00:00Former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yul is facing new charges over his short-lived
00:06imposition of martial law last year. Prosecutors on Monday alleged that Yoon aided an enemy state
00:13by ordering drone flights over North Korea to justify his move to declare military rule.
00:21Special counsel Park Ji-yung cited evidence from a memo written by his former counterintelligence
00:27commander. The memo urged the military to create an unstable situation by striking targets that
00:35would force a response from Pyongyang or port city Wonsan. Yoon plunged the country into a political
00:42crisis last December when he invoked martial law, citing threats from North Korean communist forces
00:48and pro-North elements. He later sent armed soldiers to parliament to block lawmakers from overturning
00:55his decree. He was removed from office by the Constitutional Court in April and is currently
01:00on trial for insurrection and other charges related to his failed power grab.
