00:00This bird is a juvenile white wag tail. At this stage, the bird has a soft and fluffy gray
00:06appearance which is quite different from the sharp black and white and gray plumage of adult
00:11wag tails. Juveniles usually show a pale face with a faint eye ring and lack the prominent black
00:18throat that adult males often have. The body is slim and the bird has long thin legs along a
00:25noticeably long tail which is a key feature of all wag tails. These birds constantly wag or bop
00:32their tails while walking or standing which makes them easy to recognize. I found this bird in
00:38Qumrat Valley in Pakistan in July 2025 which is a beautiful and lush habitat where wag tails are
00:45commonly seen near streams and open meadows. The white wag tails are insect eaters and can often be
00:52seen running lightly on the ground in search of small insects. As they mature, their plumage
00:58becomes more defined and crisp. Seeing a juvenile wag tail is always a pleasant sign that the local
01:05environment is supporting breeding and healthy bird life.
