00:02:20You're welcome.
00:02:21You're welcome.
00:02:22Oh, my God.
00:02:23Total freedom.
00:02:24Make what you want to move one step closer to the finale.
00:02:30Quite a challenge, right?
00:02:32This is a double-edged sword, for sure.
00:02:33But then it's like, huh.
00:02:36What do I make?
00:02:38This is a two-day challenge.
00:02:42Yay!
00:02:44So it better be good.
00:02:46Yes.
00:02:47All right.
00:02:47You guys can sketch tomorrow morning at the hotel
00:02:50and meet me at Mood when you're done.
00:02:52And one more thing.
00:02:54Okay.
00:02:55In honor of your newfound challenge of freedom,
00:02:58you guys are going to get to show your looks

00:03:03most sought-after location in the city.

00:03:11Oh, my God.
00:03:12Oh, my God.
00:03:13This is amazing.
00:03:13As you can see, it's outside.
00:03:14And you're showing rain or shine.
00:03:16Okay.
00:03:17There's a variety of models.
00:03:19Okay, great.
00:03:20And there's extra models in here.
00:03:22And Bishmi,
00:03:24as the winner of the last challenge,
00:03:25you get first pick.
00:03:28All right, y'all.
00:03:29Okay, can you go a little faster?
00:03:31We got to go.
00:03:33I've been wanting to work with her for the longest.
00:03:35Well, who's your show?
00:03:36And I love who she is, Jessica.
00:03:38Okay.
00:03:39She's good.
00:03:40All right, I'm going to leave these here
00:03:42for you guys to figure out.
00:03:44I'll see you tomorrow.
00:03:45Big challenge.
00:03:46Exciting.
00:03:47Big challenge, yes.
00:03:48Freedom.
00:03:49Good night.
00:03:50Can I take loose?
00:03:51You're going to take loose?
00:03:52I'll take loose.
00:03:53Her hair is stuck in one look.
00:03:54I'm going to take Nimi.
00:03:55I got the South African princess.
00:04:07Hello, blonde bombshell.
00:04:13Who do you have?
00:04:14Who do you have?
00:04:14Jessica Z.
00:04:16I'm glad we could be civilized, y'all.
00:04:18Look, I don't know about y'all.
00:04:20It's been a long day.
00:04:21But it's time to go, y'all.
00:04:23Thank God.
00:04:24We get to be ourselves, so what?
00:04:26I just want to know how much money we got.
00:04:28Why are you taking the plans?
00:04:43Hey.
00:04:43Hey.
00:04:44Hey.
00:04:45Hey, y'all.
00:04:46Good morning.
00:04:47We overslept a little bit.
00:04:48Sorry.
00:04:49It's okay.
00:04:50Who's ready to be free?
00:04:51I thought I was free.
00:04:52To be here at Challenge Number Whatever with my sisters, I think it's dope.
00:04:57I'm happy to be free with the sister circle, though.
00:04:59I'm ready.
00:05:00Hello.
00:05:01You have three strong black women together.
00:05:05We're so supportive of each other.
00:05:07We are the sister circle.
00:05:09So besides the challenge, what is freedom to you?
00:05:12Mine's like be, do, and go.
00:05:14To be who I am, to do what I want to do, and to go anywhere I want to go.
00:05:18The freedom to be me is a gift.
00:05:20You know, I'm 47, separated now from my husband, and I'm living a different life.
00:05:25And I do feel like a different sense of freedom.
00:05:28I don't have any restrictions.
00:05:30I don't, no one's going to tell me you can't do this now.
00:05:32What are you guys thinking for like the challenge?
00:05:34Like, what do you think about it?
00:05:36I think it's dope.
00:05:36For me, like being a gay black man, especially where I come from, I think the more you're able
00:05:41to like stand behind who you are and showcase who you are and be confident in it, the more
00:05:45you're able to allow other people to be free.
00:05:47I've been judged just because the color of my skin.
00:05:51People think I will end up joining the gang, selling drugs, or end up in jail.
00:05:57But I have the right to choose my destiny.
00:06:00Being a fashion designer, it's my way of celebrating freedom.
00:06:04I want to make sure I find who I am as a designer and what I'm capable of.
00:06:10Being Haitian and being in this country, I've realized there's so many different things
00:06:14that we take for granted.
00:06:15Like, I've seen dead bodies lined up on the street.
00:06:18I had a gun in my head by the army as a child.
00:06:22And now my kid can't even leave her house because she just might get kidnapped.
00:06:26So freedom means everything.
00:06:28And in the real world, like, that's what it's about.
00:06:30I feel like these are, you know, kind of like sobering moments where we kind of get to
00:06:35be a little bit more intimate with each other and perhaps start to understand each other
00:06:39a little bit better in how we became the people that we are today.
00:06:44Here's some pens to sketch.
00:06:45You have the freedom to choose whatever color you need.
00:06:48Oh, wow.
00:06:50So for this challenge, I am mixing fashion and activewear.
00:06:55I want it to be a bralette and a top combined.
00:06:57I definitely know I want some, like, cargo-inspired pants
00:07:00and a really cool athletic jacket.
00:07:03I'm going to go over here.
00:07:04Don't cry.
00:07:05Don't cry for me, Argentina.
00:07:09I'm sketching this as if I've already made it.
00:07:12One thing that when you see, you know it's me, it's a robe.
00:07:15So definitely making a robe.
00:07:17I want to do a sweater as well as a great pair of pants.
00:07:20I'm going to do the staples of which I built my career.
00:07:23I'm going to show me 100%.
00:07:25All right, you guys, it's freedom day.
00:07:27Let's all get to mood.
00:07:28Yes.
00:07:29Yes.
00:07:29Let's do it.
00:07:34Hi, guys.
00:07:36Did you get some sleep?
00:07:38We did.
00:07:39Did you?
00:07:39For real?
00:07:40Yeah.
00:07:41All right, well, I'm glad you rested up.
00:07:43So freedom to make whatever you want.
00:07:47Nice.
00:07:47But just remember, do you, don't lose who you are.
00:07:5130 minutes to shop, $750.
00:07:55That's a lot.
00:07:56That's good.
00:07:57You ready?
00:07:58All right, go.
00:07:59It's going to go quick.
00:08:06Print is on the other side, right?
00:08:07Other side.
00:08:09This will hurt.
00:08:11Give me five yards of all these.
00:08:12If you can, please.
00:08:14That's not it.
00:08:15It will look like an evening gown.
00:08:17Okay.
00:08:17Basically, it'll be a two-piece of top and a skirt.
00:08:19Being told that I have full freedom to do whatever I want as a Palestinian, it's quite big because that's something that we are on a daily basis deprived of.
00:08:29So I want to create a design that mimics freedom of flow of light silky fabrics that showcases my love for draping.
00:08:38I'm envisioning something that's Oscar worthy.
00:08:41I think you should make just the most insane thing that you've ever made.
00:08:44Okay.
00:08:45F*** them up.
00:08:46Okay.
00:08:47I'm going to do that.
00:08:47Please.
00:08:48I'm going to do it.
00:08:51That's too expensive.
00:08:53Baby blue feathers.
00:08:54Yep.
00:08:54Where do they go?
00:08:55And pink.
00:08:56Yep.
00:08:56This is lavender.
00:08:57It matches my fabric.
00:08:59I'm so excited for this challenge.
00:09:01My design, it's going to be whimsical.
00:09:03It's going to be fairytale.
00:09:05I feel very Easter.
00:09:06You said do me.
00:09:07I'm doing me.
00:09:08I'm going to go no holds barred.
00:09:11This is going to be wild.
00:09:13I don't know what's happening.
00:09:1515 minutes.
00:09:17Wow.
00:09:17It went fast.
00:09:18Good.
00:09:19I got to get home for lunch.
00:09:20You said we can do anything, right, Christian?
00:09:22Where you at?
00:09:23Keep up.
00:09:23Keep up.
00:09:24Excuse me, sir.
00:09:27What are you going to make?
00:09:28I'm making a gown.
00:09:29I first sketch out this gown.
00:09:32I know for sure I want to create something with a ruffle bottom
00:09:35and a jacket with a hat that has a free-flowing type of feel with it.
00:09:41Oh, so now you're going chocolate brown?
00:09:44I have a game plan.
00:09:45Yeah, two pieces of one yard.
00:09:47Oh, my God.
00:09:47I love you.
00:09:48Well, Laurence, I'll meet you in leather because I know you're here.
00:09:52Black again?
00:09:54Oh, come on.
00:09:55The green jumpsuit was the most major color.
00:09:58I know.
00:09:59Leather moment in the world.
00:10:00Do a cool color.
00:10:02Purple.
00:10:02I see this beautiful purple leather, so soft that I had to have it.
00:10:08See?
00:10:09You're here.
00:10:11Fab.
00:10:12Designers, that's it.
00:10:13That's time.
00:10:15In line.
00:10:15Are you getting nothing?
00:10:17Who are we missing?
00:10:18Rami?
00:10:19These are all together.
00:10:21Oh, my God.
00:10:23You guys stress me out to the end.
00:10:24Coming up?
00:10:26Across from me is Britney, and I instantly noticed my top for the 90s challenge.
00:10:31I feel like I'm in an episode of Bitch Stole My Love.
00:10:34This bitch ain't over the top.
00:10:36I am fighting.
00:10:37Freedom challenge.
00:10:45Oh, there he goes.
00:10:46There he goes.
00:10:46I wanted to trip you so bad.
00:10:48Why?
00:10:48I'm running to open the door.
00:10:50See his intention.
00:10:51See his intention.
00:10:52You're welcome.
00:10:54You're such a gentle lady.
00:10:56Wait, I still got to share a table.
00:10:59Stay over there.
00:11:00It's okay.
00:11:01Whoa.
00:11:02He was right.
00:11:02This is really bright.
00:11:04Damn.
00:11:04There you go.
00:11:05This challenge is exciting, but it's also extremely terrifying.
00:11:10That freedom, without the guidance, can be your downfall.
00:11:14This shirt is coming off.
00:11:16Good God, I'm hot.
00:11:18Yeah.
00:11:23That's cool.
00:11:25It's going to be on the skirt?
00:11:26Yeah, on the top of it.
00:11:28Okay, you working, ain't you?
00:11:30This time, I like to focus on one of the voodoo spirits called Damballa.
00:11:36When God created the heavens and the earth, he actually uses Damballa's bones as a snake
00:11:40to create the cosmos.
00:11:42I practice voodoo.
00:11:44It is a religion of the Africans imported into the island of Haiti.
00:11:48I would love to spray paint these green.
00:11:52A real monochromatic look.
00:11:54Okay.
00:11:55Good luck, I guess.
00:11:57I have done street wear this season, but I also make evening wear.
00:12:01And I want to create something that is me.
00:12:03So I'm making this evening look.
00:12:05Drop waist skirt with a slit in the front, so that you can actually see skin as she walks.
00:12:10And I'm doing a crop top with very big shoulders, and it can kind of mimic the skin of a snake.
00:12:18Hi, everybody.
00:12:19Hey, Christian.
00:12:21How's it like to be free?
00:12:24I feel so good.
00:12:25It looks like pretty great.
00:12:26I love it.
00:12:27All right, I'm excited.
00:12:28I'm coming to take a look.
00:12:28Cool.
00:12:29Wow.
00:12:30A drape on the form.
00:12:33Because you just get to make whatever you want, so now you're just making whatever you want.
00:12:36Oh my God, exactly.
00:12:37Isn't this great?
00:12:38I'm so excited.
00:12:39So tell me everything.
00:12:39What's the concept?
00:12:41What's the vibe?
00:12:42So the concept is my whole kind of Fashion Fairy Godmother vibe.
00:12:45It's like really whimsical.
00:12:46The Fashion Fairy Godmother is just my non-profit that helps foster care kids.
00:12:52They teach them how to write, produce, and act in their own short films.
00:12:57It's really amazing.
00:12:59Every child deserves a fairytale ending.
00:13:02They didn't have the life that I have.
00:13:04So to me, to try to give these kids a life is something that's so important to me.
00:13:09I literally grew up in a fairytale world.
00:13:18That's how we were brought up and raised.
00:13:21My father's in the Air Force.
00:13:22My mom was a princess and they created this cocoon that even though we grew up in the time period that we grew up in, there's a lot of things that we did not see until later in life because they protected us.
00:13:35I'm really intrigued.
00:13:36Okay, great.
00:13:37I've always been encouraged by my mom and my dad to do things big.
00:13:43So for this challenge, I'm creating my own narrative and I'm telling their story.
00:13:46You've got these very soft, romantic colors and fabrics.
00:13:52Yes.
00:13:52Feathers.
00:13:53Yes.
00:13:54Is this going to be like that bridesmaid's dress that you don't want to give to your friend?
00:13:58Think couture.
00:13:59Think like big.
00:14:00Okay, I like that.
00:14:00Big sleeves.
00:14:01Some type of sculptural moment.
00:14:04Yeah, very sculptural moment.
00:14:05That's cool.
00:14:06Yeah.
00:14:06People are either going to love this light, fairy-like thing.
00:14:09Yeah.
00:14:10Or they might not.
00:14:11The part about freedom is you guys ask us to be ourselves.
00:14:14Yeah.
00:14:14That's the world I live in and there's a market and people who love what I do.
00:14:18You convinced me.
00:14:19You'll see.
00:14:20You always do it though.
00:14:24Laurence, how's it going?
00:14:25It's going.
00:14:26This is a very tailored piece.
00:14:29Yes.
00:14:29What are you going to do?
00:14:30I don't know if I'm going to use this on the top or the bottom.
00:14:33Okay.
00:14:33Because what is the idea?
00:14:34What's it going to be?
00:14:35This tailored jacket into a skirt?
00:14:37Into a long skirt?
00:14:40Go evening.
00:14:40Why not?
00:14:41You're so good at it.
00:14:43Yeah.
00:14:43Start sewing for the fitting.
00:14:45I'm going to start cutting.
00:14:46Okay, great.
00:14:48Good luck.
00:14:49Thanks.
00:14:50I'm making a leather jacket.
00:14:52Strong shoulders, short sleeves.
00:14:54And the bottom of it, I bought purple leather.
00:14:57So basically, I'm going to make a long skirt.
00:15:00But the top of the skirt is going to be visually a black leather pants.
00:15:05I'm going to make a lot of money around this skirt.
00:15:06I'm going to show them a strong piece that I will put in it that people would see and be like, wow.
00:15:12The sun is going to be shining down upon us.
00:15:15Whatever it is, honey, I am looking forward.
00:15:19Hi.
00:15:21Do you have an appointment?
00:15:23Yeah, I do.
00:15:23Okay, well, step into my office.
00:15:25I'm here.
00:15:26Would you have some tea?
00:15:28All right, tell me, what are you doing?
00:15:29The goddess, Dabala.
00:15:31And he's a snake.
00:15:32That's why you picked green.
00:15:33Green.
00:15:34Because of the snake.
00:15:35This fabric here.
00:15:36It's the fake skin.
00:15:37Twirled around, you can kind of see it.
00:15:38So this big fitted, drop-waisted ball skirt.
00:15:41Yeah.
00:15:42I think they're going to think this is someone else up there.
00:15:45I don't think it's very you yet.
00:15:46The whole sporty and the bummer and the puffer thing, it started at Project Runway.
00:15:52I explored it.
00:15:54You did it.
00:15:54It's not really you.
00:15:55It's not what I do every day.
00:15:57It could be very strong being this green monochromatic thing.
00:16:02It's quite powerful that way.
00:16:04Yeah, I feel like I'm very excited about this because I feel like this is a moment for me.
00:16:08They're going to be so shocked.
00:16:09They're going to be like, what?
00:16:10I feel like I need to reintroduce myself.
00:16:12I'm excited.
00:16:13It's going to be really cool.
00:16:14You always get Praje, whatever he does, whether it's streetwear or is it high-end couture.
00:16:20Vick and gowns is literally how I started my business.
00:16:24I think this is the most me thing I've done here.
00:16:27Bishmi?
00:16:28Hey there, Christian.
00:16:29What are you making?
00:16:31So, I'm going to do like a big volume skirt, like a cool jacket, and then a visor there.
00:16:37So this can kind of like blow while she like walk.
00:16:39So this would be like a visor hat, and then that would be behind her?
00:16:42Oh my God.
00:16:43I'm obsessed with it.
00:16:45I just want a lot of movement and value and coolness.
00:16:48Oh, there we go.
00:16:48Yeah.
00:16:51Good luck.
00:16:57Oh, does this track make me look skinny?
00:16:59Mm-hmm.
00:17:01Just checking.
00:17:02All right.
00:17:04How's it going?
00:17:06So I like the whole idea of like robes.
00:17:08It's really a signature for me.
00:17:09So I want to give like the most amazing robe you've ever made.
00:17:13Period.
00:17:13With obviously a look that goes under.
00:17:15Yeah.
00:17:16This challenge being inspired by freedom means so much.
00:17:19As an African, as an immigrant, as a newfound American, we're still fighting for general
00:17:25freedom in our regular lives.
00:17:27It's a lot, and it's emotional.
00:17:29So I'm just trying to figure out like the sleeve situation.
00:17:31I kind of like this because it blends better with the fabric, but I didn't want it to like drown.
00:17:35I think you need that trim or something.
00:17:38Yeah.
00:17:38To break it up.
00:17:39I want to actually incorporate my leather into my sleeves.
00:17:43I want to create shackles that are just kind of like getting bigger as the hand grows stronger,
00:17:48but they're not connected.
00:17:50They're completely free.
00:17:51It's going to slay.
00:17:52Okay.
00:17:53Okay.
00:17:54So tell them.
00:17:54Promise me.
00:17:55I will.
00:17:56Back to work.
00:17:57Sometimes the restrictions just gives it energy that you can't hold it down.
00:18:01You can't hide it.
00:18:02It's going to shine.
00:18:04You guys have about four hours until model fitting.
00:18:08I won't be here for model fitting, so good luck, and I'll see you for the runway.
00:18:14Thank you, Christian.
00:18:15Bye.
00:18:15Bye.
00:18:16Bye.
00:18:29I'm going to visit the East Coast.
00:18:32You're in the Midwest.
00:18:35What are you doing?
00:18:36So Project Cummins, he's riding really feverishly fast, and basically it's about, you know,
00:18:43there's a lot of plagiarism going on.
00:18:47It's a collage.
00:18:49Across from it is Brittany, and instantly noticed my top from the 90s challenge.
00:18:55If that's the direction she wants to go, go ahead, but I would appreciate her note.
00:18:59Oh, my God, I'm going to have a panic attack.
00:19:02Honey, I will say something.
00:19:03Stitches get stitches.
00:19:04Stitches get stitches.
00:19:16One, two, three, four.
00:19:18I feel like I'm in an episode of Bitch Stole My Luck.
00:19:20What did you say, Project?
00:19:22I'm in an episode of Bitch Stole My Luck.
00:19:24I think I know.
00:19:26Never mind.
00:19:28Down to the high-waisted pants.
00:19:31I do think Brittany is living in her own world, not being aware that these looks might be very
00:19:36similar to looks at people that have walked these walls.
00:19:40This bitch ain't over the top.
00:19:41I am fighting.
00:19:42Don't do it.
00:19:43Okay.
00:19:43The queen has spoken.
00:19:45All right.
00:19:45Okay.
00:19:46I mean, it's obvious, so just don't say it.
00:19:48It's for others to figure out.
00:19:50I just let it go and accept it.
00:19:52I'm going to do me moving forward.
00:19:55Designers!
00:19:57Yes!
00:19:57Who wants a model?
00:19:58I do.
00:19:59I do.
00:20:00You get a model.
00:20:01And you get a model.
00:20:02Yay!
00:20:03And all the way in the East Coast, y'all going to get some models, too.
00:20:06Yay!
00:20:07Oh, how are you?
00:20:08What?
00:20:09Models in the house.
00:20:10Y'all got to do it.
00:20:11Good to see you.
00:20:12How are you?
00:20:13Hi, bitch.
00:20:13I want you to be, like, the new version of, like, apocalyptic, edgy streetwear type of
00:20:20feel.
00:20:21It's going to look very dope.
00:20:22I want to make sure it fit how I need it to fit.
00:20:25You're not going to believe it.
00:20:25Where?
00:20:26We are modeling outdoors.
00:20:28And, like, it's beautiful.
00:20:30It's, like, a freedom part.
00:20:32Gorgeous.
00:20:33I can't wait.
00:20:34This challenge is pretty much, like, do whatever you want, whatever your aesthetic is.
00:20:38This is going to be very different.
00:20:40Okay.
00:20:42Where are you from?
00:20:43Originally, born in Jerusalem, Palestine, and I have been here for the past 10 years.
00:20:49This is a big, sentimental, symbolic challenge for me because it literally is about the Palestinian
00:20:55dream, which is freedom.
00:20:57I started sketching when I was seven years old during curfews and lockdowns where we couldn't
00:21:01leave the house for five or six days.
00:21:04Design was part of my personal therapy.
00:21:07The creative process was dealing with that kind of anxiety, of that constant state of
00:21:13instability where you don't have equal human rights, let alone freedom of movement.
00:21:18The idea is, like, a really formal, like, red carpet.
00:21:22Red carpet.
00:21:22You know what I mean?
00:21:23And I feel like the colors.
00:21:25I feel like we're going for Oscar out there.
00:21:26Yes.
00:21:26Yes.
00:21:27Yes, that's the idea.
00:21:28I'm glad that you feel that vibe.
00:21:31So, I'm going to create something that is the opposite of how I grew up feeling, which
00:21:37is something light and airy and simply majestic in a sense.
00:21:43So, my goal is to have it coming from your hair, like, here.
00:21:50Oh, my gosh.
00:21:51I am so excited.
00:21:53This is so cool.
00:21:54This is definitely a risk to have this snake going through her hair and not knowing why it's
00:22:00there.
00:22:00Kind of this idea of the spiritual world and the physical.
00:22:06So, you are the goddess Zambala.
00:22:09I am so happy.
00:22:10This is, like, a whimsical fairy tale.
00:22:16Oh, my gosh.
00:22:17You just went, like...
00:22:18Yep.
00:22:19Finished it off.
00:22:19Oh, it looks absolutely amazing.
00:22:22It's very neat.
00:22:22It's very my aesthetic that we're right here.
00:22:26We see each other.
00:22:26It's going to be like a mermaid.
00:22:28That's why I'm going to show you your knees.
00:22:29So, basically, here will be fitted and then, like, you'll have room so you can walk.
00:22:34Okay.
00:22:34Yeah.
00:22:35What's your accent?
00:22:37Born and raised in France, but I've been in the U.S. for a minute.
00:22:40Yeah, this is going to be cute.
00:22:43I think I'm a private person.
00:22:45I keep a lot of shit in, right, because it's my business.
00:22:51From 16 to 20, I went from being a kid to a freaking adult.
00:22:56I did not live my teenage years because I had a kid.
00:23:00And that's why part of me always felt out of place.
00:23:04I never was the one to share my personal life.
00:23:08I just always walk with my head high, no matter what it is that I'm carrying.
00:23:12Or maybe I'll put a little zipper, like, here.
00:23:16A little detail.
00:23:17Yeah, yeah.
00:23:19I don't even know why I'm telling you.
00:23:20That's my problem to figure out, right?
00:23:22You'll figure it out.
00:23:23I think I'm going to add, like, at least two inches to the hem.
00:23:26So it's, like, just super baggy.
00:23:28Feels amazing.
00:23:29Feels perfect.
00:23:30What?
00:23:30I love it.
00:23:31I'm sorry.
00:23:32I feel so cute.
00:23:33I like the white a lot with this because I feel like the contrast is cute, right?
00:23:37It's so great.
00:23:38It's so awesome.
00:23:39And with the jacket, when you're just, like, it's open and gathered and you're like.
00:23:43I'm sorry, but it's time.
00:23:46Say bye to your models.
00:23:48Y'all ain't got to go home, but you got to get the out of here.
00:23:52Thank you, love.
00:23:53Bye.
00:23:55Bye.
00:23:56Bye, guys.
00:23:57See you next time.
00:23:59How did it go for you?
00:24:00It went cool.
00:24:02I got to just add it together, you know?
00:24:06Do what I do.
00:24:06This dress is literally a representation of me.
00:24:09I feel like brown is beautiful and it doesn't get a chance to be used in, like, an elegant
00:24:15way.
00:24:16This is actually my first time using all brown for a challenge, so pretty happy about this.
00:24:22Damn, this is hot.
00:24:24Hey, y'all.
00:24:25Hey.
00:24:27We got 30 minutes.
00:24:28Really?
00:24:28Make it count.
00:24:29You're going to put something here or just this?
00:24:32Mm-mm-mm.
00:24:33No?
00:24:33No.
00:24:34Yeah, yeah, I am.
00:24:34I wanted to use the largest class phone.
00:24:37Oh, please.
00:24:38I mean, I love Carason, but I see the look and I don't know.
00:24:42It's a little too busy for me.
00:24:44This is so fun.
00:24:47Add that little rock, rock, rock, rock to it, honey.
00:24:50Yeah.
00:24:51Yeah.
00:24:53What more do you have to work on tonight?
00:24:55I got a lot going on, all right?
00:24:56I do like Brittany's look.
00:24:59I love the colors.
00:24:59I love the young, freshness of this sportswear.
00:25:03Love the look.
00:25:04But mine was better.
00:25:07All right, guys.
00:25:09It's time to head out.
00:25:10All right.
00:25:12Sorry, I know you all want to stay, but...
00:25:14Time to go.
00:25:15Let's get on up out of here.
00:25:17I want to go eat.
00:25:18Coming up, can you walk?
00:25:23It's a little restrictive right now.
00:25:25You have like 15 minutes.
00:25:27I don't know.
00:25:27What else could you do?
00:25:28Because it's tight.
00:25:38It's too early.
00:25:39So early.
00:25:41Good morning, America.
00:25:42Oh, my goodness.
00:25:43It's breakfast.
00:25:45I love it.
00:25:46How does everybody feel this morning?
00:25:48We're going to the Freedom Park today.
00:25:50It's going to be fantastic.
00:25:52Fantastic.
00:25:53Like, this is the moment to share your design language, in a sense.
00:25:56Like, what do you envision?
00:25:57And I think that this is the opportunity to do that without the restrictions.
00:26:02Do everybody have a lot left to do?
00:26:04Yeah.
00:26:05Yes, of course.
00:26:06I mean, come on.
00:26:07Are you going to have enough ostrich?
00:26:09Do you want me to go kill a few hours if you're in the back?
00:26:11No, we did not.
00:26:12No animals were harmed in the filming of this episode.
00:26:16So, let's do it.
00:26:17Come on.
00:26:18All right.
00:26:23Yes.
00:26:24This is where the magic happens, y'all.
00:26:25Yes.
00:26:26Yes.
00:26:26The last stretch.
00:26:27Love it.
00:26:28There you go, that.
00:26:32God, I've got to start my jacket.
00:26:34Same.
00:26:35I'm trying to spend as much time on this to finish it so I can move on to the next s***.
00:26:41Do you love it?
00:26:42I think so once I'll be done sewing it.
00:26:45Is it perfect?
00:26:47I think so once I've done sewing with it.
00:26:49Is it cool?
00:26:50I think so once I put it all together.
00:26:54So I'm pretty much done with the jacket.
00:27:04So now I'm just going to tackle the skirt.
00:27:06But the problem is I am not completely in love with it yet because I cannot see the whole
00:27:11thing yet.
00:27:14That clock over there is my enemy.
00:27:16Missing one feather.
00:27:25Oh, there it is.
00:27:27You're always missing one.
00:27:29Right now it is all about finishing the jacket really, really quickly and spending the rest
00:27:35of the time creating this dress.
00:27:37I mean, the jacket's going to be closed the whole time anyway.
00:27:44I am creating this pleather jacket that has this rust feel to it if you stretch the fabric
00:27:54enough and I'm liking how it's looking like aged leather.
00:27:59No more exaggerated shoulders because I want to show the judges that I am taking in what
00:28:05they are saying.
00:28:06Vishmi, your look might have ended up in the top if it weren't for those shoulders.
00:28:12It's time to show them that I have evolved to the designer that they know I am.
00:28:18How are you feeling?
00:28:19I'm good.
00:28:20Just, you know, in the zone.
00:28:21If Ramisha in the zone, that's a great thing.
00:28:25Hi, everybody.
00:28:27Hi.
00:28:28Guys, it's show day and we're taking it on the road.
00:28:32Yay.
00:28:33All right.
00:28:34Who wants a model?
00:28:35You know I want my model, boy.
00:28:36Don't ask me no question like that.
00:28:38All right.
00:28:38Let's bring them in.
00:28:41Hello.
00:28:41How's it going?
00:28:43Hey, boo.
00:28:44Finishing the jacket.
00:28:46Amazing.
00:28:46All right, designers.
00:28:48You have about two hours until you head over to 4 Freedom State Park.
00:28:54Woo!
00:28:54Lift your left arm.
00:28:56Turn that way.
00:28:57And then you got your black nail, so that's perfect.
00:29:00I know I got a lot to make, but I'm trying to stay centered and, you know, positive.
00:29:10Wow.
00:29:12What's going on?
00:29:13It is.
00:29:14What's the skirt?
00:29:15It's just a simple beaded gown and then the jacket.
00:29:18And this is part of the jacket and that's it.
00:29:19Oh, this caped piece.
00:29:21Yeah.
00:29:22It's part of the jacket.
00:29:23You need that?
00:29:24The cape piece?
00:29:25The jacket's so cool without it.
00:29:27Without the cape piece?
00:29:30It looks like you're just adding it on to add it on.
00:29:32No.
00:29:32Okay.
00:29:34A lot of look.
00:29:37I hope it's a lot of look.
00:29:38That's my signature.
00:29:41The sleeve is very cool, though.
00:29:44Hmm.
00:29:49Zipper.
00:29:50Zipper.
00:29:50Snaps.
00:29:51Done.
00:29:52It's like cool sweater thing.
00:29:54Does this go with it?
00:29:55It looks good.
00:29:56It does.
00:29:56Okay.
00:29:57I'll probably glue this so it doesn't move.
00:30:00Wow.
00:30:00Look at that sleeve.
00:30:02Are you beading, too?
00:30:03Just the edge of the sleeve.
00:30:05Really?
00:30:06Don't really me.
00:30:07It's cute.
00:30:08All right.
00:30:10I love how the silver shimmers.
00:30:13Woo!
00:30:14Woo!
00:30:14Woo!
00:30:15Yeah!
00:30:17What is that?
00:30:18The outfit.
00:30:19What are you talking about?
00:30:20Y'all said do whatever I want, so I want to do that.
00:30:23This is not the outfit.
00:30:24Come on.
00:30:25This is it.
00:30:26No, you're not just showing underwear.
00:30:28I am.
00:30:29Are you serious?
00:30:32No, you're not.
00:30:33He's lying.
00:30:34Where's the rest?
00:30:35That's it.
00:30:36I didn't have time.
00:30:37No, you made a sheer skirt.
00:30:39Where's the gown?
00:30:40I'm going to go look.
00:30:41You're not going to see anything.
00:30:42What do you mean you don't have time?
00:30:43You have two days.
00:30:45Oh, he's trying to hide it from me.
00:30:48Coming up.
00:30:49It's raining.
00:30:50The models have to walk with an umbrella.
00:30:53Let's go under the 10s.
00:30:54I'm visualizing raindrops literally staining the silk.
00:30:58What is that?
00:31:06The outfit.
00:31:08No, you're not just showing underwear.
00:31:10Where's the gown?
00:31:11I'm going to go look.
00:31:13You're not going to see anything.
00:31:14I don't believe you.
00:31:22I thought so.
00:31:23I love messing with Christian because low-key, he stresses me out sometimes.
00:31:30And if you were serious, I was going to cut you in half so hard.
00:31:33With what?
00:31:34You stress us out, I'm going to stress you out.
00:31:36All right, designers.
00:31:37When you're ready, take your models to the makeup studio and the Tresme hair salon.
00:31:42And it's freedom.
00:31:43The looks can be anything.
00:31:44Hi, I'm Lacey.
00:31:45Nice to meet you.
00:31:46Hey, Lacey.
00:31:47Hi.
00:31:48The look is super sporty, so I'm doing the bubble braid.
00:31:51Like here, like kind of at the top of the ears.
00:31:53Yes.
00:31:54I'm going to use a Tresme extra whole mousse.
00:31:55I want to like really make sure all this hair is like really split back.
00:32:07It's so cute.
00:32:08Hey, gorgeous.
00:32:09I wanted to bring you my look.
00:32:11Roberta has beautiful hair.
00:32:12What I would like to do, though, is almost like a zigzag crimp.
00:32:15First, I'm going to prep your hair with Tresme one-step blowout balm because it will minimize
00:32:21the frizz.
00:32:22Oh, it smells really good.
00:32:23Oh, it smells really good.
00:32:24Oh, so good.
00:32:25Yeah, it's gorgeous.
00:32:26I love it.
00:32:27Brini, those pants need a press.
00:32:28They're going to be crumpled up.
00:32:29All right.
00:32:30Well, then don't press them.
00:32:44Don't listen to me.
00:32:47What do I know?
00:32:49Bishmi, put the skirt on.
00:32:51You want to see something on a body.
00:32:54Sakes.
00:32:55Hmm.
00:32:56Simple.
00:32:57Simple and elegant.
00:32:58Oh.
00:32:59It's nice.
00:33:00That's me.
00:33:01Okay.
00:33:02Can you, like, walk?
00:33:04Oh, no.
00:33:05I'm going to cry.
00:33:06Naked?
00:33:07I'm glad you got rid of the lining.
00:33:08Yeah.
00:33:09Mm-hmm.
00:33:10So let me do some hand sewing.
00:33:11Uh-huh.
00:33:12It's a look.
00:33:13So let me see the side.
00:33:14Take a little step, see if you can walk.
00:33:15It's a little restrictive right now.
00:33:16Uh-huh.
00:33:17Right.
00:33:18Can you just cut a vent in the back?
00:33:19Hmm.
00:33:20Like a center backslip?
00:33:21Okay.
00:33:22I don't know.
00:33:23What else could you do?
00:33:24I'm going to add a panel real quick.
00:33:25Maybe cut it.
00:33:26Try it on again.
00:33:27Yeah.
00:33:28Okay.
00:33:29And you have like 15 minutes.
00:33:30Okay.
00:33:31Okay.
00:33:32All right.
00:33:33Because it's tight.
00:33:34Maybe I was too ambitious and I don't know.
00:33:37But this thing has to be perfect.
00:33:39I love green.
00:33:40Me too.
00:33:41So elegant.
00:33:42Yeah.
00:33:43Oh, there's a slit.
00:33:44Everybody is sure it's not.
00:33:45It's not.
00:33:46It's not.
00:33:47It's not.
00:33:48It's not.
00:33:49It's not.
00:33:50It's not.
00:33:51It's not.
00:33:52It's not.
00:33:53It's not.
00:33:54It's not.
00:33:55It's not.
00:33:56It's not.
00:33:57It's not.
00:33:58It's not.
00:33:59It's not.
00:34:00It's not.
00:34:01It's not.
00:34:02You know what?
00:34:03Joby.
00:34:04Joby was showing?
00:34:05Quite a lot.
00:34:06A little peekaboos all around.
00:34:09All right designers.
00:34:11I'm taking your model to the park in five minutes.
00:34:13Where your sleeves are.
00:34:19Ront.
00:34:20You good?
00:34:21Yep.
00:34:22Yep.
00:34:23You did it.
00:34:24Yeah, I did it.
00:34:25Just gotta glue it real quick.
00:34:26Awe.
00:34:27They'll see when they gotta see it.
00:34:28Wow.
00:34:29Those pants are cool.
00:34:30I'm gonna give myself a slap of hands.
00:34:34I'm finally in the cool club.
00:34:38Let me cut some of these strings really quick.
00:34:40All right, designers, one minute,
00:34:42and I'm taking your models.
00:34:45Let me see how you find a simple necklace.
00:34:47I love this look.
00:34:48This is beautiful.
00:34:50Will you help me find a necklace?
00:34:52Absolutely not.
00:34:53Don't you dare put a necklace on this thing.
00:34:55I will cut you.
00:34:57Look at this.
00:34:59God.
00:35:01Better, right?
00:35:02Much better.
00:35:05All right, I'm taking your models.
00:35:07Designers, you stay here, pack up your things,
00:35:09and I'll see you there for last looks.
00:35:11Come on.
00:35:12Word, bitch.
00:35:13Let's go.
00:35:13All right, guys, I'll see you in a little bit.
00:35:23All right, designers, last look.
00:35:25Let's do it now before it rains.
00:35:29Back one more time to make sure there's some curls.
00:35:34Can I get some lips over here, please?
00:35:36Ten minutes until showtime.
00:35:38A little party of threads back here.
00:35:40Oh, wow, you really see everything outside, don't you?
00:35:43Sure do.
00:35:43With the natural light, you really see it all.
00:35:46Can I put a little more?
00:35:47Guess what? It's not a cat eye.
00:35:48You don't want a cat eye?
00:35:49No.
00:35:50Oh, well, if the models have to walk with an umbrella,
00:35:57maybe it's a vibe.
00:35:59Oh.
00:36:00It's raining.
00:36:01OK, I need to go.
00:36:03All I'm visualizing now is braindrops literally
00:36:07staining the silk.
00:36:09Whew.
00:36:10Let's go under the tent.
00:36:12Oh.
00:36:13Two minutes.
00:36:17Wait till somebody lock their sleeve.
00:36:20All right, designers, that's it.
00:36:21That's time.
00:36:22Whoo!
00:36:23I'm so excited.
00:36:24I would have missed this for the world.
00:36:25I'll see you there.
00:36:26Let's go.
00:36:27Let's go.
00:36:28Let's go.
00:36:29Let's go.
00:36:30Let's go.
00:36:31Let's go.
00:36:32Let's go.
00:36:33Let's go.
00:36:34Let's go.
00:36:35Let's go.
00:36:36Let's go.
00:36:37Let's go.
00:36:38Let's go.
00:36:39Let's go.
00:36:40Let's go.
00:36:41Hi, designers.
00:36:42Hi, Lynn.
00:36:43Hi.
00:36:44How epic is this?
00:36:45It's epic.
00:36:46Real epic.
00:36:47Real epic, right?
00:36:48Gorgeous, sunny, warm day, right?
00:36:52Absolutely.
00:36:53Yeah.
00:36:54One point.
00:36:55The Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park.
00:37:02Yay.
00:37:03We thought this would be a beautiful place
00:37:05to showcase who you are and exactly what you do.
00:37:09And so fun to have Christian with us.
00:37:11Yes.
00:37:12Wow.
00:37:13We didn't even give him cards.
00:37:15No cards.
00:37:16We decided to keep this one in the family
00:37:19because it was just too important.
00:37:21Understood.
00:37:22Honestly, we cannot wait to see what all of you have designed
00:37:26when you've been given total freedom.
00:37:28Designers will score your designs as they come down the runway.
00:37:32All right, everybody.
00:37:33Let's start the show.
00:37:34Let's start it.
00:37:35Yay.
00:37:36It was.
00:37:37I think I've done more than enough in this challenge.
00:37:55I stay true to who I am.
00:37:57And as a designer, I represented what I do.
00:38:00Wow.
00:38:06My look is great.
00:38:07This is a look where I get to give full, cut-toe,
00:38:10Clarice, mumulu.
00:38:12And that's what they're getting today.
00:38:14It looks stunning.
00:38:27The movement of this fabric as she walks with the wind blowing,
00:38:31it's as if she's floating.
00:38:32Then as she turns, you get this little element of surprise of this open bag.
00:38:48I think this will completely represent who I am as a designer.
00:38:56And this is very evening for me.
00:38:58This is one of the happiest I have been creating looks on this competition.
00:39:06Very, like, great expectations or something.
00:39:09I feel like now I'm doing things that is me.
00:39:18Come on, mama.
00:39:19Give it to him.
00:39:20Give it to him.
00:39:27With this look, I'm so happy with it.
00:39:29It definitely shows my identity and DNA.
00:39:31Nice, Sporty Spice.
00:39:32Nice.
00:39:33Wren is working this look.
00:39:35It's very dimensional.
00:39:39And I'm glad that I could really bring color in activewear and high fashion to this runway.
00:39:53I can stand by my design with pride because, I mean, this is who I am.
00:39:57I'm not just going to pretend to be somebody else that does couture garments.
00:40:01I mean, not really.
00:40:03It was pretty good.
00:40:04It was pretty good.
00:40:21Very pretty from afar.
00:40:22I hope it's as gorgeous when it comes into focus.
00:40:25I love the fabrication, the brocade, the lace, the feathers.
00:40:31It's just, it's beautiful.
00:40:35I knew going into this challenge that I wanted to create this fashion fair godmother look.
00:40:42Because that's who I am.
00:40:44The cut of that jacket is so weird, though.
00:40:46I know.
00:41:04Mimi literally looks like a dream.
00:41:06This is beautiful.
00:41:07It's very pretty from afar.
00:41:10And it's one of the most beautiful runways that I've ever done in any of the challenges on this show.
00:41:15Oh!
00:41:20She looks glamorous.
00:41:21She looks elegant.
00:41:23It's just moving around like a beautiful, gorgeous cloud.
00:41:28Yeah, she's giving high fashion beauty questions.
00:41:33This dress embodies who I am and my passion as a designer.
00:41:37And embodies the theme of this challenge.
00:41:39It is quite beautiful.
00:41:40Yeah, no, it is pretty.
00:41:41Very pretty.
00:41:42This look, for me, represents everything that I love to do in this fashion game, which is leather.
00:41:46It's pretty gorgeous.
00:41:47It's pretty gorgeous.
00:41:48That's a skirt that would sell.
00:41:49It was gorgeous.
00:41:50It was gorgeous.
00:41:51Love what I did.
00:41:52Very proud of what I did.
00:41:53I hope that I've done enough of this.
00:41:54It's pretty gorgeous.
00:41:55It's pretty gorgeous.
00:41:56I love what I did.
00:41:57I'm very proud of what I did.
00:41:58I hope that I've done enough to stay in this competition.
00:41:59Because, again, you never know.
00:42:00Laurence can cut a skirt.
00:42:01Yeah.
00:42:02It's cute.
00:42:03In the bottle just finished.
00:42:04Let my sword.
00:42:05Just söyler who'd a bottle like a December December date.
00:42:07That's the dress, the leather that I like to quickly save.
00:42:10Yes.
00:42:11Reallyend soul, please.
00:42:12It was pretty gorgeous, let me present it.
00:42:13Very.
00:42:14I found that it's pretty gorgeous too.
00:42:16First of all, Hey it was gorgeous.
00:42:23It was balancing.
00:42:28possible to walk in, and the model always walks
00:42:31flawlessly in it, no matter who it is.
00:42:33It's like a very specific skill set.
00:42:34I mean, look at the bottom of that skirt.
00:42:51I am pleased with seeing Jessica walk down this runway.
00:42:54The pleather jacket is looking so amazing.
00:42:58Wow, this is really beautiful in this light.
00:43:00Gorgeous, really gorgeous.
00:43:04I think my looks stack up to the competitors
00:43:06because I'm not only showcasing a different side of me,
00:43:10I am showcasing what a collection will look like for me.
00:43:15Oh, I love this chiffon.
00:43:17Train that smacks all of our guests at the wedding
00:43:19as she walks down the aisle.
00:43:21That's major.
00:43:22If you allow me to do whatever it is that I want to do
00:43:26with a challenge, I'm going to take it there.
00:43:28That was really beautiful.
00:43:31Bravo.
00:43:32Designers, incredible, incredible work.
00:43:36You should feel so proud of yourself.
00:43:38I'm really, like, continue to be majorly blown away
00:43:42by what you're able to achieve in 15 hours.
00:43:44That was definitely worth getting out of bed,
00:43:59putting my stretch jeans, my concealer on for,
00:44:03and driving into the city to see this tonight.
00:44:05and driving into the city to see this tonight.
00:44:08It was really beautiful.
00:44:09Really great job.
00:44:10Congratulations.
00:44:12All right, now let's all get warm
00:44:14so we can go discuss your design.
00:44:16Yes, perfect.
00:44:17Meet us back at the runway.
00:44:19Thank you, guys.
00:44:20You guys killed it.
00:44:22See you at the runway.
00:44:23Hello, designers.
00:44:36Did everybody get warmed up and dried off?
00:44:39Yes.
00:44:40This is getting more and more difficult
00:44:43as we're getting near the end of the competition.
00:44:46I thought this was an outstanding demonstration
00:44:49of your point of view.
00:44:51We've scored your designs.
00:44:54Brittany, Coteau, you are in.
00:44:59Nice job, Brittany and Coteau.
00:45:01You can leave the runway.
00:45:04A little safe, though, both.
00:45:06That was safe.
00:45:07Okay.
00:45:08Noted.
00:45:10The five of you had the highest and the lowest scores.
00:45:14One of you will be the winner,
00:45:15and one of you will be out.
00:45:17What was safe about that?
00:45:18You can't buy that at Target.
00:45:19They did say whatever you want.
00:45:20We really did that.
00:45:21We did whatever we wanted.
00:45:23All right, let's get into it.
00:45:24I changed my hair, put on a roomier sweater,
00:45:26because I think this is going to get juicy.
00:45:29I feel offended.
00:45:31You do?
00:45:32I'm sorry.
00:45:32I do.
00:45:33It's like I'm lending it to, like, CEOs,
00:45:37like, professional women who go to galas
00:45:40and who have foundations.
00:45:42Like, yeah, those are my customers.
00:45:44I have to stay true to her and me.
00:45:45Of course.
00:45:46Same.
00:45:47Let's start with one of our favorite looks of the night.
00:45:49Let's get the model out here.
00:45:57All right, Bishmi,
00:45:58you had the freedom to do whatever you wanted tonight.
00:46:01Why this look?
00:46:02I love that I'm in a place
00:46:04where I identify with my masculine side
00:46:07and my feminine side,
00:46:08and I love to put it into my art.
00:46:09Where were you and this,
00:46:11where was this look when I was getting married?
00:46:14Oh, God.
00:46:14Because this is everything.
00:46:17It's like a cool future take on bridal.
00:46:21Let's start with the color.
00:46:23This chocolate brown,
00:46:24red so beautifully against your model's skin.
00:46:28I thought it was really smart, though,
00:46:30to elevate the look with that dramatic veil,
00:46:34which felt like Met Gala ready.
00:46:36Is the jacket leather?
00:46:37Um, no.
00:46:38So all of this is like a pleather type of fabric,
00:46:42and it's actually on like a tweed fabric.
00:46:45It looks so expensive.
00:46:46And what's the fabric on the bottom?
00:46:48Um, this is a satin that's double-faced it,
00:46:50so I just got something that had a nice heavy weight
00:46:52so when she walked, it could bounce a bit.
00:46:54I think this look is ready for the red carpet.
00:46:57Oh, thank you, Elaine.
00:46:58You deliver fashion.
00:47:00You are on trend,
00:47:02if not making your own trends.
00:47:04As an editor, that's what I'm looking for.
00:47:06The surprise element.
00:47:08Thank you, Nina.
00:47:09It was challenging for me to go out in the rain today,
00:47:12and thank God I did,
00:47:13because that was one of the most beautiful things I've seen.
00:47:16This I could see immediately on anybody today
00:47:19who is in the cultural zeitgeist.
00:47:22Thank you, Brandon.
00:47:24Thank you, Bishop.
00:47:24Thank you, Jessica.
00:47:25Jessica, you can leave the runway.
00:47:29Unfortunately, the next look
00:47:30was one of our least favorites of the night.
00:47:32Let's bring out the model.
00:47:33Prajee, this was different for you in this competition,
00:47:45so tell us why you chose this look.
00:47:46I kind of felt like I needed to say,
00:47:49hey, remember this?
00:47:50I remember season 19.
00:47:51I did the gloves.
00:47:52Very feminine, avant-garde,
00:47:53and I feel like this season,
00:47:55that might have been a little lost
00:47:56with the more higher end of streetwear.
00:47:58So I wanted to do something that is me,
00:48:00so there is a story behind this whole look.
00:48:03First thing that came to me was the goddess Dumballa,
00:48:06and Haitian voodoo is half man, half snake.
00:48:08So I wanted to show that in this fabric.
00:48:10It's the idea of having this snake wrapped around her,
00:48:13and then on the head is where I went more traditional,
00:48:16that physical snake.
00:48:17I appreciate that you wanted to show a side of yourself
00:48:20that we haven't seen much of,
00:48:22but this garment is everything you are not.
00:48:26It doesn't feel modern, it doesn't feel fresh,
00:48:29and it doesn't look like it fits the model as it should.
00:48:34I knew I was taking a risk,
00:48:36and the bagginess is supposed to sit right on top
00:48:38to create that fit there to define her waist.
00:48:41For me, the big puffy shoulders and the brocade
00:48:44with the green boots, with the serpent and the hair,
00:48:48it was two many things together.
00:48:51I wish the snake would have been in her neck
00:48:54and not her top.
00:48:55I wish it would have been part of the decorative detail on this,
00:48:59but mostly, I think the problem was the portion.
00:49:03Okay.
00:49:04Thank you, Prajee.
00:49:05Lucy can leave the runway.
00:49:09Okay, let's talk to another one of our top looks of the night.
00:49:12There she is, Miss America.
00:49:21Rani.
00:49:21Hi.
00:49:22So it was the Freedom Challenge.
00:49:23Why this look?
00:49:25Where I come from as a Palestinian,
00:49:27living under military occupation,
00:49:30we don't have the freedom of movement.
00:49:33I'm unable to visit my birthplace, Jerusalem.
00:49:35There are always obstacles and checkpoints in the way,
00:49:37but in this particular design,
00:49:39I wanted freedom of flow, freedom of movement.
00:49:42I thought the choice in fabric was smart and super risky
00:49:48because you can't have any cutting issues.
00:49:51You better not get a snag.
00:49:54It just, it was you,
00:49:55and it highlights your expert craftsmanship.
00:49:58Thank you so much.
00:50:00This dress is so fluid.
00:50:02Was it cut of the bias?
00:50:03Yes, it's all on the bias.
00:50:04The cut on the bias is driving me insane.
00:50:08I've got to say, it is insane.
00:50:12I saw Hollywood glamour.
00:50:15This is perfection.
00:50:18Thank you so much.
00:50:19Thank you, Christian Siriano,
00:50:22for bringing this man back
00:50:23because this is stunning.
00:50:27It is timeless.
00:50:28It is classic.
00:50:30But there are hints of the future here
00:50:32in terms of your fabric choice,
00:50:35those intelligently placed cutouts.
00:50:37It was really breathtaking.
00:50:39Thank you so much.
00:50:41Mimi, you can leave the runway.
00:50:45I love you.
00:50:46She's going to take her time.
00:50:48All right.
00:50:49Let's bring out one of our favorite looks of the night.
00:50:52Here comes the model.
00:50:53Laurence, congratulations back on the top.
00:51:03What about this look says this is Laurence?
00:51:06I like structure.
00:51:07I like lines.
00:51:08The jacket stayed true to what I designed first.
00:51:11I wanted a leather panty,
00:51:13so I decided to go with a skirt
00:51:15and incorporate the design of a panty in it
00:51:17to make it not so obvious.
00:51:19Where in the hell did you learn to cut a skirt?
00:51:23It's a whole bunch of math and body.
00:51:27It's just in my head.
00:51:28I really liked it,
00:51:29and that's when I enrolled into fashion school,
00:51:32and that's the year, um...
00:51:45Sorry.
00:51:46Take your time.
00:51:47Take your time.
00:51:49So, um...
00:52:03I got pregnant when I was 16,
00:52:05and nobody knew about it.
00:52:08And, um...
00:52:09I got a letter telling me
00:52:11that I was accepted to fashion school.
00:52:14Um...
00:52:15So I just thought my life was over.
00:52:17Did you go to fashion school?
00:52:19Yeah.
00:52:20I only missed two weeks of school.
00:52:21Nobody ever seen me pregnant.
00:52:23Wow.
00:52:24I lost a lot because of that.
00:52:26My father disowned me,
00:52:28and he never got over it,
00:52:30so he literally passed away,
00:52:31and we never spoke.
00:52:33Oof.
00:52:35That's why I don't open up sometimes.
00:52:37Well, Dan.
00:52:38Thank you for sharing that story.
00:52:41And I know there's been a lot of hardship,
00:52:44but it's shaped you into a very talented designer.
00:52:49For sure.
00:52:50But you have this very strict personality,
00:52:55and you're not letting it go.
00:52:57And when I see you move out of that comfort zone,
00:53:00when you play with the strict and the soft,
00:53:04is when the magic really comes out.
00:53:07Yeah.
00:53:08It definitely does put your work
00:53:11into a greater context for us.
00:53:13The sculptural nature of your silhouettes
00:53:17is very architectural.
00:53:20The jacket for me
00:53:21was not maybe the most modern.
00:53:22Okay.
00:53:23But if you don't mind to turn around,
00:53:25the way that you're able to cut a garment
00:53:27is incredible.
00:53:29I mean, this is not a material
00:53:31that you can make a lot of mistakes with.
00:53:34No, you can't.
00:53:35Thank you, Laurence.
00:53:36Thank you, Laurence.
00:53:37Go ahead.
00:53:39All right, let's bring out
00:53:40our last look of the night,
00:53:41which unfortunately was one of our least favorites.
00:53:47All right, Kerasan, so tell us,
00:53:53how did you come up with the concept?
00:53:55So I love my costume design, of course,
00:53:58but this whole look was inspired
00:54:00by the Fashion Fairy Godmother,
00:54:02and that is a nonprofit that I have.
00:54:04These are actually the colors of the organization.
00:54:07We have been sponsoring Kids in the Spotlight
00:54:09and foster care kids,
00:54:11and they teach them how to make their own films.
00:54:14Okay, so tell us in the Freedom Challenge
00:54:16why this specific look.
00:54:18I love things that are whimsical.
00:54:21That's my whole brand.
00:54:22I mean, Kerasan, your charity, first of all,
00:54:24such an incredible inspiration.
00:54:26It definitely contextualizes this character.
00:54:29Right.
00:54:30But there was a lot going on.
00:54:32I don't personally think that you needed that train.
00:54:35I think it took away from the fluidity
00:54:36and the femininity of the look.
00:54:39And what happens at the top?
00:54:40The top is out in the back.
00:54:43The jacket was, of course,
00:54:44not going to come off, but...
00:54:46Oh, wow.
00:54:49Turn around.
00:54:51Ugh.
00:54:51Wow.
00:54:53It's more breathtaking without the jacket.
00:54:55You are a costume designer,
00:54:58and I think that you are really able
00:55:00to also give us really high-fashion runway moments
00:55:02that live out of a film, a stage, a TV.
00:55:06And tonight just wasn't that.
00:55:09One thing's for sure.
00:55:11Your looks will never, ever be boring
00:55:15because you want every single one of them
00:55:18to be spectacular.
00:55:20Yeah.
00:55:20From the shoes to the dress
00:55:23to the jacket to the train.
00:55:25It just needed to be harnessed.
00:55:28Thank you, Kerasan.
00:55:31Beautiful.
00:55:32See, that's what I don't like about it.
00:55:35Then you want her to change who she is.
00:55:37If it's working for her,
00:55:39it doesn't make any sense.
00:55:41Be you, but can you be someone else?
00:55:43Yeah.
00:55:44Designers, we have a lot to talk about.
00:55:46We'll call you back when we're ready.
00:55:55Oh, yeah, yeah.
00:55:56Okay, so tonight proved to be particularly challenging.
00:56:02When you can do whatever you want to do,
00:56:03it can be really, really hard to find
00:56:05even, like, a point to start.
00:56:07But why don't we start with our favorites tonight?
00:56:09Bishmi, Laurence, and Rami.
00:56:12The three all had very precise point of view.
00:56:16Mm-hmm.
00:56:17Rami, he can cut a dress on bias.
00:56:20God.
00:56:20Like a few others.
00:56:22The craftsmanship of that, no side seams,
00:56:26absolutely flawlessly draped around the body.
00:56:29It was classic,
00:56:30but he brought something fresh to that archetype.
00:56:33Yeah.
00:56:34Does anybody want to say anything about Laurence?
00:56:36I'm really blown away by her skill.
00:56:39This skirt, I think she stumbled upon her new signature.
00:56:42Yeah.
00:56:42But I do think something inside her
00:56:44needs to break free a little bit.
00:56:46We haven't seen it all yet.
00:56:48There is more that she has to bring out.
00:56:51Let's talk about Bishmi.
00:56:53I think Bishmi has an innate understanding
00:56:56of streetwear, what is trending.
00:56:59I completely agree.
00:57:00I feel like tonight, when I drive home,
00:57:02I'm going to still be thinking about Bishmi's look.
00:57:04Right.
00:57:05I don't know how he engineered that skirt
00:57:08and how that heaviness did not pull that chiffon down.
00:57:11It looked like architecture.
00:57:13Mm-hmm.
00:57:13Do we know we're a winner?
00:57:15Yes.
00:57:15Okay, let's move on to our bottom two designers.
00:57:21Unfortunately, Praje and Karasan,
00:57:23which is a bummer for me to be talking about both of them.
00:57:27I know.
00:57:28Let's start by talking about Karasans.
00:57:30You know what?
00:57:31You're going to go first this time on both of them.
00:57:33Ah, please.
00:57:35Who are we talking about?
00:57:36She almost said screw you.
00:57:37Did you hear her?
00:57:37She goes, screw you.
00:57:38I did not say screw you.
00:57:40Please.
00:57:40Uh, for me, Karasan has to learn how to edit down her process.
00:57:46And I don't think she is there.
00:57:48And this was a perfect example of putting everything in to one look.
00:57:54It just, it was too much information.
00:57:57It was too fantastical.
00:57:58I don't really know how you save that.
00:58:01There is no jean.
00:58:02There is no short.
00:58:03There is no skirt.
00:58:04There is nothing you can put on the bottom of that that would make that jacket work.
00:58:07I don't know.
00:58:08If I took that jacket out of that context and I said, that's Alessandro Michele for Gucci,
00:58:14you would be like, oh, yeah, maybe.
00:58:17If I told you, I am George Clooney, would you say, oh, yeah, maybe.
00:58:24In the real world, designers have fantastical designs.
00:58:29It was not a fantasy.
00:58:31I'm sorry.
00:58:31It was a circus.
00:58:33I mean, we have to talk about projects also.
00:58:35I really do appreciate that he wanted to push himself.
00:58:38And I think that there were some nice elements here.
00:58:40But in Ivory, my mom got married in this in 1981.
00:58:44And that's fine.
00:58:45But this is 2023.
00:58:46It's hard because so much of what he's shown us has ended up in the top.
00:58:50Certain designers are finding their groove.
00:58:53And I feel like Praje seems to be a bit stuck.
00:58:55I'm not confident he's going to fight his way out of it.
00:58:58Listen, he wanted to surprise us.
00:58:59He did.
00:59:00Yes.
00:59:01It ended up surprising us.
00:59:02In not a good way.
00:59:03In not a good way.
00:59:04I mean, which of these looks between Praje and Carason could you see walking down a runway today?
00:59:13Oof.
00:59:14None.
00:59:15If you had to choose one.
00:59:17If they were like, Nina, you have to put one of these on the cover.
00:59:19Why me? Ask somebody else.
00:59:20Which one would you put?
00:59:23I mean, this is what we're here for.
00:59:26So we all agree we know who's going home.
00:59:29Let's get him back out here.
00:59:30You all showed a crystal clear point of view and truly delivered on high fashion.
00:59:48But unfortunately, only one of you can be the winner.
00:59:52The winning look tonight gave us a glimpse into the future.
00:59:56And it took a breath away.
00:59:58The winner is...
01:00:00Bishmi.
01:00:06Congratulations, Bishmi.
01:00:12I'm trying to get to somewhere to show you guys a collection.
01:00:15Just a few more challenges to go.
01:00:17So, Rami and Laurence, you are also in.
01:00:22You can all leave the runway.
01:00:25Congratulations, everyone.
01:00:27I feel amazing.
01:00:28It's getting me closer and closer to what I want to get to, which is the finale.
01:00:32And I hope they're able to see with this look that this is just a sneak peek of what my collection
01:00:37would consist of.
01:00:38Well?
01:00:40Bishmi.
01:00:40It feels good, but I'm definitely not trying to allow myself to get big-headed.
01:00:47Congrats, booze.
01:00:49Yay.
01:00:52Two of our favorites.
01:00:54This hard.
01:00:55Praje and Karasan.
01:00:58We appreciate both of you delivering on impressive runway moments tonight.
01:01:02Unfortunately, one of you will be in and one of you will go home.
01:01:07Karasan, your look was a little too much fantasy and not enough fashion.
01:01:14Praje, the shape of this look ultimately felt dated.
01:01:18This was not easy.
01:01:21You two bring a lot to this competition.
01:01:30Karasan.
01:01:30I'm so sorry, but you are out.
01:01:40Praje, that means you are in.
01:01:43Congratulations.
01:01:45You can lead the runway, Praje.
01:01:51Karasan, you are amazing.
01:01:54I think ultimately it came down to the need to edit, but you gave us looks that wowed
01:02:00us, that we will remember, and we are so sad to see you go.
01:02:05Karasan, I just wanted to say how much you have inspired my own journey and my life.
01:02:10Yeah.
01:02:11I hate to see you go, but I'm glad that we'll get to see you forever and ever and ever.
01:02:14I never thought I'd be back on this runway.
01:02:18And I was at home with my mom and she just loved the show.
01:02:23I was like, mom, should I do it?
01:02:25And I promised her I would.
01:02:28Two weeks later, my mom transcended.
01:02:32So I think my mom set this up for me.
01:02:35It's been a blessing to be back.
01:02:38I really enjoy this Project Runway family.
01:02:41And I just want to thank you.
01:02:42Thank you, Karasan.
01:02:44Bye.
01:02:44I want to give a hug.
01:02:46Can I?
01:02:48Thank you very much.
01:02:49This experience was so special.
01:02:52It was like a full circle journey for me to come here and to meet my sister circle and
01:02:59my baby bros.
01:03:01I knew it was a sign for me to come here, you guys.
01:03:04I know my mom wanted this for me.
01:03:06Oh, I love you too.
01:03:08Love you too.
01:03:08Yeah.
01:03:09Your mother is so proud.
01:03:12You're going to be so missed.
01:03:13I hope you feel really good about everything you did here because I think it was incredible
01:03:18to watch.
01:03:19Look, season one to season 20.
01:03:21It's amazing.
01:03:23All right.
01:03:24I love you guys.
01:03:26I love you.
01:03:26Head to the workroom, clean up your space, and good luck with everything.
01:03:28All right.
01:03:29You're welcome.
01:03:30Sometimes you just have to walk on faith.
01:03:33I was able to talk about my beautiful mother and everything that she meant to me and everything
01:03:39that she's given to me and what I'm trying to do with the fashion fairy godmother really
01:03:45started with my parents.
01:03:47And so to be able to share all that, this journey has been just very special to me.
01:03:54Watch the Project Runway after show right now and on demand wherever you stream Project
01:04:01Runway.
01:04:03Next on Project Runway All-Stars.
01:04:05For your challenge, you'll create one look that showcases two styles.
01:04:12Ooh.
01:04:12This entire competition, I've been in a double bind.
01:04:16One minute my skirts are too long, this minute they're too short.
01:04:18I do one black outfit, I'm basic.
01:04:20No, not basic.
01:04:21I feel like I'm damned if I do, I'm damned if I don't.
01:04:24Two styles, one look.
01:04:26I get these mixed messages.
01:04:28I would be in a full-blown spiral.
01:04:30We can't wait to see what you guys did.
01:04:31Oh, Lord.
