The Kremlin has firmly rejected recent U.S. statements describing Russia’s Burevestnik and Poseidon weapons tests as “nuclear.” Russian officials said such claims were “extremely superficial and incorrect,” insisting the trials involved nuclear-powered propulsion systems, not nuclear detonations or violations of test bans.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that while both systems are capable of carrying nuclear warheads, their recent tests focused solely on propulsion and performance — within the framework of international law. The United States, however, expressed renewed concern over Moscow’s weapons development, with President Donald Trump citing the tests as justification for considering renewed U.S. nuclear experiments.
