00:06after Seoul Central District Court found him guilty of leading an insurrection during his
00:11December 2024 martial law declaration, according to CNBC. Judge Ji Kua-yoon said Yoon planned the
00:17crime, sought to subvert the constitutional order, and showed no remorse. The court found
00:22that Yoon ordered troops to capture individuals, including current President Lee Jae-myung,
00:27and attempted to blockade the National Assembly. The court said it was difficult to see any sign
00:32of remorse from the defendant and noted that he refused to appear in court. Prosecutors had
00:37sought the death penalty. On December 3, 2024, troops were deployed to the National Assembly
00:42when Yoon imposed martial law. Lawmakers overturned the martial law order within three hours with a
00:48unanimous vote. Yoon was impeached 11 days later and removed from office on April 4, 2025.
