Tarkus — Tarkus 1972 (Peru, Heavy Psychedelic, Hard Rock)
The heaviest of all Peruvian hard rock bands, Tarkus was formed in 1971 by two members of Telegraph Avenue, Alex Nathanson and Walo Carrillo, joined by Argentines Guillermo Van Lacke and Dario Gianella. The album was recorded in the spring of 1972 and released by the MAG label in a limited edition of only 50 promotional copies, as the label deemed it too heavy and too advanced for Peruvian rock fans. At the end of 1972, the band members decided to go their separate ways. Nathanson and Carrillo resumed their careers with Telegraph Avenue, Guillermo Van Lacke returned to Argentina, where he became a successful music producer, and Dario Gianella went to Miami and became a studio musician.
