00:00i'm writing my list um and you guys are gonna need a list too in a second here hold on um
00:08let's see i need like two more what is this for so there's some guy released a list of
00:19five 80s movies that you have to see you must see this is so my wheelhouse this is so melissa's
00:29wheelhouse i'm trying to think of 80s i'm i'm not not i'm not i'm not gonna say i'm not 80s movies
00:35guy but um as far as like they're not my wheelhouse like they are with melissa so i have to look up
00:41movies and i'm like was that made in the 80s so wait they're giving you four uh sorry five movies
00:47total the guy yeah the guy's like this this i guess it's his his opinion of okay like it encompasses
00:54the 80s or whatever okay that's what i was gonna ask what he's basing this on so he's just saying
00:59just like everything else we read no no but i know but i mean is he talking is he using the
01:05cast he's talking about the plot is he talking about like you know is it comedy drama like i can
01:10read you what he says yes okay let me give you okay so the first one he says do the right thing
01:17okay okay that would be on my list it's a good one it's a tale of good and evil and then he
01:24describes like what the movie's about and he says there's also a strong ensemble cast
01:28uh the genius of the film is its refusal to offer easy answers instead it captures the complexity of
01:35injustice anger and community in america it's a masterpiece of cinema and social conscience
01:39dating viewers daring viewers to confront uncomfortable truths all these years later
01:44this joint still hits hard my favorite part is just when everybody's going off on other races
01:50like do you remember that scene where it's just clips of everybody insulting other races
01:55oh my god of course you love that it would be so inappropriate in 2025 but back then it was
02:00hilarious um okay another one yeah and i will say since you mentioned that a lot of these don't age
02:07well a lot of these oh yeah well you know it's just yeah yeah but i mean we're doing stuff now that
02:13in like 50 years people are gonna be like you did what how dare you and you won't even know you'll be
02:18like no it's just what we did you know um the shining is another one i thought this movie was
02:24from the 70s 1980 just made the cut before you give me his reasoning i did like the shining i do
02:30think it was a classic but i don't know if i would make that a one of the five 80s movies you have to
02:37see let's hear his explanation okay he said it's the most horrible dream i've ever had
02:42and describes a movie and he gives a shout out because it's um stanley stanley kubrick i can
02:49ever say that guy's name i know stanley kubrick stanley kubrick transforms the overlook into a
02:53character itself and the overlook is the hotel uh into a character itself a confusing dreadful entity
02:59defined defined by endless hallways patterned carpets and impossible architecture rather than relying
03:06on jump scares the director unsettles us through mood ambiguity and psychological
03:11disintegration very true yeah um it makes it it makes it one of the decades crown jewels okay i mean
03:19i don't disagree with anything he said but if you're asking me to give you five i don't think
03:24that would be in my five but good okay um this next movie i haven't even seen amadeus oh yes okay
03:34the uh is it a biography is about the it's the wolfgang mozart amadeus mozart yes correct that wasn't
03:42that song rock me amadeus in that movie um i'm gonna if you say so um remember when i started off
03:49and said i've never heard of this movie yeah you haven't okay yeah i cannot leave alone a soul and
03:56pain amadeus is a lavish exhilarating period drama that turns the life of wolfgang amadeus mozart into a
04:02tale of envy genius and downfall okay rather than being a dry history lesson it becomes a compelling
04:07statement on the destructive power of jealousy it's anchored by f murray abraham's oscar-winning
04:13performance as antonio salieri and tom halsey's exuberant take on mozart i was way off by the way
04:19uh rock me amadeus the song was a completely separate thing um and i have not seen the movie
04:25i've only seen the music video for rock me amadeus so it's totally different i have not seen the movie
04:30nope i'm looking at it going wait a minute this is oh wait no i've never what i thought i've never
04:35had anybody be so confident about something that they never have seen or heard i think i have seen
04:39this because this is what i thought was the music video but no this is the movie was rock me amadeus
04:45in this no i think i'm thinking of chad jupiter i did okay chad jupiti hold on hold on i'm gonna ask
04:52i gave my chad jupiti a nickname my boy chad chad jupiti he's an italian fella oh yeah yeah is the song
04:58rock me amadeus in the movie amadeus no you idiot no falco's song rock me amadeus is not in the movie
05:08amadeus from 1984 okay but rock me amadeus came out in 1985 so not too far off anyways go ahead
05:14okay blade runner never saw it um i feel like this is a movie i should see but i've never seen
05:21all these years drunk on the memory of its perfection blade runner was initially misunderstood
05:25but time has elevated it to classic status uh no four or three that was the fourth one okay no
05:32character complicates uh the movie more than ray roy batty during the climax he delivers one of the
05:40greatest monologues in cinema wow tears and rain cementing the film's philosophical weight on the
05:45aesthetic side the production design remains unparalleled with its dense dystopian cityscapes
05:49influencing sci-fi for decades i'm gonna have to google or youtube that model i love good movie
05:55monologues even in movies that i haven't seen if you can hook me no i i like that's like a a guilty
06:00pleasure is watching a monologue from a movie that i haven't seen because in my head i'm like if
06:04if just this monologue gets me then i love the movie even though i haven't seen it but i can like
06:11in my head kind of like put it i feel like with monologues you have to you have to experience what
06:17surrounds the monologue to just jump into the monologue without context i think takes away from
06:23it there are some solid ones yeah i know i i believe that yeah but i don't think it hits as hard
06:30as when you experience it like you know anyway what's the last one raging bull never saw that
06:36one either you didn't get me down raging bull a brutal and beautiful portrait of self-destruction
06:41widely considered one of martin scorsese's greatest achievements robert de niro's oscar-winning
06:46performance as boxer jake lamotta is a master class in transformation both physical and emotional
06:51it chronicles his rise in the ring and fall in his personal life painting him as both a ferocious
06:56competitor and deeply flawed man consumed by jealousy and rage okay so now that we know this
07:01guys uh can i throw out a couple that i would like to say would be mine i feel like you've been
07:07waiting to do this yeah but i'm not really i haven't put much thought into it so when this video
07:12comes out i'm probably going to say why did i say that but number one has to be rocky that's from
07:18the 70s though so you got to pick oh that's right probably 70s right yeah i think rocky i don't know
07:24about rocky 2 but rocky 3 and 4 were definitely in the 80s those were my favorites so i would say
07:30rocky 3 and 4 together combine them but rocky 2 was 1979 so you're gonna have to yeah that's all
07:36right you could say rocky 3 and 3 or 4 yeah it just doesn't have the same but yeah okay all right
07:43those were my favorites anyways um and we could on a although pebbles would hate us i could say on
07:48another video we can rank the rocky movies from best to worst oh okay i won't be here that day
07:54okay um pretty and pink pretty and pink all right so now i'm gonna go you guys know i love a good
08:02rom-com that's my favorite genre of movie i love a good rom-com pretty and pink is the ultimate movie
08:10of like i want to say like the nice guy finishes last because that's kind of what it was although
08:20some people might not know the original pretty and pink ending was with in case you haven't seen the
08:27movie um it's this girl who's kind of like played by molly ringwald she is kind of like a an odd girl
08:36she hangs out with like not the popular kids they have her family's broke they have no money
08:41and her best friend is this guy ducky played by john crier and ducky is also from the same type of
08:48background he's broke no money and they just have a really good friendship but molly ringwald's
08:54character falls in love with the rich guy blaine played by andrew mccarthy and their relationship
09:01just doesn't work because of the dynamic of the friendships and all that and all of the outside
09:06noise and it's just a good lesson on not listening to the peer pressure of your friends
09:12when it comes to relationships and a lot of people might not know this but in the original movie
09:18the movie we see she ends up with blaine and but the original ending was her ending up with ducky
09:26but it got trashed by test audiences really so john hughes the director changed it around and made it so
09:35she ends up with blaine interesting yeah okay so that would be one for sure um
09:43there's come on how are you like i'm stuck because there's so many classics that i'm like i already got
09:53my list go ahead you guys go i tried to go well do you have your list pebbles no i'm working on it
10:00i'm trying to go different genres um so in the and a couple things you need to have
10:10um like a sylvester stallone you know arnold schwarzenegger something like that those guys
10:16defined the 80s at least for me but i kind of agree with you with the rocky thing yeah like you can't
10:26there's just so much to learn from the rocky movies and every like facet of life yeah so i did
10:31kind of a different it's got the same similar rocky underdog yep story and stuff yep um karate kid
10:42oh karate kid yes good one yep with daniel son it's just a classic movie that even if you haven't seen
10:51it it's like you kind of know it's one of those movies that again even if you haven't seen it you
10:55kind of recognize you hear like mr miyagi you know what that means right you know things like that
11:00sweep the leg right you know things of that nature so that's number one um mercy yeah no mercy another
11:07classic i'll throw this one in the comedy genre um that again it's in one of those movies that
11:14you might not have seen it but you might know some quotes or scenes or you have definitely
11:21100 you recognize the name ferris bueller ferris bueller's day off you know what i'm gonna agree
11:28with you on that one yeah i think you're gonna agree with a couple of these yeah to be honest with
11:32you um because i'm i'm i'm getting mad basic with them like i'm not going deep yeah my my 80s
11:38knowledge isn't like yours i am an expert the only thing i honestly don't have is like uh
11:44like i don't know what you would classify like a pretty in pink type of movie i don't know like
11:49rom-com maybe or like or what do they what do they call that there was like a group of people
11:54oh the brat yeah like a brat like st elmo's fire yeah like i don't have one of those yep so i got
11:59karate kid i got ferris bueller by the way no particular order i'm just shouting movies terminator
12:04oh arnold schwarzenegger terminator 100 not my favorite terminator movie but i was gonna say
12:10because my favorite is terminator one you love terminator two terminator two is oh my god that
12:15movie still stands the test of time it's so spectacular one just because of the it tells
12:20you the whole backstory yes you know that's i really like that and there's it's there's just
12:27when it comes to you know sci-fi and things like that terminator is just a classic movie that
12:36everybody needs to watch at least once pebbles put that on your list going back to in the sci-fi genre
12:45but sci-fi comedy it's a movie that a lot of people when they think about time travel they just assume
12:51this is how it works and it's really from nothing but from this movie back to the future
12:57absolutely tremendous like people still to this day when they if you said to them maybe now some of
13:04the younger kids will reference end game and they'll be like well no if you just you know you know you
13:09come to a certain point and leave at that point nothing will change no back to the future shows you
13:14that you can change things a lot you can be a kid that gets picked on your dad's a nerd all that stuff
13:20go back in time almost have sex with your mom but turn the bully into your bitch because of your
13:29relationship with a weird most likely has child porn on this computer scientist by the way okay i know
13:38you haven't seen the movie pebbles melissa you'll get this reference they never in the movie talked
13:43about why marty and doc brown are friends you never really get that story yeah so in the original script
13:50they cut it out of the script okay but they never changed the story so the story is doc brown to
13:56make money something like he was he was shunned from from the science community for something yep so to
14:02make money he would kind of make um maybe maybe not porn movies but he made like kind of like illegal
14:11movies and stuff yep and he would have marty sell them for him in high school that's how they became
14:15boys never knew that yeah yeah yeah um okay so that's uh what did i say karate kid i said ferris
14:21bueller i said terminator back to future four and five i mean you gotta have a horror movie in there
14:25and i'm gonna go with nightmare on elm street okay it was between that and friday the 13th but friday
14:30the 13th you would have to start really with part two because part one was what the mother was the
14:37killer okay no well because the main killer is really jason i understand that but friday the
14:4113th one is what kind of builds up the entire franchise you can't just leave it out no no no
14:47i'm not i'm not like doing a hardcore argument with you i'm just saying like i'm just gonna pick
14:52nightmare on elm street but but if we ever and we could do a list of this that i know pebbles would
14:58be into uh the best jump scares in movie history i'll be i'll be out that day too yeah yeah to this
15:07day to this day the end of friday the 13th part one yes oh that is i would rank that as the number
15:16one jump scare in in horror movie history i don't know if i remember how i felt but like i just now
15:21obviously watching it you're like shit my pants oh shit yeah yeah it was it was it was there i like
15:28to call either oh shit or holy shit moments sometimes in movies where i'm like i don't know
15:33how to describe it except that when it happens you go oh shit yeah holy shit that was that was a moment
15:38where you said that and i think when that happened i literally was like i don't know i'll tell you right
15:42now exactly how old i was hold on fact that you probably don't realize or remember is that they show
15:47that at the beginning of part two to kind of recap you yeah yeah yeah so friday the 13th oh i meant
15:55movie i put friday the 13th date and it told me when the next friday the 13th is going to be
15:582026 if anybody cares uh yeah 1980 i was four and i said holy shit yeah all right there's so i'm just
16:08sitting here looking at lists and i'm like but i was gonna let you go because all right so that's
16:13i have i don't know if i have five but i have some good ones it's so hard because like on the
16:20spot trying to come up with five is crazy right because i'm gonna miss a lot can i just mention one
16:26movie that no one ever talks about i don't even know if i know you all probably haven't seen melissa
16:33there might be a chance that you did but there was a movie um that starred gregory hines called tap
16:40yes love it it was so good he had like just come out of jail yeah and he decides you know he's trying
16:49to decide whether he wants to go back to you know his life of crime or he like wants to become a dancer
16:58it's just i know it sounds kind of but it's really really good we got introduced to my little boy
17:05save young glover in that movie what uh boy but he was because that was what was he in jail for that
17:11when he came out he's like should i continue my life of crime it was rob like robbery like bank
17:16robberies okay yeah all right so i think that's what it was i can't did he tiptoe away when he grabbed
17:21the bag well you already mentioned one of mine um do the right thing that's definitely on my list
17:29um how can we forget coming to america oh coming to america yeah yeah just with all the different
17:39characters yeah and i don't know that that movie will always have me laughing my favorite eddie murphy
17:46movie oh is it yeah oh my god that and the scene where um the or it's arsenio hall by the way a movie
17:55introduced me to arsenio hall probably introduced everyone to arsenio hall now i think about it
17:59the scene where like arsenio hall like he decks out the apartment yes remember and then like the
18:05father comes and he opens the door and screams to this day yep i know what's gonna happen and i still
18:11laugh my ass off whenever i see that scene he does it so good oh that's a good one one that may surprise
18:18you all i loved hoosiers i never saw hoosiers one of those movies that i know what it's about but i've
18:26never seen it yeah it's like basketball and the coach was shunned and gene hackman right gene hackman
18:33yeah i don't know why but i really like that movie i don't know that and i don't know what year rudy
18:39came out but that was another yeah like sports movie that i really really liked um lean on me i was
18:46gonna say that oh good one me yeah yeah really really good very good one no you mean um stand
18:53by me no no lean on me stand by me was good but lean on me what the hell's lean on me uh crazy joe
19:00the batman they used to call me great now they call me batman now they call me batman in the school
19:05he takes over the school oh the school okay okay good one good one yeah yeah i was thinking about the
19:10kids who found the dead body no that's stand by me that's yeah yeah yeah yeah okay yeah all right i don't
19:14even know what number i'm on can i just i just want to mention two more la bamba oh that's right
19:21bomba i really like i think that was where i first got my first scaring of planes getting on planes
19:27was that movie seriously really that's kind of what built up my first bout of anxiety of going on planes
19:32sorry but they never showed i i think i've seen that movie like once a press i don't i haven't seen
19:37it in forever they don't show the crash they show them like on a plane and it gets shaky right
19:40no they just show it taking off in the snow oh that's it yeah oh wow yeah interesting and
19:46big oh oh love big big was really really i love it yeah all right there's one i didn't mention
19:56because i know you're gonna mention it honorable mention melissa no no i don't know pebs because i
20:00might not because i have a few that i think are just for different reasons so and i know we're
20:05crazy on time so we have all the time okay no i know um all right so the first one i'm going to
20:13mention is say anything say anything is a classic john cusack uh ioni sky um it's the reason why i
20:21like this one so much is because a it's a rom-com but b it teaches you a lot about
20:28dating somebody who you wouldn't normally date and then dealing with family issues in the midst
20:36of a new relationship okay so it's it's kind of got i'm picking these things because is it a comedy
20:41so it's a comedy it's it's both it's it's one of those comedy that's the one with the asian do
20:47where he goes what's happening that's 16 candles because that's another one i was going to consider but
20:51i i like i'm picking movies that kind of have i don't necessarily think it's it doesn't seem like
20:58comedy to me say anything yeah i laughed a lot because of just a lot of stupid things that like
21:04joe lies joe lies yeah it had funny moments um the next one is a movie that it's very very
21:14inappropriate but a lot of up-and-coming entrepreneurs can learn a lot from it and
21:19that's risky business with tom cruise risky business risky business oh it's like where he
21:24like he's dancing in the living room with his underwear or something so yes but do you remember
21:29what the premise of the movie was i i don't i never seen the movie i literally that's one of the movies
21:33where like i just know that scene so so he plays a high school student he's smart he's trying to get
21:39into these ivy league schools but he's not like super smart yeah he lives he comes from a very rich
21:44family parents loaded he's got rich friends whatever whatever his parents go away on a trip
21:51and his friends convince him to get a prostitute so oh jesus he calls over rebecca well first he
21:57calls over um a trans prostitute that he ends up turning away and then they say i'm gonna give you
22:04this girl's number you're gonna like her trust me that was in the 80s that was just that was that
22:08was the thing he calls so then rebecca de monet uh is the prostitute that comes over yeah but then
22:15they end up you know falling in love or whatever falling in love per se i guess like pretty woman
22:21and they're getting into a relationship but but she ends up teaching him about like being an
22:26entrepreneur because he ends up the whole goal is he ends up having this this party where he's raising
22:33he brings all of his friends together who can't have sex she brings all her hooker friends together
22:38and they put all their money together and then giant sex party kind of and i know it sounds crazy but
22:45it ends up being a lesson in business because that's what he ends up deciding he wants to do and
22:50he learns so much from that open a brothel no it's it's you gotta watch it anybody i think you're giving
22:58me a good sell on it to be honest good except when you say no to my questions the next one i'm
23:03going to mention is a classic and it deals with a lot of different teenaged issues at the time
23:11coming of age i love those movies fast times at ridgemont high oh yeah yeah yeah yeah there were
23:17so many i mean i don't think i've ever seen abortion oh yeah there was a dealt we dealt with abortion
23:23yep um the dude who was high all the time jeff spicoli it was always smoke he ordered the pizza
23:30to class when that scene happened i was like i want to do that i want to get a delivery to my
23:36class and eat in class i always wanted to do that but there was just a lot of life lessons to be
23:41learned from that movie oh you know a lot of like there was a you slept with my my best friend slept
23:47with the girl that i had a crush on yeah yeah the one night stand you know sleeping with an older man
23:53that that leaves you the abortion like there's just a lot of of of things in that movie to learn
24:00from um and then what was the other one that i wanted to mention i can't believe it hold on hold
24:09on oh i had another one and i know perhaps you're not going to want to mention this one but this one
24:14to me i just i loved it so much and it's so funny and have you guys seen arthur
24:20no arthur is with dudley moore and he plays like he plays a rich drunk guy he's a rich drunk guy but
24:29the reason why i like that movie so much is because it's funny but he's kind of set up to marry this
24:35rich snobby woman because her family comes from money too and his family is like if you don't marry
24:42this woman we're cutting you off and you're going to live in poverty for the rest of your life he
24:45falls in love with liza minnelli who's like got nothing comes from nothing and he gives up his rich
24:52life to be with this woman because he loves her so that kind of gave me hope like oh my god you don't
24:58have to be rich to you know they end up he ends up getting the money anyway at the end but that's the
25:02little plot twist but that's you know he's like an alcoholic and yeah because it's kind of teaching
25:08you that having all these this money is not giving doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna have
25:13the best life right like it ruined him the money ruined him it's kind of the lesson and then you
25:19know when he finds the love from a woman who doesn't have anything it kind of you know gives
25:25him a new leash on life the leash or lease lease lease on life i said leash on life yes what were you
25:33gonna say pebs that you thought i was gonna say there's several oh top gun oh that was the other
25:38one i wrote it down actually see you know what's funny i didn't get into my tom cruise era until
25:42basically like the late 90s yep i was gonna say that top gun for many reasons purple rain
25:48one of my favorites but i don't know if i'd okay just because it was so bad like i loved it but it
25:54was bad dirty dancing okay i'm surprised you didn't say that yep um i just wanted to throw a couple
26:00more into like some honorable mentions the color purple i've never seen i don't think i saw that one
26:06either i know you gotta see it just like i didn't see shawshank whoa shawshank first of all that's
26:14the 90s shawshank redemption oh that's the 90s yeah which which will be a topic for another day
26:18that's in my 90s movies dead poet society never saw that either and i love robin williams yeah
26:24crazy not a robin it is gonna be a it's gonna be a hot take unpopular opinion you've said this
26:31before and i'm not a big robin williams guy i found them a little i found them a little what
26:37people say about me like yo you corny i find him a little corny like don't get me wrong i i love the
26:43movie oh my god what's the name of it the one where he turns into the the woman mrs delfire mrs i love
26:47mrs delfire i don't think i've ever seen mrs delfire i love mrs delfire and he was good and um
26:53and i liked him in jumanji but in jumanji he wasn't good will hunting classic one of my favorite
27:00yeah i wasn't a huge good will hunting i know it's like i know i'm supposed to love that movie
27:05for some reason but i'm like i mean it was my top three main favorite movies of all time yeah it was
27:09i but but even in that like he wasn't silly like the main thing that he's known for is being like
