S1 E9 – The Celebrity Traitors- Uncloaked 🕵️‍♂️🎭
Transcript
00:00Joe was a traitor. I came very close to being a fan of myself.
00:25You have chosen yourself in a game. Why?
00:30I am. And have always been.
00:44A traitor.
00:53I'm so sorry.
00:54He's been tearing me apart. I'm so sorry.
00:59Oh, my God.
01:01Brilliant, Leo.
01:03You did great. You did great. You did great. You did great.
01:05You did great and you did great. You did great again today.

01:11Here you go.

01:19!
01:24Hello and welcome to the Celebrity Traitors' Uncloaked Grand Finale.
01:26cloaked grand finale.
01:27I'm Ed Gamble and we're going to be unpacking everything
01:29from that jaw-dropping last episode with all our finalists.
01:33We're here at the BBC Radio Theatre with a studio audience
01:35full of our all-star cast of celebrity, faithful and traitors.
01:38And how amazing do they all look? You look incredible.
01:45Coming up, Claudia Winkleman is here to finally discuss the show
01:48she usually has to avoid talking about.
01:50Kat, Jo, David and Nick will be on this stage to decompress
01:53from that unbelievably stressful final day.
01:56And our winner, Alan, will be joining us
01:58to tell us what it takes to go all the way.
02:00Get yourself comfy because this is
02:02the Celebrity Traitors' Uncloaked finale!
02:07What a final episode.
02:09I mean, I was so stressed that I am...
02:11Well, let's just say Celia would have been proud.
02:14We're going to be speaking to the finalists shortly,
02:16but first off, I'm joined by the fingerless glove-wearing legend
02:19that is Claudia Winkleman.
02:23Hello.
02:24Claudia.
02:25Yeah.
02:26Welcome.
02:27Welcome back to Uncloaked.
02:28You've just seen that very, very tense finale.
02:30How did you feel watching it back?
02:32Quite emotional.
02:34Can I just show everybody my T-shirt?
02:36Absolutely.
02:36There he is.
02:37Because even though, obviously, I was there,
02:45yes, just watching it back,
02:47because I don't watch the other ones back.
02:48So, yeah, it was a lot,
02:49and it's just amazing that our cast are here.
02:52The atmosphere in this room was electric.
02:54Yeah.
02:55I mean, I'm not a football fan,
02:56but I'd imagine this is what it feels like
02:57to watch England score a big goal.
02:59You see?
03:00It was amazing.
03:01Yeah.
03:01What was it like at the time, though?
03:03Obviously, watching it back is a different experience.
03:05What was it like when you were in the room for that endgame?
03:07Well, unbelievable.
03:09I mean, my knees were knocking,
03:10because I'm incredibly nervous,
03:12and it is, without sounding like a total tool,
03:15it is an absolute privilege
03:17to always be in those, at those roundtables.
03:21But, yeah, the endgame was quite something.
03:23And when the third green pouch went in,
03:26and I realised what was happening.
03:28People have seen this now.
03:29I'd imagine there's already videos going up online
03:31of pubs, people watching it,
03:33and pints just flying in the air.
03:35It was, because you feel,
03:37I feel so protective of them all.
03:39You feel for them individually.
03:40I love Nick, because all he could just say was,
03:43Joe.
03:43And Joe was utterly brilliant.
03:47You know, that moment he went,
03:48I've worked out who they are.
03:50It was like a pull focus.
03:51I was like, watch him go.
03:54And then Kat, who was extraordinary throughout,
03:57was so brilliant in the turret,
03:59and the fact they caught, you know,
04:01the whole thing is sort of highly emotional.
04:03You gave a speech to them quite early on in the game
04:06about how people lie to them all of the time,
04:08because they're celebrities.
04:09I loved that speech.
04:10Do you think that sort of thing
04:11makes the game harder for celebrities?
04:14I don't know that it makes it harder for them,
04:17but I thought there were two things.
04:19One, the traitors were utterly brilliant.
04:22Yeah.
04:22And two, so there was only so much they could do.
04:27But it is a hard game.
04:29You know, the absolute star of this whole thing
04:32is the game is addictive.
04:34It takes over.
04:34It's hard for anyone.
04:35But what I also love is,
04:37because people watch at home sometimes,
04:38and sometimes people will say to me,
04:41how do they not know?
04:42You don't know.
04:43It's very easy when you're watching at home,
04:46but when you're sitting there,
04:47it is almost impossible.
04:48Now, I know you're very fond of everyone who played the game,
04:52but I know you had a particular fondness for one player.
04:54I'm talking about the national treasure
04:56that is Celia Ingrid.
04:56Oh, my gosh.
04:58What is it in particular that draws you to Celia?
05:01She is so twinkly.
05:03I've never met anybody that twinkly.
05:06I've always loved Celia.
05:07So when they said, Celia's taking part,
05:09I was like, are you joking?
05:11The actual, or like a tribute.
05:14No, the actual.
05:16And I'm not allowed.
05:17I have to be like Cruella de Vil,
05:18which I find difficult,
05:19because I just wanted to go,
05:20oh, I love your song, and you're brilliant.
05:23And so I'm not allowed.
05:24I'm just like strict and fluorescent orange.
05:27And there was one point when I'm standing next to Celia,
05:29and just out the corner of my mouth,
05:30I thought the producers weren't here,
05:31so I just went, obsessed.
05:35And she was like, thank you.
05:38Celia, it's wonderful to hear, you know,
05:41how much Claudia loves you,
05:42but we want to know, have you got any better at snooping?
05:44No, not really.
05:46Really not.
05:48I'm just, the thing is that you said you were obsessed
05:52after I'd admitted I was two-faced.
05:54That's why we were all obsessed by you,
05:56because Celia, well, my other favourite thing that Celia did
05:58is she would say, you are dazzling,
06:01and then write their name on the board.
06:03It was so compelling.
06:05Someone else who didn't make the final,
06:07Nico, unfortunately, you went out quite early,
06:09but how was it watching that back?
06:11Do you think there was some good gameplay in there?
06:13Yeah, I mean, Joe, I was very impressed with.
06:17I just can't believe it was bottled at the end,
06:19in the final moment.
06:21But yeah, it's a very tough game.
06:22I do feel, in a way, like I made it to the final,
06:25because I have the same name as Nick.
06:29You were there?
06:30Yeah, so, yeah, almost won.
06:34Now, we're going to be hearing from our finalists
06:36and our winner quite soon,
06:38but first, Claudia, you are the hostess with the mostess,
06:41and thank you so much for entertaining us week after week.
06:43And I know you hate this bit.
06:44I hate it.
06:44I know you hate the compliments.
06:45Well, you're going to hate this bit even more,
06:46because let's have a look at your best bits.
06:48Tiny word of warning, don't relax too much.
06:53Tomorrow, the killing spree begins.
06:56This isn't personal, but it is tradition.
07:00I know you're thinking it, so I'm going to say it.
07:04They've just dug their own graves.
07:06Nothing like the sound of screaming celebrities.
07:08Stephen Fry's in the water, I got it.
07:12Faithful, you are breaking my heart.
07:15You are famous.
07:16People lie to you all the time.
07:20I love that show.
07:22It's a great jacket.
07:24I listened to that particular podcast twice.
07:29What just happened?
07:31I just felt disappointed.
07:33But I always own up.
07:35I know.
07:35I always own up, too.
07:37Well done.
07:39We'll get you out with the others shortly.
07:43No immediate rush.
07:44Come to me!
07:46Come on!
07:46Run!
07:48It's Christmas!
07:49Queen!
07:53We did it!
07:55That was better than my wedding day.
07:58Thank you, Claudia.
08:11Iconic as ever.
08:11Thank you, Claudia.
08:12We'll be talking to our winner, Alan, soon.
08:14But with me now, I'm thrilled to welcome our four runners-up, Kat, Joe, David and Neil!
08:18Well, we're very excited to have you with us here for this very special finale.
08:29Kat, let's talk about that final roundtable, because going into it, you and Alan were very confident.
08:34I mean, erring on cocky, would you say?
08:37You're sort of very sure that Joe was on your side.
08:39Yeah, we were.
08:40Do you know, I was hoodwinked by Joe.
08:43I did think that you were going to be the deciding vote, because I was like, I knew Nick was going to vote for me, and then I knew realistically David would vote for me, too.
08:54So then I was like, it's going to be Joe.
08:55And I did think that you were going to go for David, and then it was when the conversation on the roundtable, it was varied, but then towards the end of the conversation, I was like, I feel like Joe's going to vote for me.
09:09And you couldn't look me in the eye.
09:10So that's when I was like, yeah, my time's done.
09:13I had a good run.
09:14And then I got dashed.
09:16But even when we were in Scotland speaking, I think you were still under the impression that Joe changed his mind last minute.
09:21How does it feel watching it back and knowing that that was pretty much Joe's plan all along?
09:25I think it's just fabulous television.
09:27I just think it's so funny that me and Alan are like, yeah, yeah, we've got this, we've got this.
09:31And Joe's like, I know it's them two, and I'm going to get it.
09:34I just think it's great telly.
09:36At what point did you start to suspect Kat?
09:38Because I think from our perspective as a viewer, you were sort of, you know, sniffing around some traitors.
09:43But then in that episode eight, you were like, it's Alan and Kat, and just blew everyone away.
09:47Yeah, I think I worked it out on day one that it was Jonathan, Kat and Alan.
09:53But I was having so much fun in there.
09:56Yeah.
09:57No, the shield cock-ups from Jonathan and Alan, they were the sort of giveaways for me that I was like, hmm, I like shields.
10:07You don't seem to like them as much as me.
10:10Now, Nick, you were suspicious of Kat from, I think, episode five.
10:13Yeah.
10:13But you decided to keep that to yourself.
10:16Yeah.
10:16Which is a very clever plan.
10:17But how do you feel about how the plan played out in the end?
10:20Oh, I think I thought I was being clever, and then it all just backfired a little bit.
10:25I think as soon as you, there was one roundtable where you voted for David that felt, just didn't ring true for some reason.
10:31And I thought, and at first I thought it was you and Lucy.
10:34I remember thinking it was you, Lucy, and Jonathan.
10:36Yeah.
10:36And I thought you and Lucy were in cahoots, but that was wrong.
10:40I mean, I was wrong pretty much every single step of the way in every episode, I think.
10:44I don't think that's true at all.
10:45I think there were people that were more wrong than you.
10:47Okay.
10:47And I'm naming no names.
10:51David, next question for you.
10:56What do you think it was about Kat's game that meant that so few people suspected her right up until the end?
11:02Well, I think a number of people did suspect Kat, but we did this thing where we would suspect somebody, have a conversation with one other person, and then totally forget that at the roundtable.
11:13We just kept doing the same thing.
11:16You know, I think we had a conversation, I think episode five, about Kat, and then we both voted for somebody else at the roundtable.
11:22So there was not much...
11:24I think you voted for me.
11:25Yeah, I think I was, yeah.
11:26That's what I meant by somebody else.
11:28Kat, the night you go into the turret to meet your fellow traitors and you see it's Alan and Jonathan, how confident are you at that point that you can move through the game as a group of traitors?
11:41I just found it so funny when it was Alan.
11:43I couldn't hold it in.
11:45I think I was really confident because I just thought it was quite a rogue trio.
11:51Like, I really didn't expect it to be me.
11:53And then when Claudia tapped me, I was like, oh, my God, what the heck?
11:57Like, so when I saw it was Alan, I was like, when I saw it was Alan and Jonathan, I was like, I feel like we can get pretty far because Jonathan's a great talker, as we could see.
12:05He got through so many roundtables.
12:08And then Alan, all he had to do was go, and everyone just went, oh, it's not him.
12:13So it was a fabulous trio.
12:15Well, yeah, one of the big dogs is out the kennel.
12:18Jonathan is with us here.
12:19You seem very pleased that Kat and Alan were your comrades, Jonathan.
12:22Do you think it's the difference in personalities that made you confident about the group?
12:26I think I was just, I mean, I was just happy to see someone else up there with me.
12:30I mean, but I mean, I know Kat a little bit, and I knew how calm she is, and I know how she presents as being very calm.
12:37So I thought that would be useful.
12:38And when Alan came in, I just think, you know, he's so much fun to spend time in.
12:42I mean, looking back now, Alan played a far more kind of tactical game than I thought he was at the time.
12:46He was far clever with it.
12:47And I knew you were very tactical as well.
12:49A lot of the time, I mean, a lot of the time we got there and I'd say, I think we should kill so-and-so.
12:53And they'd both talk me around, and we wound up killing someone who I really thought we shouldn't kill.
12:58But they had a better grasp of the game, I think, really.
13:00Are you happy that it was a Tracer's win in the end?
13:02Oh, yeah, that's all I really wanted.
13:04I mean, you know, and that's what I think is probably different about this version of the game to the regular version,
13:08is that it does become more like the two teams against each other.
13:11But I really wanted to see one of the, or ideally two of them, get through to the end.
13:15And you did, of course.
13:16But having watched last week's episode, there's no way I thought either of you were going to survive.
13:20And for that, I think we do need to thank Nick.
13:24You're very welcome.
13:27Thank him, shall we?
13:30I cannot believe.
13:35We'll get to it, Joe.
13:36Don't worry, we'll get to it.
13:38You will have your chance to have a say.
13:40The Humdy P collapse.
13:41It's amazing being in the room with your stare.
13:46It really is unsettling, Joe.
13:47My stare?
13:48Your stare, yeah.
13:49Oh, yeah, the stare?
13:49Yeah, the stare.
13:50What is the stare?
13:51It's your face.
13:55How did it feel watching the final back?
13:57Yeah, it was fine.
13:59No issues whatsoever.
14:02Me and Nick are right, me and David are right.
14:05Just struggled to make eye contact with them from now on.
14:08I mean, I was sitting in the row in front of you watching that, and when you saw you get banished, you did shout scumbags at them.
14:16Did I?
14:18No, I didn't mean that.
14:19I didn't mean that.
14:20I was, I just couldn't work out.
14:23I still, I don't think until we spoke, I said, what was it?
14:26And it was because I was, like you just said, being polite and saying, I wasn't saying sorry to Kat because I was Judas in her, like you did me.
14:36I was so convinced.
14:37I was saying sorry to Kat because I really liked her and enjoyed my time together.
14:43I was like, sorry, mate.
14:44You know, I think.
14:45What happened?
14:46When Joe and I text each other after we got out of the castle, he continually refers to me as Judas and then occasionally replaces the you with a heart, which is quite nice.
14:56You were arguably, Joe, the most accurate traitor hunter because you got Kat and Alan correct.
15:04I mean, you're more on a traitor's safari.
15:06You didn't actually hunt all of the traitors.
15:10And of course, you were the leader of the big dog theory.
15:13I mean, how did you do it?
15:14Because you seem to have all these brilliant theories, but you couldn't quite convince everyone of them.
15:19Well, yeah.
15:21They were sort of stolen theories, majority.
15:24I was like, oh, that sounds good.
15:25Yeah, we'll go with that one and then amalgamate one.
15:28And then trying to convince the rest of the players to get around it was a lot harder than I thought.
15:36Kate, why do you think people latched on to the big dog theory and not other theories?
15:41For example, the sun-dried tomato theory.
15:44I can't.
15:45I can't imagine.
15:46I'm genuinely flabbergasted.
15:48There you go.
15:49I mean, the sun-dried tomato theory, it's very, very common in criminal law, the sun-dried tomato theory.
15:59So, yeah, it's weird, isn't it?
16:01David, I want to ask you about that final roundtable because obviously it came to two apiece for you and Kat.
16:07You'd obviously had a lot of suspicion on you throughout the game, including that incredibly tense roundtable with Mark.
16:13Yeah, I remember.
16:14Did you think that this was it for you?
16:17Did you think your luck had finally run out?
16:20I was mainly thinking that this was our kind of last chance to try to get a traitor.
16:24I wasn't really thinking about me getting voted out.
16:26And I had come round to that point by talking to Nick in particular, thinking it was Kat.
16:31So I was mainly focused on, can we get a traitor?
16:35Joe's grand plan went up in flames, sadly.
16:39How did you feel in that moment when David and Nick voted for you?
16:42Because you seemed genuinely surprised.
16:44I think you've been amazing throughout the game of putting on a face and really, really sort of psyching people out a little bit and maintaining this character.
16:52And you're doing it to me now, and I know what you're doing, Joe.
16:55But in that moment, you seemed to drop everything and you were genuinely surprised.
16:58I was, it was a combination of, like, gutted.
17:03I was like, oh no, I really, like, this has backfired massively.
17:07What have I got wrong?
17:08And then I just want, I was desperate to get out and go, right, where's Kat?
17:12I need, like, to see you.
17:14I knew you were a traitor, but I was like, I just need to see you.
17:16I'm sorry I voted you, even though it was a traitor.
17:19Yeah, it was a surprise, but there's no hard feelings at all,
17:22because ultimately it was just a really, really big, fun game.
17:26You'd said you had some suspicions over Alan.
17:28I did.
17:28And then you didn't vote for him.
17:31You didn't vote to carry on the game.
17:32I didn't vote for Alan once in the whole show, I think.
17:36But going into that end game, you were like, I've got some suspicion.
17:39And the way the game works, if no one's saying whether they're traitor or faithful,
17:43the safe thing to do would be to carry the game on.
17:46Yeah.
17:46But you didn't do that.
17:47Can you talk us through the thought process?
17:50I just don't know what I was thinking.
17:52I feel like Alan's just very, Alan is incredibly persuasive because he's so relaxed and he's so Alan and he's so, he was just so convincing throughout the whole game.
18:05And I just, I was like, you know, I think, I think we've got it.
18:08I think we've now just got that final traitor, which I believed to be Joe at that point.
18:12How did it feel watching the final back?
18:14It was, I mean, I was sat behind you, so I was just an absolute wreck.
18:20It's so great.
18:21It's such great telly.
18:22Can I, big shout out, I don't know the name of the, who composes the score, but the score is absolutely phenomenal.
18:28Because it is, it is so, it feels like you're watching a Marvel movie or something.
18:35It is just cliffhanger, suspense, release, suspension, tense.
18:39It is, it's, all the emotions.
18:42And that last, yeah, that last 15, 20 minutes, I was just clinging on to Joe and shouting, cat.
18:48It was brilliant, Nick.
18:49Me and Nick bumped into each other in town the other day and he dragged me down a dark alley.
18:54It was very traitors-esque.
18:56Dragged me down a dark alley and went, everyone's going to hate me.
18:59But we don't hate him, do we, at all?
19:01No.
19:03That wasn't everyone.
19:04Okay.
19:05About 30%.
19:07And then came the time to reveal your identities.
19:12But before we discuss that with our winner, Alan, I have my own reveal to do.
19:16I've been teasing on Uncloaked about my secret cameo in the main show and I've been telling you at home to watch out for my Easter egg.
19:22Did you spot me?
19:23Well, I can now exclusively reveal where I was hiding.
19:26For me, the only time I saw you ever intimidated in the game, Joe, do you remember the mission in the cabin?
19:37Hmm.
19:37So as you approach, there's druids lining the path.
19:41Yes.
19:42And then there's one druid in the middle.
19:44They swing your door open and pull you out the car.
19:47Pull me out the car.
19:47You seemed very scared by that guy.
19:49My adrenaline did spike.
19:51Yeah.
19:51And I was like, I'm going for this one.
19:53From what I could tell, the druid wasn't scared of you at all.
19:56And he did really, really well.
19:58He did do really well.
19:58Yeah.
19:59Even though he's not normally a druid.
20:01What's that...
20:02Would you like to tell me...
20:05Yes.
20:06Who was that druid?
20:07Me.
20:07I was the druid.
20:07You were that druid?
20:09I was that druid, yeah.
20:09Are you taking the pick?
20:12I was the druid.
20:14I was ready to fill you in.
20:15Because you kept going, you kept going, oh, you're just going to touch me, are you?
20:22This is so good.
20:30Yes.
20:32I wasn't the drummer from episode eight.
20:34I was, in fact, a druid.
20:36Nick, you were the other person I dragged from the Land Rover there.
20:40Yeah.
20:41Do you want to...
20:41I mean, we did tell you, we did film the reveal.
20:43Do you want to tell everyone what happened when I revealed to you that I was the druid?
20:47Well, from memory, I mean, I knew that it was you right from the start.
20:50Because I could see your eyes.
20:52And Ed and I were at uni together.
20:55I was slightly after him.
20:56And so I've known Ed for ages.
20:57I was like, well, that's Ed.
21:01I was gutted when you told me.
21:02I was so excited to reveal it to you.
21:03And I knew instantly.
21:04And it was a...
21:05There was a real, actually, sense of...
21:06I was like, oh, one of my friends is here.
21:08It was really nice.
21:10But, yeah, I mean, I knew it was you instantly.
21:13Well, now's the time you've all been waiting for.
21:15After sweating and worrying he'd be worse than Linda
21:18to cold-bloodedly killing his friends,
21:20our winner, Alan, is about to join me.
21:22But first, here's the moment he spoke to me in the castle
21:24just after he pulled the charity prize money
21:26from underneath Nick and David's noses.
21:33Hello, how are you?
21:36Oh, the winner.
21:37The winner.
21:40Oh.
21:42Welcome to Uncloaked, Alan.
21:44Oh, thanks for having me, Ed.
21:46Congratulations, the winner.
21:48I know, still hasn't sunk in.
21:49It's insane, isn't it?
21:50It is insane.
21:51When Claudia initially selected you as a traitor,
21:54did you ever, in your wildest dreams,
21:56see yourself at that endgame
21:57and winning the whole of the show?
21:59No, no, no, no, no.
22:01I did not even think I would get this far.
22:04My agent, this is a little exclusive,
22:06had actually booked in things for the second week.
22:09Because he said, Alan, he said,
22:11your poker face will be out two days in.
22:15And I actually believed him.
22:16And that's even before you knew
22:18whether you were a traitor or a faithful.
22:19You just assumed whichever you were,
22:21you were going to go out early.
22:22Yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:23I mean, I'm like that.
22:23When I go through customs, I start sweating.
22:25You know, when I go into a newsagent,
22:27it says, no shoplifting.
22:29I'm like, oh, like that.
22:30You know, it's just, I just feel I'm guilty.
22:33And I've got the worst poker face going.
22:35I mean, it's like a tug of war with my face.
22:39That endgame as well felt like the first time
22:42that we saw Serious Alan in the game.
22:44Yeah, yeah.
22:45Was that a challenge?
22:46Did you suddenly feel different at that endgame?
22:48I did feel different.
22:50And it's that weird irony, the more missions you do,
22:54the more you spend time with people.
22:56You are like a family.
22:58And that's cheesy and bleh, but it is true.
23:00Now, of course, when you see the money behind,
23:04I mean, £87,500 for a charity,
23:08that's when, yeah, come on, Alan, stop giggling.
23:11Celia said something lovely to me before I murdered her.
23:14She said, she said, Alan, you're surprising.
23:18You surprised me the way you ran across that bridge.
23:22And I thought, well, that's the best you can do
23:25is surprise yourself.
23:27So, yeah.
23:27Alan, are you proud of how well you played the game?
23:29So proud.
23:31Really, really proud.
23:33I found out about myself.
23:35I can be a chameleon.
23:37I can chat to people.
23:39I can lie.
23:40I can, when the pressure's on, I can do it.
23:43When Stephen Fry talks or David talks,
23:46I go quiet.
23:47I'm not worthy.
23:48I'm not intelligent.
23:49But maybe sometimes you do need to question,
23:52stand up for yourself and go,
23:53actually, I think this.
23:56Yeah.
23:56So, yeah, yeah.
23:57I think, well, I think you winning
23:59has absolutely proved that.
24:00Yeah.
24:01Idiots can do well.
24:09The winner of the first UK celebrity trade-offs
24:12is Alan Kerr.
24:24There it is.
24:27Alan, congratulations again.
24:29What a huge triumph.
24:30Is it fair to say that no one's more shocked than you
24:32that you managed to pull this off?
24:33I am so shocked.
24:34It is true what I said.
24:35I had to ring up my, the woman who was dog-sitting my dogs
24:38because I thought I'd be back after two days.
24:40I said, you've got them for another week.
24:42And it just kept getting more and more and more.
24:44I'm completely surprised.
24:46I don't know how this happened.
24:48I really don't.
24:49Look, and when we were watching it back,
24:51you got a big standing ovation right at the end there.
24:54Oh, I know, I know.
24:55It's so amazing.
24:56I feel, I do feel bad for doing it,
24:58but I mean, what can you do?
25:00It's, you know, I mean, I felt bad.
25:02But you played the game and you were incredible at it.
25:04I know, I know, I know, I know.
25:06How did it feel watching the end game back?
25:09Oh, God, so emotional.
25:10I mean, me crying as well.
25:12I mean, because I couldn't remember how,
25:14because Joe was on to us,
25:17and I couldn't remember how you got voted out,
25:19but then I lied and said you'd told us all to vote for David.
25:22And I'd forgotten I'd lied.
25:24What have I become?
25:26LAUGHTER
25:27You did quite a lot of lying, actually, Alan.
25:29I did loads of lying, and I started loving it.
25:31I just hope there's not, like, a murder in my street.
25:34You know what I mean?
25:34I opened the door, hello, officer.
25:36LAUGHTER
25:36I didn't see anything.
25:41LAUGHTER
25:41Yeah, I mean, it just comes really naturally to me.
25:45I mean, yeah.
25:46Can we talk about your journey
25:49from sweaty Alan to serial killer Alan?
25:51Yes, please.
25:52What was the moment that you dried out
25:54and thought, I can do this?
25:56Well, it was...
25:57LAUGHTER
25:58When I...
25:59When I killed Paloma...
26:01Ooh!
26:02Oh!
26:02Oh!
26:03Give me a break!
26:05LAUGHTER
26:06Because the thing is, when I killed Paloma, yeah,
26:08I felt sick inside.
26:11And you've got to remember, it was such a cruel twist
26:14to touch someone's face.
26:16Now, you're the only one.
26:17Maybe...
26:17And Jonathan was a traitor.
26:18I couldn't do it.
26:19I mean, if I touched any of these other faces,
26:21I'd be sent to HR.
26:24You know, old roof, hello.
26:26You know, I can't.
26:28So I dare.
26:28And then when she came down for breakfast the next day,
26:31I went, oh, because I felt so sick.
26:33I thought, oh, good, she hasn't been murdered.
26:35I was so pleased, lovely.
26:37And then we go outside.
26:38You're dressed as Queen Victoria.
26:40We then go to a funeral.
26:41I then see one of my best friends put in a coffin
26:45and sent off.
26:46I went, this is not going well.
26:48This is not what I wanted, you know.
26:50But then I got a taste for it.
26:52I couldn't stop.
26:53And then after I killed Paloma,
26:55then I got all the gays getting...
26:56Because when we killed Tom Daly...
26:58LAUGHTER
26:59Oh, Grey Alan killing off all the eye candy.
27:02I'm like, hello?
27:04LAUGHTER
27:04And...
27:05And then...
27:06APPLAUSE
27:08And then I saw him in the shower soaping himself up
27:12and I was like, ah!
27:13I killed too soon!
27:16Maybe one more week.
27:18Maybe one more week.
27:22But then you know...
27:23LAUGHTER
27:24I think it's fair to say,
27:26there are a few moments throughout your time on the show
27:29where we might have thought as viewers,
27:30I'm not sure if Alan can pull this off.
27:32One of them was certainly when you had to say,
27:34I am a faithful to everyone.
27:35Oh, my...
27:36And laughed halfway through.
27:38How do you adjust your game plan after things like that?
27:40And do you adjust your game plan?
27:42Well, I thought I was finished.
27:44Then I thought I was finished when I went,
27:46I'm a favourite!
27:48I thought, oh, that's it.
27:49And then Joe was on to me.
27:52And, yeah, I just sort of gave up, really.
27:54But I'm...
27:55But that's one thing I found out about myself.
27:58I am, like, a bit of a pushover.
28:00But when Joe is on to me,
28:03I'm like one of those cats you get in Greece.
28:05You know, those ones that are like...
28:07You go, oh, hello!
28:08You know, you go, oh, hello!
28:12You look quite cat...
28:13Claudia, did you ever doubt Alan's ability to pull this off?
28:19Yeah.
28:21No, I can say, I hope you don't mind this,
28:25but Alan started as Linda and ended as Harry.
28:28He had a extraordinary...
28:30Because at the beginning,
28:31when you came up to me,
28:32I can't do it.
28:34And he was like, I'm sweating.
28:36I can't keep a straight face.
28:39But he was absolutely...
28:41A, you're utterly brilliant,
28:43incredibly clever,
28:44and totally consistent.
28:45So Alan was Alan.
28:47And if you didn't suspect him from day one,
28:49it's Alan.
28:50He can't say I'm a faithful.
28:51He's forgotten he's had a shield.
28:53My favourite Alan moment, almost,
28:55was you talking to Celia.
28:57And Celia said, can I trust you?
28:59And you went, you can trust me.
29:01And you had snakes all over your top.
29:04And I was like, yeah!
29:05It's right there, guys.
29:07But it's interesting.
29:08I thought I'm quite happy at the beginning
29:10to be a faithful.
29:11And then, of course,
29:12when you're sitting there
29:13and you've got the blindfold on
29:14and you pick,
29:15I mean, I don't know what shoes you're wearing,
29:17but you sounded like a shire horse.
29:19I get a bit flamingo.
29:23And then when you went round
29:24and didn't touch me,
29:26there was a little bit like,
29:28oh, OK, I'm going to be a faithful.
29:29That's fine.
29:30So I realised deep inside,
29:31I probably did want to be a traitor.
29:33And then, of course,
29:33you come round again
29:34and then when you squeezed my shoulders,
29:36I was like, oh, my God.
29:37But you were so sweet
29:37because those chats
29:38where I have with everyone,
29:39they're much longer than you see.
29:41And as I said,
29:42there are some people
29:42who just don't even mark.
29:44Like, I only want to be a faithful.
29:45Um, and, and many others.
29:49And then you going,
29:51did you really say that?
29:52I was like, that literally word for word
29:54is what he said.
29:55Um, and you said,
29:56yeah, I want to be a traitor
29:57and then burst out laughing.
29:58And we were like,
29:59oh, yeah, fun.
30:00I think if I did have a strategy,
30:02I think it was,
30:04look at me now,
30:04now I've won,
30:05I've got a strategy.
30:06LAUGHTER
30:07I think what I did was
30:10I picked one,
30:11I mean, if I was pushed
30:12to do a strategy,
30:13like with Claire,
30:14I wouldn't let her go
30:15about the lever.
30:16And then with Mark,
30:18oh, you know,
30:18and you get all brave heart,
30:20I want to win!
30:21Like that.
30:22I said,
30:23why are you being all like this?
30:24And then poor old Kate,
30:26I was making out,
30:26she was Goldie Hawn,
30:28this dizzy blonde.
30:30I just kept saying to people,
30:32why?
30:33Why?
30:33You know,
30:34she's,
30:34she's a broadcaster,
30:35she's live on the telly
30:37every morning.
30:38Why?
30:38That's what I was doing.
30:39I mean,
30:39have you seen that brilliant thing
30:41on social media?
30:42Kate Garraway repeats everything.
30:44Have you seen it?
30:45Someone's been recruited.
30:47Someone's been recruited!
30:49Sun-dried tomatoes.
30:51Sun-dried tomatoes!
30:53But I mean,
30:54I think if I had a strategy,
30:55I'd just picked one thing
30:57and really went,
30:58oh, I don't know about them.
30:59They give me the eebie-jeebies.
31:01I mean,
31:01I hate to bang on too much
31:03about the Trojan horse mission,
31:04but I do want to chat
31:05to you a little bit, Claire.
31:07Are you still,
31:08are you still kicking yourself
31:09for pulling the lever?
31:10Oh, God, yes.
31:11And will do
31:12for a very long time.
31:13It was awful.
31:14As Alice, my wife,
31:15said to me,
31:15for God's sake,
31:16there would have been
31:16no one left on stage.
31:1726?
31:18What were you thinking?
31:19I was like,
31:20well, I just thought,
31:21start high and come down
31:22because we'll get more chances.
31:23They're working it out.
31:24Mark and Stephen
31:25are working it out
31:26and I'll just start trying.
31:28And I was conscious of time.
31:30By the way,
31:31it makes total sense.
31:32It makes total sense.
31:33You're very sweet.
31:35No, but when you see
31:36those kinds of locks,
31:37you know,
31:38like a padlock,
31:38you have a couple of goes.
31:40That's what you did
31:41on the train, in fact.
31:42So it made total sense to me.
31:44No, I still feel
31:45really bad about it
31:46and then I sort of shrank.
31:47But somebody talked to me
31:48the other day about it
31:49and he's a legal advocate
31:50and he said,
31:51although you made the mistake,
31:53at least you did put your hand
31:54up straight away
31:55and go,
31:55oh, my God,
31:56I am so sorry.
31:57And then Charlotte
31:57gave her shield up
31:58straight away
31:59for which she didn't
32:00get enough credit.
32:00So I'm giving her credit now.
32:02And we carried on
32:03and we still won the mission.
32:04So actually,
32:05it didn't cost us
32:06anything money-wise.
32:07Yeah.
32:08I just looked a major tit.
32:09So I'm happy to take that
32:10for the team.
32:11I'll just take the idiot,
32:13you know,
32:13mantle.
32:14No one thinks that,
32:15Claire.
32:15Mark,
32:16I've just noticed
32:16you're wearing a T-shirt there.
32:18Will you tell us
32:19what the T-shirt says?
32:20It says,
32:22Jonathan fucking Ross.
32:27I would like to say
32:28I have given him one too.
32:30Oh, right.
32:30Okay, good.
32:31As his early Christmas present.
32:32That's brilliant.
32:34We have to talk about
32:35that final mission
32:36because that was amazing.
32:38It looked incredible.
32:39The explosion at the end.
32:41Kat,
32:42how much did you enjoy
32:42that final mission?
32:44Your one last chance
32:44to get money for the pot.
32:45It was really fun.
32:47I mean,
32:48if I'm being honest,
32:49I really probably
32:49didn't do anything.
32:51It was mainly Joe.
32:52As I was to, like,
32:53grab something,
32:54then I saw the, like,
32:55having to take off
32:56the thing off the coffin
32:57and I was like,
32:57mm, that's going to hurt my hands.
32:59That's why you went and did it.
33:01You just sort of did everything
33:02and I was like,
33:03aw, yay,
33:04the boys are doing things.
33:08I think my favourite moment
33:09of that mission, though,
33:10was Nick dropping the lid
33:12on Joe's head.
33:14Repeatedly.
33:15And I just hope
33:16you are friends now.
33:17It's a precursor
33:17of what was to come, really,
33:18I think.
33:19I should have known then.
33:21Three times, mate.
33:22Three times.
33:23It sounds really loud
33:24when you watch it back as well.
33:26Oh, it was loud.
33:27I mean, it literally
33:27is a wooden,
33:28it was a wooden lid
33:29dropping on his head repeatedly
33:30while we were basically
33:32watching the new
33:32Chuckle Brothers.
33:35Incredible.
33:36Alan,
33:36you forgot you had a shield
33:37and obviously Joe
33:38picked up on this.
33:40Joe,
33:41why do you think
33:41no one else
33:42got on board with this?
33:43Because it seemed to be
33:44one of the clearest bits
33:45of evidence you had
33:46that Alan was a traitor.
33:46Again, a combination
33:49of not like
33:50really backing myself
33:51to convince everyone
33:53but also
33:53I was madly in love
33:55with Alan as well.
33:56Like, even when
33:57I went after him
33:58and he came back at me
33:59like the Greek cat,
34:01I then was like,
34:03well, bless.
34:04I was like,
34:05okay, fair enough.
34:06So,
34:07yeah,
34:08I think there might have been
34:09something inside me
34:09that was like,
34:10I quite like Alan
34:11still being in the game.
34:12Because we were duped,
34:14weren't we?
34:14He was being really
34:15friendly to us,
34:16wasn't it?
34:16And we were like,
34:17we couldn't believe
34:18our luck
34:18because Joe was coming
34:19and sitting with us
34:20going,
34:21you know,
34:21I think it's Nick
34:22and David.
34:22We thought we'd won.
34:23And we're like,
34:24yeah, Joe, yeah.
34:26High-fiving
34:27and all that.
34:27That bit where you went,
34:28oh, bless him
34:29as I walked off
34:30and I've only just seen that.
34:31I went,
34:31oh, okay.
34:32I see.
34:33But then when you put
34:34Cat on the sleigh,
34:35I couldn't,
34:36I mean,
34:36that was like
34:37a punch in the stomach.
34:39That was,
34:40I was like,
34:40don't leave me here.
34:41Don't leave me here.
34:43Nick and David,
34:44obviously,
34:44neither of you
34:45went for Alan in the end.
34:47What is it about Alan Carl
34:48that made you eventually
34:49decide he was a faithful?
34:51Alan could have come down
34:52to breakfast
34:53in a green cloak
34:54and I still wouldn't have
34:54thought he was a traitor.
34:55I just thought
34:58someone who was a traitor
34:59would look a bit less
35:01guilty the whole time
35:02and you just,
35:03Alan was being himself
35:04and also,
35:05you know,
35:05it's the thing,
35:06you just made me laugh
35:07the whole time.
35:08I was too busy laughing
35:09to be suspicious.
35:11I think it's something
35:11that,
35:12I think,
35:12I think something that,
35:14I think something that Tom said
35:15actually really,
35:16really early on
35:17was that
35:18comedians
35:20or some of the stand-ups
35:21could sort of
35:22slightly deflect by
35:23kind of just making you laugh.
35:24You said that.
35:25Sorry, Cat.
35:25I apologise.
35:26And it's so true
35:28and actually,
35:28but Alan was just being Alan
35:30and it's so hilarious,
35:31like inherently hilarious
35:32that it just completely
35:34threwed us off
35:34at every single point.
35:35Were you worried about
35:35the way Alan was acting
35:37though, Cat?
35:37Because we saw loads
35:38of moments
35:39where you just had to
35:40tell him to be quiet.
35:41Yeah, but even at the last,
35:43even on the last episode,
35:44just going,
35:45please don't,
35:45don't shout.
35:46I was shocked
35:47when I was cutting up
35:48that lemon
35:48and I watched it on the telly.
35:50What are we gonna do, Cat?
35:51I didn't think I was that loud.
35:54I feel like,
35:55like after a few days in
35:57or a few episodes in,
35:58I was kind of like,
36:00the best,
36:00like,
36:01that's exactly what I said to Nick.
36:03Comedians,
36:03the best way to disarm people
36:04is make them laugh.
36:05So people would be suspicious of Alan
36:07and then say something to him
36:08and he'd just make them laugh
36:09and then they go,
36:10oh, ha ha, never mind.
36:11So I was like,
36:12Alan's never gonna get caught
36:13because no one
36:14could think that he could do it.
36:16I mean,
36:16even with Jonathan,
36:17I did it.
36:18Yeah.
36:19Yeah, by the fire,
36:20I did it.
36:24Jonathan said,
36:25I'm gonna have to have a word
36:26with him about that.
36:28Alan,
36:29that final,
36:30that final round table,
36:31when,
36:31when you saw that Joe
36:33had switched the vote
36:34that you thought he was gonna do
36:35and he voted for Cat,
36:36what are you feeling
36:37in that moment?
36:39Oh, I mean,
36:40yeah,
36:41I was shocked.
36:42Like I said,
36:42I thought he was out,
36:44I thought we'd really got him
36:45and then,
36:46yeah,
36:47and then I did,
36:47it was like a punch in the summer.
36:49I felt physically sick
36:51and then I felt so alone
36:52because,
36:53you know,
36:53we were a great team together.
36:55So yeah,
36:56yeah,
36:56it was,
36:57really,
36:57you did pull the rug for it
36:59and he'd been so sweet,
37:00so lovely
37:01and all that.
37:02But did you think you were,
37:03like,
37:04did you think Nick was then gonna vote
37:05against you as well then?
37:07Or did you think...
37:08I didn't really,
37:09you know,
37:10I just didn't really think.
37:11I don't,
37:13I don't know.
37:15It was quite emotional for you
37:17at the end though.
37:18We saw you get quite...
37:18Oh God,
37:18I know.
37:18Well,
37:19all the lying
37:19and all that,
37:20it all just came bubbling up
37:22and it was,
37:23yeah,
37:23and then I think,
37:24you know,
37:25about getting,
37:26but you know,
37:27the charity I picked,
37:29I mean,
37:29I'm not...
37:29But you know,
37:31listen,
37:31the charity I picked
37:32is a really great charity
37:34and I know
37:35that that money
37:36is gonna do them
37:37so much good.
37:38So that was there,
37:40I was thinking about
37:40all the lovely people
37:42I'd murdered,
37:43I felt bad
37:44and then it all came up
37:46and then when I saw
37:47that green come up,
37:48I was like,
37:49oh my God,
37:49then I got the joke
37:50like that
37:51and then I thought,
37:52oh God,
37:53and then,
37:54I mean,
37:54your reactions
37:55when it came out.
37:56Let's remind ourselves
37:57of that emotional moment.
37:59It's been tearing me apart.
38:03I'm so sorry.
38:06You did brilliantly.
38:07You did brilliant.
38:08You did brilliant.
38:10You did brilliant.
38:10It's a game.
38:11You did brilliantly.
38:12You did brilliant.
38:13It's a game.
38:16And what you didn't see,
38:18I turned into that Greek cat
38:20and bit him.
38:23Alan,
38:24you said there
38:24it was tearing you apart.
38:26It was.
38:26Cat,
38:27can I ask you
38:27as someone who watched
38:28Alan write
38:29the murdered player's name
38:30every single night
38:31on the scroll?
38:32Did you feel like
38:33it was tearing him apart?
38:34No,
38:35honestly,
38:36like walking around
38:37that castle
38:38and seeing how stressed
38:39Alan was all the time,
38:40I was like,
38:41how does nobody
38:42see that it's this man?
38:43The only one
38:43that could kind of see
38:44was Claire
38:45and I was like,
38:46if I was a faithful,
38:46I would have gone to Claire
38:47quite early on
38:48and gone,
38:48I think the same thing as you
38:49but let's not say anything
38:50until a bit later.
38:51Let's round up some numbers
38:53and I think that's why
38:53you ended up like going
38:55but I just,
38:57he was so nervous
38:58just throughout
38:58so when I saw you cry,
39:00I just started crying
39:00because I was like,
39:01oh, Alan.
39:02I mean,
39:03I just wanted to climb
39:03inside that suit of armour
39:05that's in the hallway
39:06and just close the thing down
39:08and just leave me alone,
39:11everyone.
39:13What about you, David?
39:13In that moment
39:14that Alan got emotional
39:15and you'd run over
39:16to comfort him,
39:16how are you feeling?
39:17Well,
39:17it was such a genuine moment.
39:19It was just poured out
39:20of Alan
39:20and it was,
39:21it snapped us out
39:23of that thing.
39:23You know,
39:23this is a game
39:24and the genuine nature
39:26of Alan's response
39:27just made us,
39:28you know,
39:28the obvious,
39:28the human thing to do
39:29was to,
39:30you know,
39:31give him a hug
39:31and say it's a game
39:32and you won,
39:33you did brilliantly.
39:34Now, Alan,
39:35before we go,
39:35there's a bit of
39:36unfinished business
39:37to quote you.
39:38We've heard from Paloma
39:39on Uncloaked
39:40but we want to hear
39:42how was it murdering
39:43your good friend?
39:45It was,
39:46I can't even do it!
39:49It was so awful,
39:50it was so awful
39:51and it was weird
39:53because,
39:53you know,
39:54I love,
39:54you know,
39:54I'm a fan of her music,
39:56I'm a fan of her for ages,
39:57you know,
39:58we are friends,
39:59we go on each other's podcast
40:00but yeah,
40:01it absolutely really hurt,
40:03it really did.
40:04Now,
40:04with the nation watching,
40:05do you think it's time
40:06for an apology?
40:07I mean,
40:07Paloma sat right there.
40:08I am so sorry,
40:12you know I am
40:13and I want to tell everyone
40:14that I'm the father of a child.
40:21It was great.
40:22We had a make-up hug,
40:23one thing led to another.
40:26I have been known
40:27to term people
40:28and it was an enjoyable experience
40:31for both of us,
40:32I hope,
40:32but I just also want to say
40:34that I think observing tonight
40:36and going through
40:37my whole plethora
40:38of hormonal emotions,
40:40I feel like
40:41that the reason
40:42why Alan won
40:43and the reason
40:44why I was so sad
40:45was because
40:46we all love him so much
40:48and I love you so much
40:51and I'm so happy
40:52that you won
40:53because it was bloody worth it then.
40:55Yeah.
40:55But I think that
40:56most people didn't vote for you
40:58because they're like,
40:59how can we vote someone
41:00that's so lovable
41:01and it really concludes
41:03that thing
41:03that you won it,
41:05you hurt me
41:06and I loved you,
41:07but...
41:08Only love can hurt
41:09like that though.
41:09Yeah, only love can hurt
41:10like this.
41:11And I just think
41:15he won it
41:17because everyone loves him
41:18and the nation loves him
41:20and I'm just really happy
41:21that he won.
41:23Sorry for rubbing it in
41:24by putting your head
41:25on the coffin by the way.
41:25It doesn't look anything like it.
41:27On reflection,
41:31how do you think
41:32the experience
41:32has changed you?
41:33Oh my God,
41:34I absolutely loved it.
41:37I absolutely loved it.
41:38We spent the whole time,
41:40didn't we,
41:40laughing
41:40and it was absolutely joyous
41:44and honestly,
41:45would I do it again?
41:47I was going to say
41:47I'd do it again.
41:48I think people would know
41:49if I turned up again.
41:51Do it!
41:52I don't think that act.
41:53Oh, hello.
41:54Don't mind me.
41:54What am I like?
41:55I don't think it would work.
41:56No.
41:57A second time.
41:58You would be out
41:59before the first round table.
42:00There's no way
42:01that's working again.
42:02I know,
42:02but it was wonderful.
42:03I loved it
42:04and the response
42:05has just been amazing.
42:06I'm cracking up
42:07at all the memes
42:07and it's just weird.
42:09I've never,
42:10of all the shows I've done,
42:11I've never had anything like this.
42:13You know,
42:13people going past on a bike,
42:15traitor!
42:16Who you murdering now?
42:18I don't think so.
