The Penang Fire and Rescue Department has intensified its preparations for the Northeast Monsoon season, identifying six landslide hotspots and placing 1,700 auxiliary and volunteer firefighters on standby.

00:13State Fire and Rescue Department Director Mohammad Shoki Hamza said six landslide hotspots have been identified
00:20across Seberang-Peraitenga, Baratdaya Southwest, and Timur-Laut Northeast districts.
00:26At a ceremony at the state headquarters in Batu Kawan on Thursday,
00:31the department carried out an asset inspection and handed over 10 community boats
00:36worth 120,000 ringgit to local community fire brigades.
00:41About 1,700 auxiliary and volunteer firefighters are now on standby throughout the monsoon season.
00:49Shoki said since early October the department has recorded 11 flood-related incidents,
00:54five landslides and 41 fallen tree cases,
00:58with numbers expected to rise by about 18 percent compared to last year.
