00:14Two innovations of the fully electric SUV are based on developments from Formula E.
00:21One of these technologies is direct oil cooling,
00:24where all current carrying components of the electric motor are cooled directly.
00:29Porsche has relied on this innovation from the very beginning in Formula E,
00:33and now this technology is used in series production on the rear axle of the new top model of the Cayenne.
00:39While in conventional electric machines the coolant flows through a jacket outside the stator,
00:44in direct cooling the cooling medium flows directly along the copper windings.
00:48The heat is dissipated immediately where it is generated.
00:52This increases the efficiency of the electric machine to up to 98%.
00:57From motorsport to series production, also in recuperation performance.
01:01Depending on speed, temperature and battery charge level,
01:05the Cayenne Electric recovers up to 600 kilowatts of energy during braking.
01:10This enables the model to achieve the same peak value as the 99X Electric in Formula E.
01:16More recuperation allows for greater range and ultimately more compact batteries,
01:20the key to more performance for both sports cars and racing vehicles.
01:26High performance recuperation remains active even during dynamic driving.
01:30Depending on the driving maneuver, recuperation can even occur up to a complete stop.
01:34In normal driving operation, about 97% of all braking processes are purely electric,
01:40without intervention from the mechanical friction brake.
01:43In addition, intelligent software functions enable an optimum combination of high energy recovery
01:49and maximum deceleration with Porsche typical driving stability.
