Virtually developed, proven in real life: With the new Cayenne Electric, Porsche demonstrates how digital transformation and engineering expertise can work together. The new all-electric SUV is scheduled to be unveiled towards the end of the year and will then be offered alongside the current combustion engine and hybrid models. "This project was the first in which we transitioned directly from digital complete vehicle testing to pre-series production," explains Dr. Michael Steiner, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Member of the Board of Management, Research and Development. The so-called "build stage," as the individually constructed prototypes are known internally, was eliminated: Around 120 time-consuming test vehicles were largely replaced digitally. Even during the design phase, the engineers sent virtual prototypes on digital test drives.
