00:00señor san francisco
00:12we are fortunate to live in the most beautiful remarkable place on earth
00:24but the true magic of san francisco
00:27La San Franciscans.
01:00Desde Chinatown a Japantown,
01:03desde la Missión a la Filmmar,
01:05desde Hunter's Point a la Castro,
01:07desde el norte de la Sunset.
01:10También estamos resilientes,
01:13experiencing más de nuestra share share de desafíos.
01:17Cuando el Loma Precha earthquake se hizo,
01:20nos llevó federales que nos aseguró que no sólo se recuperar,
01:24pero reimagined the South of Market neighborhood.
01:28Y, of course, HIV-AIDS tested our city to its core.
01:33Pero de nuestra agonia came action.
01:36Under el liderazgo de UCSF y San Francisco General,
01:39nos pioneó comprensible community-based care,
01:42prevención y research.
01:43That very system served as a model
01:46as we wrote the Ryan White Care Act,
01:48which still ensures access
01:50to life-saving medical care nationwide.
01:53Fittingly, our city is home
01:55to the National AIDS Memorial Grove,
01:58a place of renewal
01:59where we remember the loved ones we lost.
02:02For decades,
02:03I've cherished the privilege
02:04of representing our magnificent city
02:07in the United States Congress.
02:09It seems prophetic now
02:12that the slogan of my very first campaign
02:14in 1987 was
02:16A Voice That Will Be Heard.
02:18And it was you
02:19who made those words come true.
02:21It was the faith that you had placed in me
02:23and the latitude that you have given me
02:26that enabled me to shatter the marble ceiling
02:29and be the first woman speaker of the House
02:32whose voice would certainly be heard.
02:35It was a historic moment for our country,
02:37and it was momentous for our community,
02:40empowering me to bring home
02:42billions of dollars
02:43for our city and our state.
02:46With these resources,
02:47we have powered enormous progress.
02:50For health care,
02:51from the fight against HIV-AIDS
02:53to the Affordable Care Act.
02:56For transportation,
02:58extending BART,
03:00electrifying CalTrain,
03:02creating the Third Street Light Rail
03:04and the Central Subway,
03:05and strengthening our iconic Golden Gate Bridge,
03:10all creating good-paying jobs.
03:12For housing,
03:13enabling nonprofits
03:14to build affordable,
03:16low-income, community-based housing
03:18with the low-income housing tax credit.
03:21For the environment,
03:23from protecting clean air and water,
03:25to taking action on climate,
03:27to transforming the Presidio
03:29from a military post
03:31to a national park,
03:32a model for the nation.
03:35Of course,
03:36credit for this work
03:37also goes to our brothers and sisters in labor,
03:40and it was also made possible
03:41by the entrepreneurial spirit
03:43of our private and non-profit sectors.
03:45We can be proud of what we have accomplished,
03:49but there's always much more work to be done.
03:53Of course,
03:54San Francisco's impact
03:55is not confined to our city limits.
03:57The Affordable Care Act,
03:59Wall Street Reform,
04:01human rights abroad,
04:02and so many other priorities
04:04all sprang from the vision,
04:06values,
04:07and voices of San Franciscans.
04:10Because of your trust,
04:11I was able to represent our city
04:13and our country around the world
04:16with patriotism and pride.
04:19I say to my colleagues in the House all the time,
04:22no matter what title they have bestowed upon me,
04:25speaker,
04:26leader,
04:27whip,
04:28there has been no greater honor for me
04:30than to stand on the House floor and say,
04:33I speak for the people of San Francisco.
04:37I have truly loved serving as your voice in Congress,
04:40and I've always honored the song of St. Francis.
04:44Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace,
04:47the anthem of our city.
04:49That is why I want you,
04:51my fellow San Franciscans,
04:52to be the first to know
04:54I will not be seeking re-election to Congress.
04:57With a grateful heart,
04:59I look forward to my final year of service
05:01as your proud representative.
05:03As we go forward,
05:05my message to the city I love is this.
05:08San Francisco,
05:10know your power.
05:12We have made history.
05:13We have made progress.
05:15We have always led the way.
05:17And now we must continue to do so
05:20by remaining full participants in our democracy
05:23and fighting for the American ideals we hold dear.
05:28In doing so,
05:29we ensure that our city shines on
05:31as a beacon of hope,
05:32justice,
05:33and peace
05:34for the country
05:35and for generations to come.
05:37After all,
05:39San Francisco is the greatest city on Earth
05:41with the most extraordinary people on Earth
05:44and a place that I will always believe
05:47is Heaven on Earth.
05:50Thank you, San Francisco,
05:51for trusting me to be your voice in Congress.
05:55May God bless you,
05:56and may God bless the United States of America.
05:59Thank you, San Francisco,
06:18and may God bless you,
06:18and may God bless you,
06:19and may God bless you,
06:20and may God bless you.
