00:00Now, I have an update on a story I first told you about last week.
00:03Abby Zwirner, the teacher who was shot by her six-year-old first-grade student,
00:07well, she's been awarded $10 million by a jury. Zwirner had filed a lawsuit against the principal
00:12of the school, Ebony Parker, who she said did nothing to thwart the shooting, despite knowing
00:17that the child had a gun. Well, a Virginia jury sided with Zwirner, finding the school principal
00:22liable to the tune of $10 million. And it's a lot of money, significantly, though, less than what
00:28the teacher had been seeking, which was $40 million. Zwirner's legal team applauded the
00:33verdict, saying, quote, when the city of Newport News and its schools failed to protect their
00:37teachers, students, and citizens, we held them accountable through the courts. Now it's time
00:42for the city to ensure Abby receives the justice this verdict represents. Now, Parker also faces
00:47criminal charges of child neglect.
