Explore the ancient grandeur and cutting-edge modernity of Egypt on the Viking Amun cruise along the Nile River.
Transcript
00:00I am on a magical cruise of the Nile River in Egypt, on Viking Cruises' brand new ship,
00:08Viking Amun.
00:09The 11-day holiday starts in colorful and chaotic Cairo, where guests visit iconic sites
00:15like the Pyramids of Giza, the brand new Grand Egyptian Museum, the mesmerizing Khan el Khalili
00:22Bazaar, and riverside restaurants with gorgeous views.
00:26The next day, we take a charter flight to the ancient city of Luxor, where we board our
00:31stunning ship, Viking Amun, for a seven-night cruise.
00:36With a capacity of just 82 guests, the ship features a magnificent sun deck with 360-degree
00:42views, three restaurants and bars, a stunning pool, and 41 state-of-the-art rooms.
00:49Shore excursions in Luxor include visits to ancient temples such as Karnak, followed by
00:55a trip to the Valley of the Kings, where we step inside the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs,
01:01who ruled this part of the world thousands of years ago.
01:04A trip to the 3,400-year-old Luxor temple is mind-blowing.
01:10But it's the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut that really brings the house down.
01:16Built into dramatic limestone cliffs, it's a magnificent feat of architecture and a sight
01:22to behold.
01:23We also spend two nights in Aswan, where a Feluka boat ride is a real highlight.
01:29The best thing about the trip, however, is the cruise along the world's longest river,
01:34with breathtaking scenery at every turn and magical sunsets every evening.
01:40Even though we visit some incredible places, there's plenty of time to simply kick back and
01:46relax.
01:47My favourite place to hang out is the Aquavit restaurant, where sweeping views meet world-class
01:52service and gourmet meals.
01:53We plan this for you, the past that we have here, bubble, and we have chickpeas.
02:00Okay.
02:01We have here the cheese, pita, tomato.
02:06We have the whiskey salad.
