00:16A Slidell police officer is responding to a shoplifting call.

00:59A Good Samaritan pulls over and offers the cop a ride.

01:07She begins following the suspect's car.

01:11I got... I'm in a vehicle with a civilian.

01:13I'm gonna try to keep sight of them.

01:14I don't know where they went.

01:28The Good Samaritan is doing her best to keep up with the suspect.

01:48Without lights or sirens, they're having some trouble getting around traffic.

01:51It's in front of a black dodge in the right lane.

01:54So instead, the officer takes off on foot.

01:59Get out of the vehicle. Shut it up. Shut the vehicle up.

02:03They have the car surrounded on three sides.

02:06Stop. Do not move. Put your hands up. Get out.

02:17I didn't do it. I didn't do nothing.

02:18Car's driving. Hey, my car is rolling, sir.

02:24Both the driver and passenger are placed in cuffs.

02:31And are then led to a waiting patrol car.

02:39Now, 34-year-old Kelsey Baird and 43-year-old Eric Boudreau were charged with theft,

02:46resisting an officer by flight. Baird was also charged with possession of meth.

02:50By the way, the Good Samaritan's name is Leslie Smith. She's a preschool teacher in Slidell.

02:55And earlier this week, she received their department citizenship award.

02:58So, congratulations, Leslie. You are amazing.
