00:00The 10 college basketball teams that have only spent a single week in the top 25.
00:06Army. Army's basketball program has existed for over a century, yet its lone top 25 appearance
00:12came in 1970 after a 2-0 start. Ranked number 14, the Black Knights dropped out immediately
00:20following a loss to West Virginia, starting a decades-long drought.
00:24Bucknell. After over 100 years on the court, Bucknell finally reached number 24 in February
00:292006 during a 12-game win streak. A quick loss to Northern Iowa ended their brief moment in the
00:35spotlight, knocking the Bison out after just one week.
00:39Cleveland State. Cleveland State's magical 1986 March Madness run to the Sweet 16 earned preseason
00:46hype the following year. Ranked number 20 entering 1986-87, they immediately lost to Memphis and
00:53vanished from the top 25 just as fast as they appeared.
00:56Iona. Before Rick Pitino, Jim Valvano led Iona to national recognition. After back-to-back NCAA
01:04tournament trips, the Gales ended 1980 ranked number 19. Despite a stellar 29-5 record, their
01:10second-round March Madness exit closed their only week in the poll.
01:14Kent State. Kent State's single, top 25 moment came during the 2007-2008 season. Sitting at 23-5 and
01:23ranked number 23, their excitement ended abruptly when Bowling Green handed them a loss, erasing
01:29their brief claim to national recognition.
01:32Lamar. Lamar climbed to number 19 in February 1980 with a dominant 15-2 record and an eight-game
01:38win streak. Unfortunately, Louisiana Tech spoiled the celebration the same day the Cardinals made
01:44the rankings, cutting their top 25 stay to one fleeting week.
01:49Maryland Eastern Shore. The only HBCU ever to crack the top 25, Maryland Eastern Shore,
01:54ranked number 20 in February 1974 after starting 20-0. Ironically, they lost to Morgan State the
02:01same day, ending both their perfect record and historic top 25 debut.
02:06Missouri State. Back in the 1952-53 season, Missouri State, then Southwest Missouri State,
02:13finished 24-4 and ranked number 20 in the final top 20 poll. It marked both their greatest season
02:20and their sole appearance in the national rankings.
02:24Northeastern. In 1986, Northeastern shocked number 2 Louisville to open the season.
02:30The upset vaulted them to number 19 in the first poll of 1986-87. But after an early stumble,
02:37their week of fame ended as quickly as it began.
02:39Old Dominion. Old Dominion's 12-1 start in 2014-15 earned them the number 25 spot in January.
02:48A 10-game win streak had turned heads, but Western Kentucky soon handed them a loss,
02:53marking the end of their short-lived national ranking.
