00:00It's on cinema, at the cinema, at the manor.
00:23Thank you guys. Hey, thank you so much.
00:25Good to be back here at Grand Terrace Manor. Where's everybody?
00:33All right, well, we'll work with what we got here. Nice to see everybody. Thanks for coming out.
00:38We've got a great show for you today. We've got film expert Greg Turkington's going to stop by.
00:44And we're going to talk about some new movies that have just come out in the theaters.
00:47So we're also going to be talking to somebody you guys know, but I think our audience does not.
00:54And that is the program administrator here, Mrs. Barbara Reynolds, will join us for a little chat.
01:02So it's going to be a really fun show. Thank you guys for tuning in at home.
01:06And thank you all for being here. But I'm missing some faces here.
01:12What the heck? Anyway, what else is going on?
01:16Hey, can someone tell me what happened to Robert De Niro?
01:18I mean, this guy was like America's favorite actor.
01:22You say, who's your favorite actor? Rob De Niro.
01:23Now he won't shut up about politics.
01:26And it's obnoxious.
01:29And I think he's forgotten sort of the hard work, the American values that got him to be this rich guy
01:36driving around in his Lamborghinis and everything.
01:38Anyway, let's start the show.
01:41We got, as always, well, we'll see, maybe we'll mix it up a little bit later in the season.
01:47But we got from the Victorville Film Archive.
01:50I know you guys have spent a little bit of time with him this week outside the show.
01:54We got Greg Turkington is with us.
01:57Hey, guys.
01:58It's movie time.
01:59You got it.
02:00Will you come in?
02:00I'm telling you, you've got to keep the door closed.
02:04It's really simple.
02:05I wanted to announce the very first Victorville Film Archive.
02:11Sit down and make whatever announcement you want to make.
02:15I wanted to announce the very first in a series of donations from the Victorville Film Archive to the Grand Terrace Manor.
02:23You guys are going to like this.
02:25These are two of the all-time classic movies.
02:27I'm actually going to donate and we're going to have Mounted on the walls here for everyone to enjoy.
02:31Of course, On Golden Pond, which starred a couple of the Fonda family, Jane Fonda and Henry Fonda in an Oscar-winning performance.
02:42This is kind of a different orientation than you often see movie posters, which is why this one is even more priceless and rare and collectible.
02:50You're eating into your movie review time here.
02:52Cocoon The Return, which was the sequel and the better of the Cocoon movies.
02:57So we're just looking for a place that would be good to hang them up.
03:01I'm suggesting over here because they have that we-put-prevention-into-practice poster as kind of faded.
03:07That would be a good spot for this one.
03:08And then On Golden Pond up there.
03:11How many people here saw Cocoon or On Golden Pond in the theaters?
03:14Cocoon The Return.
03:15This is actually the sequel.
03:16Okay.
03:18All right.
03:20Let's review some movies.
03:22Well, let's do that in a minute.
03:23We're going to have our first guest of the show after.
03:25I mean, you're our first guest.
03:26I should say our second guest.
03:27Second.
03:27Come out here and I just wanted the audience at home to get to know Mrs. Reynolds, Barbara Reynolds.
03:35So Barbara Reynolds, come on out here and we'll get a quick chat with you.
03:39And also, before-
03:40Sorry, I need life from you guys.
03:43Okay?
03:44I need something.
03:45I need an acknowledgement.
03:46Thank you very much.
03:47Come on in.
03:48Thank you for coming here.
03:50Okay, take a seat here.
03:51All righty.
03:54From the Grand Terrace Manor, what is your official title here?
04:00I'm the director.
04:01Director of, yeah, okay.
04:03Director of everything, I guess.
04:05That's terrific.
04:06So tell us, Barbara, how did you get into this line of work?
04:10I started when I was about 13.
04:12The neighbors would ask my parents if I could watch their mother or grandparent.
04:19And so I was a pretty strong kid.
04:21I'm able to transfer, able to move patients and change diapers at that age.
04:27And what are some of your big concerns here running an old folks home or whatever you want
04:31to call it, a nursing home?
04:32I don't know what the PC term is, assisted living.
04:36Well, my biggest concern is COVID.
04:38It's still a big problem.
04:40Really?
04:40Yes.
04:41I thought that had been eradicated or...
04:44It's not policy anymore, but if it were up to me, I would still encourage them to wear
04:49a mask to prevent the spread of COVID.
04:52It's still a big problem, especially with our seniors.
04:55Yeah, you're responsible for their lives.
04:57And these are frail people because they're sort of towards the end of the road, I guess.
05:03I hate to say it that way, but they are more fragile than, say, you or I because of their
05:08age.
05:09And I don't know if you're familiar with rheogenesis, but there's a way to test the age of your organs.
05:16Believe it or not, I was exposed to a lot of toxic chemicals in the past 10 years.
05:20And apparently, the age of my organ, my interior organs, is 85.
05:27How many 85-year-olds do we have here?
05:2885 plus.
05:29So my organs are as old as you.
05:31If it was just me, my organs, I would be here at this facility.
05:37But luckily, they have a product called Warp 10, which can reverse that.
05:44So I recommend that, and we can talk more about that later.
05:47It's been great talking to you and getting to know you.
05:49And thank you again for facilitating this.
05:52I've been having a lot of fun doing it.
05:54And this guy, you can't get him away from the place because he's been spending a lot of time here.
05:57Did you see some of the movie-themed snacks that we have for today?
06:00Because I know you said some of them can't chew popcorn.
06:04So I actually brought some movie-themed mac and cheese, which is Toy Story mac and cheese.
06:11We have some Smurfs gummies because a Smurfs movie came out this summer.
06:15Very cool assortment of foods that I think everybody's really enjoying.
06:18And just to say, you know, thank you for doing that, Greg.
06:21We've been putting a lot of effort to coming in here and putting the work in.
06:25If you wouldn't mind just nudging the folks here to come to these
06:29because we had about half the number of people here today than we had last week.
06:34Okay, will do.
06:35Yeah, thank you.
06:37Yeah, there's people that I was talking to earlier that said they were going to be here today
06:40and then they're not here.
06:41Yeah.
06:42So just prioritize that, okay?
06:44Yes.
06:45All right, well, let's wrap it up here.
06:47We've got a lot of movies to get to.
06:48Is there anything else you wanted to tell the group here?
06:51Yes, I have an announcement about tomorrow.
06:53Tomorrow the water system is going to be off from 2 to 4 p.m.
06:57I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
07:00All right.
07:00Thank you so much.
07:02Yeah, that's it.
07:03That's all we have time for.
07:04Thank you very much.
07:05All right.
07:06All right.
07:08Now it's movie time.
07:09I asked her to put in the, because they do the newsletter, and I looked at it, I saw
07:17it, because G had it, and it's like at the bottom of the page, they have all this other
07:21crap up top.
07:22Well, some of these people are liars because I talked to at least three people earlier
07:27that said they were going to be here, but they're not here.
07:28All right.
07:29All right.
07:29The Running Man.
07:31Yes.
07:31Directed by Edgar Wright, starring Lee Pace, Glenn Powell, Josh Brolin.
07:39A man joins a game show where contestants are allowed to go anywhere in the world, are pursued
07:45by, quote, hunters hired to kill them.
07:48Running Man.
07:49Interestingly enough, we had last week a movie with man in the title, the week before a movie
07:54with a man in the title.
07:55I'm starting to wonder if pretty soon every movie that comes out of Hollywood is going
07:59to have man in the title, and or woman, because you did have the kiss of the spider woman
08:04as well.
08:05So an interesting trend that maybe is snowballing a little too fast.
08:10This is a very cool movie.
08:11I always like to see Josh Brolin, if we have any other Josh Brolin fans here.
08:16He's always great.
08:17And of course, it's a scary movie.
08:19So if you're easily frightened, if you're scared by something like Friday the 13th or Halloween,
08:26this is even scarier than those.
08:27Is it?
08:28Yeah.
08:28All right.
08:28Rating?
08:29I'm going to give this one five bags of popcorn, and I'm going to throw in like a ream of paper
08:38that you can use to write down every movie that's come out this year that has man in
08:42the title.
08:42Right.
08:43You wouldn't see a running man around here due to the canes and wheelchairs and everything
08:47in the age, but I don't know how that lands.
08:52We should be selling, we should have a better sense of humor about the inevitability of aging
09:00and the decay that our body experiences as we reach these sunset years, or what we call
09:08the golden years.
09:10It's not a golden pond.
09:10Right.
09:11Right.
09:11So, dad, dad, can you smile for me, please?
09:19There you go.
09:21I give it five bags of popcorn.
09:23It's a shame that they couldn't find a way to get Schwarzenegger in there as a-
09:27It's a cameo.
09:28A cameo or something.
09:29Where's the running man?
09:32Haven't seen a lot of him lately on the big screen, but I hear that's about to change.
09:36Yeah.
09:37Some of my insider sources say that he has been cast in a major movie that we're going
09:41to see in 2026.
09:43Before we get into the next movie, I want to thank everybody that showed up for Music
09:48Night.
09:48We introduced Music Night on Monday, and it was fun to be here and do what I do with
09:55some of the songs of Dakar and some other songs, too, some golden oldies.
10:02So, let's take a look at this package from Monday's Music Night.
10:11So you think you can tell
10:15I wish, I wish you were here
10:20We got two nuts all sippin' in a fishbowl
10:26It feels like the first time
10:30Feels like the very first time
10:34I could climb any mountain
10:38Charge, charge
10:42Trace this lady
10:50You know
10:55Hi, this is an original.
10:57This is, uh, you guys probably know this one.
10:59I know Dad does.
11:04Fill me up
11:07Again
11:10And again, again, again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, again, again, and again, again, again.
11:21All right, let's get back to the movies.
11:24We've got Predator Badlands coming up.
11:26Yes.
11:27with Dan Trachtenberg's directing with Dakota Fanning
11:34and Demetrius Schuster and then Kolo Matagani.
11:44Demetrius Schuster, Kolo Matagani.
11:47This is a young predator outcast from his clan
11:50finds an unlikely ally on his journey
11:52in search of the ultimate adversary.
11:54And that would be Predator from back in the day.
11:58Again, another great Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.
12:02This title is a little confusing.
12:04Predator, Badlands, because we know there's a movie called Predator.
12:09There's also a movie called Badlands that came out a few years ago.
12:12So when you have two movie titles added into one title, it gets confusing.
12:18I don't think you would see something like Star Wars, The Hobbit.
12:22You wouldn't make a movie like that because it throws people off.
12:24And I think they've done that here,
12:26and it was kind of a missed opportunity to have a title that makes sense.
12:29But Dakota Fanning is always terrific, and I love this movie.
12:33I'm going to give it five bags of popcorn.
12:35Okay.
12:36Well, because it's Predator, without even seeing it,
12:38because I haven't seen this one yet,
12:39but Predator Badlands gets an official five bags of popcorn from me.
12:43I highly recommend you check it out with two cups of soda.
12:46And maybe, I hope, and maybe if you stick around after the credits,
12:49you'll find a cameo, finally, from Adam Schwarzenegger.
12:53You won't, but that would be cool.
12:55All right, folks, we're going to take a quick break.
12:58We have a new sponsor, and we'll cut to that right now.
13:02We'll be back with more show after this word.
13:04Hi, Grandma.
13:11I played baseball today.
13:12Oh, that's great.
13:14What position did you play?
13:15First base.
13:16That's what my Grandpa used to play.
13:19When our hearing wouldn't allow us to use a regular phone,
13:23it made us feel isolated.
13:24It became difficult to communicate with our friends and family.
13:28Clear Captions was an easy solution for us.
13:30Clear Captions provides captions on a phone
13:34so you can see what the caller is saying live as they say it.
13:38Making it easy to understand and respond immediately.
13:42There is no insurance or Medicare required.
13:45Clear Captions service is provided at no cost to you
13:47through a federally funded program.
13:50We deliver, install, and train you on how to use your phone,
13:53all at no cost to you.
13:55Give your loved ones the independence and connection they deserve.
13:58There is no insurance or Medicare required.
14:01Call now to see if you qualify to get a Clear Captions phone
14:04at no cost to you.
14:10Cool.
14:11All right, well, you have a bit of a, speaking of movies,
14:13a Sophie's Choice here because you can either get your update
14:17you have about your VFA or we can do Die My Love.
14:22I think we can do both, actually.
14:23Die My Love.
14:24Well, that's why I call, excuse me, that's what I call a Sophie's Choice.
14:29Starring?
14:32Who's got it?
14:32Anybody?
14:34Sophie's Choice starring?
14:35Anybody?
14:37Meryl Streep.
14:38Stick around after the movie if you want to hear whether or not
14:40you should see Die My Love.
14:41You should see it, but I'll give more information to you afterwards
14:44because he won't let me do it here.
14:46No, we just don't, I wish we had time, but you wanted to talk.
14:49We don't have time.
14:49Yeah, I wanted to talk about a new project that I've embarked on,
14:53which is movie making.
14:55Now, we all love movies and we all wish there were more movies
14:58and Hollywood can't keep up with the demand.
15:01Well, now at the VFA, we've embarked on a new program
15:04to basically recover and restore and convert old television shows
15:10into actual cinema quality, cinema certified motion pictures.
15:16And we've been doing that to start with, with the ALF television episodes
15:21where we take 100 minutes from the first four episodes of ALF,
15:26cut out the credits, sort of edit them together so that it becomes a movie
15:30and then assemble it as a motion picture,
15:33which we are going to be screening in theaters later this year.
15:36We've done ALF the Movie 1, ALF the Movie 2, all the way up through ALF the Movie 9.
15:41Well, my head isn't wrapped around that quite yet.
15:44If you see ALF 4, I think you'll be converted.
15:46That's the best one we've done so far.
15:49All right.
15:49You guys, stick around, get comfy, because Greg's got a movie for you tonight.
15:53I've got to run, but what are you screening for everybody today?
15:58This is a cool movie.
15:59This is a great choice.
16:00It's called Double Team, and the Los Angeles Times said it's a slam banger,
16:06one of Van Damme's best.
16:08So if you like Van Damme, it's also got Dennis Rodman and Mickey Rourke.
16:12All right.
16:13We'll stick around.
16:13If you don't want to go, if you don't want to watch this movie,
16:16now's a good time for you to sneak out so you don't disrupt the movie.
16:18No, I think they want to see the movie.
16:20Thank you guys so much.
16:21Double Team.
16:22See you next time.
16:22We'll have to clean that up before we get the maintenance staffers.
16:35What's the best way to get the maintenance guy?
16:38I can clean it up.
16:39I just want to get this started.
16:40Do you guys mind if I sweep that up while the movie is playing?
