swivel.
01:04:54We've still got lions, elephants, all that stuff out here.
01:04:57There's not a cloud in the sky today, so it's going to be a cooker.
01:04:59With triple-digit temperatures and a total elevation gain of over 1,000 feet,
01:05:04the rocky terrain is covered with sharp acacia thorns and teeming with fire ants.
01:05:09Lions lurk in the bush as leopards preld from the trees and rocks above.
01:05:14The area is also home to the deadly Gaboon Viper,
01:05:18whose two-inch fangs release the highest amount of venom of any snake in the world.
01:05:23This is not going to be easy.
01:05:25We're going to have to push.
01:05:25It's going to be hard.
01:05:26Just watch for people dropping off.
01:05:28Watch for people if they look like they're not drinking enough,
01:05:30sweating too much, heat stroke, that sort of stuff.
01:05:32All right, we've got to do this as a team.
01:05:34We've got to do this as a family to get out of here.
01:05:36100%.
01:05:36It's going to be hard, but we're going to make it work.
01:05:38Well, it hasn't been hard out here.
01:05:39Yeah, exactly.
01:05:40One last push.
01:05:41That's all we've got to do.
01:05:42Slow, steady, stick together.
01:05:43All right.
01:05:43All right.
01:05:44That's it.
01:05:44Woo!
01:05:45Woo!
01:05:45One, two, three.
01:05:46Yes!
01:05:48I'm getting out of here.
01:05:49See you, Rage Cage.
01:05:50Peace out, home.
01:05:51Laters.
01:05:52Let's roll.
01:05:54I'm so ready to escape this place.
01:05:57It's been one of the hardest challenges I've ever come across.
01:06:00I know this escape is going to be one of the hardest things I've ever done as well.
01:06:03So long.
01:06:06My muscles just being atrophied and being worn out.
01:06:09My body is tired, so it's going to take everything I've got.
01:06:14It's starting to get hot.
01:06:15Yeah.
01:06:16It's definitely Africa.
01:06:18Heat came out.
01:06:20We've still been running on zero fuel.
01:06:24We've had full bellies and catfish, but that's just protein.
01:06:27Energy for the body is carbs and fats, and we've had none of those.
01:06:29I hate to say it, but there is still a risk that we could lose someone on the hike out.
01:06:40How are you holding up, Wes?
01:06:42I'm doing good, buddy.
01:06:43You doing all right?
01:06:44Yes, sir.
01:06:44Good.
01:06:45This sun is out, and it is cooking us.
01:06:48We have Waz in the front setting the pace, and I'm in the back making sure nobody gets hurt.
01:06:52Good.
01:06:58Careful.
01:06:59That thorn's really angry.
01:07:00Eyeball level.
01:07:01All right.
01:07:02Thanks, Jill.
01:07:03Acacia.
01:07:08Wow, that was a good one.
01:07:10Just a whole forest of the devil's Legos.
01:07:13Oh, Jesus.
01:07:14Pretty rough terrain.
01:07:15This thick bush.
01:07:17Thorny.
01:07:18Probably full of ticks.
01:07:20Lots of thorns up here, guys.
01:07:21Watch this step.
01:07:23It's going to be small and tight, but we're going to do it.
01:07:27Oh, for sake.
01:07:30Oh, please.
01:07:31Put your eyes, Joe.
01:07:34Doing all right?
01:07:35All good, man.
01:07:36All good.
01:07:36All right.
01:07:37All the trees are smacking in us, stabbing us with thorns.
01:07:40Your body can endure so much pain and suffering.
01:07:43You just need to convince your mind, and I've convinced my mind every day.
01:07:47Doing well, team.
01:07:48Come on.
01:07:49We've just got to keep pushing.
01:07:50We've got to keep pushing.
01:07:55Elephants have definitely been here.
01:07:57Oh, you knocked that whole thing over.
01:08:00The trail's thick.
01:08:01You can't see very far.
01:08:03There's no telling what's in this landscape.
01:08:06More worried about the elephants than anything, because they call them the gray ghost.
01:08:09Because when you're looking like this, you don't see them until you literally look up, and their backs break the skyline.
01:08:16The sun's high.
01:08:26Yeah, it is.
01:08:27Quick steps through here, because this is the big ant colony.
01:08:30They will bite.
01:08:32Thorns and ants, guys.
01:08:34Oh.
01:08:34Damn, they're fast.
01:08:37Ah.
01:08:38Oh, my God.
01:08:39These are angry little f***s, aren't they?
01:08:41Oh, f***ing Jesus.
01:08:43Yeah, they bite.
01:08:44They bite the f*** out of you, Steven?
01:08:46Yep.
01:08:46Oh, f***.
01:08:48They pick a punch with such a little thing.
01:08:51Holy guacamole.
01:08:52Ow!
01:08:54I don't think I've ever done something this hard.
01:08:57I've definitely never made it this far on so little.
01:09:02Still part of the hero's journey?
01:09:04That's right.
01:09:08That sun is kicking.
01:09:10My mouth's got a puppet's line on.
01:09:12I'm almost out of water in this front one here.
01:09:14We're looking at the back.
01:09:15I've got more than half.
01:09:17Okay.
01:09:18Okay.
01:09:19We've been a good few hours now into this escape.
01:09:21We're just putting one step in front of the other.
01:09:24And we're going to get out as a team.
01:09:26We're just running a bit out of water.
01:09:28So that's the problem.
01:09:30Hey, guys.
01:09:30I want to get to the top of the hill up here.
01:09:33I'm pretty confident we're going to be able to see the civilization from up here at this
01:09:36highest point.
01:09:37It was.
01:09:37Let us catch up just a little bit.
01:09:39Need a break?
01:09:40We need to stop?
01:09:40Yeah.
01:09:42Everybody get a drink if you need it.
01:09:43No rush on that.
01:09:45Holy f***.
01:09:46The heat and the dehydration.
01:09:49All of these things are f***ing my vibe.
01:09:51And we haven't even got to the mountain yet.
01:09:52That's the finish line right there, boys and girls.
01:09:54You can see it.
01:09:55We've done 35 days of pretty hard stuff.
01:09:57And all we've got to do is this.
01:09:58That's it.
01:09:59Let's go.
01:09:59You good, Wes?
01:10:00Yeah, we're good.
01:10:01All right, guys.
01:10:01Let's go.
01:10:02Let's push this.
01:10:03One last push.
01:10:04We've got to get out of this wasteland.
01:10:07Jesus.
01:10:08You good, too?
01:10:08Yeah.
01:10:09Oh, man.
01:10:13The terrain's getting away more rocky.
01:10:15Watch your anchors on this stuff, man.
01:10:17This is rolling, breaking anchors.
01:10:19It feels real sneaky here.
01:10:22Yeah.
01:10:23They're here, that's for sure.
01:10:25Thanks for pointing that out.
01:10:26Oh, my God.
01:10:34There's so many more thorns here.
01:10:37Oh, yay, yay.
01:10:39Yeah, this is ridiculous.
01:10:41Elevation definitely doesn't help.
01:10:43Oh, God.
01:10:44Hanging in there, Wes?
01:10:46Ah, legs are burning.
01:10:48And for someone to succeed in Naked and Afraid, you have to have mental fortitude, and you
01:10:54have to have a desire to finish.
01:10:57But make no mistake, it is brutal.
01:11:01I'll never give up, but I don't know how much more I can take.
01:11:05That's walking and getting that easier.
01:11:07Oh, gosh.
01:11:10I mean, I don't know how much more.
01:11:12I mean, this challenge has been the most unbearable thing I've ever done in my life.
01:11:17But I've got too much in state.
01:11:20I'm almost done.
01:11:21I can taste it.
01:11:23I can feel it.
01:11:24We are ready to get the hell out of here.
01:11:28Hey, guys.
01:11:28I'm out of water in this first can here.
01:11:31Do we have much left?
01:11:32I'm out.
01:11:33I've got just about a swallow left.
01:11:35All right.
01:11:36Jesus Christ.
01:11:37That sucks.
01:11:38This escape hike is one of the hardest things that I've done.
01:11:42There's so much uphill.
01:11:44Every time I look up, there's just more and more hill in front.
01:11:47We're running out of water.
01:11:49I don't know if we're all going to make it.
01:11:52This is killing me.
01:11:54Oh, God.
01:11:55I can't.
01:11:57Oh, God.
01:12:05The sun is kicking.
01:12:08Oh, I don't know if I can make it.
01:12:11Oh, you guys are so...
01:12:13Let's keep pushing.
01:12:15Keep pushing.
01:12:15One foot in front of the other, guys.
01:12:16Keep pushing.
01:12:17Okay.
01:12:18We got this.
01:12:19Oh, yeah.
01:12:20Strong work, team.
01:12:21No long left.
01:12:23We're up on the crest of the hill, so I'm not sure what more we got in store, but my mouth
01:12:27is dry.
01:12:28I'm out of water.
01:12:29I feel like I can't take any more steps.
01:12:35Just keep pushing.
01:12:36Keep pushing, too.
01:12:38Did you say anything was?
01:12:40Looks like we got a clearing up here, guys.
01:12:42No way.
01:12:42Really?
01:12:43We got an opening?
01:12:44Oh, God.
01:12:45I hope so.
01:12:47Guys, there's something down here.
01:12:48There is something down here.
01:12:50That's not nature.
01:12:51Guys, look at this.
01:12:52What the...
01:12:53I hear music.
01:12:55I can say...
01:12:56Holy crap.
01:12:57Oh, my God.
01:12:59Hey, look at this.
01:13:01It's a queen, it's a feel of cry.
01:13:04What is this?
01:13:06Oh, my God.
01:13:08Hello?
01:13:08Oh, my God.
01:13:14You know, I've completed a lot of challenges.
01:13:16Usually it's an airplane or a helicopter or, you know, a truck, but there's traditional
01:13:21African song and dance.
01:13:23That's awesome.
01:13:25I've done no music for 15 days.
01:13:27And I see a barbecue going on.
01:13:28I smell food.
01:13:30Yeah!
01:13:32Woo!
01:13:33Now, that is a welcome sight.
01:13:35To see friendly faces and hear laughter and music is overwhelming for the senses, and I
01:13:43don't really know what to make of it.
01:13:46Did we die?
01:13:47We've died and gone to heaven.
01:13:48After surviving the apocalypse, coming back into civilization, it was more confusing than
01:13:54anything.
01:13:54It's a crazy feeling.
01:13:55I don't even know what to do.
01:13:58Give me some food.
01:13:59Can I have some of that?
01:13:59Yeah.
01:14:00Humanity still exists.
01:14:03We're done.
01:14:03We've escaped this hellhole of a bush.
01:14:05Oh my God, fat.
01:14:07Nice.
01:14:08That's the first fat I've seen in 35 days.
01:14:11Look at that drip.
01:14:13You know, I come out here to test my skills for a doomsday situation, and, you know, I
01:14:18nailed it.
01:14:19I did my best to provide food for the team.
01:14:22You know, people like us, we just kind of do what we do, and we're not hoping for a doomsday
01:14:27situation, but we're always ready for one.
01:14:29I normally have more manners than this.
01:14:31I apologize now.
01:14:33Give me some of this fruit.
01:14:34Oh, shit.
01:14:35Oh, fruit.
01:14:36We went from hell all the way to paradise, and it feels good.
01:14:40Oh, good, man.
01:14:41I feel proud and privileged.
01:14:43Everyone had that grit to make it to the end of an arduous 35 days crazy challenge.
01:14:48Now that I'm confident, I feel happy to survive the apocalypse.
01:14:51You're going to feel like I've got bragging rights here.
01:14:55All right.
01:14:56It's been an absolute pleasure, mate.
01:14:57Good job.
01:14:58Way to be a great team member.
01:15:00Well done, brother.
01:15:01You want to take care of me from the start?
01:15:02We did.
01:15:03I came here to do battle with South Africa and come out successful, and it's my first
01:15:09Africa completion in the harshest apocalyptic environment you could ever think up, and so
01:15:15I'm super proud.
01:15:17Oh, my God.
01:15:18I don't even know what to say at this point, because I feel like I entered as one person
01:15:23and emerged as something completely different.
01:15:26I think coming into this challenge, I was more a survivor than a survivalist, and now
01:15:33I realized that if I survived Africa for 35 days, I can survive anything.
01:15:39Come on.
01:15:40You made it.
01:15:41I'm happy.
01:15:41Oh, God.
01:15:42You're gross.
01:15:44Quite a good moment.
01:15:45Woo!
01:15:46I'm really proud of Teal, proud of how far she pushed herself through a lot of adversity,
01:15:51too.
01:15:52She did it her way.
01:15:53She dug deep when she had to dig deep, and she made it.
01:15:55It was a beautiful thing to watch.
01:15:57Hey, team Thunderbone.
01:15:58We made it.
01:15:59We're making it in the end.
01:16:01I love you guys.
01:16:02My original team, Lex and Frank, have impressed me so much, and I don't think we would have
01:16:08got through it if we wouldn't have been together.
01:16:10Yeah.
01:16:10Cheers up.
01:16:11Meet up.
01:16:12Meet up.
01:16:12Woo!
01:16:12We problem solved as a team, and watching them succeed is amazing, and I absolutely feel
01:16:20blessed.
01:16:20I did 17 days alone, trying to endure the hell that's been this apocalypse.
01:16:33I suffered as an individual, and I thrived as a member of a group, and I think that's
01:16:38the biggest lesson that I can come out of in survival here.
01:16:41With a group like this, this group is undefeatable.
01:16:45There we go.
01:16:46There we go.
01:16:46Many people believe, going into the apocalypse, that they'll just self-confine and board yourself
01:16:53in your house, but I did learn that's really not thriving.
01:16:57What we were able to accomplish together was far superior to anything that I ever imagined,
01:17:02and I'm grateful for that.
01:17:04We had to adapt our survival skills on an ongoing basis.
01:17:08They had to be fluid.
01:17:09They had to be dynamic.
01:17:10Everything's going to change around you, and you have to be able to change and adapt with
01:17:13it.
01:17:13If you don't, you're not going to make it.
01:17:15I'm glad that after this, I'm definitely more prepared for a situation like that, and
01:17:19I pray that it never happens.
01:17:21But if it does happen, the king will definitely get through it.
01:17:24Way to go, team!
01:17:25Take it to the prize!
01:17:26Yeah!
01:17:30Come on!
01:17:30Woo!
01:17:34Rip shower.
01:17:35Pick up my feet.
01:17:37I bet you're going to always bring one of these.
01:17:39Every day, I'm just grateful I'm back from that African hellhole.
01:17:43This is what I love to do, and...
01:17:45Oh!
01:17:46How'd you see that?
01:17:47This is me.
01:17:49I'm frying up some liver with onions!
01:17:51Yum-o!
01:17:56Welcome to Africa.
01:17:57After battling the barren wasteland for 35 days...
01:18:01There we go!
01:18:02...the survivalist bodies paid a serious toll.
01:18:07Ha-ha-ha-ha!
01:18:09I'm a potty moth.
01:18:10...spending half the challenge alone.
01:18:12I'm going to roast it, and I'm going to eat it.
01:18:18Joe's extra workload and limited calories led to a loss of 62 pounds.
01:18:23Good gosh.
01:18:26Easy eating all our dinner.
01:18:28This place doesn't want us to eat.
01:18:30Working at a calorie deficit for most of the 35 days...
01:18:33You know you're hungry when you're picking through some animal's crap to find something to eat.
01:18:40Wes finally finished a challenge in Africa, and in the process, lost 36 pounds.
01:18:46Oh, wow.
01:18:47Entering the challenge as a vegetarian...
01:18:49Family dinner of scorpion shish kebab.
01:18:53...Alexa made the necessary choices to survive...
01:18:56Mmm.
01:18:57That was weird.
01:18:58...and still escaped the challenge with a total loss of 31 pounds.

01:19:12I am so excited to get clean.
01:19:17Wowee!
01:19:2035 days.
01:19:21I haven't seen myself.
01:19:22Oh, look, an ass-loaded train.
01:19:24I'm a little...
01:19:26A little skinny.
01:19:28Very tan.
01:19:3035 days in the hardest challenge I've ever been to.
01:19:34Just got out, got in the room, haven't even showered yet.
01:19:38But I'm feeling really strong.
01:19:40First shower.
01:19:41After Africa.
01:19:43Pick up my feet.
01:19:44I'm back.
01:19:45I'm back.
01:19:46Wow.
01:19:47We can bring one of these.
01:19:49Brillo pad?
01:19:50No Brillo pad.
01:19:51No Brillo pad.
01:19:52No Brillo pad.
01:19:53No Brillo pad.
01:19:53Making our brain tips and tricks.
01:19:56Headed home.
01:19:57Just a quick 22-hour trip.
01:20:00Who's that?
01:20:03Who's that?
01:20:04Hey, girls.
01:20:06Hello.
01:20:07Hello.
01:20:08Who is that?
01:20:10I miss you.
01:20:11I miss you.
01:20:12Well, I did it.
01:20:14It took me five years to get back to South Africa, but I did it.
01:20:18And in the most hellish landscape that you could possibly survive in.
01:20:22And if a real apocalypse comes, you can believe I'll survive that too.
01:20:26I don't know what I expect the apocalypse to teach me, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't.
01:20:31So have a love of red meat.
01:20:32This is me frying up some liver with onions.
01:20:36Yum-o.
01:20:36Oh, my God.
01:20:44This is honestly an absolute life changer for me.
01:20:49When we're out there, it was scorching hot.
01:20:51And now all I have to do is this.
01:20:53I have to just press this one button right here.
01:20:55And I'll say 70.
01:20:57I don't think so.
01:20:58We're on 68.
01:21:00Let's go.
01:21:01There's one thing I miss so much from when we've escaped the apocalypse.
01:21:06And being back to reality is Wrigley Tin.
01:21:10So at my survival school, I've got a new container on site.
01:21:15And I've put a roof on it.
01:21:17Wrigley Tin.
01:21:18I cannot get away from this stuff.
01:21:20They say it helped me a lot when I was on the apocalypse.
01:21:23The king has bought a castle.
01:21:25And not only a castle, the house that I actually grew up in.
01:21:28I have been renovating, remodeling.
01:21:31While doing all this, I've learned that a majority of the tools around your house would work incredibly perfect for an apocalyptic situation.
01:21:41Mini chainsaw.
01:21:46Everybody during the apocalypse should have one of these.
01:21:48I'm just saying.
01:21:49After being in Africa, it's good to be back home seeing stuff like this in your own damn yard.
01:21:56A male canebrake rouser.
01:21:58And a good size.
01:22:01Every day I'm just grateful I'm back from that African hellhole.
01:22:05This is what I love to do.
01:22:06And you see that?
01:22:09He tried me.
01:22:11We'll get him in this cooler here.
01:22:13Get him someplace safe.
01:22:15And that's why it's always important to have a good cooler with you or a bucket.
01:22:20Hey, it's Joe.
01:22:20And I'm back in my normal life.
01:22:22Except my normal life looks a whole lot different now.
01:22:24Because of the challenge.
01:22:25Because of what I faced.
01:22:26And what I came to understand about sustainability and the apocalypse.
01:22:31I quit my government job of 20 years.
01:22:34And now I own a feed store.
01:22:36It's something that's been a part of the community for 40 years.
01:22:39And it was going to shudder.
01:22:41So I threw my hat in and they took my offer.
01:22:44And now that's what I'm going to be doing.
01:22:46I'm going to be providing that service for our community.
01:22:48I'm going to be educating people on some homesteading and just some self-reliance.
01:22:53And that's something that this challenge has really brought for me.
01:22:57Because this world is precious.
01:22:59It's a beautiful place.
01:23:00But at any minute it can change.
01:23:02Going out into the unknown and being met with that barren wasteland was definitely the hardest part about this challenge.
01:23:11I was astonished with my capability when there's really no other choice.
01:23:16And that is what survival is about.
01:23:19You just have to get out alive.
01:23:22End of the world.
01:23:23I got you.
01:23:24End of the world.
